This piano is so much more than the one that sits on the side of the road for free. This is a Steinway that has been played through trauma, heartache, joy, and practiced through the growth of my childhood. My sisters and I have such a deep attachment and connection through music. Herrema & Sons Piano Co. was able to safely and quickly move her 113 miles to my home. After my mom sold our childhood home of 23 years, a new chapter and a new journey of grieving and reminiscing comes next. This is how special this piano is to me and somehow the best way I know how to express my gratitude. This morning I woke up with a heavy heart. It all seems like grief is something I’ve been through, yet somehow it’s just as hard to work through all the same. I woke up, felt my heart, and went downstairs. She sat there, waiting for her new chapter to begin, having not been tuned in years, holding the scratches from years of life. I touched the keys and my heart welled. Tears rolled down my eyes as it felt like every key I played, whirled a new memory of my childhood all in one chord, both good and bad. As I cried and let my heart feel, my fingers played the keys my emotions were feeling. This is a true treasure to me and my sisters. This will not be her permanent home as she belongs to my oldest sister; she’ll have another chapter when it’s not my turn. I had taken piano lessons as a kid and tried to get back into it as an adult recently. I only had a Casio PX-110 digital piano to practice with and found it very discouraging to practice for hours each week on the Casio only to show up to my lesson where I was expected to play what I had learned on a Yamaha acoustic and not be able to perform it well. I found that on the acoustic during my lessons I struggled with the dynamics throughout a piece and the much faster response of the keys after being played was something I was just not accustomed to in my practice on the digital. I decided to give up lessons until I could find an affordable acoustic piano that I could practice on.Fortunately, I found such a piano at Herrema & Sons in Jenison. Ronnie’s knowledge of and passion for pianos was evident from the first time I met him. He spent about 45 minutes with me on my first visit and showed me everything to look for when making a piano purchase from possible rusty strings to cracked pin blocks and broken bridges. He even gave me a brief rundown of how to tune a piano. I decided to purchase a Yamaha M216 manufactured in South Haven, MI. The cabinet of the piano was a bit beat up, but the internal workings were all in good shape. I also decided that if I was to put this piano in my home, it should look nice too. So, I decided to have the piano painted satin black. The process took a few extra weeks to complete but seeing this one-of-a-kind piece everyday makes me thankful I decided to invest the extra money as it has transformed the cabinet condition from about a 5 or 6 out of 10 to a solid 8.5 or 9 (depending on how picky one might be). I couldn’t be happier with the service and responsive attention I received throughout this process.I definitely recommend giving this business a look if you’re in the market for a piano.

I recently moved to Kalamazoo a few weeks ago and needed a company to unload/set up my piano from the moving truck. Needless to say I contacted another piano company first and was disappointed at the one communication after many many attempts to ask for their services. Ronnie Herrema and his movers did an excellent job of transporting our new upright piano to our home. Ours was a difficult move; back porch steps combined with a long walk outside to remove the piano, plus exterior steps into the house and thirteen interior steps to the second floor! Whew! They handled everything safely and with care. I was happy to give them our business. You can tell they are precise and cautious with their moves. Ronnie answered my call and gave me quote within 24 hours, which I really appreciated.

Had a difficult walk out basement to first floor delivery a few miles away and they worked quick and efficient. The movers were clean and had mats and a cushioned travel blanket to protect my hardwood floors from the piano dolly. The very old piano upright looked just as it had and played wonderfully still. I appreciated the care and professionalism. My piano is acclimating to my home and they are coming back in two weeks to professionally tune it as well over many apprenticeship years of doing so. Best experience ever! We went in to Herrema & Sons on a Tuesday to browse their inventory, and just had our piano delivered to our house this morning (only two days later)! I highly recommend working with Ronnie and his wife at Herrera & Sons Piano. I reached out to them when I saw an ad on craigslist for a piano they had. I hadnt heard of them prior and didnt know they had a showroom for selling pianos, or that they offer piano related services such as moving. While meeting in the showroom with Ronnie (appointment only), he took the time to show me the various pianos available, explain characteristics about each, and play them for me. I was able to choose and purchase one that date, as well as set up a delivery time at my convenience. They showed up on time and moved the piano into my home with ease. There was one issue in that the left side of the let-off rail had come loose which I noticed after they left. They had the technician they work with contact to fix it, but I was able to put it back in place on my own which resolved all issues. It was a fluke. Overall, the whole experience was great, and I know I got a piano that was cleaned, inspected, tuned, and delivered at a fair price. One of the best decisions I ever made was to hire Ronnie Herrema to move our piano. He was easy to contact, very prompt at responding, and gave us a very fair price. He and his wife are not only super nice but the two of them made the difficult job of piano moving look easy. They even took extra care to cover the floors. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. A friend knew that we were looking to move our piano and suggested that we call Herrema Piano. Ronnie was very helpful and was easy to work with. He and his colleague came to our home and checked out the piano. We knew there were a few things that needed fixing and they were willing to work with those issues. We were not looking to sell the piano and were glad to know that they would move it for free (since we had no stairs) if we were simply looking to move it out of our home. They will try to fix it and then sell it at their store. They sell, at lower cost, to teachers or families needing a piano for lessons and the like. If our piano can be fixed and sold at an affordable price well be glad knowing it was donated for this purpose. Ronnie and his colleague were careful in moving the piano - very experienced. If you need your piano moved or possibly fixed, call Herrema Piano. Highly recommend.

OUTSTANDING PEOPLE -If I could add more stars i would. Very professional movers. I had a baby grand piano that they moved with a very short notice. They are very consciousness about safety and the weight of my piano and the sturdiness of the legs.... hence are looking for a different piano for me. I cant say enough about these piano movers. If you need a piano moved, definately call them. No need to get quotes as they are more than fair. Also very interesting to see how professionally and experienced they maneuver a very heavy large baby grand piano.

Excellent service! This is an awesome company with very professional people that help you with all your piano needs. We purchased a piano on Craigslist and Herrema picked it up from the sellers house and moved it to ours. Very nice not to have to deal with bothering family or friends to help move it.
