This is a lovely pub in Jericho, with wonderful staff, lovely ambience and good food (and drinks). We visited here on Tuesday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the 2-for-1 burger. We chose the Chicken Katsu and Crispy chicken breast burgers. Both of them were tasty. For sides, I will definitely recommend Corn. The sweet corn is one of the best I have ever had. The butter & spices made the corn incredible. Will definitely recommend it to everyone in Oxford.
Cool pub in the centre of Jericho. Decent selection of beers of various types, friendly staff and a cool location with an upstairs music venue. Great for a pint or three after work! 👍
Was here on Saturday, the vibe was amazing and extremely busy but the staff were killing it and did an amazing job! Thanks for making our Saturday night a good one! Will be back
Haven’t had good few last experiences so probably will not visit again. One of the times our food order was late 1.5hrs, staff member was crying (!) as they had “some issues” in the garden(?). Last time we ordered food was not available but not taken of the menu, we asked for refund and left, only to realise later that only partial refund was issued. Came back later on to ask for a full refund which took ages as no one knew how to do it(?!). Please don’t leave your untrained teenage staff to work alone!
Absolutely amazing pub! The food is amazing (especially the courgetti) and the staff are very friendly! Great place for a chill post work drink or a night out with friends. P.S. the home made dog biscuits are a great touch!
Had a amazing night down the Tavern garden last friday, great drinks selection, awesome staff, sensational food! What more can i say, super busy for them but was always served quickly at the bar!
Great garden out the back. Friendly staff and good services. Live entertainment was great too. Nice to have gigs back on again!
Stopped for a drink on a hot day (great beer selection) and was convinced to buy lunch too as the aromas coming from the kitchen were too good to resist! Halloumi burger was great and really liked the hot sauce it was topped with.. secret recipe? ;)
Man with the bleach blonde hair was incredible. At the end of the night he told he was new. I was shocked because the service was simply amazing. Theyre clearly doing something right! Great selection of craft beer too. Highly recommend. Lucie
Very cool restaurant and music venue. Would definitely visit again, especially when concerns are back in full swing.
With its blue-painted walls, beautiful large tessellated windows and many historical details, the Jericho Tavern ist a bit of an enchanted place. We enjoyed our very decent meals in the warm and friedly atmosphere of this really nice place!
Nice, quiet and comfy afternoon pint of ale. Just what I needed.
Well JT - our experience last night was sadly very different to those who have written positive reviews. We strolled in yesterday eve, 8ish, ready for some great food and drinks. The three of us found a table, made ourselves comfy, and waited for someone to greet us. Nothing. We uploaded the app, started to choose our food and drinks. Still no acknowledgement. When food was delivered to a neighbouring table, we smiled hopefully at the person delivering the food. Still no greeting. After 20 mins in a half empty pub, several staff with little to do, we decided to stroll back home. Locals, frequent visitors to bars and restaurants, we wont be bothering again. Jericho is full of amazing eateries where staff greet and make you feel welcome. Not a lot to ask for really. Shame, but maybe worth management noting for staff training.
Good fredly staff but tables were in need of wash down as sticky.
Very friendly staff, had a lovely lunch in the beer garden/courtyard. Great selection of beers too, all good 👍
Very nice to eat indoors at last. Friendly staff and excellent for a quick meal before going to the pictures next door. Good Covid awareness from staff and patrons.
Fantastic drinks options. Exceptionally brilliant service
Nice place to have a drink. But be aware... £5 a pint!!!
Excellent Sunday roast. Thanks
Great spot for an affair or two, also the chicken iz dope.
Great Jericho pub, pleasant staff. Perfect inside on a rainy Saturday or on a nicer day it has a lovely secret garden/courtyard. Worth a look. Food is decent - great burgers! But bring back the warm scotch eggs guys! Great music history as Radiohead played here at the start and they have comedy nights here too. Fab Oxford boozer.
Lovely lunch, very dog friendly, excellent sticky toffee pudding only down side the benches outside were a bit wobbly
ABSOLUTE AND UTTER JOKE! The food took 80mins to arrive and the drinks 30mins. The place was half full and all the staff could say was that the order was next in line. Avoid!
Relaxing atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is out of this world
Great atmosphere in here in a Friday night.
Really great food looked amazing.lovley staff and great atmosphere
God menu but incredibly slow service
I went here for a meal and drink yesterday with a friend and Ive already planned to return! Atmosphere was good, staff friendly, food + drinks were delicious and they really followed covid guidelines, which is a big bonus.
Make you wait 1.5 hours for your food and instead of apologizing try to argue that it was an hour and 15 mins not 1.5 hours
The Jericho is known for its Sunday roasts in Oxford but during COVID they arent doing them but they havent felt the need to put that on their website so you book a table and are stuck with a burger, the only thing they offer at the moment. Their burgers are phenomenal but its not what I wanted and I was disappointed that what I did want wasnt available and I didnt know. I wouldnt go back.
In this tavern Radiohead were born.thank you.
Great music, good vibes
Terrible, takes 2 hours and still not have my food
Most lovely sunday roast Ive possibly ever had! Plenty of food and flavour it was really special. Took some friends here who were visiting and it gave them a great first impression of Oxford for sure, its food to be proud of.
Very nice food and atmosphere
More cream. Much more cream please.
Great for a quiet pint
At first I was unsure it was going to live up to expectations because I couldnt see Thom Yorke or Gaz in there, which is why I visited. However, after scanning the lovely array of jazzy seating I spotted Thom disguised as a man with a beard ordering a cosmopolitan. Made my day.
Card only - no cash
Solid food, nice decor, good selection of beers and a big garden with covered seating. Staff seem happy to work there.
Amazing food, everything our party of 6 had was tasty. The only downside was the small chip portions. I would highly recommend the Sloppy Jalopy burger and the Amok Curry.
Great pub slightly off the usual tourist track. Stopped by for bite after returning a rented bike up the street (did 20 miles along the canal path to work up an appetite). The interior is surprising large with a contemporary British pub feel. Theres also a wonderful outside sitting area in the back (The Garden). The staff is friendly and welcoming (a rare trait). Someone actually asked how my food was. I spent 8 straight days eating in Great Britain pubs and that was a first. The menu is classic bar food with a modern touch. I recommend the dirty fries. Good selection of brews too. The prices are reasonable and the food tasty. Well worth the extended walk.
Very helpful staff.
Their burger is fine
This is a proper pub. It was busy when I arrived, and one of the guys behind the bar was checking to see if two new barrels were ready to serve. He wouldnt be hurried, and when I got my pint of Landlord it was lovely!
Amazing service & food!
Food was excellent as was the service, just a shame we could only spend a few hours there because of covid and the need of the table for other bookings.
Just had a takeaway burger and it was absolutely perfect!!
Decent chicken pie
Nice venue, great service and decent beer selection. Food is awesome and their beer garden is an oasis.
Ive never had a bad experience in this pub, always have a good beer selection on tap.
Lovely meal
I stopped to have dinner here. They have a selection of beers that is different from the usual you find in chain pubs. We had some burgers and they were tasty, with good portions. I really liked the decoration and atmosphere of The Jericho Tavern. They have an outside area to enjoy the sunny days. I would love to go back if I ever visit Oxford again.
Really good burgers, would reccomend.
What a great pub/ venueReally enjoyed seeing Adam Barnes and Joe Hicks here with my friend. Loved my Gin and tonic cocktail tasted really good. Loved the way theyd done the place up it had a real charm about it
Brilliant independent pub. Great range of craft beers and excellent food menu with lots of dirty vegan options - nachos, dirty fries, etc. Garden is dog-friendly - not sure about indoors, though. Would love to catch some live music here.
Nice ambiance, super staff
Really good service, very covid safe. Good food.
Lovely proper pub. Excellent food and service by friendly staff. Had a great Christmas dinner with family from Australia. Recommended.
A great little pub. Despite being slightly less on food the staff were friendly and all expectations were met. Would recommend for a beverage.
Good pub with a large upstairs room for Jericho Comedy / plays / Radioheads first gig.Wide selection of beers, spirits, and ciders and definitely has thar free-wheeling Jericho vibe that keeps Jericho bohemian.Oh, and a variety of Veggie / Vegan burgers including pretend meat ones.
Sorry, great staff and a great pub. However, called in this afternoon and ordered a chicken Caesar salad at around 14.10. Was told there would be approx a 30minute wait, fair enough, its a Sunday and its busy. By 14.50 food still not arrived. Staff were great and went to check. Told it wouldnt be long, by 15.05 it still hadnt arrived so asked for a refund. Chap behind the bar was great, lots of apologising. However, Id run out of patience and being Oxford run out of parking! If food is going to take that long, let the customers know, offer a free drink or stop taking orders and deal with the backlog. Great shame, as the food I saw coming out looked excellent. Ill give it a few months and try again. Things happen, I accept that.
Nice place well thought out for covid separation, but disappointing food. Great staff though.
Nice cosy bar, normally bustling. Frequent shows and comedy nights in the upstairs venue. Fairly good selection of beer. Food is good although not a huge choice for veggies and a little on the pricey side. Service at the bar is often slow at busy periods.
Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Good selection of beers. Food was tasty, well presented and served in excellent time. Surprised I had to pay a small extra charge to change my fries to chunky chips. Price itself not an issue, I would just like it to be a free option offered to customers.
Very nice pub located on one of the most popular streets in town. Love the garden outside which is amazing on summer evenings. A must visit if you are in Jericho
One of the key venues of the Shoegaze scene! Ride began life as a band here. So much music heritage. Just needs some pictures on the wall of live performances, thats the thing thats missing
Good beer, good food, reasonable prices. The usual drinks options are teamed up with some guest beers, which is nice. The prices are a little high though. The food is good. Its typical bar food: burgers, bar snacks, fish & chips and the like. Ive had their beer & burger deals once or twice and have been happy. Their bar snacks are good, but could be a little cheaper and then wed likely order more.Fun environment, happy staff.
They say the first Radiohead gig ever was at this Tavern. One day Ill stop by to see if theyre still there...+++++++In the meantime, The Jericho Tavern answered the review, but it seems to be a sort of automatic answer, which doesnt refer in any way to what I had previously published.Nevertheless, Jericho Tav, you dont have to appologise in any way, since I wasnt expecting any answer from you in the first place. That was not the purpose of my comment.See ya one day!
Great music venue upstairs on Monday and Thursday. Ambient and friendly pub downstairs. Great garden with plenty of seating used in all weathers - suntraps in summer, shelters and heated in winter. Excellent menu brilliant chef - tapas, shared platters etc. Would thoroughly recommend. All ages made very welcome by young and friendly bar staff.
My local pub closest to work. Nice outside area that have heaters, and the new interior is really warm and cozy. Food is really good for the price, as you would expect the quality to be average pub grub - but its much nicer.
Very helpful staff, great burgers
Poor - we booked a table for 9pm, so fairly late. Really hard to order food at the bar as very busy,. and once got to the front was told almost every item on the menu was finished, even though the billboard outside said it was still available. We didnt stay and wasted precious drinking and eating time! Things happen but its fairly easy to let people know on arrival. Advise to avoid eating there on weekend nights.
Lovely place with fabulous staff and the food was amazingly good
Excellent beer in interesting community of Oxford. Lively later Im sure
Decent beers nice looking clientele good vibes what more could you want. Music was 💩💩 however wasnt major as was enjoying time with my pals
Very good hamburgers and a friendly service
Very nice place to meet and very good food. Especially after the make over is one.of.my favourite places in Jericho, Oxford. Love it!
Good pub with selection of vegan food on offer. Great venue upstairs for acts with lovely staff too.
Great friendly pub with good selection of food and drink. Good music venue.
We’ve been here a few times. Food is usually very good. Nice garden area and this pub has a nice and fun overall vibe.
On Christmas Eve we were far from home. The Jericho Tavern offered us an excellent experience and made us feel extremely comfortable and cared for. There was a problem with the tab and they took full responsibility. Excellent place either to eat or just to have a drink, having fun with some board games.
