Scarrow Meats has been a staple of custom butchering in the Magic Valley for a long time. Have always had my custom orders done correct and quick. They also have an awesome storefront. It might seem expensive but you get the quality you pay for. Would recommend.

We live 1.5 hours away and take all our beef and hogs to them. Great German sausage, jalapeño cheese sausage…bacon is real good (cook is slow) Hams are moist and very flavorful. My steers have always been cut to my specifications and they vacuum pack…If I had one complaint it would be that they use to much packing material and it takes up more room in our freezer.

Best meat in the Magic Valley and well worth the trip. Customer service is awesome. See you guys again next month.

Were have a friend who worked their. He said they steal meat from their customers for their own consumption. We brought in 4H cows and got back uneditable meat. They are frauds. Do not go there.

Worse company I have ever done business with. Took advantage of my family for their own personal financial gain. Back in October my family order a beef from Scarrow Meats in Jerome Idaho. When we received the beef it was bad and could not be consumed. When I called Scarrow Meats they were very helpful and apologetic and the owner Don stated I will do whatever I can to make it right. We decided to wait until he could butcher another beef . We were told it would be a 6 weeks. After constantly calling an asking when we would receive our beef and asking for a refund of $2300.00 we paid we finally picked up our beef today 3 months later. While unpacking the boxes we saw we received two boxes of dog bones this we suspect was to make up weight because they otherwise did not want to give to us human consumable beef. When I called to ask about the dog bones the secretary stated it was on our invoice for dog bones. Sure is a funny thing we received not 1 (one) dog bone when we received the bad meat the first time. This is not a honest company that can be trusted on the owners words alone. If you do business with this company I would suggest you ask for any promises in writing and make sure you get what you ordered. Scarrows has made up jerky with my deer and ground burger and sausage from our elk. The quality is good and the turn time is reasonable. Their meets for sale are well priced and tasty.

Don personally cut my Elk up for me over Labor Day weekend so I could get home for my wedding anniversary. Ive used Scarrows for years they are top notch. The packaging lasts for years, the cuts are perfect, they are timely and pricing is fair. The sausages are amazing. Don will get your meat in the cooler regardless of the time of day which provides excellent peace of mind when you have a hard earned elk on the ground and its going to be 90 degrees the next day. Don his wife and his crew are top notch!!!

Absolutely wonderful customer service! I worked with Julie and Don and they were always on top of it. Easy process to get cuts requested and pickup set. They even helped load the trailer with the meat! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Was surprised to find anything but 5 star reviews here. My wife and I took an elk in during archery season last year and they provide exceptional service. They met us on the weekend, hung out and chatted with us, did great work on the meat (tagged it so you know it’s yours) and the sausages turned out fantastic. 5 hour round trip here from my hunting area and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Great family establishment

This meat is AMAZING! The meat falls off the bone and is so juicy. The bacon is so flavorful and is not over salty. We will definitely order from here again. I would HIGHLY recommend you try it because once you do, you will NEVER buy from anywhere else again!!!

After reading the reviews I have mixed feelings about this place. Ive only used them a few times and the few times I have their service has been good. Although I did feel for the 1500 lb beef we only got 600 lbs back. I dont know if thats normal but we felt we should have received more. Now I dont know where to go?

First let me say that Mr scarrow was polite throughout this process. We took a half hog in dispute years of rumors that they never gave you your own meat and instead simply tossed random into boxes to fill your estimated order. I can say I believe this more now. None of our hams or bacon were smoked or cured at all. The rest of the meat was pretty nasty but cant say for sure thats on them who knows. I know the people that got the other half were pleased with theirs. I was offered to have it replaced and that kinda tells me what I need to know about the operation.. We didnt get enough back to be our hog and what we did get was all wrong so wont be back.

Where shall I start.... not a trustworthy place to take your hard earned, expensive, home grown meat.Anytime a butcher has a place to sell meat at their counter is probably not a good sign.I had several people tell me not to go here, but I ignored them.Last fall we took our 1500+ lb beef and specifically talked to him stating our concern about the rumors. He reassured us thats all they were, rumors. We tried this place BC our usual local butcher was overbooked and our steer needed hung, he was finished and ultrasound graded him Prime grade.So, when we picked up our meat, I feel that we probably only got 2/3 of it. Not only did we not get all our own beef, but received other, lower graded, beef. We had all sorts of shades of aged meat. I know we have different beef because you can most definitely taste it in our ground beef.With the ground beef, we asked for extra lean and we got maybe 50/50. Whenever I cook with it, I drain 1 1/2 soup cans full of fat/grease.Needless to say we will never return, which is unfortunate because they have fantastic turkeys for thanksgiving dinner.

We bought a Hog and had it Processed here.The amount of Meat that we received seemed a bit short.I didnt say anything, but my eyes were opened when I went on a Hog Hunt in Arizona, and I shot a Hog close to the same Weight of the Hog we had Purchased.Even with giving Our Neighbors half of the Hog from my Hunt, we still had twice as much Meat than what we got from the Purchased Hog!Very Dishonest Operation, and I now know where they get the Meat that they sell. 😠

We have never been overly satisfied with the meat we have gotten back from Scarrows, but we love to support our local 4-H. When you buy an animal at the fair they send if all to Scarrows for processing. Against our better judgment we decided to give them another try. They didnt even label stuff correctly. Out of the 7 packages of steaks we have opened so far 3 have been miss labled. One package of TBones was actually a chuck roast Two other packages of TBones were short ribs. It is really irritating when you take aomething out of the freezer to thaw and get home at night ready to make dinner and if isnt what you had planned.Unfortunately we will no longer be supporting your 4-H because we will not pay to have our meat processed by Scarrows again.

Unbelievable customer service...processed my elk fast so I could get home to Vermont for my 10th anniversary. Don and his wife are great. Don met me on a Sunday in order to preserve the meat and had it processed in 4 days with 20 lbs of jalapeño cheddar sausage! This is the second great experience I’ve had here highly highly recommend. Bonus...they vacuum seal the meat I’m still eating my elk they processed from last season and the seals have lasted!

I brought my pig here to get butchered and packaged told them what cuts I wanted. They ignored me and gave me random cuts and it doesn’t even seem like I got all my meat. I’ve heard from multiple friends that this is a terrible place to bring your meat

I brought in about 20 lb. of venison to be ground into burger meat. It was de-boned and everything. She told me it would only take a few days. That was almost 2 months ago. Everytime I call I get excuses or they say theyll look for it and call me back when they find it, but they never call back. Pretty sure they just lost it. Dont use this place.

Do a fabulous job. Always done when and how promised. I always kind of giggle at the comments that meat is switched I wonder how people know that. Our meat is always tender and extremely good.

Real honest people, who take care of their customers and their needs. We drive an hour and a half out of our way to go to Scarrows, vs using some of our local Butcher shops. Their facility is clean, neat and tidy even with remodel, compared to some local shops. They are awesome people who do awesome work to please the customer, along with producing the best meat cuts that are so tender and juicy. We will be lifelong customers, because of their service!

Would not recommend this place to anyone. Takes them 6 weeks to get your deer done in archery season. I took a 123 lb deer an I didnt get close to the amount of meat back that I should have. Customer service is terrible to say the least.

Great people to work with

My parents warned us not to use Scarrows due to an issue they had several years ago, but I figured wed give them a second chance because we really used to like them. We waited too long to book a date with who we usually use, and Scarrows happened to have an opening, so we took it. I feel we received the quantity of meat that we should have, which I know people have complained about, however Im not so sure we received our own meat. We took in a young heifer, and some of the hamburger we have opened has a terrible smell and taste as if it is either an old holstein or maybe even some of the dried meat from it hanging was not cut off but just ground in. Some of our hamburger packages have been really good like we would expect, but we just never know until we thaw it what were going to get. Im glad they were able to get us in when our usual butcher was not, however Im very disappointed in this and will not be using them again.

Had to update this review. Cuts werent as I we hoped for. The amount of meat returned to us in my opinion is light to say the least. We have butchered our own meat back home. We just dont have all the hands and tools we had access to here in Idaho. So we know how much meat we should have returned to us. Roasts are just flat steaks about 3 thick... we will look for another butcher shop in the future.......

Made a delivery there and purchased some hot dogs and they where delicious Ill go back.

Do not use this place! We did not get all of our meat once again and they are very hard to deal with if you have an issue! We have used them in the past and were not satisfied then either. Never again!

For those wanting quality products from their hunts, highly recommend Scarrows. Well worth the drive.

Just ordered my 3rd smoked ham. The first 2 hams were the best hams my family had eaten in 10 years.

We have always enjoyed our meat from Scarrows. If there have been any inconsistencies with the product they have been super willing to make it right.

Going on 3 months waiting for completion of my order that was supposed to take under one week. My weekly calls are met with excuses and a promise to call me back. The calls going un-returned and Im very concerned that they have lost my order.
