I brought my Ibanez traveling acoustic guitar in to be restrung and have the fret board cleaned. I was greeted just moments after entering and an employee was soon helping me choose some new strings and getting me set up at the register. It was already around 2pm, so they said, if it were finished that day, that it’d be pretty close to 7pm (closing time). And they said I’d get a text message when it was ready for pick up. Well, I got the text message less than 2 hours later! They did a wonderful job cleaning the fret board, and the new strings sound great! Very helpful staff over there. I think it was like $37 for both the new strings and the cleaning/restringing.

I went in there thinking it was a larger store. They mostly have guitar and drum stuff. However they did surprisingly have a selection of oboe reeds. I ended up buying a hard Reed and the guy at the register was very polite and interested in my professional career. I like supporting small businesses like this, especially music stores.

The guys and gals at Ernie Williamson Music have been absolutely kind and helpful. In 2019 my son decided he would like to play guitar. When we needed strings, cords, stands, other accessories and parts/service, the guys were super to us. They treated my son in like he was already a musician (and kind of like a little brother) and helped him understand some basics that gave him confidence that he could play and be good at it. These guys sell us stuff we need but they have played a part in helping my son to be a better musician. However small that part is they play it well and we appreciate it. No question, we will continue to be return customers at Ernie Williamson Music. Keep up the good work!

When i came in the store it was very easy to Navigate on your own, a store clerk did approach me he was very nice, friendly and insightful. He even engaged in personal one on one conversation about music, which was very Great!! You dont get that at many places you go anymore. The prices are very reasonable and will be back for anything else i may need.

My daughter’s been taking music lessons here for a few months and has improved immensely. She is taking lessons for the Ukulele. We arrive a few minutes before each lesson and she likes looking at all the instruments available. We purchased her a new Ukulele that she loves along with a new bag and strap.

I came here to look at some violin resin. Didnt think i was going to buy anything, I was just looking around at prices. The lady that helped me was very very sweet and very helpful. She answered my questions and gave me some recommendations/tips on what resin to get. Their resin was very cheap, so I ended up buying it. Amazing service and very nice people! I would recommend to anyone looking for instruments or accessories for instruments.

I dont believe they make sales commissions, other wise they would try to sell you stuff; instead they give you their honest opinion on their products and services that best fit you. If Im not mistaken. When I was a kid Ernie Williamson use to be in Main & mainly delt with instruments for the schools. So we stuck with Bob Masseys. So I never came into the store until most the other music stores closed. But now Ernie Williamson is my go to. Buy & sold instruments & gear at Ernies & more than happy with the staff that are always helpful & knowledgeable. Just now am I starting to bring my gear & guitars for repairs & upkeep. Dropped a Marshall TSL/JCM 2000 for repairs & its a scary feeling leaving nice far from cheap gear with a technician that one knows nothing of. But feel positive & have faith all will be well. If the guys in back are like the guys on the floor in front then they will have my business & loyalty for all the rest of my days. 5 star store. & Hats off to James behind the counter. Great guy, always has answers that Im in need of about how tos & shouldnt dos. 👍

Ernie Williamson Music is a good place to go! I just went there 5 minutes ago and they got some good service! I didnt know how to tune or rosin my violin and this polite cashier was very knowledgeable and a real gentleman. He taught me things that was really helpful. And did everything for me even though he didnt have too, but he did. Thats some good service! And kind people. So yeah! He hooked me up. Evengave me a free rosin. They are the best! I recommend going to this place! 🤩💖

If it worked out, I was going to take some guitars in for a set-up as well.1) Not a single mask (employee or customer) was worn in the store. 2) No employee asked if I needed help. 3) They have a poor selection of amps.This was my first and itll be my only visit to this place.

Helpful without being pushy. If they dont have it, theyll order it and match online prices. I bought my drum set, amp, and 2 ukuleles there plus countless accessories, including a Music Nomad string changing kit that has paid for itself many times over. Buy local. Brick and mortar music stores are vital for repairs, etc. plus its important to me to try out an instrument or amp before buying. One cant do that online.

I was greatly disappointed. I have been coming to this store in Joplin for years and have stayed with them even though i could get stuff cheaper from the web. This last time i brought my guitar in to have the strap fixed this was my primary issue. I also get new strings put on because of my floyd rose. After a week i called them and asked about it, they said not done but they will call me. Ok. 2 more weeks go by, no text or call. So I give in again and call. The guy gets on the phone and says oh ya we will have that done by the end of the day. I pickup my guitar get it home, and realized that they never fixed my strap.Update!! The manager made things right and was very professional and went over the top to keep me as a customer. I thank him and he has reassured me well enough that this music store will still be my primary source of quality equipment. Thank you for caring. 5 stars!

They have a very knowledgeable staff and everyone is friendly.I enjoy coming here. My one complaint from giving them 5 stars is that they never having anything Im looking for. Really kind of sad since its the only decent music store in Joplin.

I bought some instruments at a megastore AKA Guitar Center. I wish I would have taken my business to Ernie Williamson music to start. The people at Guitar Center did not offer to tune the instruments knowing I have never played before. They tried to sell me on a $50 setup. When I went in Ernie Williamson not only did they help tune my instrument for free but they also pointed me in the direction of a digital tuner so I could learn about this process myself. All of my future purchases for instruments strings chords and such will be at Ernie Williamson Music.

Ive paid off my daughters instrument early but there were times that I would let my payments laps for a few months but they were always courteous and patient and that meant allot to me Im not always on time but it will get paid. So I want to tell you guys at Ernie Williams thanks for your business and being so understanding.

My daughter and I had a great experience today at the Joplin store. We brought her Trombone in for service and the young man helping us today happened to be a brass player. She asked about some things she was having trouble with and he gave her some great tips to help her out. He was so respectful and treated her like a peer player. We walked out of the store feeling really good!! I am starting guitar lessons this week and I am sure I will have the same great feeling about the people at this store.

I rented to own my daughters violin. paid it off and then she quit playing. after 2 years of it sitting not being used we went back to see what our options were on trading it in. we walked out with the second best ukulele they had and a bunch of accessories. Ive shopped with Ernie Williamsons Joplin store for my basic supplies for years (strings, straps, picks, cords, etc.). They have a great selection of quality equipment and guitars. However, Ive never felt compelled to write a review until today. I stopped in to look at my first Taylor brand acoustic. I dealt with a salesperson named Jerrod (at least thats what the receipt said... Im terrible with remembering peoples names). He was excellent. The store was full of people but he still kept going back and forth to the storeroom to grab yet another guitar for me to look at. He even stayed past closing time and didnt rush me at all. I walked away with a beautiful 214ce-k Taylor acoustic. Definitely recommend to musicians looking for high quality gear.

I get all of my musical instrument needs met at Ernie Williamson Music. Im a forty-five year plus career musician. Ive been a customer of theirs since the sixties, when they had the store on the Carthage Square.The staff there are not just customer service reps, most are accomplished musicians themselves. So youre in very capable hands. And they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I dont go anywhere else.

It’s a good spot to browse gear. Fair and often flexible prices especially this holiday season. I just picked up an amp and some Xmas gifts. Staff is helpful and attentive when needed, but also quick to give you space to really focus on the feel and sound of the gear you’re considering.
