My husband and I bought a car here two years ago, so now that its time for me to upgrade my car, we came here first. We got my car appraised here and even though the offer was fantastic, we got a higher offer elsewhere. However, CarMax was super helpful and kind during the whole appraisal process, just like when we bought a car two years ago. They dont currently have anything in stock that I really like, but I am watching their inventory regularly and would never hesitate to purchase my next car here.

However, if you want to sell your vehicle to CarMax, and you give accurate facts and details online, then take your vehicle in for a physical appraisal, the buy-quotes will match. The traffic to Mason Road, travelling I-10 west of Beltway 8, was heavy on Tuesday evening between 6-7 pm. You will be happy when you leave with your bank draft check and/or signed car note payment arrangements in hand. Bring a bag or two for any little items and your license plates. Be prepared to order a Lyft or have a ride home. After buying some vehicles, CarMax is ready to feature special beauties with a bow for sale.

This is the place to trade and buy a car. I worked with Angela in Cypress she was absolutely amazing and super patient.Before you trade, do the trade in online. They’ll make you an offer. Then they’ll inspect your car once you get there and make sure they offer is legit. Once that is approved they solidify the final offer. They definitely confirmed and kept their word.I purchased another car. It had 15k miles. They have awesome vehicles. An immense variety. This is the place to go.
Worst service ever! I took my car in to fix a belt. While my car was in the shop it was hit. They did not return the car back to us in the same condition. Paint job looks like someone tried to buff it and scratched it. Will, the service Manager, says it is up to their standards. We can either keep it or return it. They will not fix it. Their standards must be pretty low!
CarMax Katy is a good place to buy used cars. A big shout for the Sales Manager Mr. Godwin, A man who honor his word, polite and trustworthy. Also Sales Consultant Mr. Dave is a very nice honest person. You sure can rely on these people.

This is the second vehicle I have sold to CarMax, and the service is above standard. I had one price in mind that I wanted to sell for, and was offered $600 above the price I had in mind. I was skeptical at first. I just thought “it’s an average used car lot that’s going to try and wheel and deal me”. But that wasn’t the case at all! Everyone was so very nice I left with a great deal on a great car and it was exactly what I was looking for. I paid a lot less for the exact same car that I was going to buy from the Porsche dealership. Kerry was my salesperson. It was easy and fast without the “fast talk”. I have purchased cars in the past and spent the whole day at the dealership. I got to the dealership around noon and I was done at 3:30.
Best car buying experience of my life!I’m 69 years old and was a Ford/Lincoln parts guy from 1970 until 2009, been in and around car dealerships most of my life, as my father was a Ford parts manager during my childhood.The CarMax buying experience, for used vehicles is absolutely like no other.Remarkably smooth, painless and actually quite pleasant!I do admit that I had already thoroughly researched and shopped 17-19 Lincoln Continental Reserve models and knew exactly what I wanted.Every step of the buying process was easy and pleasant. Test drive, sit down, closing, finance and final drive away.These guys have this dialed in.
Fast and straight-forward appraisal online. Easy check-in with appointment. Waiting area and facility are very nice and clean with plenty of room. Final checks and confirmation of appraisal took a little longer than expected but there were lots of people there so we didnt mind. The rest of the process to selling your car was quick and easy - less than 20 minutes and we got our check. Overall, our experience was excellence and the prices offered was very fair. The staffs were the best - friendly, professional, and work efficiently. Would definitely sell our next car with CarMax.
Horrible experience I was racially profiled and given the run around please do not shop with this company they will waist your time and money also pictures are not accurate if shopping online!!!!! Do not believe the curbside pick up it’s a gimmick to make you pay money you still have to go through a nasty long process!!! Agents are in knowledgeable and has no compassion for waisting your time !!! This store serves a lot of Attitude. The folks working there...with the exception of the Appraisal Dept was horrible.I, was ready to buy CASH, the Sales person Quincy Said his manager said thar Carmax payoff was not enough, I, needed to get the original Title.. which had not been mailed to me yet.I, took all my paperwork to Merceded Ben if Houst and walked out with a Merceded + they accepted my Appraisal from Carmax and my Payoff paper work.

The customer service I received here was top notch. I highly recommend the Katy freeway location. I initially went to the gulf freeway location and they didn’t honor my reservation and were selling the car as I arrive for my appointment. The people at the Katy location were very accommodating and made the process of buying a car painless.
Derek Waybright who was my sales guy was simply amazing super helpful went out his way to assist me and found me exactly what I was looking for . Derek stayed in contact with me everyday had my car shipped to me and made sure everything went smoothly. Very positive attitude he listened to everything I said even in detail about the kind of seats I wanted He is your guy look for him he the best Thank you Derek .Now In regards to the Business Office just terrible 🤬 rude … rude … and just disrespectful. Just complete disregard for people and their time you got people just standing around running they mouth without a care in the world For people waiting to sign there documents so they can get home, I even ask how long it would take one of ladies working actually yelled “She gone have to wait” and goes back to her conversation the absolute worst . Don’t get me wrong there was some employees who were great and had people out the door fast but more than a hand full need to take a training class immediately. Im not even gone get started on having to go back because my paperwork wasn’t right. Other than the business office everything else was great 😊
Representative forgot our paperwork on the desk and moved on to other people. We arrived at 6 and left at 10 because of this mistake on their end. When they finally finished the paperwork and everyone was gone and they were closed, the check was written to a completely different person. The manager Tonia had to come over to help but was dismissive with a quick Im sorry about that and went on doing what she was doing. This experience was very upsetting and disappointing. We will not be recommending or returning to this location.
Had a great experience selling my car. It was very easy and stress-free!
I started my search on line. Found the car I wanted. And ordered it. I had to pay to get it shipped from Corpus Christi to Houston. Which is only about a three hour drive, it took a week. They claimed it was due to their 150 point check of the car. I got the car and had to replace the batteries in both remotes as well as the windshield wiper blades. On day 2 the change oil message appears on my dash. I took the car back to service the oil change and to get the paint that was repaired by them ( in the wrong color ) repaired. So far it has been 11 days in the shop. There will be no charge and I was given a loaner. But the entire process deflated the experience of buying a car.

They made me call and add the vehicle to my car insurance in order to take the car home. I called right in front of the sales representative and had them fax the insurance binder with new insurance card over and they still incinituated that I lied about adding the car my insurance. Definitely felt offended today by that.How did I lie about adding the car to my insurance when they faxed over the information and I called in front of sales representative.
I wish I can give this place a 5star. The vehicle Selection is really good..but for me the car service is what gets me on how kinda expensive things can really get & the other down side they don’t lend you a Rental. If you have other plans for the rest of the day to take care of or just to go home besides waiting at CarMax for 4/5 hours just for brakes or a oil change if they are super busy
Not greeted or acknowledged walking in. Walked around still no eye contact or asking if I needed help with a vehicle. And I stopped at 4 different vehicles for awhile.Recently dealing with a car accident and have limited time to get a replacement vehicle before I have to go to work and to see staff sitting or on their phones while Im walking the lobby or the lot. Nah Ill just go and take my money elsewhere.Seriously disappointed

Extremely unhappy with the customer service at this location, walked in at around 2pm, was told that it was an hour wait to speak with a sales rep. The person at the front desk then added me to the so called “ list “ asked for my full name and phone number and was told I would get a call once someone was ready for me and I could walk around. At 5PM !!!!!!! I went back to the front desk and asked the person there how much longer the wait would be and I was told my name was never added to the list !!!!!!! And that someone in that Is currently in the bathroom might be ready for me once they come out!! Three hours waiting there for now reason !!!!! I came in with the intention. Of purchasing a car (since I needed to have a car by monday) and instead left empty handed with not even an apology.

They were missing a lot of cars this time. The car lot was pretty empty. So not much to choose from. You can order cars from other states but it will cost you. Some of the salesmen are a little pushy but for the most part the experience was okay.
Jason was phenomenal and made sure that I left happy. He even saved me more money than I anticipated and my goodness what a lifesaver he was. If you’re looking for a vehicle, just ask for Jason and you’re in the best hands possible!!

It was heavy rain on Monday the 12th July at around 2:00 pm when we entered CarMax at Katy. We had already reserved the truck we wanted and had already decided to trade our old truck. The staff at reception were friendly and checked us in. Due to the heavy rain the showroom was packed with people. Luckily we got Ibrahim as our sales consultant. Ibrahim chkd the vehicle we had reserved, wore his rain coat and went running in the rain to get the truck we reserved. We were out of the showroom within two hours with new truck, this included trading in our old truck purchasing the new truck and doing all the paperwork.Thank you Ibrahim and Thank you CarMax.
Took my car for an oil change and made the mistake of asking them to check the battery. Never did they tell me that it would include a charge of $80 for doing that. The service guy even called me and Said I would be better off getting the battery elsewhere since their’s only comes with a 12month warranty.

I found a car from an online catalog. I reserved the car, and was contacted by a rep from carmax by text. I would have appreciated a phone call especially since the text was extremely vague. In fact, it felt like fraud. But anxious about the car I selected, i got back with the texter. It was a real human who ended up taking an interest in facilitating my purchase. That felt good after the coldness of a recent carvana experience. I set an appointment with an in person sales facilitator at the dealership almost walking distance from where i live. The facilitator was a good listener, friendly, articulate and therefore “professional”. I have shopped at several dealerships up and down the katy freeway over the years and I proclaim the carmax experience my absolute favorite.

This is a great way to sell cars. It is streamlined and there is no stress involved. They didnt have the car I wanted but it was great.
Initially - HORRIBLE. We had the vehicle transferred from TN to Houston. We asked the dealership to let us know when they were done cleaning it so that we could come see it. After about a week, they called. We went to go see it, they hadn’t even STARTED to clean it. We gave them a list of things that we found were broken or needed repair and what needed to be cleaned. Told them to call us when it was done. We couldn’t get the initial sales guy to return a call, email or text. The excuse ‘my phone has t been working’. What millennials phone doesn’t work for three weeks? Exactly - none. I got so aggravated I went to the dealership and told the manager what the deal was. I essentially said ‘I’m trying to pay you $46K for a vehicle, and the sales guy won’t call me back!’ That got corrected. BUT - even after having the truck for almost a MONTH - the initial items that we had pointed out initially, still haven’t been taken care of.Do you really know how maddening that is? Did anyone even listen to our concerns???Jason Smith was the second sales man and has done well with us and for us. Benjamin - the incredibly polite, sweet young man that finalized all of our paperwork was also extremely helpful. If it wasn’t for those two men, we would’ve purchased somewhere else. A month is WAY too long, especially when we had the vehicle SENT to the dealership so we could purchase it.

Had a bad experience with carmax. I looked for car to buy and decided to try carmax. Spent several hours to select the right car that addresses all my criteria and it was clearly stated $99 for transfer from one city to my location, so I decided to order it. Day after, I got a call from carmax representative and asked usual set of questions and I found out at the end that transportation fee is $2000 and it was wrong in the website (representative couldn’t explain me how it happened). First experience and so disappointment

I called the customer service line to see if I could sell my car without an updated registration, since I haven’t driven the car in a year. They told me not to worry and to bring it in. After waiting a couple hours, they came to me at the very end of the paperwork only to tell me they could buy it because of the registration. The manager was not very helpful and basically said it is what it is. I get a mistake, but not the way they reacted to it.

I searched for weeks to find the right commute car. I found it Saturday and had it reserved for Monday at Carmax. I had a finite amount of time when I finally made it there (I stopped at some other dealerships on the way). I Test drove the 2018 Ruby fire red Chevy Cruze, loved it and purchased it. I was by myself when I purchased it (The dealership is 1 hour away, 4 hours traveled total) so the salesman just told me to park it in the customer lot.So I took my son to a Dr. apt back where I live right when the sale was completed. I bought at 1:15, I got back at 7:15. A Carmax employee apparently hit the bumper of my car, bad enough to dent not only my bumper but dent my trunk in. From the looks of it, its all cosmetic. They ended up doing a total refund to the lender (today.) Hopefully I can get a new check tomorrow.The worst part about it is they didnt even bother to check stock to see if the car was sold! I drove an hour with my wife and 2 kids to show them the new car, only to arrive to a wrecked vehicle.The next day I talked to Angela, the apparent GM. She stated to me that their compensation to me is CarMax taking liability IT WAS THEIR OWN EMPLOYEE THAT HIT THE CAR!! I told her I bought the car, Im still interested in the car. Take off TTL and Ill buy it once its fixed. She replied When the car is repaired, it will be valued and re-listedLong story short, I made 6 total 45 minute trips, 1 including my 14 day old son just to get this transaction complete. They didnt notify my when that the car was hit, so I showed up with my family looking like a fool. Sales blamed service, service blamed sales. Nobody showed remorse. Chris (assuming hes some sort of sales manager) and Angela (the apparent GM) did not care in the slightest bit. Even though I had purchased this car just hours before, I was told that I was lucky that it happened on their property, because if it happened across the street, it would all be on me to get the car fixed.... It was hit by a CarMax employee hours after purchase. Hence the word apparent GM. CarMax is usually my go to, but Im dumbfounded by how this place is ran. I would avoid it like the plague.
I was going to buy a nissan versa from a guy named chris, i signed paperwork for it and everything. the only thing i had to do was pay for the car. there was a strong cigarette smell which i told him about the day after my test drive, and he responded back but i wasn’t able to respond for a while because i’m a work. within 15 minutes of him responding to me, he texts me saying that someone else was looking at the car and that he deleted from my name for that other person. it was his way of forcing my hand to buy the car NOW. it was completely unprofessional and he was very rude

Fully approved online, sent in all paperwork 3 days prior with ten grand on-hand ready to put down, only to be kept waiting for over an hour past my appointment time. The ONLY reason this place isnt getting 1 star and a more detailed complaint is because Vic pulled through in the clutch. Vic was great. Hes very professional but so down-to-earth that it felt like wed already known each other. He turned a horrible experience completely around. Upper management, Vic earned all 5 stars for you and he deserves a ticket for each star to a sports game of his choice. Do the right thing!

And to top it all off the no hassle/ no haggle program to where the price you see is what you pay without the aggravation of trying to negotiate or waste any time getting to your end goal of driving the car you really want!!If anyone is uncertain or contemplating visiting a carmax, I truly hope you will see this and give it a chance!Ok, if it hadnt happened to us I dont think I would have believed this!While we took the car for the 24 hour test drive, we found that one of the tires had a small bump on it and a small bit of residual water from the cleaning process of there cleaning crew that had formed some growth in the trunk area of the Mini Cooper we are buying. Immediately upon bringing this to Mrs. Chakas attention she got with the manager and they swiftly and professionally took care of us and our wonderful new car with a brand new tire and a through cleaning of the trunk!We couldnt be happier with the amazing customer service we received here from Mrs. Chaka and her establishment!! 12/10 we will return here down the road and refer all our friends and family to come down and see them!!!
Everything about the visit was easy. From the moment I walked into the door, to when I met with my sales rep, Dave to my finance person, Benjamin. Another person Id like to give some credit to is Sean, who was the initial sales rep that I corresponded with over the phone to get me into the dealership. Everyone I came into contact with was very helpful.
I had an appointment at 7:30pm for a specific car I had my eye on. I arrive on time (it was a far drive) and when I get there they said i have to wait and potentially not be seen. When i asked why they do appointments if they are not going to honor them they told ME I SHOULD HAVE ANTICIPATED that they would have a long wait…? Make it make sense.

The staff at CarMax, including folks in Sales, the Business Office, and in Service, are all very professional and customer focused and go out of their way to make you feel welcome through the process. The sales process is straightforward and honest, no wheeling and dealing like you get in a traditional auto dealership. We had one minor defect (radio volume button) discovered after we picked up the car, and it was repaired in a few hours after we dropped the car at their service center. Highly recommended, and I know Ill go back next time we need a car.

Also he didnt take me to look at cars after we sat down, i think because he was annoyed I didnt want to jump into giving trade-in info etc.The receptionist guy was super nice and kept checking in with me while I waited and the rest of the staff seemed happy.I just dont understand the big deal with asking me for my trade in info and drivers license befire Ive seen a single car. I def wont be purchasing from that guy.

Awesome experience!! This review is long over due by 2 months. But CarMax is the way to go if your trying to buy a car. The Floor Sales Consultant and the staff there are very nice and try there best to meet your needs. I had the pleasure working with Dave Soodan a fellow sales consultant that did above and beyond to get my car in less than a week because my unit was deploying. And I didn’t really have a lot of information and nothing in my name to work with but he made it happen and I will never forget you. Thank you and God bless!!
