Lonnie is an old school mechanic. He has the knowledge and experience to get the car working through his ingenuity. I was in Key West for a Celebration of Life Ceremony. The gear shift cable was not working and I had the car towed to Lonnies. The part that was needed was not in stock anywhere in the Keys. Lonnie created a bushing for the gear shift cable and we were able to drive back to Miami. If it wasnt a three hour drive, i would have Lonnie care for my cars. We were on vacation in Key West, barely were able to get my vehicle to the resort on a Sunday. It was worse Monday morning and had to have it hauled, we chose Hensley Automotive. He fixed it by Wednesday and had us ready to go by our check out on Thursday. He even called that following Saturday to make sure wed made it home alright with the 16 hour drive. The top of our 2013 convertible Camaro needed to be replaced and our back seats were always damp to flooded at every rainfall. We brought the car to Lonnie who discovered the reason leading to this besides the top issue. He did an outstanding job in replacing the top and fixing the leak that caused the rain pour to penetrate inside the car on to the back seats (not related to the top issue...). When we picked up back the car it was like new! I can only very strongly recommend Lonnie Hensley for any automotive job. He really is top of the line. When was the last time the person who fixed your car called you back the next week to see if everything was OK? Right, me neither, but Lonnie called me the week after I picked up my Audi A5 convertible.He fixed the front skirt beneath the bumper that got torn up on a Bullard, and did some ding and dent repair that made my 2015 car look new again. He told me to wait, and save some money on the new convertible top as well!You dont get this kind of service from a typical auto and collision repair shop. In fact, Id day Lonnie is unique in providing this kind of thought and service. The cost was very reasonable. Thus is especially true if you have an imported vehicle, since its a long drive to the mainland. Highly recommended does not say enough!

I had an issue with the suspension on my Volvo C70. Being a “snow bird” in Key West, I had no idea of who to take my car to. After several calls to friends in the area Lonnie had the highest recommendation and for good reason. I called around to several repair shops and was told that they were booked for at least a week. I called Lonnie, described the problem and he knew what it was and told me to bring the car in the next day. He explained the issue, and told me how much it would be to fix it and that he could have it completed in a day. He was spot on. My wife and I were just driving into Key West for our vacation when the last few miles before getting to our location the notorious check engine light appeared on our 2013 Porsche Panamera. A few seconds after, a plethora of lights and warnings started appearing. We stopped at an Auto Zone store for a diagnostic and retrieved a P3042 code, cylinder #4 was apparently having a problem with being on vacation. :) After calling a few places who said it would take a minimum of 10 days to fix, I reached Lonnie Hensley Automotive. Lonnie explained he was very busy but after discussing the issue and our dilemma told me to bring the car in and hell see what he can do. After waiting just one day for parts, my #4 ignition coil and all six spark plugs were replaced (car has 153k miles). The whole process was professional from explaining everything and providing timelines that Lonnie stayed on top of the entire time. And to top all of that, Lonnie just called checking up to make sure there were no more problems. We need more Lonnie in this world. Be like Lonnie! Vacation saved!

We were camping on a different Key, and worried about how to get around without the car, but he was very understanding of our situation, INCREDIBLY helpful, and was able to replace my brake pads and even my rotors in just a few hours. We just rented bikes and explored Key West in the meantime (and also, the local bike shop owner said that they use Lonnie too, and hes fantastic)!I drove out the same day, and then later, all the way back home to Orlando without any issues. Lonnie knows what he’s doing, and he gets the job done quickly. I had my car towed over there, it wouldn’t start, when I jumped it, it did not seem to be getting gas. He fixed that, put four new tires on it, and replaced both outside rearview mirrors. And when he called me to tell me it was ready, an hour and a half before I was getting on a flight, was totally understanding about my not being able to get there, and hung onto my vehicle, at no extra charge, until I returned to town five days later. Ive been here twice now and I couldnt ask for better service and care. Each time Ive been in Lonnie has taken the time to walk me through and explanation of what is wrong, how they are going to try and fix it, and then done the work quickly and flawlessly. Hes helped with battery issues, paint jobs, bent rims and general engine/sensor issues. Everything has been taken care of fast and for a very reasonable price. Could not recommend this place enough.
Lonnie has been great with my car. A near total, and he got it done in reasonable time. He doesnt make promises he cant keep and he keeps the promises he makes. He keeps a clear line of communication. No need to call him for status on your vehicle. He will keep you posted and considers customer service a main priority. There is no way I can find to add a separate review; I must amend this one. I went in yesterday, almost at closing to see if they would be able to install an HVAC blower motor today. Even though it is not body work, they got the part and had it installed, by 4:00 today! Amazing! Twice, has my car been there, and both times, fast, and done right! Lonnie is very professional and understanding. Someone hit our car with a golf cart and left. We took it to Lonnie and he went thru the car to make sure everything was going to be back to new again without missing anything. Took a few days and the car looks amazing. Had s little wind sound that was not there before and took it back. He fixed it and its gone. Inside his office is amazing. Lots of beautiful art, and clean. Really clean. I hope I never need him again, but if I do, I will only let him and his crew do the work.

Very knowledgeable and helpful for all type of automobiles. On a recent trip to Key West my Mercedes convertible top refused to close properly and he went well beyond the call of duty to get me in immediately and solve the problem with no appointment thus saving my vacation. You wont find a place anywhere that will provide service like that anymore. He works on all sorts of vehicles including exotic vehicles and is one of the most knowledgeable mechanics that I have ever met. I could not recommend a better mechanic and body shop anywhere.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place, and I dont do that often. The short version: they saved our vacation. We found them to be thorough, prompt, very fair and reasonable with a repair that other shops were telling us might take a week.The longer version: knowing we needed to be back on the road asap to make our reservation in Miami, they did what they could without making any unrealistic promises. They called around town to locate the part we needed. They were very reasonable with the price, fast with the repair, yet thorough in the diagnosis and concerned throughout with our safety, not taking any shortcuts. They showed us exactly what was wrong on the car, and showed understanding for my concern as an out of towner unsure whom to trust. Within two and a half hours, we were back on the road.I dont say these things to create unrealistic expectations for others; they warned us that the repair (a broken tie rod end and ball assembly) could take a day or even two. I say this to show that they gave us a reasonable estimate given part shortages on the island and then worked hard to beat it. And they did.I dont know how you could hope to find better, fairer and more efficient service than youll find with Lonnie Hensley. These guys are great and I am very appreciative of what they did. I can’t say enough good things about the service I was provided by Lonnie Hensley Automotive. My new car was hit on the passenger side pretty badly, left with a nasty dent that left the passenger side door shut in and the backdoor wouldn’t close right exposing the interior of the vehicle to the elements. After much research and careful consideration I took my car in to their shop to have it quoted and worked on. I just got my car back and it looks amazing, as if nothing ever happened. Lonnies shop did a fantastic job on my BMW 135i. The price was considerably(!) less than two other body shops in Key West, I only had to wait a day or two to take the car in, and it was finished within two days. Most importantly, it was an amazing job that made the rear bumper look like new, even though it had been dented by someone parking by feel.It is also clear that Lonnie really loves what he does and takes great personal pride in doing a good job. Lonnie and his team are both amazing people and very professional. I always felt they had my best interest in mind no matter who I was speaking with. My 2013 Impreza was hit while parked in a lot. It had damage to the hood, bumper and a headlight/fog light; basically the entire driver side front end. Lonnie got my parts in within an impressive time (seeing as this is Key West) and was able to begin working on my car within days of obtaining a quote from him (which was very resonably priced). He contacted me to let me know that he found some small pre-existing damage which I declined to fix at this time but he did it any way free of charge! The car looks amazing and brand new again! My Kias front end bumper was damaged in a parking lot; I was referred to Lonnie for the repair and I was very pleased with the results. Lonnie Hensley Automotive is, hands down, the best auto shop on the island. A jack of all trades, this shop can handle everything from an oil change to totally rebuilding a historic T-Bird. Everyone on staff is always friendly and accommodating, squeezing me in on the schedule even when it seems there is no room, because my AC decided to crap out in the dead of summer. We live in Key West and needed body work done on both of our cars, a Lexus NX and a Kia Soul. After asking several of our friends, it was unanimous that we should go to Lonnie Hensley Automotive. We did that and met Lonnie, who spent time with us, explaining his process and showing us some of his completed work, which was excellent. He was patient with our questions and he understood our high standards. He gave us estimates for both cars and also a timeframe to do the work. Recently we drove or 1997 Sebring Convertible from Bucks County PA to Key West. During the trip, the front of the top began to pull away from the frame. After we arrived we brought the car to LH Automotive. These people could not have been any nicer, friendlier or accommodating. They took the car immediately and helped us with transportation for the afternoon. The car was fixed within a few hours, and the price was more than fair. What could have been a major headache actually turned into a pleasant experience and saved our vacation. We are now back in PA and can say the top performed flawlessly on the trip home. Lonnie Hensley Automotive did a fantastic job on my Kia. I took it to him to fix a leak coming from my windshield, the estimate was so affordable I also asked about fixing my sagging headliner. The job was done on time, he was able to match the fabric for the headliner perfectly and the seal around the windshield looks like it was done at the factory. To my surprise they also washed, waxed and cleaned the inside of the car. It has never looked better! I will be taking it back to have the chipped paint on the side-view mirrors fixed next. Dealing with this individual and his company was the worst experience I have ever had. Not only did he not fix my car, but he held it in his so-called shop for 2 weeks and upon paying my bill, the car broke down on US 1 whereby I had to get towed. He knows absolutely nothing about car engines. Even though he told me he did knew about engines, he misrepresented himself to me. He did absolutely nothing but try to troubleshoot. Finally, I had to take my car elsewhere where it was fixed within hours, not weeks. What a total waste and he did not want to refund my money. Dont waste your precious time or money with this guy.
