Ive been going here on and off for almost 2 years now I always find something new and interesting the me ever trip. The only problem Ive every had is the cop that likes to sit outside and tell people there closed when their not. But that is something the store cant help. You guys have always made me feel welcome.
I’m so happy to have an Asian market near me, they always have what I’m looking for or offer alternatives if I can’t find something.
Today I have a very bad experience shopping at your store. I was getting in line to check out at 1 register, but then the other cashier asked me to move to the next one so it’ll be faster. I was fine. Then I saw the sign “ box only” so i told him I can’t do boxes, can I have plastic bags. I am a CANCER patient. I’m very sick, I’m only 80 lbs. I live in an apartment with a long walk and stairs. Plastic bags will be easier for me to carry. They said they couldn’t give me bags. They said if I wanted bags, I have to move all of my $150 groceries to the next cashier otherwise i have to have the boxes. Please explain to me why they can’t give me plastic bags? Why you have to FORCE your customer to have box instead of bags? I don’t go out much because of my cancer. Today, I just go out 1st time in a while and thank you for ruin my day! I hope you all feel good about making such a sick person like me suffering all of this!
Large market with a lot of variety.Large fresh meat & seafood counter in the back. Many things are not priced or priced wrong and the store seems to be chaos. But Sunrise Supermarket does have a good flow once you figure out where stuff could be.The staff here is very friendly and helpful.
This is a very cool store, there are so many unique products to choose from, I will finally be able to try bitter melon which they had a ton of. The only things I could complain about is 1- the smell when you walk in, oh my GOD it’s rough, the other reviewers were not exaggerating, and 2- I wanted to buy something but the expiration date was from early 2020, when I said something to the cashier she said that it’s good for so many months after the exp date…no, no it’s not, some things are ok after a exp date, but other things I would not risk it, and of course she was still gonna try to sell it to me…full price! lastly 3- The fish tank full and I mean stuffed with live fish barley able to move around is frickin terrible! When I saw that I wanted to cry, I am vegetarian but I respect meat eaters all the same, but the world needs to learn humanity towards animals, even fish. So ya, those things were a bit off putting but I will return because I found the place so interesting.
Most ingredients for Chinese/Asian cooking are accessible. If you know exactly what you want and you cant find it here, then you can talk to management and they can try to get it for you. The best times to shop are Wednesdays and Saturdays in the mid-morning. Thats when they get their trucks from Atlanta. They are friendly and will lend a helpful hand when asked.
Not just an Asian grocery store... THE Asian grocery store! This is the place to be for any ingredient from instant noodles to fresh fish and crabs! Their produce section is more than adequate and the prices are very reasonable. Whats more, they also have an Indian section, and quite a selection of cooking and serving utensils. Though perhaps not relevant to you, I consider this my best option if I need a new teapot. Go here, and be in awe!
Wonderful store! Masks are enforced thank goodness! I love knowing I can shop safely here. The workers are super friendly and willing to help you with anything and the managers are the kindest people! All the produce is super fresh and they have the widest selection of ingredients! Very lovely place! Definitely recommend stopping here if youre travelling through Knoxville and want a fun place to take a break in, or if youre local and new to international cuisine!
Love this place. As close as I can get to an Hmart or something like out west
One of the best international markets in Knoxville. Selection is great. Price on bones is excellent. I frequent the store, as international dishes are almost all I make now thanks to this little spot.
Has a good selection of food and drinks! The aisles are a little thin so I opted to use a basket instead of a cart, but thats how its been at every asian market Ive been to. Smaller aisles means more food options! I was able to find everything I needed! Others mentioned a smell but Im used to fresh seafood so I didnt even notice it.
I’m used to shopping at Asian markets but this one doesn’t smell clean. There were 5 gallon buckets with food items in them with tongs on top and a thin plastic wrap which didn’t seem to fit food safety protocols. Most of the produce was okay, we didn’t use the meat counter but had some good selections. Our main issue was how dirty it was. There were piles of bags of items stacked on top of one another with dirt and grime all over the floors. Yes they have a lot to offer but Lucky Asian Mart is smaller but cleaner, and the owner actually engages with you. I won’t be back here.
Have every different kind of Chinese etc.. food you can imagine. Ive tried different foods because of this store. My niece is Chinese and was adopted going to send her a package. Love it even if it stinks.
I love Sunrise, and I am very glad that they are enforcing masks within their stores. They have the right to do so as a private owned business, but most in Knoxville are not brave enough because of a few rude customers. I am glad they are making sure all customers feel safe in these times. Every time I have been, the staff is incredibly friendly, and they have a wonderful selection.
We dont live very close by, but were in town and stopped by on the way out and were able to get some beautiful produce, and stock up on some great staples. Much better pricing then ordering at larger retailers online. Wish we were closer.
Everything that you could ever want from an Asian supermarket. Good prices too!
Im a butcher/fish monger at a local chain grocer and refer people here multiple times a day. Virtually any kind of commercially caught fish are available whole and they sell all the things like bones and tails the big box stores never have. I cant argue with the negative reviews calling it cramped and smelly, it is. Those arent negatives to me though, the selection is huge and the smells bring back good memories of fish and farmers markets. 5 stars, good place good prices good selection.
Love this supermarket. The produce is inexpensive and I can find a lot of things here that I cant elsewhere in Knoxville
I have always loved this store for the quality and care they put into their food products! Recently, I have been pleasantly surprised that they are enforcing mask wearing in their store too! It is nice to know that I have a place to shop that cares about my health and the health of those close to me who are at risk! I would go here for everything I need if it was closer to me.
Could use different brands of curry. The ones they have are in all supermarkets.
They had all kinds of fresh foods and Mochi of all kinds I like this market for all Asian food choices
Their prices here are very well especially on pork if you like pork like I do I usually buy a whole pork or so you go to these other stores like the Mexican stores and they want $5 a pound for ribs are they crazy. At sunrise supermarket ribs are only $3.69 all these other stores are nothing but crooks so you want a fair place go to sunrise supermarket they have great prices .....
We love this market and the wide variety of asian and latin food options. I am able to make all my favorite meals and treats. If you eat halal there is a lot of options. The produce, meat and fish is always of great quality and very fresh.
Love this place. The selection is mind boggling. If it has anything to do with Asian cuisine, you will find it here, including the pots to cook it in! Also candy, snacks and drinks. The cashiers are friendly and helpful. The fresh seafood and meat counter offers many items you wont find at your regular grocery store. It was quite busy today.
They have many grocery items you dont find in other stores. Fresh fish and good prices.
They have a lot of sea food and Asia stuff, but thrir prices are high thou. I only go there to get few things I cant find anywhere else. Not bad
You can get a lot of Asian things, really nice. Just be prepared for the smell.
Amazing selection!!! I tripped and tore my knee and the owner jumped over the counter and healed me using what can only be described as magic!! It was insane! 6/5
Good place lots of variety of food and fresh meat and fresh fish
Exotic, to me, fish. Ive never seen red snapper in person. They have live crabs. Fresh goat. Lamb. Things you normally wouldnt find in a regular supermarket and they were all fresh.if you eat ramen noodles you should buy one pack of any of those brands that they have their. theyre about $0.50 each and try one of those to compare. It doesnt matter if you like it better or not its just a fun thing to do. I love this store. They also have dishes. I bought myself a beautiful cup there for tea. But they also have wocks and cooking utensils. I probably would have had a car load full of stuff if I had the money! Also they like have a whole aisle full of the different varieties of tea. In bags and loose leaf. If nothing else just go there to look at all the things they have. For me it was like going into a museum or something lol
Has a good selection of items. And yes they require masks because that is the safe thing to do. If you have problem with that, stay home. Those of us who are sensible do not want to catch the virus
I love this place, and so does my boyfriend. They have a wonderful assortment of spices and it’s been the perfect place for two college kids to stock their kitchen on a budget.
I love the selection! The fish selection is unbeatable try it out if you like fish. Tons of international foods as well for great prices.
They have many of the things you would want out of a good asian market. The problem is that when you are searching for something specific, you cant really find someone to ask for help. Or if you do, they dont really know what any of the items are. So, just go knowing that you are on your own to navigate this store.
Very rude cashiers!!!!!!Great response from owner!Thank you for reaching out, I respect your store policy wearing mask, I was wearing one when I came in and when I left. My mask fell below my nose unloading groceries on to the check out while cashier was waiting on another customer.Cashier’s very rude remarks, her demands to put my mask back up was very rude. I can’t even get it back on at the precise moment she was demanding. I was trying to hurry load my groceries to the belt so I can get my mask back up, it was below my nose at the moment. In fact I begged her to please wait a little bit, let me get done. She insisted screaming for me to push my mask back up immediately, right at this very moment and she was not listening to what my reason was. This is no way to talk to any people, no matter their background or color. Nobody should be talked to this way on any matter.Thank you for your kind response, this is all I need to make things right is acknowledgement, that’s all and nothing else. Thank you very much.
Extremely fair pricing on produce, seafood, and meat. Plus things you cant find anywhere else in Knoxville.Skip the Shrimp dock and go here for your shrimp or crawfish.
Odd little market, not laid out well. Smells a bit more than other Asian markets Ive been in, for some reason there are tip jars at the cash registers. The trash cans outside smell so bad I almost didnt make it to the store...that being said they carried the few little Asian items I was looking for.
Good selection prices are good for the most part. blue crabs and crawfish are not a good price!!!!! Wish it was organized better and the smell was a whole lot better.
This place has an odd odor......but you can find some unique vegan treasures here!!
Love coming here to shop everyone nice and place is clean. Yes it might smell off to some people. But all meat are fresh
A very good selection of Asian food stuffs, i come here for udon noodles W/o the salt pack. the only downer is they just stopped selling turkish [cardamon] coffee.
Great place found all kinds of stuff to try and stuff that I was looking for
Very helpful staff...I will go back soon...!!!🤩
The place is dirty and they usually have a lot of outdated items on the shelf. I normally overlook that because they do have a decent selection of products. However I can not overlook how rude and dismissive the young man stocking products was. Will not return.
This store has the widest variety of Asian and Hispanic food and cookware for miles around. Going to this store is always a treat!
I’m so thankful to have this place in Knoxville. It’s a hidden gem, and I can’t recommend it enough! Grateful they are here AND requiring masks for the safety of EVERYONE.
Good customer service, clean store with all kinds of items I cant wait to try. I wish they had a deli. I like that they offer cardboard boxes instead of using plastic bags. They have been the best and safest store since the March Covid breakout. They go out of their way to be clean. They wear masks, disinfect all the carts and limit the number of customers at one time in the store which makes me feel safer. I highly recommend this unique store.
My favorite place, only place i can find food that. Feels like home
Great place to shop for authentic oriental, Asian, chinese, type foods and other items. You will find items here that you probably wont find at any other grocery/food store in Knoxville.
Not friendly to people who have a health exemptions. Was happy to take my business else where.
Store dirty. Interesting food choices though.
This is a safe place to shop that is compliant with current safety procedures. Get fresh fish/meat/produce at competitive prices, and roll the dice on a mysterious can of something covered in writing you cant read! Is it dried fish? Is it curry paste? Maybe its water chestnuts... Pay $1.00 and go find out... or just use your fancy pocket computer to translate so you dont accidentally end up with pickled durian fruit.
The prices here on produce cant be beat.If you average the import price against the fresh food price it averages out and you still save money! Dont get your Pocky shipped if you can get it here.
Sunrise Market is probably the best Asian grocery store in Knoxville and possibly East TN. Best in terms of variety of choices and fresh international vegetables. Cleanliness of the product placements, aisles, and organization could definitely be improved. The store as a whole feels cramped with the number of products that they carry. As of this post, their inventory has dwindled quite a bit due to the current situation and its been difficult to find things but at the same time - this should provide an opportunity to bring products to the front on shelves or to organize what they do have so it is easier to find.
Variety of selections But pretty pricey 💰💵💰
Needs prices placed better on products
Amazing store. Great variety and prices as well and theyre doing wonderful on the mask mandate and capacity control
Inexpensive produce and a good selection of Asian foodstuffs.
Greatest selection of Asian groceries I have seen in a long time. Also has fresh vegetables and a large assortment of seafood. Will definitely be back to shop more!!
Something for everyones taste.
Awesome supermarket store with all kinds of interesting foodstuffs, and cookware, produce and meats!
Great place to get oriental stuff
Its a little crowded, things arent labeled properly, and not the most up to date place... but they have some great products you cant find at your standard market.
A really fun and interesting grocery store! Lots of fresh vegetables and odd fruits. Fresh, and frozen seafood, poultry, beef, and other meats. A real selection of different imported foods, utensils, and cookware along with canned foods and dozens of regional sauces. Yes, it is a little stinky, but I find it reminds me of when I was younger and travelled to exotic places. Sunrise is a mini-vacation! My daughter is 12 and enjoys looking at the imported candies and picking out odd pieces of stoneware she likes.
Great place. Masks enforced. Love it here.
Its a well stocked and affordable market for Asian cooking needs! :-) They have friendly employees too :-)
Great place to get many Asian countries food. But still stink here of fish. Not very clean and fire hazard due to isles are cluttered and stuffed.
Nice store. Im not big on ethnic places, but they have a good selection. The smell from the seafood, however, permeates the entire store.
This is my favorite Asian market to shop at in a 100 mile radius from where we live in KY. They have a variety of different noodles, rices, spices, teas, sauces, condiments from Japan, China, Korea, Philippines, etc.
Great place to get any asian snacks and drinks and has huge selection of noodles, veggies, and fish to choose from.
Always have what Im looking for. Large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Very good supermarket if you are looking for fresh products or different ingredients for home made Asian foods. I like to go there to stuck up my pantry for occasional Asian dinners. Thai herbs Chinese goodies Vietnamese pho soups, you name it you can find all the ingredients in here.
Best Asian market in Knoxville with an amazing meat selection.
Reminds me of the market back at home. Real nice. Amazing selection. Will continue to shop
Went there for some fresh veggies they had everything I needed plus it was cheaper than if I stopped at the popular super markets
Glad to see some items back in stock after months of not having them.
Very rude customer service, the cashier is absolutely rude and condescending! Will be shopping to another cheaper Asian stores! Do Not come in this place!
Quick in/out delivery. Was skeptical upon arrival; had to pull around back for man made dock. My fears were alleviated by store employees who were friendly and quick about their work.
Just love this place even though its a bit pricey on alot of stuff
By far the best produce in Knoxville! If I can’t find it at a Farmer’s Market, I go to Sunrise. The greens and meat are always fresh! The prices make it easy to feed my family within a budget without having to cut anything out! My favorite!
We got a bushel if veggies for our family of 3 for like $25. I love this place. It is one of my favorite markets.
This is my go to snack shop. Its right near my favorite bookstore and they have all kinds of stuff that my dad likes me to make him when I visit. He use to live in Hong Kong as a teen and gets nostalgic for the food, and this is the place to get it.
Not only does it have hard to find Asian food stuffs, it also has a good amount of Middle Eastern and Hispanic foods too.
Great selection of international grocery items. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. But be prepared for the chaos of an international market with many customers and navigating thin aisles and long lines for checking out.
Excellent, keeps me from going to AtlantaCould spend hours in there.
A bountiful selection. Friendly and courteous staff
Dirty. Felt like I was in some wierd world. The food maybe fresh. Idk even what to say
I absolutely love this supermarket! They always have fresh produce, meats, seafood and products that you simply can not find anywhere else around here. Take my advice and check it out!
Asian market with a variety of oriental food products and fresh veggies. They also sell some middle Eastern foods like tahini, rose water...
