My favorite clothing store ever! The owner is great and the more I shop the more I find! I’m finding that most my tops come from Fizz!
Ive been shopping at Fizz for a year. Up until my recent unpleasant experience, it was my favorite local jewelry store. The staff is wonderful and exuberant. I usually feel welcomed every time I visit! Im going to miss their laughter and smiles.I had the unfortunate experience of meeting the owner for the first time. The day before this interaction, I went into the boutique with my husband. I found a lovely pair of $38 earrings and a gorgeous $40 necklace. However, the necklace wasnt quite right. I was told by the associates to come back the next morning. They told me the owner could create a modified piece. Ive purchased 5-6 pieces from Fizz in the last month, so I was excited to finally meet the owner of a business I deeply admired! When I visited the next morning, the owner & I discussed the details of the piece. She was calm and helpful. I gave her my contact information, so she could call me when it was finished.Next, I asked if I could use the fitting room to try on some pants I bought from the boutique across the street. Their fitting room is closed due to Covid-19. To be clear, no one owes me a yes, but her mood soured, her face wrinkled up, and I could hear the passive-aggressive disdain dripping from the owners voice, No, I dont want to do that. Then she walked off.I could understand being a bit frustrated if I was a random person off the street, but I was a guaranteed paying customer. I had to wait for the necklace, and the last time Id requested a modification on a piece, the woman working put it together quickly, so I figured it would be no harm to let me try on the new pants I had bought.Id planned to try to match some tops from Fizz that Id had my eyes on for weeks with the pants. I walk everywhere and didnt want to walk home, try the pants on, and then walk back to Fizz and the other boutique (assuming the pants didnt fit) when I could just stay in Market Square. Were still in a pandemic, so Id hoped people would be a little more flexible right now.I left the store in a daze because I wasnt sure how to react. I ended up trying on my new pants in the bathroom of a local health shop that I frequent. They happily let me use the bathroom!I talked to a few people who work in Market Square about the incident and realized I wasnt wrong to feel severely uncomfortable. Feeling validated, I went back to Fizz and talked to the cashier. I informed her that what I was about to say was not her fault. I explained why I had asked to use the fitting room. I also told her not to worry about the necklace.I dont think Ill ever go back again because itd be too uncomfortable. Ive never written a negative Google review in my life, but it hurt to be treated like that. I cried afterward. I thought maybe the owner was having a bad day, but I talked to other local businesses and a few people told me that the owner has a habit of subtly making people feel small. If I could return all the jewelry Id previously bought from the store I would do it for free. I have no ill-will in my heart, but Im disappointed. I understand that the owner could be a loving wonderful person in general, so Im not making a judgment on her as a whole, only speaking of my singular experience. My mental health has been poor recently, so I had wanted to treat myself to something special. I will have to find somewhere else.Edit: The Owner responded to my review. I didnt know it would take 24 hrs, but I have no complaints about the time. I had a cardigan/pants. I wanted to look at tops to go with them. When I asked to use the dressing room you responded harshly. I hadnt selected anything yet since we were discussing the custom jewelry near the front of the store. I was going to grab a few shirts I saw yesterday omw to the fitting room. If you felt my request was rude, you couldve said no kindly. It was a request, not a demand. I wouldve clarified that I was going to shop for Fizz tops. You have my phone number. If youd like to clear up the misunderstanding Im willing to talk anytime.
Love this store. They have a little bit of something for everyone! I love their handmade jewelry and how everything is beautifully displayed. Friendly staff and great atmosphere! Such a hidden gem in Knoxville. Be sure to go to Market Square and check it out!! 5/5 stars.
Fizz has been a long time favorite of mine for shopping fashion and jewelry. Several of my best friends shop there as well. We love to go together and make a day of it! The staff is always helpful and willing to give advice on how items fit or offer suggestions to make a whole outfit. I appreciate that when buying a shirt, that there are always pants or skirts to match available. This is a full service boutique. They also have camisoles, bralettes, socks and hosiery. The store has sizes for everyone. I am a size 16 and I never have a problem finding clothing in Fizz. My one very good friend is a size 6 and she always finds things there too. Sometimes they are even the same brand. Thank you Fizz for being on Market square and offering such a diverse array of fashion for myself and my friends.
I love this store! It’s one of the few places in Knoxville where I can always find something cool for my teenage daughter as well as something for myself, too! The employees are friendly and helpful, and there is a huge selection of clothes and jewelry that you don’t see everywhere else. It’s my favorite place to shop downtown.
This is really a cute place right on Market Square in downtown Knoxville. It has eclectic varieties of all sorts of fashion. From hats to close to jewelry and swimsuits. They have changing rooms there to utilize but no bathrooms. The only downside I can see to the store is they are on the expensive side.
Cute clothing and a lot of unique hand made jewelry!
Amazing clothing. A lot of the jewelry is made in-house, and uses the same elements over and over ... looks on the cheap, kitschy side. There is some better jewelry in the cases, though. The reason that I knocked them down to two stars was the woman working. She was all over me the whole time I was in the shop, and made me very uncomfortable. I bought something and came back to try to browse after a meal, but she was all over me again ... I had already made a purchase, and was dressed nicely in there with my daughter and two granddaughters, and had no intention of stealing ... obviously since I had already spent over $100. She continued to hover until I finally asked her to just let me browse without her breathing down my neck. Even then she was still there, and when my 3 year-old granddaughter picked up a shiny necklace ... remember that she is 3 ... the woman practically jumped on her to grab it back! Then she said something like, Shes little, she doesnt understand Understand what, exactly? It was a cheap necklace that my granddaughter was admiring, not STEALING, and we were right there supervising her ... GAH! I really do love the clothes, but I dont think its worth dealing with her to go back ... her behavior was intrusive and insulting.
Wonderful locally owned, artisan shop..filled with all kinds of wonderful things. Friendly staff that offered lots of help.
Such great merchandise. Glad we stopped. Unlike another reviewer I am not marking them low because they dont offer a restroom. Boutiques arent required to have them like food and bar service locations. They deserve 5 stars regardless
I went into Fizz looking for vintage rings to add to my collection. First, I had to search for a sales associate to open the case for me. After she did, she stood over me the entire time (I understand watching for theft, but this invaded my personal space). I was trying on the rings for about 5 minutes- on different fingers, different combos with my other rings etc.- when told me I had tried on all of them and took the case away. So disrespectful to a customer who is clearly planning to purchase. I HIGHLY recommend heading across market square to Earth To Old City, where I promptly purchased two rings with excellent customer service :)
My sister, Brenda, took me to Fizz on Friday, December 20th. I am not much of a shopper but my sister is. BUT, if I lived in TN, Fizz would change that! I had so much fun trying on their unique clothes. Why was it fun? Because the ladies working that evening took a personal interest in me and made me feel special. Ive never ever had that much fun shopping!
My girlfriends and I went to this store yesterday. We live in Knoxville and though we never make it downtown, we decided to make a point and do some some local shopping. Of course, we hit the sales racks (because this is a higher priced boutique). I picked out a dress for my friend and she tried it on and loved it.When checking out, I overheard the sales associate tell my friend a significantly higher cost than what was on the tag. When she was running the card, I pulled my friend aside and told her she was being overcharged for the dress. The tag said $68 and was 50% off. She was being charged $88. My friend nicely ask the associate how much she was being charged and the associate argued with her that the price was $88 not $68. Luckily, there was another dress that had a tag on it that was marked the same way. The associate made it right, but acted really offended like we were being rude for asking for the correct price.I understand that the customer isnt always right, but you better danged well make sure that the mistake isnt yours before being a jerk. You lost 3 customers because of this and potentially more because of this review. Too bad.
Ive had nothing but great experiences buying things for my girlfriend from Fizz. They have excellent jewelry and a wide array of clothing. There are so many unique items to choose from. Youll have fun just walking around the store. Also, during an event this year they gave me $5 off and my girlfriend got free sunglasses. FREE! Theyre definitely a business that cares about making their customers happy.
Fantastic shop. Great items for reasonable prices. The owner and staff are attentive and nice. My wife loves this place.
The workers are so nice and they have great variety
I love this cute boutique! Its always fun to stop in and browse! I bought my favorite pants here for such a good price on sale!
What a joke of an establishment.Other than the extremely obvious (obnoxious, over-priced jewelry, & over-priced clothing) Fizz, located in the heart of Market Square seems to be barely holding its head above water. Browsing the store you will see items thrown amuck from the ceiling to the floor. I went in to browse early one week day morning, while the square was still very quiet. I like to shop when theres not a crowd. Jewelry and clothing covered the floor, who I would assume to be the owner frantically picked up the mess and proceeded to try to sell me things I was clearly not interested in. She was throwing clothing in the fitting rooms like an actual mad woman, running in and out from the back of the store breaking a sweat when I clearly didnt want to be bothered. The employees were wide eyed and honestly seemed embarrassed by the behavior of their queen bee. After my 4th time DECLINING that I wanted any help and wanted to browse the owner copped an attitude with me and I made my way out the door. Little does she or anyone else in that store know, I have been a longtime customer of the brands, Gauze, Et Louis, and Chalet. Had the crazy, money hungry owner just left me be to my shopping I could have dropped easily 2 grand in her store. Mind blowing. Hopefully a newer, more organized boutique will open in the square soon and run her out of business.Cheers
The bad reviews I see posted here are not a good representation of this wonderful store. Im sure they would have exchanged the item, no problem. Most boutiques will not issue refunds on sale items, only exchanges. I frequent this store all the time and love the service. Beverly is so nice and helpful its clear these people are just trolling. I encourage every satisfied customer to write a few lines so we can get these reviews moved to the bottom of the list! Love the store! Great quality items! A lot of American Made stuff too!
Beautiful boutique in Knoxvilles historic Market Square that is overflowing with gorgeous, one-of-a-kind jewelry designed and made on-site. Great selection of chic, high quality ladies clothing.
Beautiful and unique handmade jewelry at very reasonable prices as well as high quality clothing you wont find elsewhere. Very welcoming, pleasant and always helpful sales associates.
This place has a great collection of unique clothing. Everything is a bit pricey, but worth it!
Wonderful lines of clothing great service and smiling faces
Great selection of fun, bohemian clothing
Amazing boutique with fantastic, locally designed, handmade jewley
I was visiting my friend Melanie in Knoxville last week. We went to this store and she bought a pair of pants, on sale. The first time she wore them in public, they ripped almost completely in half. (Melanie is a very slender girl by the way.) Never mind her embarrassment, but then the store refused to take her pants back. They said it is store policy not to take back sale items. Horrible, rude service. When we informed the owner that we would write a bad review, Beverly (one of the employees) told us to go ahead because the owner doesnt care. Okay. They have neat clothes here, but if they cant stand by the quality and they dont care about their customers, whats the point?
