I recently decided to scratch an item off my bucket list and become open water certified to scuba dive (I took an Intro To Scuba course, years ago, in Hawaii, but wanted to go to the next level). First, Id like to say that my instructor, Fred Schiller, was excellent! He was a little intimidating, initially. Hes bald with a goatee, covered in tattoos and from New Jersey, and just a wee bit brash (Did I mention hes from New Jersey??) Fred is a perfect example of how you shouldnt judge a book by its cover. He is very knowledgeable, is extraordinarily patient in working with those who may have anxieties about diving, hes funny and he makes his classes fun, but ultimately he wants to ensure that each student learns, safely, how to do dive.Something I noticed about Alpha Divers versus the other local dive shop, Ski Scuba (I inquired with both before choosing Alpha Divers), was that they had a MUCH smaller class (8 in my class vs. 33 in the Ski Scuba class, who were also at the Philadelphia Quarry when we moved from the classroom into the water.) When I asked Fred about this, he told me it ensures much more individual attention from instructors, per student. He told me Alpha Divers is about, Quality over quantity. Considering they only charge about $50 more than Ski Scuba, I would definitely recommend Alpha Divers over the other guys. I even overheard a junior student with Ski Scuba tell his mom he was having problems with his ears. They couldnt find anyone with their group to help, then I heard her tell him to go over and ask the an Alpha Divers instructor for help, Lol, and he did! I dont know how much more of a testimonial to their quality you can get than that!!! Oh, and they also sell new and used equipment, wetsuits, etc. at competitive prices. Theyre a one-stop shop 😊

I loved getting my Open Water certification with Alpha Divers. They were very flexible with my schedule and Fred was a great instructor. I felt comfortable asking questions and was very prepared for my first dive trip the next week. Highly recommend!

Great group of folks that run this place. Fred was really patient and encouraging for my 13 yr old son. They were also accommodating with getting our schedule to line up with their class schedule. And even went the extra mile to help me recover my long lost PADI cert info.

Took the open water class with my 13 year old daughter, the instruction was absolutely top notch. There were over a dozen students between the 3 days in the water and Danny and Fred knew everyones areas to work on. It was incredibly personalized, educational, and worth every penny. They took all the time needed to work every single person through the process. Not only are we both now Certified Padi Alpha divers, but we will be Alpha diver customers for life. So looking forward to the Advanced course as well as hooking up with this team on many, many future dive trips. On top of that, the shop pricing for a small shop is very competitive and the knowledge and service of the staff is as top notch as the classes.

The Alpha Divers staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
