Can’t say enough about their customer service and quality of coffee and food. They are always friendly and happy to be keeping the population of Kodiak well caffeinated :D Plus, the cookies are out of this world. The photo shows a couple gingerbread cookies I picked up this morning. I’ve also had several of their vegetarian sandwich and chili options and they’re equally as delicious. So glad to have this option a mere 6 minutes from me!

Great family friendly atmosphere and waitstaff, sandwiches are good and coupled with the soup are a very hardy meal. Sort of famous for their cookies as well, considering the location the amount of people who come for lunch or use the drive thru should be recommendation enough. But if it is not, then your first visit will convince you to come back to the ample menu of very tasty selections. Hours are till 3 so keep that in mind.

Were huge fans of Java Flats!Their food is delicious, & the unique, quaint but cozy, mountain ski-resort coffee & breakfast-bistro vibe is perfectly balanced with the welcoming & small-town-friendly team that works there.We love it so much that when we were in Kodiak visiting my Daughter & her husband, who was stationed at the Coast Guard base in 2012, we visited Java Flats almost every morning for 2 straight weeks... & I developed an addiction to their homemade granola bars. Even after returning home to Virginia Beach, Ive never forgotten how delicious those granola bars were. Ive looked everywhere locally, & even learned how to make my own granola bars, but they just didnt hold a candle to Java Flats granola bars.In fact, nothing even comes close.So, after all these years of missing those incredibly good granola bars, I finally messaged Alicia at Java Flats, & she was kind enough to go out of her way & mail a bunch of her homemade granola bars to me all the way out here in Virginia Beach!And guess what?!? Theyre every bit as delicious as I remember! My Husband & I were thrilled, & I could not be happier, or more grateful, for her taking her personal time to do such a kind & gracious favor for me!This place is just THE BEST! The food is fantastic, but its the team that calls Java Flats home that is what really makes it so special! I couldnt recommend them more highly, & Alicia, I just cant thank you enough! ❤🏞☕🍪🏔

Very friendly staff and amazing food! Good smoothies too. Id recomend looking the menu up online before hand as they told me that they are always updating it and making some changes. But they did provide a menu for me to look at when I was there too!

Java Flats is an amazing place to go have a wonderful breakfast sandwich or burrito. They have the freshest salads that can feed 2 people and the soup is delicious! Customer service is hands down the best, even on the busy days! My favorite part about Java Flats is the fresh baked cookies! They have a wonderful variety to choose from and offer gluten free as well. A must try when you visit the Emerald Island!

Just got back from Kodiak. Went out to eat at 5 different places and I have to say this was my favorite. The food is excellent as are the giant cookies. Cant wait to visit Kodiak again. Will be back to Java Flats next year.

Awesome coffee shop and lunch spot. Sandwiches were really fresh and definitely dope. Good selection of teas. The barrista was really helpful with the tea selection. Good selection of giant cookies. Pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon. Just note there are only a few indoor tables and a few outside, so you might take a jacket in case you are eating outside and its chilly.

Wonderful restraunt and coffee shop. A true Kodiak staple and a wonderful place to stop any day for a cookie & coffee, a bite to eat, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who appreciates good food.

Best coffee house on the Island by far. Food is amazing, I especially like the oatmeal which comes with lots of tasty toppings. I hope to return soon. In Sept. you head there early in the am, get a cup of joe to go and go watch the bears eating fish in the nearby creek. Awesome !

Java Flats makes Kodiak home. Its a wonderfully quaint place with a welcoming feeling as soon as you step in the door. The cookies are to die for, and the sandwiches are fabulous. The coffee house gives you a sense of warmth on the chilly island days.

Excellent! Java Flats offers gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads, coffee/tea, and fresh baked goods. When available they use organic produce, buy local and use compostable paper to-go containers and corn based compostable “plastic” to go cups. My favorite is the freshly baked cookies (Best in Kodiak). Eat lunch there, or take it TO-GO as you explore Kodiak Island!!

This place is fantastic and was a really unexpected find. The coffee is great and the food is fantastic, including many vegetarian options.

Food was wonderful. Minimal seating but they do have outdoor seating. Still wish I had got a cookie to go the looked yummy!

Delicious food and refreshments, Shame that it is so far from town. My family and I regularily make trips out to the flats on beautiful days to enjoy this little alcove.

If you dont have a car, its hard to get here. So get a car. The breakfast is great and the cookies are better. Tea selection is varied for those of us who dont drink coffee.

Fantastic Cafe next door to the equally fabulous Russian River Roadhouse where we stayed for 10 days. The owner Jimmy is a wealth of knowledge and incredible help. I fished, hiked, biked, flew, boated, whale watched, ATVd, ate, drank and about everything else and came back with 75lbs of Salmon, Rockfish, Flounder, Halibut, and Cod.

Finest food in Kodiak, although its a bit outside the city proper (12 miles). Delicious sandwiches (my favorite is the Trailblazer) and cookies, and a variety of teas and coffee to quench your thirst.

This is a good place to stop if you want coffee before a hike, you want a pit stop on a bike ride, or you want to hang out and drink hot cocoa and eat the best cookies around. I always go out of my way to stop at this little gem of a place.

This place is amazing hands down. You havent been to kodiak till you been to java flats. I suggest getting a dirty chai latte with a delicious Morning Rise on Jalapeño cheddar bagel!! If its to busy inside head on down the road to Russian Creek pull over to the side on the road find a nice rock to sit on and injoy the view!!!
