Absolutely inconsistent.I am truly baffled by the way the pharmacy is ran.Lack of management. Things truly have taken a turn for the worst since Gordon retired.

So good! Pretty sure we tried the entire lunch menu. Big portions, super tasty, great service. Perfect if youre passing through to or from Portland.

It was one of those times you walk into a foreign Safeway and the store layout was backwards. Needless to say they had every special request item I was provided from our family on our family vacation and I was able to find them fairly easily. 4/5 stars due to 2 of the items being hidden behind other items.

They have relocated many items recently but still easy to find.

Stopped here overnight when the I84 shut down in both directions. Luckily, we found this safe haven with nice people and everything to make our night tolerable.

Horrible customer service all around! Waited for 25 minutes in the bottle room and had to ring three times. Two other customers had to call them as well and still we didn’t get assistance with the machines. Only when I called customer service on my phone did they say they would send someone to help. When I finally completed that’s, I went to cash in my ticket stubs and the checkout lady refused to acknowledge my presence. After waiting for another 5 minutes, continuously trying to speak with her, I just went to customer service. Absolutely horrible service. I only had $6.00 worth of cans, it should have never taken that long.Most definitely will NOT be returning

The store itself was fine but the bathrooms are some of the nastiest I have ever been in. Yowza.

Now in my experience, weekends are popular for grocery shopping. So why were there only 2 cashiers and 2 lines of ten people each? And the self checkout was also completely full with a line. Not only that, fried chicken shouldnt taste like it was dipped in a salt vat.

I like that Safeway is close to my house; most of the employees there are pretty nice. Its always crowded, and a little too pricey but you could always find what you need.

I dont know how other shoppers feel about customer service standards, but when the employees shut the door in your face just as you are walking through it, it makes me want to recommend Walmart. I realize the store policy is to lock the east a few hours prior to closing time, but wouldnt it make sense to allow your customers to step through the door before you shut it in their faces? Might want to train your courtesy clerks as to the meaning of the word courtesy? Otherwise great store, great groceries...they just hire some real a-holes.

Bridgette in the deli was wonderful.Great sandwich,fast and I know she was smiling under that mask 😊 Excellent customer service.my only complaint about Safeway, is the pharmacy NEVER answers the phone.I live out of town and have to drive to town for any questions or anything.its very inconvenient.Safeway needs more staff in the pharmacy.

Price is pretty hight but, ill pay the little extra when they are not packed full all the time like walmart and they stay open later.

Dude who cooks the food must pop it in the oven and go take a nap. Everything was super dry. Had to buy a bottle of water to rehydrate the food as if I was on the moon.

This was my first time to this Safeway store. I went in to get a case of water. Some of the employees were stocking shelves like the produce department and the dairy department and some of the grocery department. Plus it looked like the pharmacy department was getting a product rearrangement. Went through the self checkout because it was faster for me. The store was very clean and only one employee said hi to me as I walked the whole store. This is a very nice store.

Always very clean and beautifully stocked. With starbucks and the deli directly inside one door and the florist directly inside the other, you begin and end your shopping experience on a good note and the pharmacy staff is so wonderful, they take the time to get to know their customers by name.

Safeway is always my first choice for groceries.... except water bottles.... no way. They have a much better selection of meat and produce than Walmart. Some things cost more but its not a big deal.

They Wouldnt even waite on me . I dress as if I dont have a dime. I have plenty of money not being spent there. Just saying

I have been very disappointed with the customer service at this Safeway. Ive had very bad service when it came to trying to use a manufacturer coupon. I was told they do not accept them and when I asked to see a policy the lady pointed to a hand written note (that i couldnt see) and said it says it right here. She was very rude in the way she spoke and I was super upset that I had used my mobile coupon and then the store wouldnt honor it. The only time Ive had a good customer service interaction was with the Starbucks employee inside the store.They do not have milk that is eligible for WIC and there WIC items are not labeled (at least they were not when I was there) making it very hard to shop there.Selection of meat is good and I still go there for that, otherwise I shop elsewhere in town.

There are two supermarkets in town Walmart and Safeway as of June 1st Walmart no longer guarantees satisfaction. Walmart used to guarantee low price if there was something cheaper at Safeway Walmart would match the price not anymore. In addition if Walmart overcharged on a product they had missed Mark in their store and you caught it which happens way more often then you think Walmart might give you the difference. Safeway on the other hand reimburses you 100% And you get the item for free which happens more than you think and Safeway their meat department and their produce are Far and Away better than Walmart Safeway app as cheap or cheaper than Walmart and its not Walmart which means you dont have to park a country mile away and then walk three blocks for a gallon of milk and you get Safeway Rewards which means cheap gas

Im always depressed after trying to shop here. The selection is limited in every department. Its basically an overpriced Walmart. Canned fish stock? Nope. Bobs Red Mill cereal? Nope. They used to carry it. Now, only oatmeal. Or 20 different selections of over-processed, instant oatmeal. A block of feta cheese? Forget about it. Ten different selections of overpriced feta crumbles... So, basically a down market, rural grocery store with endless selections of processed food.

They did have the ad items that I had added to my app but I had to go back in to get a refund because I was overcharged. $7.11 today and I wonder how many people didnt go back in and how much extra money they made by not honoring ad prices.

My wife was at the La Grande safeway yesterday, November 09 2020 to buy a cake from the bakery department and Megan, the Palauan girl that was working there was very rude and prejudice towards her. You should teach her how give a good customer service.

I generally love Safeway for its quality products and experience.However, this store generally makes me do several circles to find things. Sometimes it will be at the end of some random isle, or I need to walk across the whole store due to their strange layout with food on both ends of the store. Instead of a food section and a distinct other section.Todays shopping also noted several out of stock items. But, some of these will be restocked soon. So it is understandable that this happens on occasion.Overall, staff is courteous and store is well maintained. A pleasant experience for weekly needs.Also of note, this store offers gas at a discount with points.The side driveway is a bit steep and wouldnt recommend using it at all in the winter.

Absolutely grateful to this store. My 5 year has Autism, dosent talk and has from small to large out burst. ALL of the employees just smile at us young or older dont matter. Theres no judgment, no weird looks and the customers are all usually older people and they are just as nice. My son loves this place. It gives me chance to teach my son how to buy food and behave in public. Thank you Safeway!! for your kindness year round!!

Who ever runs the deli needs to learn not to over cook food everything looks burnt second time I’ve gone and everything is over cooked or been sitting for a couple days completely foul And a complete waste of money one bite and threw it away

Aint gonna buy nothin no more from Lagrande Safeway till you stock monster peach teas, say goodbye to $500+ monthly revenue. I even did the special order form, you claim the truck comes everyday but you dont stock my drink even after I buy everything you have of it. I can get my food from somewhere else. 👋

I know where everything is. Lots of parking. Great service. The bakery always has something fun for everyone. And the meat department is very helpful. Even will tell you the best way to prep the meat for the best flavor and proper cooking.

Awesome, hadnt stepped into a safeway for more than 20 something years. Only complaint I have is if they say on the cooked portion of the deli, and it says ask for a sample of the new Korean beef, that they have a decal on glass saying do not have it. That and the Starbucks did not taste anything from Boise. Tell the gal that smiles to smile and act like she want to be there.

Very poor customer service. I had to make 3 phone calls to finally get what I needed. I dont think its because of the employees, but rather poor management: they should train and support employees better. As a sidenote, corporate is impossible for a consumer to get a hold of.Safeway and Vons were bought out by Albertsons and it shows. Corporate doesnt give a flying banana about consumers. I urge you to go to Grocery Outlet or similar Ive NEVER been treated well by Albertsons. I have stories. Let me know if you want to hear them. Wed ordered 23 pounds of prime rib for a family dinner this weekend. Dave T personally prepared the prime rib, added extra touches and had a big smile on his face when we came to pick it up. Dave took extra time to discuss preparation and carving tips. The meat was superior quality and prepared for the ease of cooking and serving. The customer service was exceptional. We love our La Grande Safeway store!

Definitely recommend Walmart over this unfriendly environment. I came here with my roommates the other night and Aly the girl at the register was very aggressive and rude when we were paying. Nothing but eye rolls and sighs of annoyance, she seemed more interested in other things rather then our needs and experience. Honestly made me regret how Safeway took away the self checkout. I’ve come here for over 4 years and I’ve had great cashiers like Dena and Brenda, but never will I come at night again and be greeted by someone so rude.

Always clean with good prices. The layout is very nice and it is consistently less crowded than competing stores in the area which makes for a better shopping experience. We appreciate the gas rewards.

Good variety as well as lots of choices about organic. Produce is almost always fresh and good quality. They try to anticipate the needs for clerks so the check out wait isnt agony. Staff seems friendly and willing to go out of their way to help.

Ally was rude and very demanding of our IDs before she could even get the words hello out of her mouth. She was impolite and makes me never want to come shop here at my “local Safeway.” We came here the night before and were only greeted w a look of disgust when we asked to split our receipt. Really horrible customer service here and I wouldn’t comeback unless I had to.

There are some great staff here and generally love this place, but have had some hit or miss issues with bakery and deli items over the last few years that were previously flawless.

I love Safeway . They are great at customer be service and honestly there meat department is one of the best Ive seen . Every time I ask someone where something is they take me to it instead of Walmart who may point you in the right direction but you still may not find it
