The atmosphere in the shop is always cool, being one of the only B7 S4 Avants in the area they know me by name which is cool.So ....if your car is German, take it to Dennis Sherman...I would recommend Dennis Sherman Foreign Car Services to anyone driving a foreign vehicle. 5/5 stars because Ive never had a bad experience here

Scott and the crew there were welcoming and efficient and effective in working on my Mini Cooper S. When I brought it to them, the Mini wasnt running. They were able to diagnose the issue within a day and found it to be a control panel behind the interior fuse panel. They double checked with me every step of the way to make sure they had my approval to continue and were clear about the costs as well. After they had completed the job, they told me that it took less time than they had estimated and lowered the job price accordingly. I am thoroughly impressed with these guys!!

Great place to take your car. They are honest, reliable and very professional. The work they do is great. I visited them for the first time and was treated like royalty. The entire staff greeted me, they were upfront with me and did not recommend unnecessary things for the sake of trying to squeeze more money out of me.

Great service!Took in my BMW for the scheduled oil change. They also inspected everything to make sure nothing else is needed. It was done at the time I was told. Car is running good. Very friendly and honest staff.

BMW 335i Service Engine Soon light which translates to Check Engine light popped on. At first, I was put off by the $100 diagnostic charge, but they put that cost toward the repair. Wound up needing a new spark coil, so Im glad I brought it in and took care of the problem. They saved the old coil for my edification, and answered several unrelated questions I had about the car ...like wheres the battery! ...turns out to be buried somewhere in the trunk! Scott (I think) showed me where the battery terminals are in case I ever let the battery get low and need to charge it. (Luckily they are very accessible under the hood). Scott seemed to feel my pain when it comes to service fees, and that was most appreciated. Overall they did a good professional job with no BS, and in a manner that demonstrated cost effectiveness, and empathy.

A great place to bring your European cars to get serviced or do maintenance. The prices were reasonable and they can get the car ready the next day if you drop it off the night before.

Before buying my 2005 Porsche, I had Dave at Sherman Foreign Car check out the vehicle. They were amazing...great communication, professional, and very fair prices. Dave and the staff care, and it shows. I took the vehicle back for a known issue with the vehicle slow-starting. Dave had told me it could be two things - one of those meant he might need to keep the car overnight to get the part. When I showed, he had already secured one part and the other part that would take a day...he found one locally so I could have my car back in a day. And thats exactly what they did...got my car back the same day without any problems. It runs great and Im super happy.

I found out about them from other review sites. I called them ahead of time to schedule an appointment, and they were very pleasant to talk to over there phone. In a world of circus acts and misleading antics, Dennis Sherman Foreign Car Service is in a class of its own as a trusted partner in keeping your vehicle on the road in proper order without the worry of being ripped off, mislead, or upcharged. I took my 2009 Porsche Cayenne here after being told I needed $5,000+ in repairs from another shop after their check engine light diagnosis.I was out the door at Dennis Sherman for $500 and no more issues while also being informed that the original diagnosis was incorrect and not needed.We need more shops like Dennis Sherman where integrity and trust are still the backbone of their customer service on top of solid craftsmanship. I’ll never bring my car anywhere else for now on.

I have been taking my Porsche to Dennis Sherman for several years and would not go anywhere else. They provide honest and reliable service. They are trustworthy, and for me that is the most important factor.

Another easy peasy car service by a reliable, trustworthy team. Quick, convenient drop off the night before scheduled service. Was advised by phone that due to noise during test drive it sounded like the blower motor failing. Dave said it wasnt critical but would eventually need to be done. He gave me the option of replacing it now which I opted for due to the current heat wave, the cost of replacement and the fact that they were running a 10% discount until the end of the month. As it turned out, the noise was due to the the foam inside blower cover becoming loose and slipping into the blades, so I didnt need the part after all. That is why I LOVE this place! No up-selling, no hard sell and honest, reliable folks to deal with.

Great place to take your foreign car.

Way too expensive diagnostic. I told them that the evaporator code had gone off and he smelled the fuel from the fuel filter and went straight to it. I don’t understand the $98 diagnostic fee for that. Plugging in a code reader when he knew the problem in the first minute. $63 safety check. Huh? For looking around the car for a minute?? $317.50 to install a fuel filter. Make sure you shop around for hourly rates because this is way high and they bill for every second! They are $127 per hour. They say that’s what all Porsche places charge. That is not true, shop around! The only price that was reasonable was for the part, and this is a Porsche!Positives:Super nice staff, clean shop, and quick service.

For a woman who doesnt know much about cars and who can easily taken advantage of because you could tell me anything about whats wrong with my car and Ive had very bad experiences with that before with all kind of dealerships and mechanics but DFC is the best - never had an issue with any of my cars that they couldnt resolve and Ive now been going for years to them. They were basically neighbors at one point but even after I moved quite a bit away I still keep coming back if my car has any kind of issue no matter the distance - they are worth the way :)

Consistently up front and honest about the work needed - including what can be pushed to the right, or just watched. Prices are fair (Porsche/Audi/BMW owners should assume repair costs are what they are), but Dave and Scott go out of their way to look for savings - aftermarket when feasible. Mechanic service is thorough and correct every time. 15 years of having my Audis serviced here.

Ive been bringing my 2006 BMW X5 into Dennis Sherman for about 5 years now and every time I have been extremely pleased with the service I received. I recently brought my car in for a new battery, front brake pads and a lube, oil and filter change. As always, the job was done excellently. It was done timely and the price was very reasonable. I like that the oil change is done at about 7,500 miles instead of having to wait until 15,000 miles at the dealer. The mechanics are very professional and the service advisors, Dave and Scott, are very courteous and knowledgeable.

Been taking Porsches here for perhaps 30 years and would never go anywhere else. Honest, friendly, professional, reasonable and always deliver on time. Just the best.

Just took my 2004 BMW 530i into Dennis Sherman today to get my oil changed. And I was amazed at what I saw when I walked in, this is the CLEANEST mechanic shop I have ever been in, I was sold just on the looks. All the guys there are very friendly and informative about what issues your car might have, even more informative than the BMW dealer I used to take my car too. Dennis Sherman is now my new mechanic for my BMW, I feel confident that I am getting 100% honest and trustworthy work done to my car here. I highly recommend to anyone with a BMW to go check these guys out, you wont be disappointed.

Removed Content:I have dealt with Dennis Sherman of La Mesa for over 15 years and found they were over priced on some issues, but they did try to work with me on emergencies.Since my BMW is an older model, they now REFUSE to work on older model BMWs. My car is an 89 325i and has a few miles on it, but it is a great car and just needs routine work. Still in great condition. Now I am forced to go out of the area to another qualified mechanic for my BMW issues. (Cheaper to keep her and do your own work if possible)Dennis Sherman charges too much and they do make mistakes on their work on occasion.(I.e. leaving screws unfastened, broken connectors not replaced, plastic parts broken during repairs. Lost screws, parts....There was one occasion where my car door was damaged because they backed intosomething and caused a serious Dent int the door. (Another days work and delay, no charge) Hap hazard workers? Maybe.....All in all, I was not happy with their work and excuses and finally refusing to work on an older model BMW because it was not computer friendly to modern diagnosis equipment. (Which doesnt make sense cause you can still hook it up for SMOG tests when I get a smog tested every 2 years??) Just an excuse??

I’ve been taking my 2003 BMW Z4 to Dennis Sherman for about 8 yrs, and will continue as long as I’m driving German cars, their specialty. Fast service but done right the first time, these folks never disappoint whether it’s routine maintenance or something scarier. I really appreciate the no-upsell vibe, excellent counseling in potential long-term issues and as a perk, great advice on potential auto purchases, they’ll let you know if you’re thinking about buying what could be an expensive headache. Coolness factor: there’s always a coupla classic Porsche, VW or BMW examples on the floor if you like to dream! Most recently, I had a recommended oil service upcoming and noticed a minor coolant leak in my garage. I thought it was a transmission coolant line that was faulty and mentioned that when I turn the car in. They diagnosed it as a cracked coolant reservoir, got the replacement part And fixed everything up right away. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else. These guys rock!

I was very impressed with several parts of Dennis Sherman Foreign Car Svcs. The customer service was excellent, their knowledgeability about my late model VW TDi instilled confidence. Even though the building was possibly built in the 40s the shop is so clean, neat and orderly. You could nearly eat off of the floor!I saved about 25% from what the dealership quoted me for an 80k service.I was positively impressed — plus, they were all just likeable guys.I will be going back for sure.
