*First Google review* my boyfriend and I enjoyed our time so much that I had to write a great review. Thompson is a great small business with great customer service. We drove in from Houston to rent Jet Ski’s and the staff were professional and accommodating from start to finish. It was easy getting out to the water as they dropped the jets in the water for us and had an informative quick lesson on how to ride. The Jet Ski’s were fully equipped with safety equipment, life jackets and full tank of gas. (Tip: ride the pink ski if you want to catch more air on waves!) we will definitely be using Thompson again when we visit Clearlake.
I had a blast. The customer service was great and they even stayed open late so we could ride. I was able to ride freely without an guide. THANK YOU THOMPSON POWER SPORTS for making my vacation.
Do not rent jet skis from here! When we first rented the owner was telling us about some young kids had sunk one of the jet skis, I assured him we had experience with jet skis and this would not happen. We rented 2 and I could tell one of the jet skis was not balancing correctly as if it had water in the hull. Sure enough, no long after the jet ski had flipped simply from turning around (going at a slow pace as well). We we attempted to roll it ( we are experienced) and it proved to be very difficult. And yes, we rolled it correctly. Once it was back over the back was already sunk into the water and we had to have it towed out. The owner of course blamed us and we paid $350 plus the rental fee just because we didn’t want to go through the hassle of an attorney etc. thinking back I should have known better when he first said one of the had sunk the day before. When we paid him he said he was going to fix it bc he had rental reservations for the next day.. wow! Be careful.
Upstanding company! Is straight up and honest about what he is selling. Also will stand behind his sales. Treated us very well and will do more business with them.
Had such a great experience!!! Staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable!!!! Prices are great! They had a great deal for a two hour rental!
Call them to see if they had a motor I needed and he said yes it only has 4 hr on it. That was a lie. I came all the way from Kingwood to get the motor. I got there and looked at the motor and it did not look like it only had 4 hr. Checked the motor it was not worth $1000. Cylinder 3 did not have good compression. Waste of my time
The overall experience was not good. First, the jet ski that we rented was not adequately equipped with a fire extinguisher, so we had to wait for then to bring one. After the wait we finally launched the ski. The steering cable was not attached and we could not steer the ski, which resulted in a hard time getting to the dock. They brought us another ski and this one was fine all up until it was put into L-mode which prevented use from moving at normal speeds. Luckilly, we were able to meet at a boat ramp to get off the jet skis.
Well the people are nice. But the equipment is in poor repair. Ill go somewhere else the next time I want a jet ski.
The owner is the man. I brought my seadoo gti in and they charged me half the price of ever other shop. Highly recommend it. These guys know there stuff!!
My experience with them has been as follows: Everything they have replaced has broken shortly after, then they charge me to repair the parts that they already replaced. It generally cost me $300-800 in repairs every time I take my ski out. I am lucky that I got stranded in the middle of clear lake when my 5 year old niece was NOT on board. I keep having to go back for repairs. Still the problems are not fixed and they wont pick up my calls. Left many voicemails. Unacceptable. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Horrible expierence took two of my skis to get a seal replaced and to make sure there in good running order, they replaced the seals no problem told me to pick up the skis, he said they tested them ln the water. Well i took them straight to the water and noticed the skis were tied down the same exact way i tied them when i droped them off and there was still mud on the bottom. So i take em out anyway and one would not even steer the other only drove 5 ft then faulted. So i bring them back and they say they cannot fix the ski they cannot figure out what is wrong with it. So i go to pick up my skis and now have a new balance of 300 dollars after just paying 1000 dollars for nothing. I wanted to speak to someone in charge but they said the owner only comes in every so often what kinda buisness is this. How do u hold someones skis and say “im sorry the person u have to resolve it with isnt here and i dont know when he will be here”. I want someone in. Charge to comtact me but still havnt received a call. I just want my skis back they were never water tested nor were they ever fixed. I would not recomend this place to anyone.
Bought a 5x8 utility trailer from Thompson power sports, the staff at Thompson was fast and courteous.I would recommend this establishment .
The owner Wes cheats people out of money for a living simple as that. Zero integrity. Paid over $2500 for them to put a new motor in my jet ski from overheating, asked them to find out what the original cause of overheating was and to fix it, well Alex told me i sucked up sand and THAT was the reason for overheating. 2 weeks later i pick it up they had a new Thompson power sports sticker on my ski they were telling me how long this ski outta last now and how its fixed right and i drove back home 2 hrs away and drop it in the lake i didnt last 20 minutes on the water and the motor overheated and went into limp mode!!! Wes told me wow he just cant believe it and for me to bring it in right away and so next day i did and tells me NOW that i need a new jet pump cause its not cooling the motor properly !!! Well he happens to have 1 out back he said and he will try to have on for me in a day at a discounted price. So I waited a week and called and Alex said Wes has been out and they have been busy so i said ok i understand. Gave it another 4 days and call and now Alex said its fixed and just need to water test so i was like cool! Well i called 3 days later to see whats going on now he tells me that he actually hasnt gotten around to it yet they have been busy and that it will NOT be discounted price look for it to be around $500+ and still few more days to fix! I try the next few days to reach Wes the owner and he wouldnt ever call me back to speak on this issue so i just went and pick up my ski, Taking buisness elsewhere hoping to get my ski finally fixed right so i can salvage whats left of summer, these guys do not do quality work and zero integrity -Dustin Marek

The guy quoted us $85 to fix a mirror then charged us $203. Even though u can find the mirrors online for $40. This is not the way you treat customers!! U should tell them up front before just charging them. The guy that unloaded and loaded it was rude and signed off on the water craft before taking it back to the shop. He never mentioned a broke mirror at the water. All while they are drinking beer and treating us unprofessionally. Will never return to this establishment.
