UPDATE*** I went back into the shop and they were able to make it right. I appreciate their willingness to help me out.I went into Beach Cities Scuba to buy a dive mask. I grew up in Laguna Beach and wanted to support my local dive shop (I used to frequent this spot before it was owned by beach cities). I need a mask that wasnt going to put pressure on the bridge of my nose. I was told I was only allowed to try on a mask if I was going to buy it right then and there. I tried on a bunch of masks and settled with a riffe mask that was $165... steep but I was prepared to make the investment on a good mask. When I got home, I spent time time wearing the mask but started to feel the pressure on my nose and I wasnt even in the water yet. I went back the next day to return the mask (with the receipt), and they told me I cant return it I could only swap it for another mask and it had to be done within 10 days of purchase. I was frustrated, but willing to give it another shot. I tried on a few more masks with optimism and this time settled with an Atomic single-lens. A few people helped me out with trying on the mask to get a right fit and they were patient with me. It felt better on my nose when trying it in the store. There was a difference of $15 between the two masks and they still wouldnt refund me the leftover money (instead they just tossed in two anti-fogs and said we are even). When I got home, I tried on the mask again and went in a jacuzzi to test it out. It was leaking terribly. I have tried on nearly all the masks in the shop at this point and now I am stuck with a $150 mask that does not work for me and I paid $165 for it. I just want to go dive comfortably around Laguna with my friends... I will be letting them know to avoid this place at all costs.
We did not end up renting from them due to the terrible customer service. I don’t think they actually want the business. We called to ask about Shaw’s cove diving and were told it was terrible. We also told them we were from out of town. We went down to snorkel it and found that instead of 5-10 ft vis it was 15-25 and great life. We went back to pick up Dive gear and were treated so rudely. Terrible customer service!!!
Recommend D.J. and team at BCS for the outstanding service and gear quality. Great selection of products and reasonable pricing.Easy to deal with, very professional - thank you
This shop used it be awesome 6 - 8 yrs ago. The service steadily gone down. $10 for 2500 psi air fills expensive items dont have their information updated (web 6 pm) its practically summer and they are closed at 5 pm. Even if sports chalet is closed these guys dropped the ball. Plenty of other worthy options out there.
A cool, small dive shop right next to the cove. They rent and sell equipment. Good selection, just steps from the beach
We went to rent snorkeling gear and wet suits, and everything went great. The staff were knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. We ended up changing our plans based on their suggestions and had a great time. Parking can be a little tricky (residential street parking), but dont let that keep you away. Great service, decent prices.
Beach Cities Scuba was flexible with my rushed schedule which allowed me to be certified before my trip. My boyfriend actually ended up proposing to me while diving underwater, so that was great. The staff was approachable, fun, and professional.
After a 25 min walk from Surf and sand my girlfriend and I arrived at this store at 10:15am and waited till 10:45 am. business hours were posted on the door opening at 10 am. No one came. No note on the door. As we waited multiple other customers came and left in the time we were waiting. Disappointing
Small dive shop but has all you need for a dive in Laguna Beach. My tank neede a visual inspection and it was done on the spot. Very friendly and knowledgable staff.
We were here over Labor Day weekend and rented suits and gear. Seth and the other staff were great! Even though it was busy and crowded, they were fast, friendly and got us ready to get in the ocean. Wet suits smelled clean, and the prices were very reasonable for a day of fun. Just a walk down the street and stairs to the dive site. Perfect location. How staff treat their customers makes all the difference. This is the dive shop for us!
As you might expect for a dive shop next to one of the most popular dive sites in SoCal, this shop is pricey. $15 for a tank rental! But their gear is surprisingly cheap. Got a mask with educational discount for a good price. Staff was helpful and professional. Overall a great place to go before a dive at Shaws.
I have been diving for 15 years and, in that time, have walked through the front door of many a dive shop. Beach Cities Dive Center, a family business run by Ron and Beth, continues to amaze me.
Excellent company, with fast replies on e-mails, good options for exploring dive sites with someone with local knowledge about the dive sites, good service, good people, highly recommend it!
Amazing experience and the best instructor ever. Her name is Kristina and prepared us well for diving. Highly recommended!
Best dive center in SoCal
Friendly people working there. Knowledge of everything is very good.
Wow!! Just got my open water and this is the first place I come to dive. Sucks enough lugging tanks around but I got one dive in because my second tanks had broken seal and leaked massive. 4 hour drive(one way) for one dive. Told the guys tanks(2 as I was with someone who wouldnt dive without me) are full and hes like OK. Told him about busted seal and he said OK. No refund? Great first experience douche bags.
Great shop with excellent staff, right above Shaw’s Cove.
Ive had excellent experiences with this dive shop, I go there all the time, they are all very nice and professional and also knowledgable about their equipment!
Very helpful indeed.
Great place
