One of the workers k ew the store like the back of their hand and had wonderful service

So I had a really bad experience shopping at the one in the mall yesterday. The man working there was awful. He was rude all the way around to customers. We got the 3 sets of the Fairy Animal books by Lily Small that were in that very location of the buy 2 get a 3rd free. When we brought this to his attention after we paid he was very rude about the whole thing & said that he just put those books there even though they werent part of the sale. He also was really rude to a customer ahead of us over their baby drooling in general. Just a horrible experience. This guy doesnt work well with the public at all. He also doesnt put books where they belong either. I remember in the past having much better service from workers at Books-A-Million before. I understand the storms changed a lot of things in LakeCharles, but it shouldnt change the customer service from being decent.

Clean store and enjoy the way it has been reorganized. The staff is pleasant. Easy to locate book genres. Books, games, and novelty items can be pricey unless clearanced or on sale.

Because I love to read and Im super crazy about planners and Journaling!

The cashier, a man with shoulder length gray hair, was extremely cold and lifeless?!?! I tried to have a conversation with him and he seemed unamused. The store is great, but your employee was unusually strange. If he isn’t good with costumer service,, you may just want to have him stock the shelves.

I’m just glad that we have a local store with a occult knowledge books, Incense, candles, crystals. I am a tarot reader so it’s important to have a local pick up place. Tracimoon.com I do past life regression’s, cord cuttings and I’m really accurate fast and on point, so having a bookstore like this is very important

This store smells like fresh made brownies. Right when you enter the store, this incredible smell hits your nostrils and reminds you of a bake shop or some store that sells sweets. Every time I come to Lake Charles, I have to come to this bookstore, not just for the books, but for the wonderful odor.

The store itself had a large variety of books and was well kept and maintained. Friendly employees.Only thing I dont agree is the company pushing the BAM club - that ALSO automatically enrolls you in an auto-renew. The ONLY way to opt out is to CALL customer service, wait on hold and tell them to remove it - AFTER you sign up for it in store.The elderly and others who dont read fine print (most people) will be taken advantage of.

A really nice place. Pretty much any book you could hope to find and book related items. They also have a pretty decent collection of Vinyl.

Great customer service with friendly and helpful team members. They have great sales and its always clean. If you dont have a lot of time to spend in the store I would call and check to see if they have what you are looking for. A lot of the time they dont have what I am needing, this being said I will always find something nice to buy. They have great gift ideas for all ages too.

Prices are so high, but they do have a large selection of books from every genre. There’s usually someone around to help if needed. I definitely recommend this place as well if you have children that love Ty plushies.

Books-A-Million is My ultimate Favorite spot to go. Its so easy for me to spend 2 to 3 hours, and not realize that time has pass. I enjoy looking for my favoite magazine to my Fiction and non-fiction books. I love the Bible covers and all the spiritual items they have to offer.

Few nice older used book finds. No need to act annoyed that I didnt want to sign up for magazine spam.

LOVE shopping here! Workers are always really helpful and they always keep the store clean and organized. And smelling coffee immediately as you walk in is definitely a plus!

Although I only go to this store whenever Im in town but I have to say it makes me sad that we do not have a Books A Million close by in my hometown! They have a great selection of books and their bargain section is phenomenal! They always have a great variety of books on sale! The coffee shop gets a bonus too because they have frozen hot chocolate! The customer service is really good and I always look forward to coming here whenever Im in Lake Charles!

Don’t go here if you need some WiFi and coffee. I recommend just Starbucks for that. Book selection is nice though.

Books-a-million has so much more than books. I shop for books and movies mostly, and my daughter loves the toy selection above all else, but also enjoys looking at the board games, journals, and kids books. Another thing we enjoy is giving to the various causes BAM participates in, such as coffee for the troops and christmas for the less fortunate.

More than books, extensive book nerd paraphernalia... collectibles, games, board games, even a coffee shop! If they don’t have it they can order it! Great for giving gifts especially last minute gifts! They also buy books and dvds. There is also a book club, discount program. There is a yearly fee for it. All in all, it’s a beautiful book store with a coffee shop and friendly helpful staff members!

I love books, and bookstores. This bookstore is good, they have a nice selection of books and they seem to rotate often in my favorite sections so I see a lot of new books. They have great board games too, lots of variety, from family games to two player strategy games. I dont like the hassle at checkout. They always ask if I am a member, which I am not a member, I have been a member twice and the cost to benefit ratio never worked out for me. Then they always want me to pick a magazine or some other annoying thing when I want to do is pay for my purchase and go.

The man behind the counter was rude and short tempered. Definitely not a people person. Also the employees should be informed and give correct information.

I love books. And I wish I had more time to read. There was a song back in the day that video killed the radio...well, it looks like the internet kill the book store. It is like going back in the nineties. There was people in there, but very few. Staff was freindly and eager to help you find your selection. I went to get a mechanic book. Their car section is called transportation. That is all inclusive of everything transportation. And it was about 4foot wide. No sure if this was their way of combating global warming or just not that much of an interest in automobiles. They did have historical coffee table books, but not much at all regarding maintenance, building, fixing or instructional. Many many magazine publications tho, which I dont like because most are over half ads and some off them were 12$! For a magazine! The four star is for lack of selection for this one interests only. They had many choices on every subject otherwise. This is another brick and mortar stores I really hope doesnt disappear into obscurity.

Finally they reorganization the shelves and much improved in some areas other areas are abysmal.Children and young youth was expanded !! AwesomeDiscount area looks a lot better and is simi organizedThe cafe got upgraded :)The toys and random accessories are was slimmed down which is great to seeBuyback was much needed and welcome to see.. but now they had been overwhelmed, so they are very particular about what they will take.The educational and references section is non existent due to the cook books area was expanded.Anime and manga is slim but some decent picksMagazine and published lit is not always updated and can be months/ issues behindPrices are still a little high and thats a problem with current bookstores everywhere.Bathrooms are horrible!! Its a bookstore and yet I have seen cleaner bathrooms at a fast food

I love their products and they have a great selection. I love that they are buying/selling pre-owned books now. I bought a pre-owned parenting book for half price and it looked brand new.I looked at a pillow and decided not to buy it because I was already spending a lot and it was $25. I decided I really wanted it, so I got online the next day and bought it for $11 off the Books-a-Million website! Why was it so much more in the store?!

I was looking for a really specific kind of book and looked for quite a while before asking an associate who found it in literally (I mean that) five seconds. And the people in the cafe were nice.

Great place to read and relax. Customer service is always amazing. The only reason for 3 stars is due to the men’s bathroom. It’s never cleaned. Very nasty. The last time I went there was toilet paper and feces all over. Complete utter neglect. It made me want to leave the store entirely. I hope they get that taken care of.

They have restrooms the public can use and puzzles.

I will always be a Barns N Noble girl. This store is not diverse in their selection of authors. Always has a very limited selection unless youre looking for Christian books. I like them too but would like a better selection of other kinds of books.

Love this place Ive been coming here for years, I remember being 10 and buying the first Harry Potter book here. Grab a cup of coffee from Joe muggs and read a magazine or visit with friends.

Nice collection of books.. one of the best place to buy the books you want in Lake Charles.. they also have coffee shop inside so if u can sip in if u r tired of browsing through books.. they also conduct various workshop for kids n adults... offers membership option if u r a frequent book buyer; also offer buy back on the books though limited to 6 times & understandably so...

A well-placed, quiet bookstore and a good go-to for the latest and greatest of pop culture memorabilia, contemporary books, and manga/comic books. Orders arrive quickly and prices are justified (although pricey when compared with other hobby shops and local bookstores). Theres a Joe Muggs inside, which I have yet to sample.

Basically the only bookstore in town. It has a weird smell and you could probably find what you want to read at Target just the same. Meaning, the dont have an extensive collection. Not even all of Oprah or Reeses books from their club suggestions are there. Yes, they would order them but so can I.

Books a million is just an all around great place to go.. even grab a cup of coffee sit down and read a book and you can find most books and if you cant they all try to find it for you.

Love shopping in the store, but absolutely hate the high pressure sales tactics at the registers. Make a donation, sign up for a magazine subscription, pay to become a member etc. I got fast talked into the membership which I can deal with, but got an email this morning about being signed up for an auto renewal. Never going back, and will be cancelling the membership.

Me and my family visit here often because we love the feel of the books and the store as it engulfs us in literature.Last night after work, I went to this location alone and entered the store at approximately 830. After browsing and contemplating for about a hour, the store announced its closing in a half hour so I decided to leave.I got in my truck and the battery is dead. No problem I have jumper cables, they didnt work (broken).By this time parking lot security pulls up seeing my hood up and offers to help but there is little they could do, they had no jumper cables.I go inside and ask several employees if they had a set and with luck, one of them did.Here is where my problem is.The manager would not let the employee step out for 2 minutes to grab the cables from the employees vehicle parked not 30 ft away from my own then return inside.So with that I thanked and dismissed the security officer still at my truck, telling him there was nothing else him or I could do.90 degrees sweating in my truck and two hours later I manage to get a jump from a passerby.*update*just got off the phone with a lady manager there now. I was calling to get the name of the manager who would not help out a stranded customer. The lady knew exactly what I was talking about and told me that there were several managers there because of inventory. she would not give me any names. I have called and reported this to corporate. What if this had been your son or daughter and no one would help them? youd probably be pretty pissed.

BAM sucks. lol.. Jk. my self control does. I always find way to much I want or need there. and shopping with 4 teens didnt help. wonderful staff. Amazing selection. this was the night of the mardi gras parade and they were handling it like a boss. Would reccomend and of course go back.
