Very helpful. Recommended to me to repair my bike instead of buying a new one. People who work here seem genuinely interested in getting you your best experience. Trusted me to test ride a bike too while they helped someones car with a flat tire.
Had to get my Front derailleur replaced. They did it while I waited. Fair price for the part and Labor. Highly recommend ! ! ! Great Employees
Very prompt and courteous service will return for future work
I came her specifically for a used bike for my son. They did have one and it was one of the nicer brands so even though it was in bad shape, I said I would take it since they said they would fix it up and put a new seat on it new cables etc. It works great and it was a quick turn around time and they offer free tune ups this year for buying the bike. However, no one working there wears masks which I feel is a must if you are a business. I also ended up paying more than I thought I was going to because of some needed parts which I guess would not be included in the original price they also used used parts to fix it up. Then no one could help me outside because it was busy and I was getting hassled by someone on the street while I put it in my car, so in the end I left feeling a little frustrated.
Cody provided great customer service and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the bikes he is selling.
Awesome people! The sales staff was very courteous and knowledgeable! Purchased a bike for my wife for mothers day ! They let her ride it around to make sure it fit her!
Very friendly and helpful. During these Covid times its hard to get a bike. Others places (Erics) told me that I was basically out of luck and wouldnt even let me try out a bike to see if it was the right size. I went here and they let me try out bikes to get the right fit. They didnt have the size I needed in the bike I wanted but told me they were supposed to get a shipment in the next week. I called them back the next week and they said they got the bike in and then I went and bought it. I would recommend them.
Always quick to get the parts I need even when I can barely describe it. They make at least one part of owning a bicycle painless
Always have had wonderful service here and is my preferred bike shop. Today I went in for a fix I thought might need an overnight but they fixed me up on the spot, tuned up a couple trouble areas, topped off my air and I was good to go in a matter of minutes! I love how they are a no non-sense, get the job done right the first time customer service, while giving you trusted and helpful information along the way. Thats a quality service that makes me always value their business as a return customer. Grateful to have them here when we need them.
I was really happy with my experience here. They were super busy. Which was exciting to see people interesting in getting bikes. I was pretty picky and needed a new road/gavel bike for the first time in years. They walked me through options. Talked to me in (mostly) layman’s terms about what was going on with the components and parts. I appreciated it. Took it for a spin and was ready to go. Quick and easy I had a bike. Looking forward to going back for tuneups. Cool crew.
Went to this place to buy some tubes for my road bike in June, after I moved to a neighborhood close by. One of the owners and/or managers was talking loudly to another customer and literally saying Masks are for sissies. With no irony, 100% serious. Fast forward about 300,000 deaths later in this country - Ive never been back to this shop and probably never will be, even though this is the closest bike shop to me I would rather go out of my way rather than give them my business.
Great bike store been doing business with them long time always have what I need or can get or they can fix it!
Good except no masks. I’d recommend avoiding here if you care about not spreading the plague
New to the area and stopped in on a friends recommendation. Needed some help tightening a loose break cable. Was helped immediately and there was no charge. Will for sure check here first if I need additional maintenance or equipment.
I had quite the back and forth picking up parts and trying things out. Eventually I just dropped off what I needed. and they fixed it in a timely manner. Also providing suggestions on my end. Thanks again.
I needed assistances replacing my bike seat. Cody was not only quick but attentive and excellence customer service! Highly recommend this shop for all bikes!
Riverfront Cycle is an excellent place to buy a bike or have your current bike serviced. Dave and his staff are very helpful and know their products. Excellent service department and great prices. I highly recommend Riverfront Cycle
These guys very helpful fast friendly service thank you.
What a pleasant place. Mid December visit. Dave very knowledgeable and patient as he thoroughly answered all of our questions even though we said we were not ready make a purchase. Good guy.
I brought in a 1961 Steel frame Schwinn in need of some general maintenance to get it roadworthy again. Riverfront identified the major issues (new tires and a new brake line needed), provided the parts and did all the labor for well under $100. I love my bike, and Im very grateful for the work done to make it roadworthy again!
Nice guys! They didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need and helped me out when I was in need of parts quickly. Will be making this my go to bike shop.
The guys here at wonderfully helpful and great to work with!! Makes me wish I could buy/spruce up bikes more than once a year.
We recently purchased two bikes from riverfront. We were excited to get started with some high quality hybrids. Aaron greeted us immediately upon entering, asked us a few questions about what we wanted to do with the bikes and guided us through the process. He let us test ride as many bikes as we wanted and Ultimately we chose a pair of Giants. He also helped us set up our bike rack free of charge! We were very pleased with service and quality of the bikes and the knowledge that Aaron had. We feel like we got the right sized bike and were guided to make the right choice for us, not just being sold to get a sale. Highly recommend!
Thank you Riverfront Cycle. We need to support more local shops like this one. With years of experience and highly knowledgeable staff/cyclists you cant go wrong with this great place. Youll either find what you need or Dave will find it for you!Thank you for years of expert advise and helping me find a great new ride every time I was in need.Keep it local and our dollars go back to the community!
I purchased a bicycle from them about 6 years, and was happy with that experience. I take it back once a year for a tune-up, and the last 2 years have seen a decline, with this year being the last straw for me. I went there in mid-April to drop it off for a tune-up. They indicated they were 3 weeks out on service, so they took my name and #, gave me a ticket stub, and said they would call me when my turn came up. Its now July and I never heard from them. I did call them in May, and they indicated they were catching up and would contact me. When June came around, same deal, never did the say Im sorry just bring it in, we lost your name, etc, just said we will call you. So I gave up and took it to Velocipede in East Lansing. They turned it around in a week for me. Its great if Riverfront has that much work, but then they need to add help to handle that work. Were in the market for 2 new bicycles, and I believe I am going to pass on Riverfront and give Velocipede our business.
What a great shop. I walked in to a few big box stores and couldnt find anyone with enough knowledge to help me fit the right bike.Dave at Riverfront Cycle immediately showed me multiple options, fit me perfectly, and I couldnt be happier. You cant find service like this anymore. This is a great local business we should all support. Thank you again Dave!
I was greeted by a extremely helpful employee. He had helped with the bike I wanted and made sure it was up to tip top shape for me. Quite honestly, it was the best experience I had at a store in a while! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an good bike and good service!
Dave at Riverfront was exceptional from his diagnosis and knowledge of my bike problem, to his kind demeanor. I sincerely appreciate walking into this business and having an experienced cyclist and mechanic to not only fix my bike, but boost my confidence and passion for cycling. Thank you!
Went in and tried to buy more bike than I needed as an entry level rider. Dave actually talked me into spending less and I left very satisfied. Ive been back 3-4 times for little purchases since and then stopped in and he was able to sell a great bike to my wife as well. Honest, informative, and responsive. Highly recommend.
I love this place! I come in often with very minor issues and they are quick to help and kind too. I have learned so much about cycling every time I go because they always educate me on how to make repairs myself in the the future. I will always recommend this place to anyone who will listen.
Friendly people, terriffic service, excellent value. I dropped off my bike for a brake repair on a Wednesday morning. They called me to let me know it was done at 3pm that same day. When they called, I asked them to add a tire replacement, and they had THAT done in an hour. Then the bill was 40% less than I would have expected at most other bike shops. These guys will have my business for all of my bike needs from now on. 👍👍
Knowledgeable, low-key staff. If you want a bike shop staff to know about bikes, how they work, and how to repair them, this is the place to go. If you want a shop where its fluffy and cute, well, maybe you should keep looking. Riverfront staff can suggest solutions to your biking issues like a new saddle or tires that can handle city streets, and they wont overcharge you.
I stopped in to look at their used bikes for my wife and the staff were so very helpful. They all seem to be extremely knowledgeable about bikes and cycling but not in an intimidating or condescending way at all. They probably have the largest selection of new bikes and accessories in Lansing as well as having quite a few used bikes in amazing condition. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND checking them out.I ended up getting a really nice cruiser from them and my wife LOVES it. Thanks Riverfront!!
Helpful staff.I brought an older bike for some adjustments and the staff was very helpful and quick.Im looking for a new bike not top of the line and the staff has been very helpful and educating me. I have not felt pressured and their are not pushing me to buy anything above than what I need. I hope to be closing on a new bike with them this week or next. Ive been at the store 3 times and they have been very patient working with me
Service is always top notch. Sales people are very helpful and know what they are talking about. The owner bent over backwards to get me the best deal possible on my elliptical and a bike for my daughter. Highly recommend Riverfront cycle.
Great service, reasonable prices, friendly staff. Riverfront is my go-to place for when my road bike needs some TLC.
This bike shop is awesome! We walked in needing help and they didn’t hesitate to do what it took. This is exactly why communities need small businesses like this one. Thank you Riverside!
Went here for a little re-spokeing and walked out paying less than I expected. Good service and quality work.
Ive been coming here since I started bike commuting about two years ago. My repairs have always been performed quickly and the prices are reasonable. Theyve also been good about answering my general bike questions.
Just Dont understand why no one wears a 🎭
Overall good local bike shop. lots of great bikes at reasonable prices. Dave is the owner/manager and hes a stand-up dude. He cant always seem to get the best employees...but some are awesome. They come and go. An LBS is only as good as its manager and mechanic. So, build a relationship with the right person and youll be set.
First went to these guys in fall of 13, trying to get my bike set up to train indoors. Dave was extremely helpful, asked more than he told, made sure that the bike fit me. So, I went back this spring to upgrade my bike. They once again sought to understand my needs and get me the right bike. Ive put about 300 miles on it now, and I love it. Thanks, Dave.
The service was surprisingly friendly, even during the busy season. I left my Schwinn Circuit for service, and received it back a few days later in better condition than when I had bought it new!
I needed a rear hydraulic breaking system for my Scott Aspect, normally I would order it online but Im going on vacation and cant wait. i called Spin and they said they had them in stock, i get there and they told me they could order it, so I left upset and went to Riverside Cycle, Ive never been there before but Dave the owner hooked me up and he has the best customer service that I can recall in a bike shop. Great store, great service, great prices. Thank you dave!!! Riverside is my new bike shop.
My bike needed a lot of work. I was hoping it would be done so I could get some riding in over Memorial Day weekend. Even though they were incredibly busy, Damien *stayed after hours* to finish my bike and called me to pick it up. I call that some fine customer service. Im so happy!
Dropped my bike off and was told to expect a call within a couple days. At day 8 I called and inquired, and was told, very rudely, that no one had repaired my bike and they would call me when it is done. So I wait. And at day 18 I call and they tell me they need to fix my rim. I say sure of course. They tell me they will call me that night. No call. I come in the next day and they hadnt touched it. They hadnt even checked to see they had he rim in the right color. Just very frustrating to be told what to expect and then receiving something different
Dave, whom I am to guess is the proprietor of this bike shop, did me a solid and fixed my ride for a buck. Even though it was just the handlebars a quick fix, he showed me some thin I didnt know and hardly charged me. He will be my go to for all my bike needs from here on out.
Extremely knowledgeable and professional staff. Always willing to help you out with anything you need.
Riverfront is my neighborhood cycle shop and my husband and I love supporting them. Its a very relaxed atmosphere and the staff is super knowledgable and helpful. Weve had one or two times weve been a little unhappy (bike repair wasnt ready when they estimated -- for a bike commuter, thats a real bummer! Another time there was a miscommunication and an additional, more expensive repair was done on my bike without us being properly notified notified). However, I can name a much longer list of ways the mechanics, and Dave in particular, have gone above and beyond for us: extremely fair prices (when paying for a repair, I frequently say, Is that ALL?), helping us get our poorly taken care of rusted bike rack off the back of our car (and not charging us for time or the new part given to us to make it functional again), great counsel on bike purchases (telling my husband hell get more bang for his buck if he purchases a less expensive mountain bike), etc. We love having them as our bike doctors. :)
Great customer service, the bike they recommended an offer to me ended up not being in stock. Being that I was heading 3 hours north for work they lent me a comparable bike to what I ordered in the meantime. Dont hesitant in buying a bike from these guys.
Great place. Always come into here to get air for my tires, got a used bike for a fair price from there several years ago, and the thing runs great. Storefront is clean and organized, and the staff all seems informative but low pressure on selling stuff. A fellow named Dameon helped me to get my new bike tire tube in properly after the first one I put in didnt go so well and popped upon inflation; my fault.
R.C. does good work, yet are inconsistent in when the say they willnbe open when the DO open. They also seem understaffed. I simply needed a bicycle tire patched. A simple 15-20 minute job is taking over 5 hours to get to. I toke my bike in at 9:30 AM, & it is almost 3 PM & I am still waiting on it to be finished.
Took my bike here a few days ago to get some new pedals on it, from which they have a good selection of. I left it there overnight and picked it up the next day.
Riverfront Cycle has consistently offered me great customer service and affordable prices. The staff is always ready to talk bikes with their customers, and the selection of bikes on hand is excellent. They also have displays set up with all the common accessories you may need, and plenty of parts to choose from. Located right off the river trail near LCC, Riverfront Cycle is an excellent local bike shop, definitely worth checking out.
Ive been coming here for years, and Im always very satisfied. Last time I was in there, Dave sold me a new freewheel and installed it, real quick, no problem, fair price—as always. Ive left my bike with them overnight for more involved repairs, but they always treat the task as urgent and seek to get me on the road again ASAP. They explain what theyre doing, ask me appropriate questions, but speak to me like a real person whos come in for their expertise and skill. Independent businesses like this sometimes have trouble with internet reviews because yuppies are accustomed to corporate megastores where exploited workers are forced to treat customers like idiot grandees in some kind of H.G. Wells post-apocalyptic dystopia. This is not that. I think youll be pleased.
Saved my bacon with a quick wheel fix (two broken spokes). Had me back on the road in 20 minutes! Great service. Very friendly.
An absolute waste of time. Was originally told a week and a half for a simple tuneup - called two weeks later and there were 3 bikes ahead of me, employee told me I could expect it ready in the next couple days. Waited a week. no call. Called back. An employee then told me there were now FOUR bikes ahead of me and it would be another 4 days or so. Very rude staff and communication this whole time. The saga continued for over a month until I just decided to pick my bike off and take it to Spin in Old Town. A much better experience and the staff is a lot friendlier. What a waste of time, energy and beautiful Summer bikeriding days! An exhausting experience that I would hate anyone else to go through.
They were to fix my seat on my Teck, and made it worse, and the mechanic said I broke it, I was right there and seen him break it, they are liars and worthless.
I read the reviews and needed to barrel tensioners for a bike and thought I would give this place a shot. The person running the counter had no idea what I needed and went to the back to get a gentleman from the back room. I can see why after interacting with this older gentleman why the negative statements were made by others. I told him that the barrels were for a mountain bike and he said he didnt know what size I needed. Thats fine...show me what you have and I will take a guess. I did drive from Hastings for the 3 dollars worth of parts so if I buy the wrong thing its on me. Then came to paying for them...3 dollars...but I wanted to put this on my debit card...Dont you have cash for this? I believe if I had wanted to pay cash I would have handed him this paper stuff called a bill...instead it was plastic. You kids never carry any cash any more. This is a pain for 3 dollars. I had intended on buying more as I needed new gloves and grips but instead he saved me my 75 dollars. I probably wont be comming back.
Bought a tube for the flat back tire on my bike. Almost instantly went flat. Took it back n they said... Oh yeah we knew there were a couple of these tubes that arrived with a hole. They put a new one in. CONSTANTLY have to keep putting air in it. WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!!
They fixed the brake cable on my walker. Quick and at the right price.ThanksChuck GoodrichAll Auto Service
Friendly and knowledgeable, what else can you ask for?
Pick up my first ebike today staff was very helpful and knowledgeable
I went to Riverfront Cycle to get my bike all fixed up so that I could start training to do triathlons. (I say, I pimped my ride, haha.) Damian was the staff person who assisted me and he was extremely helpful, and not pushy at all- which I love. I know virtually nothing about bikes- but he patiently answered all of my questions. It was a little pricy, but the turn around was very fast. I would recommend Riverfront Cycle!!!
Ive given a poor rating in the past because I couldnt ever get ahold of anyone to do break in period service on a recently purchased bike, few months. After several attempts I did have it serviced. The front fork ring seal is sliding up the fork, it is new. They serviced the bike, according to them, but they didnt even fix the seal. Are they going to let the shock fail so I come in for a fork repair? It is basically a dust ring, why not glue it on, or fix it for the kid since his dad explained the situation. Dropped the ball on more sales. Okemos was happy on my next purchase.
Bought my first Giant from them maybe 20 years ago, bought 4 new bikes there in 2015. Great shop, nice folks, selling excellent bikes!
These guys know their business. Clean shop, helpful staff, and a good location. They have a good selection of parts and accessories.
Bought a new giant bike, and love it . The bike is great and the staff was awesome.
It cost me $13 for a new tube because my old one had a hole in it. They put a new one in and on my ride home (which is a 5 mile ride) the tire went flat. Turns out they didnt check to make sure my rim tape was in place so the spoke punctured the tube again.
Very good and honest owner does good work with quality parts I worked here one summer and got to see that they do good work in the back
Rob was GREAT !! Fixed my tire super fast . Thanks
Rude staff and extremely disorganized. All I needed was a simple repair (new brake pads) but it took over three weeks. I will be surprised if this place makes it in the long term. The staff had no reason why it took so long, and they did not even apologize for the vast inconvenience.
I cant recommended Riverfront Cycle. I went in to replace my punctured tubes (mountain bike met thorns). They said they would take care of it. However, they didnt even clear the debris from my tires let alone look for punctures. I ended up replacing their replacements within a week.
Purchased a nice bike from there. Took it back a week later to swap out crank for a custom one I had. Did fine work except they extremely over tightened my back wheel, causing lots & lots of scratches. Dented/severely damaged where rear axle fits causing difficultly fully tightening rear wheel. As far as repairs 2 stars,For service, I wasnt greeted or acknowledged. I had to interrupt a few emplyees chatting so I could pay for the bike is wanted. Luckily I knew & they had exactly what I wanted. & purchased solely from There because bike was on clearance... fortunatelyService I give 1 star
Brought my sons bicycle in to have the loose handle bars fixed; they tightened everything up and did it all for free. The level of service they provide will keep me returning to this shop.
Good quick service on a flat, but they lost keys and messed up another repair while I was there. Caveat emptor
Staff is friendly and helpful but they are woefully disorganized. Held onto my bike for over two weeks without giving me a timeframe.
I went in to get a missing part for my quick release axle, and received excellent help and advice. When Im looking to upgrade my bicycle, I always stop here first.
Bought a Giant Defy 3 Composite in August, they were helpful during the purchase process and have been knowledgable every time I have been there, was recently there to replace my cleats and have my derailer adjusted. They showed me how to adjust the derailer so that I can do it myself in the future. I will alway go here first for bike parts and supplies.
Riverfront Cycle is one of the most disorganized places - the staff is extremely rude to their customers - they must have dealt with enough unhappy customers that they just dont care anymore. An exhausting experience and a complete waste of time for repairs. Cyclists beware!
Really nice and helpful
Knowledgeable, skilled.
Called to ask if they could assemble a bike. Person on phone asked sarcastically well what do you think. Rude customer service. Wont be getting my bike assembled there.
Staff were very helpful and friendly!
I usually love to support local businesses, but there was SO MUCH miscommunication and false expectations set in terms of timeline for a simple tuneup.
I went in looking for a replacement MT Bike wheel. The sales guy looked annoyed that I was there. After he rifled around the back room for 20 minutes he studders and says that they dont deal with anything than the best stuff and all they had was the brand new stuff. Im still searching for a wheel but man, what a douche bag.
This place is awesome
