My first trip to the store. I went for a single item and found it. IMHO the selection of stuff is great but prices are hefty. Convenient free parking which is a real perk in Old Town these days. Staff was friendly but a little TOO helpful. She asked great questions but physically blocked me from my merchandise goal, seemed obsessed with giving me a shopping basket (I didnt need one) and super extra packaged my purchase. Just a simple bag would have done the trick. Ill go back to explore more but Ill brace myself first

Excellent local store with some unique goodies and gift items.

I love everything about this store - the super friendly staff and owner, the cool vegan chocolates, the coffee (especially the free coffee sample so I can drink while I browse) and the local Michigan items, both products and foods. I also love that I can go get an inexpensive, but good bottle of wine which makes a perfect gift when Im on the run somewhere. Another great thing is they have a customer loyalty reward program so every once in a while, Im surprised at the register with something off my order.

The Old Town General Store is a great place to pick up a premade gift basket full of Michigan-specific treats, or you can select items yourself and have a basket assembled. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Both me and the company I work for use this place regularly to provide gifts to friends/clients.

I absolutely love visiting the General Store. The staff is very knowledgeable, welcoming and friendly. The owner is awesome and is always present and ready to help with whatever youre looking for. I try to go over to the Old Town area at least once a month. The wine and beer selection are awesome and lots of yummy snacks! If youre in the Old Town area, I definitely recommend stopping in!

OMG, if you havent checked this place out yet, you *NEED* to -- especially if Michigan fare or finery is your forte. Theres a reason theyve won Best Gift Shop in the City Pulses Top of the Town two years in a row now. Rhea and staff make this place feel like an oasis of positive vibes. Check out their gift baskets, extensive beer and wine selections, locally roasted coffees (some right down the street!), and, seasonally, their concerts in the courtyard.

My parents live just around the corner, and I love coming to this store every time I come to visit. They always have the neatest little gifts, and Michigan themed gear. They feature products by the Detroit Grooming Company, and they make some of the best mustache wax I have used. I always stock up when Im here.

Love locally owned places! This shop does not disappoint if you like local produce & good healthy organic options right around the corner. I wish prices were a bit more affordable on some items however I will keep giving them business for certain items on a regular basis.

I was visiting from out of town, but I really like this place. It has local art, really good snacks, and a big selection of local beer. The music they played was cool too.

I go here alot. The staff is all very kind and the selection is very eccentric. Kind of like a gift shop mixed with a minor grocery store. What do they call those? Oh yea! A general store.

A welcome addition to Old Town. A small grocery store with all things local. Band plays on Thursday nights in their backyard for a small admission charge. Can enjoy alcohol out there.

A lot of fair trade items and some really cool Michigander gear. Another thing to note Id that they have a nice selection of wine!

A great place for gifts, especially for out of town folks and tourists. There is also a lot of local/regional faire from art to wine that can surprise locals as well. Stop in and say hello.
