This location is better than some of the others. It has a small selection of produce and when the salad bar was running, it was great! Unfortunately the cafe leaves much to be desired. They are usually out of most ingredients and the display cases for deli items are very sad. Decent packaged goods section for a quick stop of your usual health food.

Best vegan burger in the area! Kind and helpful staff as well.

I have to give BH a 4 for effort. I use this store as a quick stop for health foods. Besides being a bit too expensive, the staff (manager) tends to be rude, the cafe is often clueless and prepares meals and smoothies incorrectly, the store doesnt do quality checks. Oh! The last minute change in store hours with no explanation. Horrible.Other than that the cashiers are nice! And its quick.Not bad but seriously could be better! Id still go there in a pinch.

Wouldnt allow me to shop without a mask despite having a medical exemption. Everything was fine until I got to the register. I have a doctors note but they made quite clear it didnt matter. I will not be back.The worse part was after being told I couldnt shop there and as I was leaving the store another employee approached me at the door to give me a lecture. Mind you I asked this employee for help prior to the whole incident taking place. I was leaving, they couldve left it alone.

Great selection, decent prices and discounts, considering the speciality nature of most items. The deli section is great, but would recommend making things more often than once a week. Overall a good experience, although the employees could be nicer, but hey, we get it, working isn’t any fun.

I use to love shopping at frandor! But I’m sharing this review to let businesses there know I rarely go there anymore because of the anti abortion protestors outside the better health store!! I’m not against free speech, personal opinions, and I consider myself religious. Im just sick of all the hate towards others!! The anti abortion people are there so often I can’t believe they are not required to pay rent$$.I’m sorry you would have to get a city permit anywhere else to occupy the sidewalk and private parking every day like that !! Their personal opinions are affecting your pockets $$ and businesses!! I’ve witnessed several times cars slow down and try and read the signs!! It’s a hazard and hateful!! The world has enough hate! They are not occupying public space that’s someone property!!I no longer go to your store because of them!!

First time ever ordering lunch from here and got the entirely wrong salad. This is literally lettuce, salmon and cheese. It was supposed to be a greek salad. Im beyond irritated and disappointed.

Ive tried to tolerate it. Today is the last day I paid my time there. Like many reviewers have noticed, the customer service is lukewarm at best and dismissive at worst. I personally dont like the constant misinformation given to me and their attitude as if I had experienced delusion. I tell you two stories to back this up.1. I found out that they didnt have walnut milk, my favorite, so I asked the manager to help me order through his distributors. He told me to come next Monday. I came back; a guy snappily asked if I received a phone call. I didnt know what he meant. Then he told me that Id have to get a phone call in order to come get my items. I told him the manager didnt tell me that. Well my order didnt come that day. But I caught the manager again in the store. He told me that the distributors couldnt deliver them the last time but he would put in a new order and I would have to come back next week. I asked if I needed a phone call. He said I should just come back. Well the same story repeated itself. So I decided to save myself the trouble and just waited. For a while. Then when I was about to give up on waiting and deciding to buy my milk online, a call came and my items arrived. When I checked them out, it was on a weekday and I had automatic 20% off for my membership. This detail will be relevant below.2. When I first started to shop here, they told me that I would have 20% with membership during weekends. Yes a cashier told me that face to face when I was checking out. That 20% off is applicable to items that are not on sale. So then I shopped there during the weekends. After a few weeks, a gentleman told me that that had changed and now I could have the 20% off deal during any day of the week; he said that certainly boosted the sale. So now I started to go there any day of the week. How many times did I have that deal, 20% off for not on-sale item? THREE TIMES. Fast forward to today, the same old lady rang me up. When I noticed that my membership didnt automatically get that deal kicked in, I reminded her. She then spent time explaining to me that this automatic 20% wasnt true - basically negating all what I had experienced before. She then told me I must have had a coupon, which no one said it before, and then she proceeded to explain how coupons work in groceries store like Kroger in general. I insisted that I wasnt just told, I was actually having the 20% off before and I would need to talk to another person. Frankly, I got tired with this back and forth. She said go ahead. Another person came and told me that the 20% automatic off deal had changed and now I would need a coupon. Ok, I can handle changes. What I cant handle is someone told me that what I experienced and got told wasnt true, all the while, trying to interrupt my conversation with another person. Have you felt that you hear the other person said but they are not hearing what you said? Its like that with that woman.When I got back home, I started to remember:The SECOND time I had this automatic 20% off deal, THIS OLD LADY WAS THE ONE WHO RANG ME UP AND APPLIED THAT TO ME, WITHOUT THE WHOLE COUPON RANT. It wasnt even on the weekends.If you like to deal with clueless, forgetful people who like to make you out to be like that instead of them, well I guess you would enjoy the place. Im checked out today.

News Flash! Scientific break through in East Lansing. A cashier discovers that you can NOT get coronavirus when you take off your mask to purchase alcohol. This is the only exception! Masks are required, posted on the door and ordered by the health department, just not to purchase alcohol. Bad news for healthy shoppers that want to stay healthy and alive.

This is a very nice large store with a lot to choose from including a nice eat-in buffet with healthy foods choice. So glad we have Better Health Store to shop at. It has saved us money. Love the store. Staff are friendly and will help you.

I love this store! Everytime I go I find more items I did not know they had. The store is always clean and organized. Last time I went I found a spinach and feta pasty. Its was very good!

Great advice and selection but theres a repeated, looming notion I get that theres not positive talk about me by some.

This store always has a wide variety and selection to choose from. Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable which is always a plus in my book. During the week they have an open lunch bar and a salad bar which is awesome too. Food is normally good; some days its better than other days.

Great hot/cold bar with healthy foods for example todays selections were salmon, yellow squash, quiches and of course the salad bar. Great hot coffee. Small dairy section. It is priced higher than the other organic stores but it is situated in a location that is starving for healthy food selections so i appreciate it being here.

Called ahead of time to place an order for the cafe and we ended up getting there before we actually got connected. We decided to do grab and go and the food was so old and disgusting we couldnt eat it. The grapes were covered in mold, the tortilla wrap was so soggy you couldnt pick it up, the salad was soft and old. I dont know if they change their date on their stickers or just use really awful produce to begin, but we will never again be going here.The customer service was also terrible. First of all couldnt connect us on the phone, get in and there are 3 people at the check out leaning on the counters, on their phones, and gabbing. Greeted by no one even though the place is dead. Another customer was having a hard time flagging down someone to order food at the cafe.Also the food at the hot bar looked like it had been sitting their for days. So grossed out by this location.

I love their lunch buffet. The food choices are different every day, but typically they have chicken or salmon and veggies and dessert. The staff is always friendly and very helpful if you ever need help finding the right vitamins or other products.

My daughter bought me a groupon for $50.00 at Better Health for Christmas. I purchased various items including Mascara. I loved all the items except the mascara which I was allergic. I tried to return the item thinking I would get an in-store credit, but instead they only gave me half of what I paid. I also spent more than the $50.00, ($65.00) I was entitled I thought the whole idea of the groupon was to get more customers. The other items I bought that I was happy with, but I will just purchase them on Amazon. For $6.00 they lost a good customer. I am very disappointed.

Please support any other health food store in the area with your patronage. Fresh Thyme, Foods for Living and Whole Foods arent very far from here and any of them would serve you better. If you are considering employment at this location, I would sternly urge you to find another job.

They had a redesign and its much better now. Ive always liked the cafe and their sandwiches, cookies, cold deli, ect.. they have a very nice selection and with the text coupons the price is decently low. Worst part is some of the people, but others are awesome!

Ive shopped here more than 20 yrs and have seen it evolved with better selections overall, however, the produce section is quite small, especially organic. Ive had good service at the register from most of the employees. We all have bad days and I attribute that to the unfriendly ones. The prices are a little better than the other health food stores in the area for some items. All in all my experience is good.

The woman I talked to on the phone was incredibly rude. Wouldnt let me finish my question and hung up on me. Wont be going to either location to find out if they are rude in person as well.

Much better than W saginaw St store. Much bigger, better selection, better lighting, music is just soft background music unlike obnoxious loud rock music at W Saginaw store. Herbalists are very knowledgeable. Also has cafe and fresh food and juices available too unlike W Saginaw store.

I usually spend approximately $150 a week at this store as part of my regular grocery shopping, however my last few trips there have been less than satisfactory. 1. Items purchased have been spoiled. 2. Clerks at checkout seemed annoyed that I brought my own shopping bags and with the amount of food I am purchasing. 3. I was charged for an item I did not purchase from a mistake by the cashier. When I asked her if she corrected she said yes. Then when my receipt printed it showed she did not correct it and she continued to deny it and would not help me any further. I like the tupw of food they offer, but I will no longer be shopping there.

Staff are always knowledgeable and helpful. I really like this store and the prices are great too! Feel like I was reprimanded because my mask slipped a little and failed to cover my nose entirely when I was asking a question, after I spent a considerable amount of money at this store!!

They dont have a great selection of organic produce, although they do have a large amount of gluten free products. I am displeased with their return policies. I tried to return a product, unopened, but because the store used a coupon for a certain amount off from the total price, the kid working wouldnt give me my money back - only store credit. I know they could return it because the day before I had returned items there from that same purchase date. So it was just ridiculous - and I had to wait FOREVER to find out they werent going to accept it, just give me a store credit that I am not thrilled to have since I had already decided I wasnt going to go to this store any more. Foods for Living is where its at!

Very convenient location and they have most of the items I buy regularly. Sign up for their discounts and you get anywhere from 10 to 20% off. With that, their prices are comparable to other stores.

No Gluten Free Deboles Elbow corn noodles for over a year now on those shelves. When you ask customer service when will they have the noodles in stock, They turn around and say they dont have room for them..Wow! Thats down right sloppy, What a silly excuse. Why cant you people just place the order?! Or place it and just have ME pick it up and pay for the damn product. Jesus Christ. Make life so complicated for some damn Noddles...

Small produce section with conventional and organic foods sometimes mixed. When I started going and asked staff if unmarked fruit was organic, I was told all of it was. The man in charge of the produce stood near by and I noticed him shake his head. I wouldnt have known anything was wrong if I hadnt caught it out of the corner of my eye and went over to ask him about it. Watch the register. Overcharging is fairly common. The cafe is a nice option. Good organic bulk cofree. Nice variety of supplements and a probiotic fridge. Ask for the code and number to txt for a discount from 10% - 20 % off, or sign up for membership for the savings.

Great place to go for Gluten Free food choices

The Customer Service has improved drastically since the other ratings, the cashiers are extra friendly, even going so far as to remembering your name if you shop there often. They converse with you at checkout and this BH has a larger selection that the one on West Saginaw.I would give it 5 stars if it was not for there crappy computer/checkout systems. It is almost always not current with promotions and sales so I get overcharged and end up having to come back for a refund ... seriously irritating. The fact that they talk to you at checkout doesnt help because it distracts you from making sure you are being charged correctly.Other than that, FFL and Co-Op are worth the drive, wider selections between the two stores and you can bargain shop between those two. The hassle of getting overcharged or mistakes being made is not worth the extra $1 you save by shopping here instead of in Okemos.Also the West Saginaw Better Health has items that this store does not, even though it is smaller. I use to shop here all the time but now I only go here to purchase specific items that I know I an unable to get at other stores just for the convenience of not having things screw up at checkout.

I am very disappointed with this better health store. They unique selling point of this store was their wild caught salmon. They have made ton of excuses as to why they cannot bring it back and instead have been serving people farm salmon. Think about after repeatedly telling tasha the cafe manager, she refuses to understand the reason what makes customers come here. We have many options in town for supplements, organic foods, health foods... etc.. foods for living, fresh thyme, food co-op and the upcoming whole foods.. and i am not even counting meijers and the other chains. Ocassionally you hear from this store management it is a temporary thing..we could not get supply.. or we could not afford or we have to charge a different rate or some baloney. The bottom line is tasha and paul with their limited management skills have driven the cafe at this store into the ground. The reason is they are trying short cuts.. because they do not know how to deliver wild caught salmon in an efficient manner. They even tried half off group ons for the entire cafe menu. I would urge corporate to get wild caught salmon back here. The management of this store is ruining your brand name in lansing, michigan. They have 5 or 6 people working on slow evening shifts, they run out of cookies on friday afternoon with no plan for weekend baked goods availability, instead of making fresh salads and other products they have started buying package quinoa and tabouli salads from a vendor, they have raised the prices on all menu items.. they have re directed from wild organic type stuff to package farm caged antibiotic ridden products in the pursuit of not getting fired or managing the costs and profits. In this process you can see tasha and phil or paul alway stressed out and burnt out.. always telling customers in an embarassed way oh we will get the wild caught salmon back.. oh we will mend our ways.. its been more than 3 months.. they are lying and because of this deciet i refuse to go to this store again.The situation is so bad.. you can see the amount of turnover in the cafe staff.. it keeps changing.. the quality of the other products is also going down. I would urge all in the lansing community to take your business elsewhere until they make serious changes. Get back to wild caught salmon two days a week, and label it that way too.. dont continue with your fake salmon and pass it off as wild caught like your doing right now.. improve your training and quality.. otherwise no one is going to come to your store once whole foods opens up.. and i have written to all the similar stores in the area.. what is going at the better health store in lansing at frandor.. hopefully they pick up on this and start offering wild caught salmon and take your main customer unique selling proposition away.. you had a chance and wasted it.. what is the point of your useless renovation.. your not offering anything unique anymore.. you were.. but not anymore.. good luck in bankruptcy.. and i no longer recommend this to anyone.
