Past Tense is a store that has an eclectic mix of home accessories. From old time candies, soap, jewellery, accoutrements to garden 🪴 and home accents...there is something for everyone. I see something different every time I visit the store. You could get lost in here for hours wandering and imagining ideas. I especially like to visit at Halloween 🎃 to see all their decorations. Visit their cafe for cinnamon donuts, homemade bread, brownies, cookies or have lunch...the food will not disappoint. The price on some of their home items is a bit more, but even those prices are worth it. If you’re in Lapeer, check this place out!

They are awesome! Did the corn maze early in the season and loved it, nice and big and definitely worth the cost. The hot caramel cider is my favorite! Decided to get the 3-combo pass for After Dark and experience everything haunted, but when that weekend rolled around Michigan weather would not comply and they had to cancel the haunted hay ride and corn maze. Talked to Mark and he was very understanding and refunded the tickets. Cant wait for next year to try the haunted hay ride and corn maze BEFORE Michigan weather does its thing.

The best donuts and cider, cider slushes, ice cream and baked goods. We always receive great service with smiling faces. Past tense after dark and the spooky festivities are great, well worth the price and the actors are good at scaring but caring with kids as well. Love this place.

Always a great experience! Go anytime of year, you will not be disappointed. The best decor; something for every budget. Get a bite to eat while here...the donuts and pies are delicious as well as the food in their cafe.

Have good sandwiches with great choice of bread. I had a cup of cream of potato soup and it was delicious. Also had a hot roast beef sandwich was good, a lot of real mash potatoes and sandwich was loaded with roast beef. It was deli meat not in kitchen made. So not the best Ive had. I was filled and satisfied afterwards. My brother had a bowl of chili and he said I was very good. They have pizza that looked very good.

Parking lot employees r aggressive!! Had to just go home. Plenty of parking but wasnt allowed to park in them.... Fine u lost our business of 20 years. Bummer for us....(12:10am)

Totally enjoyed spending time at this unique destination. Great for anyone who loves a drive through the country on a late summer day. Shops were filled with rustic finds, nostalgic curiosities, country antiques, herbal teas, gifts galore and more at reasonable prices. Walked through flower gardens, enjoyed the relaxed country setting, enjoyed a leisurely lunch and brought home some seasonal cider, donuts and apples!

Love the store and the donuts etc were great. My only bad remark is we drove from flint to there to try the restaurant after a day of fun. It was closed down due to lack of staff and on their website it said it was open for business. Needs to be updated. I am sure we werent the first to come all the way there to eat and left with a growling belly.

We try and go multiple times a year. We have a tradition to go in the fall and around Christmas. My granddaughter loves the Halloween up stairs and all the goodies at the restaurant and bakery. We take pictures outside every year.

Har a great time with the kids and family. We were not happy they didnt let anyone know the haunted yay ride is out before we got there. Other then that I enjoyed it. Kid friendly.

Loved this place.. a wide variety of things in the store.. hand made soaps, windchimes, statues, jewelry, flowers, Christmas deco, just too much to list.. the restaurant/bakery at the cider mill has great meals and special full meals on Sundays.. so delicious.. you will not be disappointed with this place..

Havent been in awhile. Everything from salad to dessert was delicious. Cant wait to go back. Deep fried zucchini was great and bread was very good.

Went to their after dark event anx was really disappointed. Asked to buy a fast pass because The hay ride line was long. Not available! Really? No line at the haunted corn maze, so started there. It was massive and BORRING AS HELL. Saw 3 actors, none of the even attempted to scare me. People I talked to said they were lost in it for an hour and a half. Line for the haunted house was shorter, so got in that next. 40 people or so. FIVE MINUTES BETWEEN GROUPS! And for no reason other that The ticket taker like to talk. FINALLY, got through an unimpressive haunt and went to the hayride. Sorry, the attractions CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT. Showed the guy that it wasnt midnight yet. Sorry, closed. I live 1,000 smilies way from there. I cant come back on another night. Too bad! We can refund you ticket. Dont want a refund. I want to see the hayride. Guy says hell halt to the owner. Who was driving The tractor. After a while The guy, not the owner himself, just the underling says, sorry. No hayride. The owner didnt have the time or energy to climb out of his shinny glass tractor tower to tell me to bug off. If the haunted house was any indication of show quality, then I doubt I missed much on the hay ride, but I bet this happens a lot, and they cant figure out how to fix it. Really? Call me I have some suggestions. The spiced cider however, was delicious.

I visit at least 4-5 times a year, the staff is always friendly and so much to look at in the general store.

I love this store it has all little knickknacks beautiful candles stuff for your garden floral decorations and you can even get some lunch right next door.

I’ve been to Past Tense cider mill many times before. Either to the cider mill during the day or Past Tense after dark, I’ve never had a bad time. There is always something to do, the staff is always friendly and helpful, the scares are exhilarating, and it’s all around fun. If you’re wondering if you should plan a trip, stop by. You won’t regret it!!!

I am never bored when I go into this nice (little) quaint shop(it is a lot bigger then it looks) it is set up very pleasing to the eye and prices are very reasonable!

10/18/20 Our first time coming ... All the staff were friendly .. The apple and pumpkin spice donuts were really good ... We bought a half gallon of cider ... There were picnic tables to enjoy eating donuts and cider outside ... The store has a wide range of things to purchase ... A Christmas wing, a Halloween area ... candles, knick knacks and home decor ... A lot bigger that it looks from the outside ... An enjoyable time!

Old time cider mill. Lots of activities,live bands,and of course fresh warm cinnamon donuts and cider.

Excellent Apple Cider and some of the best donuts out there. Choice of Apple Cinnamon, Pumpkin Glazed or Plain (mix & match). Due to Covid, the only thing open was the Mill and Corn Maze. Weather was iffy, but we managed to find our way out just before the heavy rains came. Tell Jugglez we said hi!

Very very busy, which is great for them but sometimes the line inside when u buy cider and stuff to go is a little too much, I actually got out of line because it took so long, I think it would help if the place was a little bigger. Also, not the beat pumpkin selection. Its a cute little place for the kids but for me it could have been a little better selection.

Had some pretty solid scares, especially in the haunted house. We bought the 3 attraction combo (haunted hay ride/corn maze/haunted house) for $25 per person, which is fairly priced compared to other haunts. Individually the house was $14, the other two $7 a piece.We went at peak time on a nice Saturday night and had to wait in a long line for tickets. You may be able to purchase tickets at their cider mill, which I highly recommend if the line out back is long. Also, the cider mill was open late which is a great idea compared to other haunts!!From best to worst...the haunted house had some creative scares and designs. I wont spoil what some of the features were, but the ending to us scared us the most and then all of the sudden it was done. We wish it was a bit longer but definitely an enjoyable experience. The hayride had some good sets and production value. It was good length but the actors did a lot of screaming and jumping into the hayride, which after the first couple of times becomes annoying and not entertaining. The corn maze was just frustrating, and like countless others who were in there lost we ended up walking out the side.Overall, it was a fun night, and fyi many guests were saying it was better than years past. Nice to see a haunted place that listens to customers and keeps improving!

Nice place. The country store has a lot of items. Antiques, Halloween and Christmas items. I had the southern fried chicken sandwich with potato chip. Sandwiches are made with homemade bread. I had mine with the rye. Outstanding! Also, homemade potato chips that werent greasy. Loved them!! Bought cider and donuts but we havent tried them yet.

We are from Downriver from Detroit. Food was flavorful. Reasonably priced. Everything home-made fresh. Staff was friendly and helpful. Country store is fantastic! There is so much to peruse and stroll through - everything is beautiful and interesting.

Seriously!!! We love Past Tense! All year around, you can enjoy this place. Umm...hello? Their apple cider slushies and donuts, are amazing. Enjoy the neat finds and browsing the unique variety of items in their shops. Every time we go, we see something different. Beautiful grounds in the summer with flowers and seating. Fun for all ages. Oh, and its something different to do in the dreary winter months. Go have a little lunch in their sit down cafe and browse the shops.

This is a special place in Lapeer, very charming and every staff member I have encountered has been so pleasant.I’ve been several times on Sunday for their meal (not since the pandemic) and the food is amazing and prices are quite affordable. I mean you have a choice of several different delicious breads for a sandwich, they are eager to please, and their entrees are very homestyle and filling. It’s not a rush-rush sort of place, so we always planned to spend some time if we were eating in. They have only a few tables; we always arrived early and they were awesome with my elderly father (who loves to be waited on and fussed over).If you’re not dining in, they have takeout doughnuts and treats, plus a separate shop with lots of gifts and knick knacks. Love the mill wheel and the koi pond. Very sweet and old-school sort of place, I feel fortunate to have Past Tense in Lapeer.

They have the best BLT Pizza!! I’ve tried many different restaurants pizza and past tense makes the best! They use the perfect amount of mayo. I will differently be a return customer!!

One of a kind place and great historical place to have lunch, get pastries, visit the old faction candy store, browse the seasonal sections of the stores or Experience the tea house and local art house. And dont forget it is also an apple orchard. This place doesnt miss a thing.

You would never expect so many unique and varied items. A must see !

Fall Harvest is on at Past Tense! Make a scarecrow, have some cider and donuts. Listen to music, let the little ones ride the barrel train, jump in the bounce house. Take the whole family through the corn maze (but watch little ones around that masked scarecrow!) and go on a hayride! Take home some apples, pumpkins and cider! Bring the older kids back at dusk for the scary hayride, maze and haunted house! Its a great time and the Past Tense family is wonderful! We love them all!

The shoppe offers excellent floral arrangements which can be purchased or you can purchase individual silk flowers and do your own. Lots of beautiful home accessories as well. Past tense is in a beautiful rural setting and as well as their shoppes they have a restaurant, fresh made cider and ice cream ! I cannot wait to return.

This place has so many unique products you could easily lose track of time perusing it all. Not a place for a quick stop. And the cider donuts at the restaurant are perfect, not too sweet.

Service for eating in was very slow. We did have a large group but made reservations so there should of been enough help. Good for just stopping by to buy ice cream or something like that.

Definitely great for the kids. But I went on a Friday night which Im sure is a busy night and there were really not enough people in the haunted corn maze to make it effective or decent. To the point of running into the same haunter on multiple occasions which would be fine if we were running into the others as intended but no just that guy or no one. So I guess what Im trying to say is get more people in the corn maze

This place has literally everything. Lots of old stuff, lots of new stuff, and even a Cider Mill slash restaurant. Their prices are great. They run a ton of sales. and if youre ever looking for Halloween or Christmas stuff in the middle of spring or summer, they are your go-to place. They specialize in unique things that you wont find anywhere else, especially in this area, and the employees have been extremely helpful in helping me decorate my house.

I tend to come back here eventually. There are alot of decorative items and figurines along with a huge variety of other things to browse through. I got a beautiful butterly wind charm from here along with some ornaments. Like I said, still have to check this place out more but love it from my first visit.
