This place was an amazing experience! The only problems were, we couldnt figure out how to pay for parking. Also, Im glad that the original rules are were they belong, Kansas! I didnt like how they were in a darkened hallway were you couldnt even see through the glass unless you pressed a button that lit up the whole place and the fact that everyone started looking at you as soon as the audio played. Also, Allen Fieldhouse should be open to the public! This was an amazing experience and will be returning!
Great place for students and visitors to hang out or walk through, has some historical viewings and dining options. Very nice building.
The hidden gem of the student commons on KUs campus. Its a newer building, air-conditioned, and always clean! There are a ton of tables and chairs, a dining hall, and even a Starbucks inside. All of the entrances and exits are accessibility-friendly. It houses the museum of Naismith, the creator of basketball, here as well. Bonus, outside Naismiths Original Rule of Basketball provides a fantastic photo opportunity, especially at sunset! Debruce is so good that I almost deleted this review to keep it a secret.
After a long fulfilling life filled with joy and splendor, I one day hope to pass away on a crisp evening in the mountains. The alpine air cooling my skin in the final moments. After my soul has transcended my mortal shackles, I truly believe that I will step through the ethereal doors of the DeBruce Center. The Ancient Mesopotamians believed in a realm that one would go after death known as Arallû where a soul would finally be liberated to live out its greatest desires for all eternity. Yes, this wonderous location is the fabled promised land from all ancient texts of the world. A stunning architectural feat, The DeBruce center stands as a monolith of glass, a stunning beauty to passersby and source of inspiration to those within as light from the heavens have ample room to reach the studious minds of our budding youth. This modern-day Garden of Eden also provides a fine cuisine that is as delectable as it is bountiful. When consuming this nectar of the gods one will be surprised of its easy accessibility and affordability with the KU dining plan, an invention of pure magnificence. While sitting in the DeBruce center I am reminded of the core values of what it means to be human: community, brotherhood, innovation, love. This structure goes far beyond its function as a place of feast and learning. It is the manifestation of what separates us from the animals, a depiction of civilizations triumphs, a domicile for pure humanity.
The food is healthier than other options on campus
The dining area is terrific. Great options and moves fast. Crunchy chicken cheddar wrap...bam!
I really only ever go here for the food, but with that in mind: The staff are always courteous and quick, the building itself is very sleek and modern, and the prices are about what youd expect for eating on campus. Probably more than Id be willing to pay on a daily basis as Im a big eater and could easily eat myself into a hole, but I can fill up pretty reasonably for a decent price when I go.
Food could use an upgrade.
Its a wonderful place for you to enjoy your lunch or dinner. This place doesnt have huge variety on food but definitely is a cool place in terms of environment.
Ive only ever been there for food..... So the food is real good. Its where the athletes eat so you know its where they put the best food on campus
It is a newer facility. Lots of glass. It is layed out strangely. There is food offerings here. Some normal and some not so normal. But this place has access on the second level into Allen Fieldhouse. You will walk right by the James Neismith Original Rules of Basketball.
Probably the best ppace to get food on campus. I love their cilantro rice bowl. Their steak is pretty tasty as well as their pineapple sauce.
Beautiful architecture! You can visit the original rules of basketball that are housed in a hallway that connects DeBruce to Allen Fieldhouse. The food there is great, and the coffee shop has saved me multiple times. I would say though that their muffins are not the best. At least not the lemon angel food one.
Beautiful structure. Allen Field House itself is often closed and visitors are not allowed in. If this is the case, you cannot see the hall of large photos near the locker rooms.
The best place to have rice, beans and meat.
The food is lacking but it looks nice
Good food but completely full during lunch
James Naismiths original Rules of Basketball are on permanent display here! This is a must see for any basketball fan. Very modern facility that is attached to college basketballs greatest venue....Allen Fieldhouse!
Quality of food does not match the price generally. Still decent.
Fantastic addition to the Allen Fieldhouse complex.
A good place to work, a good atmosphere.Good friends w/everyone
Such a beautiful modern facility.....and the museum with being able to view actual Basketball Rules is awesome! Great job to all!
Connected to historic Allen Fieldhouse. Home to the rules of basketball, gift shops selling KU memorabilia, and some of the best food on campus. The cafeteria has four different food vendors, very diverse and much higher quality than you might otherwise expect from a campus cafeteria.
Good food.
A must see place if you love basketball!
Food is great and its a pretty cool place. You can see the original rules of basketball here!
Cafeteria is pretty good and so is the seating arrangement. Perfect hangout place.
Beautiful& comfortable facility with unmatchable college hoops history on display, also fine food and beverages available.
Absolutely fantastic place for basketball fans!
Good selection of food within Lawrence Campus. Friendly staff.
Gift shop needs more fashion ponchos
