Generally good selection storewide. Friendly, helpful staff, though with COVID, have seen a real personnel turnover. Unfortunately, they are dependent on centralized purchasing so occasionally there is limited stock, especially sale items available.

I shop at Cal-Ranch because I can find more USA made products. I needed another work pair of high quality rubber boots. I know from working in my rubber work boots that comfort is critical. So, with that in mind you need a real quality boot.I happened to be at a competitor Cabelas, and every pair of hunting rubber boot and work type hunting boot ALL MADE IN CHINA! Thats a no Bueno for me. Really every make made in CHINA.I went over to Cal and the first rubber work boot I pick off the shelf made in the USA.

Come here to buy dog food, its usually fine except one time a worker advised me to feed my dog a different kind of dog food that was supposedly Better for him, he started crapping all over the house and his stomach got disrupted, we returned it and got our bag exchanged for our normal one. I get he wasnt a trained vet so he shouldnt be giving that kind of advice anyway but next time train your workers better on not giving advice on stuff they couldnt possibly know properly anyways. Besides that this is a good place and the chickens they sell in the back are adorable.

While leaving you are overheard telling another customer that you had to ask me twice, while Im still within earshot. If the gun case is that fragile, fix it. I wont be stopping by the gun counter if youre working it.

A neat store packed with a lot of very useful items. You can get everything from sprinkler heads, to baby chicks, to a gun safe, or a cowboy hat. Oh, and tools, and do some banking at the America First Credit Union inside.I always like browsing this place because of how well stocked it seems to be. I can always find the parts I need to fix this or that small yard or house project, and Ill usually see another two or three things I should get also.Everything but groceries.

A few weeks ago I bought a bag of horse grain from this store and when I opened it, it was completely filled with mold. I just bought a bag of rabbit food from this store and again, I opened it and it’s filled with mold. I’ve lived next to this store since it opened and have shopped here at least once a week. I’m not sure if they changed management but recently, they never have anything in stock, the store is a mess, there’s expired horse supplements on the shelf, products are damaged and bad and there are missing price tags in items that the staff run around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to figure out.

The old men behind the gun counter are always cranky they treat me and other customers like they are doing us a favor by helping us, they talk to customers condescendingly. I have had few positive experiences shopping here.

I am assuming most of the bad experiences with rude staff at the gun counter happened while dealing with Ron. I go in as often as I can as well to buy ammo. Because of this, i think i have made Ron’s list as a ammo “Hoarder” and he is rude every time i go. Last time i went in, he tried to make up rules about my wife and myself not being able to use the same credit card for our “Separate” ammo transactions. I called him him out and let him know thats not a rule and he finely made the sales to us both on the same card. The time before that he literally ignored me for 5 minutes before he would help me. I dont know what his issues are with those of us that buy alot of ammo but quite frankly, its none of his business what my reasons are.

I go there as often as I can for ammo, and the gun counter folks are jurks. The only nice person is the younger fella, hes very nice and engaging, he seems new. All the old guys need to retire already and take their bad attitudes home.

Very disappointed that none of the staff were wearing a mask. Its not that they had it under their noses or their chins. They didnt even have them at all. The store had the proper signage required by the State on the front door saying that masks are required for staff and customers, but it was obvious that the word came down from management that no one needs to wear a mask. Im very glad the Covid-19 situation has improved in the community, but were not out of the woods yet. I feel this shows a complete lack of care of and disrespect to the community as a whole. I seriously come here like 3 times a week. Mostly for hardware, good prices and a better selection than Home Shmeepo... I can buy hardware in bulk here, just like the good old days. Many items are not priced and a bit unorganized, but for my needs it’s perfect.

Its a great secret hole of treasure for the gun shopper, but it has so much more. Like Dog Food!!! Dude, if your buying from Amazon, and Amazon is late, just go to cal ranch, they have all the brands you thought was exclusive to Amazon. A very worthwhile store.

The guy at the Layton gun counter is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. You ask Simple questions and he snaps back. Never been treated so rudely before. And it’s happened several times with the same guy. He needs a lesson in customer service.

Girl at the gun desk was super rude could care less what we had to say. Horrible customer service. I work in retail and if she was employed at my work she’d be fired quick. Didn’t catch her name as I was eager to just leave the store. Garbage experience. Was there 11/22/2020 at 11 a.m.

Easy to find. Parking is Free. Store is well took care of employees are nice and friendly. When looking for something that is more country or needing for or mean or anything for Animals this is the store to go to. My daughter does horseback riding sometimes and she needs boots in the jeans and all of that for that stuff and it is easy to find in almost all sizes here in the employees will go out of their way to help to make sure that shes in the right stuff. I feel that some of the stuff is expensive but I understand most of it is real good sturdy hold up stuff so its worth the prices.

Customer experience was not good. Employees walk right past with not the slightest bit of help. Couldnt find what i needed... Also I know it isnt required by law to wear masks but this is the only retailer Ive been to that I recall where no employees had one on or did I witness any kind of sanitation between customers. Left feeling a bit uneasy.

CAL Ranch has gone downhill. Front counter was less than helpful. I realize its hard to get good help but good grief this person had an attitude of dont bother me with what you want. Luckily the gentleman that finished helping me with my purchase was very informative and helpful.

I loved this store! When I lived in Utah this was one of my favorite places to find cute clothes and fun rustic decor. My only regret in moving to Texas was leaving behind CAL Ranch. The employees are great.

Great store and service. Bought some tie downs and a heat lamp. They usually have everything i need. UPDATE. Had to come back and buy sine rat traps. The workers were awesome. I also bought this live rodent trap and have caught rats in it within an hour of setting it. Super happy with my purchase. They seem to have everything i need everytime i go there.

Very, very, very pleasant experience buying my big-boy Stihl chainsaw from Niko. Kid *knows* his stuff, in a big way. Its rare, in retail, to see someone care about doing their job exceptionally well, so Ill not soon forget the experience. By the time I drove off, I could barely make out the extra mile marker in my rear view.If I ever needed a tool or big ticket item that C-A-L Ranch offers -- even though Id be passing two Lowes and one Home Depot to get there -- it would be worth my time.

Great store with a great selection. I would say, employees probably need to keep their daily gossip away from shopping customers as it made them sound petty and uninterested in their job. Luckily we didnt need any assistance. Overall though the store was clean and quiet.

Very convenient store. I stopped by looking for some cast iron cookware. The employees all so friendly and courteous. I also liked the prices. Some were better than Amazon. The store definitely felt like a friendly country atmosphere.

I loved shopping this store. Always clean and staff very helpful. However I am very disappointed in the fact that as a company you are removing the children’s car hart line. I am not a fan of shopping for everything online and knew I could count on your company to ensure I could find the items at your store. Last week I went into the Layton store to buy my grandson a hoodie and jacket but found no selection. The staff informed me that you are reducing these items. Please re-evaluate this decision.

Great for some emergency sprinkler repairs. Most visits I find, however, the cashiers especially, to be quite curt when they are ringing up my items. To me, that seems to be the usual and not the exception. I hello or how are you today would be nice to hear on occasion.

Items priced incorrectly and manager Bert wont stand behind advertised price that was listed in the store. Seems like at best a lack of quality customer service and at worst a bait and switch scam.

Decent prices and great selection. They dont get a 5 star because they have confusing sales, products in their outdoor clearance sale area are not really cheaper, are often not priced at all, making it difficult to decide to buy or not. Seasonal summer sports items (kayaks, for example) were on Sale during Labor Day week, the next week the price went back up. If you are trying to clear out summer items, you raise the price? I asked a management type... She agreed and gave me the sale price. If they listed this sale with the products, theyd sell more.

Wow this place is just epic. You can find any gardening or ranching supplies you need. The clothes are especially nice. If you ever want to capture that true cowboy look, this is the place. They also have a variety of different sodas which are quite delicious.

These are great people here. Even let us bring our dog in for training. Great so selection of BBQs too.

Like a true country store but located in the city. One of my favorite places to browse, but also good for a quick run for chicken feed. Also has an America First CU branch inside.

Awesome store! This store has a little bit of everything. Clothing, toys, camping gear, pet care items, things for gardening and yard care, tools, hardware, guns, ammunition, chickens and much more. Things seem to be priced fairly compared to other stores that sell similar things. Ive always experienced great customer service at this location.

Very disappointed about this location. Visited the gun counter, wanted to purchase two of the anniversary specials advertised. Granted, it was the last day of the specials and I was told that they sold out. So I asked for a raincheck, was told they were out of those also, proceeded to tell me that they had sold 12 over the weekend and 19 on backorder and he couldnt sell me something they didnt have. I ask if any other locations might still have some, salesman shook his head and didnt even offer to call any other store. Also didnt offer any other comparable product. So I walked out. I guess I saved me some $800 bucks that day. Wont visit that location again.

Used to buy alot of guns on lawayay here and years ago they didnt return my money i used to buy so many guns from these guys and they screwed me over.

I really like this Cal Ranch and mostly find what I need. However the last time I was in I was treated very disrespectfully. The employee by the name of Logan, made me feel very uncomfortable and lied to me. I wanted to pick out certain chicks and wanted to know if the turkeys were sexed. He said “it doesn’t matter you are gonna kill them either way” he than talked about killing and how he does it and how stupid they are and it really upset me. I asked an employee if some chicks were okay because the looked dead. The employee shook the crate and said “their fine just lazy” than when I asked Logan to grab one I thought was dead turns out I was right, I asked him to grab another he told me this ones dying and grabbed a different one, I said “no I want that one” he rolled his eyes and put it in the box. Many of them were sick and no one did anything. When I asked if he would ask the manager to allow me to take them and try to help them live he says it doesn’t matter they will die anyways and it’s not worth the money. He spoke very abruptly and made me feel stupid. All around both employees especially Logan was very disrespectful and I am ashamed at how they treat their animals and the way they speak of them and their customers.

Always a helpful team at CAL Ranch. This is where we prefer to buy our chicken feed. Good feed at a good price.

We LOVE this C-A-L Ranch Store. They always have everything that we need and many times they have what we need at a cheaper price than a Lowes or a Home Depot would have it. Also, sometimes we will find things here that Lowes and Home Depot do not carry at all. The employees are friendly and helpful and we always enjoy coming here to see the things that they have.

I go to my local CAL ranch in Layton all the time and I like the relaxed feel. I like that the employees joke and that they talk to each other a little. If you want faceless and quick customer service go to some big box outdoor store. I,however, like the small town feel of the store. The employees have always been plenty helpful. My kids walk or ride bikes from our house to go buy stuff there and the employees have learned their names and always help them count out their money etc... I love places like this that arent in such a hurry, rather they take time to teach a kid!

Went to get cowboy boots for my daughter. I was clueless, but Julie was very knowledgeable and super helpful. She took the time to help us make sure she had a good fit for comfort and safety riding horses. Wish their boot selection was a little better.

Great place to head to for everything from sprinkler repair to firearms and livestock needs. A lot of complaints here center around either the store not open on Sunday (which I feel like we need more of) or someone asking on feeding an orphaned baby mouse. (WTH?) If there is anything I could suggest they are better off paying more for people that know what theyre doing rather than relying on teenagers that have a hard time tying their shoes.

This is where I get my Taste of the Wild dog food for my Aussie. Best place in town.

Very friendly and helpful staff. They have great deals if you watch for them. Some of their everyday items are cheaper than some of the large big box stores and Amazon.

Nearly every time I go in there I struggle to find anyone that knows what there talking about. This is the last phone call conversation I had with them that is very indicative of nearly all my experiences there: Me: do you guys carry any tetracycline? Her: Im not sure ... (pause for about 10 seconds thinking she had a follow up comment) Me: Well... can you find out? Her: ummmm... yeah just one second. ...(wait for about 5 minutes while she goes to find out). Her: are you there? Yeah we dont carry that. (Another 10 second pause expecting some other kind of help it redirection)... Me: do you know if you carry any antibiotics safe for rabbits? Her: yeah Im not sure. Youll have to come in and look at our selection.It was obvious by now that she wasnt really interested in helping me out... so I went to Dallas Green. They are awesome there! Lady there called a personal friend to help me with answers to my questions! Its 30 minute round trip drive vs cal ranchs walking distance from my house, but well worth the trip!The only value that cal ranch has is an employee named Julie. She is excellent and so incredibly helpful, invested, friendly and knowledgeable (especially about chickens). She is the only reason I could muster a 2 star rating. Sorry Julie.

Went to look at fire arms and the gentleman working was so great, extremely helpful and gave great advice.

This store is not as large as the store up north and suffers in total selection because of it Ive noticed. Though it has never been too much of a dealbreaker and have usually found what I wanted. The staff is very helpful and knows where to find everything I am too lazy to spending 14 seconds looking for. They will even order items from other larger stores in the area and have them delivered here in a day. Like I said very kind and helpful, 3 stars for the overall store but the staff make it mo betta so Im giving it a bump...

Love CAL Ranch. They always have what I need whether its hardware, firearms stuff, camping, or pets. One of the best features is actually their selection of candy and bottled soda.

Im not sure who the lady was, she seemed like a manager, but I went in looking for something in particular from their ad for my daughter for Christmas. I asked the lady if she knew where I could find it (even just the general area would have been nice) and she was so rude and unhelpful. All she said was No. and then proceeded to assist other customers. Talk about zero customer service skills. You can bet Ill be buying that toy somewhere that deserves my business. Im so glad I dragged my two small, ornery children in there for absolutely nothing.
