Sad paid for services to be done in advance 100.00 down. Long story short was supposed get my car done a month ago... Got tired of waiting got it done somewhere else. Finally got a call from car tunes manager explaining the situation and it was another when I came in. Didnt ever get enough respect nor did I get my full refund back. Poor choice as a business and prime example of a business taking advantage of a persons hard working money. If I could of given a negative star I definitely would of recommend it 5 stars down.....

Stopped in due to issues with my car stereo system. I don’t remember the name of who was working, but he came out and helped despite being busy. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, fixed my issue super quick and walked us through exactly what he did to fix it. I had very specific install requests for a subwoofer and amplifier install in my 2019 Ford Raptor. Joel is very knowledgable in car audio and hooked me up with everything I required within my budget. There were two technical issues that occurred after install which were completely taken care of without question.I was nervous taking my brand new truck in to be torn apart and put back together, but the install is VERY CLEAN and professionally installed. Above all else, the customer service is amazing. Joel is patient and took the time to answer my MANY questions.As someone used to install audio systems for a living, I can confidently reccomend this shop to everyone for any vehicle.

They sell quality equipment at ok prices but the install they did on my truck was horrible, when i first went to pick it up the stereo worked but when i went to drive away it quit, they found a wire shorting out on my window when it rolled down, I got back home and noticed almost all the door panel clips were broken, a week later my window quit working, it was a short in the loom where they sliced some wires, the dash panel is busted and is obsolete, i cant buy one. A couple weeks later the amp went out, instead of taking one off the shelf and replacing it, i had to wait 2 months for it to be sent off for a repair, and now my door speakers are not working . next time i will have one of my shop employees do the install .So what can you do for me i already replaced the window regulator fixed the cut wires replaced all the broken door pins, i cant find a dashboard, but my door speakers still dont work as for a 2 year old warranty on the amp i called and spoke to Joel about it and told him i would get it in when i could, A friend of mine knows one of the employees there and called me from your layton shop and he was told everything that happened to my truck he didnt seem to care so i left it at that, so what will you really do for me

I totally recommend anyone who has problems with their car audio to go here. Very friendly. Went to Car Tunes in Layton to see if they could find out what was wrong with my audio in my car. I just recently changed my battery in my car so they were thinking of my media fuse being blown. They showed me where all my fuses were which helped out a lot. All I had to do was check all of the audio fuses in my car to see if any of them were broken. they gave me so tweezers to pull them out. When I told them I found the bad fuse they gave me a new fuse for only a dollar. Thanks so much they saved me money and time from switching the fuses instead of switching out the whole radio.

Excellent installation of stereos and sound for your vehicle 🚗

I ran in to Cartunes Layton today to look at some affordable audio equipment for an older Dodge pickup. I met Joel who helped get me in to some affordable but quality speakers and head unit with dash kit and adapter harnesses. He did not make me feel wierd for not wanting to buy a bunch of high end stuff. Not pushy at all. I told him I would be doing the install and he was happy to just sell me the equipment and not try to push me into an install. Later at the house while I was installing the equipment, I had a question and called him. he was happy to answer the question and very kind. Joel is the Man! And the crew is awesome! One of his guys showed me into one of the the rides in front of the store and the sound system was so strong it felt like I was on a super speed roller coaster ride that I almost threw up if I had stayed in their for a few more seconds. Joel was excellent at figuring out what my car needed in order to sound fantastic. He didnt try to sell me anything I (an admitted car audio ignoramus) didnt need, and he was able to get the installation done very quickly.Cartunes is the best place in northern Utah to get your car audio improved or repaired. I highly recommend them. Next up, Im going to ask them to install dash cams in my cars. We priced it out and it was surprisingly affordable.

These guys are great. I have been to them twice. The first time I needed a specialty wiring harness and they had it in stock. Joel also saved me money by selling me a better head unit. The second time I went for a sub box. These guys did an amazing job installing my amp, subs, cap, line drops and wiring kit in my 2016 Fusion.. They installed everything professionally so they didnt take away too much from my trunk space! Worth every penny. Do not hesitate to come here. Very friendly and very knowledgable.Edit: After a week or so my system developed some bugs. (Ford factory decks can be tricky) I put up with them for several months as they were not critical and the system still functioned fine. I finally had some extra cash and went back in to get them fixed. They told me I needed a phantom ignition module to eliminate some of the problems with the remote start feature but tried 2 different modules from PAC both completely failed. That’s on PAC not Car tunes But they loose a star for using line taps which break and cut the wire after a while causing all kinds of havoc, not cleaning up their wire clippings and leaving old wire nuts underneath the carpet. Overall I’m still very happy with my experience and will shop here again but will definitely consider buying my own parts and have them install it. Joel and his associate are awesome at what they do I’m very surprised that they dropped the ball on this one.

Ive gone to a lot of car audio shops and I can honestly say Joel and his crew are the best I have ever dealt with! Car tunes has always had great prices and great customer service. They will always figure out whats wrong with my subs or sound system for free. I can just walk in whenever they are open and he will let me know anything I need too on prices new subs anything. They also tune your system for free wich is really nice.

The workers are competent and knowledgeable. I bought a truck and the kenwood stereo was acting up. They knew exactly what I needed, and were very upfront about pricing and gave me a lot of options; including consulting me on how to check on the problem and fix it myself for free. I had a great experience.

Cartunes has horrendous customer service at both the Layton, and the Ogden store. This business is the worst business I have EVER dealt with in all my years. The owner has no common sense and is completely irresponsible. He will do anything to try and sell you something you’re completely uninterested in, and if you have a problem with the store destroying something you’ve brought in 9/10 times he will only want to give you “in store credit”. If you are looking to obtain any services from Cartunes, please think again and weigh out other options. Joel and Mike are by far the most ignorant people i’ve ever encountered with and their work is an absolute disaster. Don’t let the certifications or the fancy degrees fool you with these people. They are 100% in the car audio business to scam you and make you pay for absolutely nothing. These people are not professionals at all.

Just like the rest of the reviews, I agree the customer service is great, however and more importantly the skill level is what I appreciate the most. What Sound Warehouse couldnt figure out in two hours, took Joel 5 minutes. That saved me big $$.

Waited a while before anyone even acknowledged me. By the time someone did I was told they were all booked, they didnt even try to help me find a system or anything. Doesnt seem like they want anymore business so I left. Highly disappointed.

Weve been to these guys twice now over the last two years and they have come through every time. They recently put a dvd player in our van and we couldnt be happier with it. They do great work. If you need anything done on your vehicle from speakers to dvd players, we definitely recommend Car Tunes in Layton.

Very honest in their work. Took in my new car to get a new dvd player installed, found that it was a blown fuse. They didnt charge me for the unit, only for the service that was required to unplug and plug it back in. Definately a customer for life after my experience with them. Could have easily just put in the new one and taken my money but helped me out and I believe that any company this honest deserves business.

I cant say much about the quality of their products because I just had them install a radio I bought. I did pay a little more than I wanted to but they got the job done quick. I paid about $50 for them to install the radio (even though I already bought all the kits and adapters) but they did a good job.

The owner was not very nice to work with and did not take care of me at all. Very happy to take my business to literally anywhere else or maybe just order it online and install it myself.

Cartunes is AWESOME! I just moved to Utah and was having problems with my car alarm. Other places I called wouldnt take the time to help me out because I didnt purchase the alarm from them. Cartunes spent the time to figure out what was wrong and fix the problem. Took all of 15 minutes and they werent even going to charge me for the labor....I insisted however:) These guys are great. I got my subwoofer installed today and I thought their customer service and employees were ASTOUNDING especially for a Saturday. And the installation cost is more than fair too. Im going to recommend this place to everybody and anybody. I only wished Id bought the subwoofer from these guys instead of sound warehouse.

Just moved into town and had some subs I needed installed. Read some of the reviews on here and decided to check them out, and man am I so glad I did. They are awesome. I have a pretty difficult car to install in (BMW) it took just a tad longer than they estimated but everything is in and working great! Sounds amazing. Mike did my install and he was amazing, very clean work, Joel helped a little too (BMW lol). Joel got me all set up with what I needed and helped me get the best price and was very honest with me about what I needed and what I did not, because Brandon was not in when I went in for my appointment ( i talked to Brandon first when I went in and told him what I wanted and what I had. Great quote.) I most definitely recommend going here if you need anything car audio wise. Great guys. Very knowledgable, honest and high integrity. Good selection in store also. They also do custom boxes, and work. If they dont have what you want they can get it. Authorized dealer of Memphis too! Will definitely be back for future upgrades and whatever I need audio wise. Came in to pull off a layaway and the staff didnt know how to do it and had me waiting for a week. Staff was always complaining and it was a very negative environment. Not the kind of environment a customer would want to walk into. Eventually I got my money back, but I was not impressed by the staff and the lack of knowledge. They were not very personable.

Update - 08/18:Im pretty bummed to be posting this, as Id always considered Car Tunes to be the last safe haven in automotive work. Ive learned over the years that I cant trust anyone to work on my vehicles, as everyone is too caught up in quantity to deliver on quality. For two years now, this is the only shop that Ive ever allowed to do anything other than diagnostic work on my vehicles.Unfortunately, the last two times Ive been in, the fit and finish has been too dodgy. There were trim screws and tree clips missing after my door speakers were installed. They let me kmow this was andan issue, and that they didnt have any on hand, so I wrote it off assuming that they were just running low on what Id consider to be basic essential install gear.I took the car in again a few months later to get the dash speakers done, and while they sound great, I now have a loose front dash cowl, which mates up to now also loose a-pillar trim on both sides. Not only does this make it look shoddy, as my dash visibly wobbles on bumpy roads, but now theres a rattle that effectively makes the speakers seem a bit blown out anyhow.Im more than capable of self-installing all this stuff, but it was nice to have a place I could turn to when my plate was a bit too full to fit it in myself. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case for me here. If I have to check over all the work thats been done and remove all the panels to do so, then theres really no point in me paying an installer to do the job in the first place. This is why I no longer use shop mechanics, and sadly will likely no longer be using audio install shops.Ive reduced my rating to three stars. I almost went with two because Im extremely disappointed, but for the sake of fairness I left the third, as they are quick and not heavy on the upsell. If you dont know how to do the work yourself, and dont mind it being done by a hurried hand, theyre still a decent option.Original Review - 2015ish:Amazing. I went in with pretty low expectations, as Ive grown to hate audio stores. These guys have renewed my faith and then some! I was shopping for a Bluetooth radio and found one here for a better-than-walmart price, i was going to install myself, but the install was so cheap (and well done, in retrospect) that I threw that on as well.Everything was first rate, my deck no longer flops around in my dash, they even glued back some of the trim that was broken before I went in, and the Bluetooth mic was run up the a-pillar beautifully.The icing on the cake? My subs and amps were previously tuned for the old owners dubstep style music, which didnt work at all for my metal.These guys tuned my subs and amps that I didnt even get from or have installed by them, with me in the truck, playing my music, for no additional cost.My truck sounds better than it ever has, and it only set me back the cost of a mid-range head unit.A level of customer service you simply cant find very often these days. These types of customer committed shops are why I prefer to browse locally before ordering online or purchasing at a big box store.

CARTUNES is AWESOME! and Ill tell you why. A while back I used a drive through car wash and my antenna snapped off. Frustrated, I attempted to install the replacement antenna myself and it just was not going to happen. What I thought was going to be an easy job turned out to be a nightmare.Cartunes to the rescue!! A co-worker told me to take my car over to the pros and they could get that antenna installed right!It only took one hour just as they said! They were very professional and quick.I would definately take my vehicles back there again for service and installation. When I have a more worthy car I will have them hook me up with a bumpin system!
