My daughter needed some new socks for her feet to help wick sweat during trail hiking and dryland training. She was getting some pretty bad blisters. Purchased three pairs of Features. She has been loving them. Hiked with our pups over the weekend.
They don’t listen to what size of shoe you wear they sell you a shoe that is to big and when you say no they insist that it’s right! I don’t see you running a marathon in to big shoes. It was a terrible experience. I have been buying shoes here for over ten years but I will never go back! Terrible service!The store manager reached out to me and was so kind and respectful and apologetic. She then went out of her way to help me find a pair of shoes that I liked and that fit. She listened to my concerns. I will go back and have her help me again.
Went in with high hopes and came out with a great pair of new shoes. The woman that helped me was very knowledgeable and friendly, I told her what I was looking for and she was very quick to get me a few different options to try on. I was in and out in 30 minutes, would’ve been even faster if the customer in front of me didn’t take so long at the checkout but that’s ok lol

I WILL NEVER PURCHASE FROM STRIDERS AGAIN. One star is an overrating! I don’t usually write reviews, but I have NEVER been treated so rudely in a store. I visited the store on 8/29/2020 at 4:45 pm. It was the Layton location. I usually get all my running gear from the Utah Running Store in Ogden UT. This particular day I was in a hurry and this store was a convenient stop, but I regret purchasing from them. If I had not been in desperate need of the item I purchased I would have left the store without purchasing. If you have any running gear needs it is defiantly worth the short 15 minute drive to purchase from the Utah Running Store in Ogden. They are soooo much more professional, personable, and caring, unlike the staff at Striders.........Sooooo please support THE UTAH RUNNING STORE!!!!! NOT STRIDERS!!! The Utah running store is locally owned and their employees care about the customers that visit their store!!!!

I called these guys to see if they had shoes I was looking for. They told me they had several. When I got to the store they had noting but one pair of shoes size 13. The young lady was actually too lazy to go look and see what they actually had when I called, so I drove all the way to the store for nothng. Terrible customer service and dishonest in my book. These people dont deserve anyones business.
The ladies who worked here the evening we came were not very friendly or helpful. Regardless of that we were able to find a very nice pair of shoes on your clearance table that my husband was very happy with.
Been a customer of Striders for years. I was never treated so poorly as I was today. I bought a pair shoes that I ran in twice. I want to return them because they weren’t right for me. I had my receipt and I was well within my 30 days to return them. They declined to return them and made me feel really humiliated. This is not the Striders from the good old days. I can’t believe they made me feel so bad about wanting to return some shoes.
Horrible place to go. Walked in and asked about a possible running shoe. Staff said they don’t have the shoe anywhere. The store does not even have the upgraded shoe that was released. Staff member then walked to the front counter and didn’t say anything else. Really strange and didn’t give any other recommendations or ask if anything else was needed. Took my son and walked right back out the door. Save time and go somewhere else that wants your business.
Worst customer service. We went for track spikes, yes were late to the game. The girl never put her phone down and was absolutely rude.
Don’t waste your time/money here, go to salt lake running company instead (they have a bigger shoe selection & a much more friendly/knowledgeable staff)

I usually don’t want to be bothered by sales persons when shopping, but the employee that helped us was incredibly knowledgeable on which shoes to buy and how each pair would support me in a different way. She even helped us with choosing the right socks and what type of fabric to avoid. Extremely impressed and will be back again!
This is a great source for all your running needs. They have a knowledgeable staff that is willing to help with any questions and a great selection. I have been to other sporting goods stores shopping for shoes and when I asked questions they just give you a blank stare like they have no idea what you are talking about. But here the employees were able to answer my questions and helped me pick a shoe that worked for my needs. I was able to try on a bunch of options and pick the ones that worked best for me.

The ladies who served us at Striders in Layton today did a great job! They made sure that my son got the track shoes he needed, and were willing to spend the time it took to help us figure it all out. They even do a great job of helping make sure that you get the right shoes for your foot arch.
I love this store! Their customer service is excellent! I love that they measure your feet and then bring you as many shoes as it takes to find the right one. I always spend an hour or more picking my shoes and they never rush or bother me to hurry and pick something. It is a little more expensive than some other stores or buying online but Ive only noticed a $10-$15 difference. For the amount of help and service I get, its well worth the extra for me to support my local running store.

This is an athletic store, and in particular where I go to buy my shoes. That is what Im focusing on here.The staff is friendly and helpful, even if you are clearly not the athletic type. They have a device that analyzes in real time how you walk and can bring out a variety of shoes to fit *you*. Even if you have large feet, they can probably get or find something for you. For reference, Im a size 14-15 extra wide with motion control shoes.Now, this isnt Payless, the shoes here are a bit more premium priced, but these are the kind of shoes thatll last and be comfortable for all day use. That said, they often have sales on stuff. I generally say to count on 100-125 bucks, sometimes less.If youve never had good shoes, Id definitely recommend coming here. Your feet will thank you.
Been a fan of striders for a long time. Its nice to have a shoe retailer do a foot analysis so that you can really find the best kind of shoe for your feet. Good shoes with the correct support for your feet makes a big difference.Good selection, priced right, great current staff.
I have never written a review in my life before today. I have bought several pairs of shows from this store over the years. I have also turned several people on to the this store to buy shoes. I have ran in the same brand of shoes since trying that brand years ago. Im now in the market for a new pair of shoes. I decided to look at different options when I went in a week ago. They actually had a few good options on there clearance table. I tried those on and a few others. I happened to be up in Ogden over the next few days so decided to stop by and see what they had on the clearance table. I also tried on a couple other pairs, but didnt purchase anything. After using the brand of shoes I have over the last several years. I really wanted to make sure switching brands wasnt a regret. Yesterday I went back into the Layton store to try the shoes I thought I was interested in on again.The same lady that help me last week and told me to come back and try on a brand that I had not yet tried helped me. She went and got the shoes I wanted to try on. She brought them to me then went right into the back. A few minutes later the Lady that helped me at the Ogden store came out and talked to me. Just making small talk I asked her if see remembered me from the Ogden store? And told her I remembered her. And asked her if she remembered me. She looked at me and said yes, but not your name or anything. And gave me a put out look. She suggested for me to try on one more shoe. After bringing it to me she went right in the back also. Another sales person was helping someone else at the time, and never really said much to me either. I sat there for around ten to fifteen minutes with no one helping me. I was about to walk out the door when a young man who worked there came in, we had a brief conversation and I left. After thinking about how a sales person could be so rude and not come back and at least check on me? All I could figure is that they where so conceded about themselves, that they actually thought I was at the store to talk with them and not look at shoes? If a person cant come into a store and look at something multiple times, without being judged. Because they remembered the persons name that helped them last time. The world might be getting more messed up than I thought. After that experience I will never buy a pair of shoes from Striders again. And will encourage those that I have told in the past to come in not to.
So sorry I forgot the girls name who helped me today. She was super attentive! I am 8 weeks post foot surgery and in a surgical walking boot. She helped me find a proper shoe that has a higher platform, wider toe box and cushioned for my good foot since its bearing the brunt of work. She also showed me items for recovery and circulation! Love this store! Thank you for the individualized help!
My family really likes Striders. The staff is helpful and doesnt push you to buy things. Theres not a huge selection, but the selection is good enough. Theyve recently been bought out by another company, so I hope the service and products dont change.
They have a great selection, but customer service is lacking. The first time I went in over two years ago, they were attentive and helpful. The last four times I have been in after that I have been completely ignored. As if I wasnt about to spend $150 on a pair of running shoes. I have gone in when it was both busy and slow. I have never given a local business a bad review, I usually feel to guilty. But when someone is about to spend a good chunk of cash on some foot wear I feel a little customer service would be nice. Sorry, you have lost me as a customer.
They were very knowledgeable about many different types of shoes, had us walk and run on their pad to determine the level of support and type of shoe we needed, then encouraged us to run on the treadmill with every pair tried on. They stayed after hours for 45 minutes, helped us try on many different shoes, even the discount table, and were fantastic to work with the entire time with no pressure at all. This is one of the best buying experiences I have had.
Kristen greeted us right when we walked in. We told her exactly what was going on. She jumped from behind the counter and helped us. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes with a ton of knowledge and running shoes that made sense.
Wish I could do a no-star rating. watch out for the Strider return policy. Once you buy a pair of shoes you are out your money. True, they will exchange for something else in the store but what if you cannot find anything that works for you. You are stuck. They say that you can bring the shoe back if you do not wear them outside but they do not tell you about their return policy. If you cannot find something they give you a gift card but do not tell you that you better use it within a year. I was impressed with the amount of attention they give to you but I have been screwed by them and will not go back. Beware to the purchaser. Ask your questions about anything and everything before putting out any money.
I want to love this store, I really do. I mean they are local, have a great selection, and even map your feet and gait to help you choose the right shoes!But heres the issue. Twice I have gone in window shopping, and twice they asked if I wanted the shoes held until payday. So I told them when I would be in, and they took down my name, number, and the date I would be in.Both times when I came in on the given date, they told me they had accidentally put the shoes back. This is a mild irritant. But add to this that I came in a total novice to the sport of running. I told them the type of running I would be doing, and asked for recommendations. The first road shows they suggested, and I bought after they accidentally restocked them, were completely wrong for my weight. I was having hip issues in weeks. I ended up going with a pair suggested and bought at the competitions, and the hip issues went away.They have a few good staff in there that are trail runners, and the experience was similar. I told them I would be running technical trails. They suggested Altra Olympus, and the lack of traction nearly twisted my ankle!I still go there when the competition doesnt have the shoe I need. But I rely on other runners for suggestions, rather than staff.
**updated** After speaking to the Layton manager she offered to have us go to the Ogden location for service today. Thrilled with the experience. They got us into shoes that are right for our feet. Unhappy we were treated so poorly the night before but we had a bad employee. Today was exceptional! - Sad experience. We were asked to “wrap it up because we have lives to get to too”. My husband had his shoes picked out and I was deciding between two pair. Not the customer service I would expect when a couple is about to drop $250+ on shoes. After returning the shoes to the box and putting them away, when we got into the car it was 7:21. My apologies for wasting 15 minutes of your time.

I have posterior tibial tendonitis and my doctor recommended a certain shoe. I went to striders and a nice lady immediately asked the problem i had with my feet. She was very knowledgeable and brought out a couple different kind of shoes of the brand my doctor recommended and patiently waited for me to try them on. The shoes are so freaking comfortable and they were way cheaper then Orthofeet I bought online that didnt work. Great service and great prices!

Good store for getting fitted. Thats the end of the good with this store. Didnt mind paying a bit more for the local service. But... there is no service after they have your cash. Bought 4 pairs of shoes. Spent about $400. One pair had a defective shoe. The tongue was completely detached. Took it back and they said they no longer had it in stock but would order it online. 2 weeks later got the replacement and it was not the same color. They told me that the manufacturer was out of that color. However, they didnt bother to ask me if I wanted the different color... just shipped it and figured good enough. When I called them they quickly got rude. WOW! Now, they wont return any calls so we have to drive out from Ogden to even speak to anyone. I own a company and if I had any employees who treated the public like this they would be gone today. Funny how a retail outlet that is supposed to capitalize on personal service could be this bad and try and charge the prices they do. I would usually never agree with a previous poster about getting fit through them and then buying online or from Dicks Sporting, but in this case Ill make the exception and that is exactly my recommendation.
Happy to find the right shoes here... after being in an air boot for four months! Hoka one one Bondi 5 are most comfortable shoes...light and great support.
I had a similar experience as a few others. I bought an item that did not fit correctly, upon return I was told I could exchange it or get store credit. I was taken by surprise at this so I asked how I was supposed to know that there was a exchange only policy the employee working told me in a snooty way that is was clearly printed on the receipt, which makes no sense to me because at that point I have already paid for the item. Would I have known that advance I would have simply taken my business elsewhere. So now I am forced into paying their inflated price for a shoe I can buy $15-30 cheaper elsewhere.

The store has eveythhing you need for running no doubt. But the prices are inflated. I got fitted in a shoe and while waiting to try a different pair on I googled the shoe I tried on and found at least 3 stores online that had it $20 cheaper including the shipping. My suggestion, try them on at the store then and shop online to get a better price. Always a fan of supporting local businesses but that was a bit dissapointing.

Beware, there return policy has changed and they will NOT take back defective products after the 30 days from purchase, however they used to.. Striders used to stand by there product and were more than willing to help you out if a manufacturing defect appeared after the 30 day period..I had a pair of Hoka Mafatis that formed a tare on the left side of the toebox on the right shoe. I didnt even have 20 miles on the shoes and they still looked new but sadly i was told i would have to deal with Hoka direct for repair or replacement because they will not. Ive recommended striders to a ton of people in the past, but due to policy changes, im not even sure ill be going there anymore, hopefully someone in management reads this.
