I had the best experience trying on dresses at Altar. The individual attention that Nancy and Sara give you is amazing. They help you get an idea of what you are looking for by trying on a variety of dresses, and they really listen to what you like in each dress. Plus-they have the best mother/daughter dynamic! Our group had so much fun with them!

I had such a great experience picking out my bridal gown with Nancy! She listened to all of my wedding details and brought in so many gorgeous gowns for me to try. When I gave feedback on what I liked or didn’t like, she would take some away and get more based on what I’d said. I was able to find my dream dress within an hour! Once ordered, it came in really quickly and Nancy helped me pick out gorgeous accessories to go with it. I can’t recommend Altar Bridal enough! It was so much fun-I wish I could go and do it again and again!!

I was running late because of traffic and when I called to let them know they were so understanding and kind. Every dress was absolutely beautiful and they made sure they stuck with my budget. Altar Bridal was my first stop ever shopping for a wedding dress, and Nancy and Sarah really made it a memorable one. This mother-daughter team are so in sync and so great at what they do. Don’t shop for your wedding gown here! I happened by this cute bridal gown boutique one afternoon and stopped in to ask if appointments were necessary. My future daughter-in-law was scheduled to leave town in a couple of hours but thought we would try to squeeze in one more dress shopping event if we could! I was greeted by Nancy, I believe the owner of the boutique, and she nicely said we could come back in without an appointment that afternoon! We returned with my daughter and future daughter-in-law and discussed the type of dresses she was interested in trying on, showed pictures of herself in dresses she liked, and pointed out a couple of gowns that we had seen displayed to try on. We were put into a dressing room with horrible lighting and quickly handed off to the associate, Christy(?sp), to help us. This young lady was nothing but rude to my sons fiancé! She kept asking if there was anything about the dress she was trying on that she didn’t like. Instead of using this feedback to bring in another gown, Christy’s response was “well I didn’t design this dress “. My future daughter-in-law is a very slim young lady and when she asked Christy to possibly pin the dress a little tighter to get a better idea of what the dress would look like, she repeatedly would say “I’m trying sister“. No other dresses were offered as options other than the ones we had pointed out even though we had asked for particular styles. Christy’s main objective was to get us out of the store! In fact, instead of asking if there were any other dresses she could bring for her to try on she said “let’s get you out of this last dress and send you on your way “. We have been dress shopping at many other boutiques in Kansas City and in several other cities so this was not our first rodeo! But NEVER has anyone been so rude, unenthusiastic, uninterested, or unhelpful as in this boutique! As we left in utter shock my daughter, who also just got engaged last month, remarked “that is one boutique I will not be shopping at for my bridal gown”! They lost not one but potentially two sales that afternoon!- [ ]

I cant express how supportive Nancy was while shopping for a wedding dress. I had a wedding dress mishap with my original gown and from the moment that I spoke to Nancy on the phone to book an appointment, she made me feel calm and comfortable. There was no pressure to buy, she was understanding and nurturing to my situation, and I genuinely felt like she wanted to help, even if I didnt find the one at her shop. She made a horrible situation hopeful. In the end, I did find a beautiful dress at Altar Bridal. I would absolutely recommend this shop to any future bride.

I loved working with them. They communicated so well and answered all of the questions I had. They were on top of the things I would have never thought about like the alterations or preserving of the dress. The selection is vast and the dresses are stunning. They made the process fun and less stress for me. Sara is so sweet and had so many dresses in mind for me to try on. I couldnt have done it with out them and I highly recommend The Altar.

I was so stressed going into my bridal appointment, but I ended up having an amazing day-- and too much fun.Theyre following covid protocols. Not only did my guests and I feel safe, we also felt very comfortable and relaxed since they are only having one appointment at the time.The dresses are all gorgeous, and theres a huge variety of styles. As someone who didnt know what I would or wouldnt like, this was really important to me.Nancy was the best. She listened to my vague ideas about what I liked and put me in gowns that I felt great in. You can tell they truly care about you feeling great about what youre wearing. I never felt pressured, she was so friendly, and I was grateful for her input and knowledge about the different designers and gowns.

I don’t normally write reviews but I had to after going to Altar Bridal. Nancy was a pleasure to work with. She was knowledgeable, kind, positive, and not pushy at all. She was able to get me in last minute after I had a bad experience at the first place I went. As soon as I walked in, I knew I was going to have my “say yes to the dress” moment. They have the most beautiful selection of dresses in pretty much every budget. Needles to say, I found my wedding dress here and it is absolutely gorgeous. I am so excited to wear it on my wedding day!

I had the most wonderful experience here. I went here first of 4 popular places in KC for bridal gowns. The boutique is owned by a mother and daughter (Nancy and Sara) and theyre extremely attentive and savvy. They listened to what I was interested in and picked out options perfectly suited to what I was looking for. They were easily the most pleasant, friendly, and fun of all the consultants Id met with all day. I also didnt feel rushed AT ALL.Needless to say I found my dress here but it was the first of my three appointments that day. They werent in the least bit pushy that I didnt walk out with a dress but were super flexible right around closing time to let me come back and purchase that day! The store is also in a super cute area and the layout is perfect.Basically... HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. You will not regret it!!

My experience at Altar Bridal was exceptional!Dede, Sara and the rest of the ladies at Altar are so kind and helpful.After explaining to Sara what I was looking for, I felt like she really understood what I had in mind because the dresses she pulled were exactly what I had envisioned. Once I decided on the one they brought out champagne and we took pictures. A nice touch to make the experience feel very special.I cant tell you how many compliments I received on my dress! It really made me feel like a bride, and I absolutely love it.I also found my shoes (Hey Lady - so comfortable and stylish) and gorgeous earrings (Untamed Petals) there after looking at several other places.Altar Bridal is so easy to work with - once my dress came in, they transferred it to the tailor (who is also wonderful) and then back to the store to steam and pick up.Every time I popped in the store, I felt like I was visiting friends. This place and the owner were awesome!! I almost purchased a dress that I really liked but was not exactly what I was looking for just because of how wonderful Dede was - I WANTED to give her my business. I felt so comfortable in the dressing room with her and loved being able to tell her about my experiences other places and tell her exactly what I was looking for - and she definitely understood me. She was great with my family as well. The best part was when I told her I just needed time to go talk and think it over to decide what I really wanted and she was very understanding. This was such a better experience than I had in other shops. On top of that, her shop is beautiful and her selection is great. I just wish she had my dream dress.

I had a fantastic experience at Altar Bridal and would definitely recommend it to any bride! It is so beautiful in the store which makes the environment even more magical. The ladies are so wonderful and helpful and really listen to what you are looking for but also will make suggestions based on their experience. I found my dress on my first stop and I only tried on about 10 dresses. The one I ended up choosing was actually one that the girl that was helping me suggested even though it wasnt exactly what I thought I wanted. But it was the one!!

I loved working with these girls! They were never pushy or rude. They made me feel comfortable and I went from being frustrated that I couldnt find a dress to actually enjoying the process. The dresses were all in great shape and the store is beautiful. They were playing Disney music when I walked in which made me smile. They both had unique personalities and understood my attempt to save money and still find a beautiful dress. They were so helpful with sticking to my budget and wedding time line! The decision to get my dress at Altar Bridal was very easy. I knew exactly the dress that I wanted and they were the only ones that had it in the entire STATE! But that did not stop them from giving me the entire bridal experience when I was there. Their shop was so close to my new house that I thought it was fate. Sara helped me pick out some other dresses to try on, and picked so well that she almost got me to pick a different dress! Their gowns are so beautiful and unique. My mother, aunts, and FATHER even enjoyed the experience. And less that 2 months before my wedding I decided that I needed a belt for my dress, and they helped me try on just about every belt in the store until I found the perfect one. The ladies at Altar Bridal are so wonderful and professional. It was the perfect bridal store, where I got my perfect dress!(Ivy and Aster Anemone)

I couldn’t be happier with my experience with Altar Bridal. This was the third (and final) bridal salon I went to, and I truly felt the consultant listened to what I wanted. I didn’t have a large budget but she never made me feel like my options were limited. In the end, the consultant understood what I was loving and not, and convinced me to try on a two-piece (which I couldn’t believe). Turns out, she was 100% correct and it was everything I wanted. They made the process as stress-free as possible and didn’t push me at all to make a decision. After saying yes to the dress, Altar was great at being professional and communicating with me on all the next steps. Sara even transported my dress from the tailor for alterations and held on to the dress for me until the literal day before my wedding.

I went shopping at Altar shortly after getting engaged and had planned on just getting some ideas. I made the appointment online and had it confirmed almost immediately - it was super easy. After briefly describing what I was thinking to the friendly and welcoming store manager (her name is Sara and shes AMAZING), she brought out the perfect Monique Lhuillier gown. I knew instantly it was the one. I tried on about 10 more dresses (since I felt like I couldnt possibly have found my dream gown on the first shot), but I ended up buying that first one that day. I was so impressed that Sara had gotten such a good read on my style and personality after only talking to me for 5 or 10 minutes before bringing out some samples. I ended up going back to Altar for a veil and a rehearsal dinner dress, too, and I got both at incredible discounts because the gals at the store called or emailed ahead to let me know that they were having trunk sales for the stuff they knew I was still in the market for. My experience was the perfect amount of personalized service without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. I came away feeling like I could call them for any of my friends in the future and they would drop everything to help however they could. They even contacted me after my wedding to say thank you and to wish me well. I could not have been happier with how it all went. I should mention that I NEVER write reviews for anything - thats how much this meant to me. Every girls experience with their wedding dress should be as perfect as mine was. Thank you, Altar!

My daughter and I loved our experience at Altar Bridal. Sara was so helpful and friendly! If you are lucky enough to work with her youll have a fantastic bridal shopping experience. Altar Bridal is small but elegant with a fun vibe. The dress selection was not vast but Sara was able to show us several great options with different silhouettes that were all well within our price range. The accessory selection was excellent; many beautiful belts, veils, hair pieces and shoes to choose from. If you want a different experience from the large bridal shops you need to schedule an appointment with Altar Bridal. You wont be disappointed!

I went in to Alter Bridal just to see what style dress I liked and was blown away by the service and options available. The ladies worked with my budget and helped me to have my say yes to the dress moment. It was honestly perfect!

Meredith was wonderful! I really enjoyed my appointment with her. The set up of the store is great, you get to go through the gowns and find what catches your eye, then go into a private room so youre not on display for the whole store. I ended up falling in love with a dress elsewhere but as previously stated the service of the employees makes you want to give them your business!

I went to Altar Bridal for a Sarah Seven trunk show. When I called to make the appointment, I requested to try on a specific dress, which Sarah (at Altar) made happen by asking the designer to bring it to the show. It was THE dress! But, I loved trying on other dresses too! Dede and Sarah were so helpful and knowledgable about the cuts of dresses, whats flattering on which body types and whats not, veil and accessory pairings--just everything! I chose a simple veil which was very reasonably priced. The ordering process and delivery went smoothly, and when my dress arrived, I went to try it on before Altar took it to their tailor, Janet at Fine Stitch, and Altar delivered it to and from the there for me and steamed it before I picked up the dress. I bought my dress at the old store location, and I picked it up at the new store location, which is such a beautiful, open, clean space. I think any future bride would have a very pleasant experience shopping for dresses at Altar Bridal!

I knew I would find my dress the moment I walked in the door. The team at Altar was excited to have me visit their store and they made each moment wonderful. We had champagne and laughs and it was very relaxing and fun. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on. I literally had one of those This is it moments as I came skipping out of the dressing room. Who skips anymore? Well, I did. I would definitely recommend the Altar team to any bride. I tried on dresses at Altar Bridal with Sarah at the start of my hunt for a wedding dress. I did not end up buying from Altar only because I fell in love with a dress else where. The dresses at Altar were all beautiful, and I can not say enough about how wonderful Sarah was during the appointment. Ive said several times that I wish my dress would have been at Altar so I could have given them my business. They were by far the best shop I visited!The only thing I could have asked for were sample dresses in larger sizes, Im a size 16 (street size) and while Sarah did some stellar clipping with the dresses, it was difficult to get a good feel for some of the dresses.

My mother & I went in to Altar to search their sample sale for accessories to work with my dress - which I had purchased at another location. First impression: the bridal salon is absolutely gorgeous, open, and welcoming. They seemed to have dresses to fit a variety of budgets, and had many many MANY accessories. We spent an hour trying on veils, headpieces, and belts. The entire time, I was made to feel just as special as a bride-to-be trying on a dress. We worked with Sara, who could not have been any more delightful, or honest with the items I tried on. I didnt have my dress with me so I was a little nervous in regard to how the items would piece together, but she understood my vision and helped me execute it. I will definitely be back as I continue to piece together the final pieces for my big day. It was a lovely experience, and I reccommend it to anyone looking for a dress, or just that 1 little item to finish your look.

Altar is AMAZING! I drove in from Des Moines to try on a dress that I had won in a contest. I wasnt ordering my dress through them, yet they took the time to let me try it on and were still over the top helpful. It would have been easy for them to be annoyed I was taking their time and rush me through the appointment. Sarah was awesome and even gave me suggestions in my area on where to get the dress altered when it arrived. I cant say enough nice things about them and would recommend this shop to anyone!!

Fantastic experience, the woman who helped me knew the dresses that she had to offer in the style that I liked. There was room for my entire party to sit and water was even offered. I found a dress that I love! Thank you!

The shop was cute, but the staff wasnt the best. The woman who was assigned to me was very nice, but she wasnt paying attention to my style or budget at all. The dresses that Altar Bridal carries are all very similar in style. Nothing with a lot of bling or anything different. I feel like the dresses were made for brides in their 30s-50s. I never got to see the back of any of the dresses I tried on because the lady wouldnt lay out the train unless I asked her too. Overall pretty unhappy with my visit. Not worth putting a credit card down on the appointment.

It is even better than imagined at Altar Bridal. The staff is amazing and so attentive that they make sure you find the right one! The styles range dramaticaly, and you cannot find the quality anywhere else in Kansas City. Please, do yourself a favor and make this your first (and only?) stop for a wedding dress. You will not regret it.

From the get-go I knew I would love this place. The intimate shop, the beautiful designs, the upscale but accessible vibe all made it wonderful. After trying on a couple dozen dresses in other shops I was specific with Sara with what I wanted, and she was able to make it happen, finding me a beautiful high-end sample that came in under my budget. After purchasing the dress (!) my experience there got better and better, with the team at Altar quickly responding to my emails or allowing me to come by and try out different accessory options or visit with any bridal party member in town. I had endless questions about spanx and alterations, and I felt like the girls there knew me, were so excited about and always remembered the details of my wedding, and were truly consultants. I visited several bridal shops in my wedding planning process, and by far this was my favorite, most comfortable and fun experience. Thanks Altar! :)

Save yourself the time and effort of making multiple appointments all over town, and go directly to ALTAR BRIDAL! You can not go wrong with the personal treatment that they give you the minute you walk in the door. As a bride, you go into wedding dress shopping with cautious optimism (or at least I did). This is the most important day of shopping you will ever do, and with high hopes you want to find the most perfect dress... the one youve been dreaming of wearing since you put your dress-up clothes away the final time in 1st grade.The most comforting part was the listening that happened before dresses were even seen. Dede and her staff first and foremost want to know what is important to YOU. What do you look for, dream of in your wedding gown? And, maybe more importantly, what do you dislike? Theyre also pretty good at knowing what might fit you well... :) (this is not their first rodeo...)Once we had developed a good understanding of the style and look I was hoping for, they went to work. I know I was one of the lucky ones who find their dress on the first day of looking, and only put on 6 total. But, I honestly think it was because they didnt waste my time making me try every dress in the store, and listened to my style, the style of my wedding, and my budget.Also, although my dress was custom ordered/made, I knew there would be alterations involved once it was here. The alterations were done by Janet at Fine Stitch, who was amazing! She paid the best attention to detail, and made it fit absolutely perfect (and as comfortable as a strapless dress could be..)! Dede and Janet work together, so you dont have to fret whos going to be stitching on your dress after youve grown or shrunk in certain places :)Dede and her staff are always smiling the minute you walk in the door, and willing to find you exactly what you are dreaming of! I have nothing but happy memories of working with Altar Bridals services, products, and of course my gown and accessories. My wedding was a picture perfect day, and I could not be more thankful that I was confident in my dress and had such great service at Altar Bridal.PS... The accessories are fabulous as well!
