Very helpful! Kenneth was great helping choose the stone for my chimney project. Gave advice on the pros and cons of different products including ease of installation if I do the job myself, as well as recommendations for contractors should I decide to have someone else do the work. Really appreciated that he wasnt discouraging about me wanting to do it myself but offered options when I asked. I will be ordering my stone from Thompsons!

Over 3 months ago I paid for 3 doors to be delivered and installed.Now I do admit that I rescheduled the install date.The problem is that on the agreed new install date at 03:30am I get a text asking me to pick up and deliverSadly I was 3000 miles away.Then the installers called me and asked where were the doors.I have been ever since trying to get these doors deliver and install!!Now I cannt even get a response from them at the door area.

Place has lots of product to choose from and to special order. The staff is hit and miss some incredible some incredibly useless. However once you find a good rep to fit your style and needs this place is a good source to have.

This our first time using this company and all went well. The order is correct and it was an easy process to order and pick up. The staff is courteous and friendly. There was a longer than expected lead time for the materials, but they had to be manufactured so that is acceptable. We will use this company again.

Worst customer service!!! I called for a quote went over all the materials, colors and size with employee... he told me he would email me the quote, it has been a week haven’t received quote I call and they tell me I have to redo the order that took me about an hour because they don’t know anything about it!!! Really

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER: STONE VENEER. Im a project manager and work for a custom builder in Rancho Santa Fe. We had a client who spent $35,000 on Natural Stone Veneer with Thompson. The first order took almost two months to receive when we were told about 4 weeks. Which could have been acceptable except for the fact that every time I called, not a single person had any clue what order I was talking about, it would take 10-15 minutes for them to find the order and then another 10-15 minutes to get an update on the order (if I was lucky). More often than not, they said they would call me back and literally never did. After we finally did receive the first order, we had to order the remainder of the $35,000 order and for the second time in a row, we literally went through the same EXACT, HORRENDOUS process. Im talking about 2 to 3 calls per week, from me and my assistant, nobody working in Stone Veneers ever knows about the order or can find the order for some reason, were told one delivery date, only to get zero updates from them when that date falls through. Total waste = 20-30 calls, 12+ working hours, serious backlash from our client, and a feeling of not being cared about at all. Sad thing is, weve ordered from Thompsons before and had decent enough experiences, but this whole thing just made me absolutely furious. Other sad thing is we build four to five $2 million + homes each year and I would have to have some serious apology and explanation to ever feel like I could go back confidently with a client of ours.

This place has a wide variety of unique stone, brick, concrete, etc. for any project at very reasonable prices. They carry a lot of the natural materials in stock and you and view and select your stones and rocks right in their yard. If you have indoor projects, they have a nice show room where you can see products in use.My husband and I have been going here for years for small home projects. But it is only recently when I took on re-lanscaping our front and back yards that their customer service really shined.As a petite female (usually with a child in tow), it can be awkward being in a rock yard with so many heavy items and only an SUV or mini van to haul stuff home. My interactions with the staff was always positive and they helped me choose the right sized materials for the job, both literally and physically. After paying for my items, the staff helped me load my vehicle.They treated everyone with great service whether youre a contractor or a DIYer like me. Skip the big box stores and check out Thompsons!

I want to give a shout out and Props to Thompson Buliding Mat. As a long time 50 year resident of San Diego, I have utilized all the big box and other building material stores for my home renovation projects. Thompson off of Federal Blvd, SD., provides superior customer service and extremely fair and competive pricing for materials. And while my projects are very small inscope as compared to major construction jobs, the sales and staff are always extremely courteous, patient and professional. Of note is Mr. Louie Soto, Inside Sales Manager who recently assisted me if defining both the scope and material requiremnents for a stone veneer project. Mr. Soto was particularly helpful and informative. When/if you require either estimates or purchase of building materials, Thompson Mat. deserves your first consideration.
