Kind of nice I guess. They dont have a lot of stock on hand, and the stock they do have isnt labeled. No prices on anything, so you can either ask the person behind the counter for a price (and do the walk of shame when/if its not the price you thought) or just wander around in a state of confusion. Probably wont go back, mainly because I had no idea how he most of the stuff cost and because theyre more focused on doll houses and bird feeding (nothing wrong with that, just that when I see hobbies I expect to see plastic models, trains, r/c, slot cars, in quantities of more than 1 or 2 pieces).Edit: My error and apologies. I didnt realize most of their business was done online now. Their website does indeed have a varied array of products from a range of hobbies. I did not realize this going into the store, as I must have missed it on their webpage. I guess Im just not tech-savvy enough to find where it was written. I still will not be going back, though now it will be because I will just order from them directly online rather than going to the showroom.
I purchased an item on July 31. Did not ship until August 5. Spent money for priority mail. Still do not have it. It is August 16. Demanded a refund and Dan did a great job of blowing me off.
The staff at Oakridge is very nice and they have an interesting array of products in their store. They are one of the very few places that will still fix the Razor scooters in the suburbs. The repair was good quality, even though the pandemic has interrupted business in many ways most people dont understand, Chris was on top of the situation and was able to get it done. Hobby stores are very hard hit by the pandemic with no train/hobby shows, so if you get a chance, their store in Lemont would be a cool place to visit and pick up a new toy!
Dont order from them. I had a really bad experience and never wrote a review but now they keep sending me spam emails after Ive unsubscribed and I am really fed up. I ordered a poster which had a normal shipping estimate but I waited months for it arrive. I contacted the store by email with no reply so I called them a couple times and kept feeling like I was being lied to. I work a similar job with online orders and shipping and I know it doesnt work that way. They told me my item must have gone missing in transit and they would send me another one on that day and ship it priority mail. I recieved the original poster after that call. The tracking number matched the original poster. The second poster they claimed to have sent by priority never arrived and I doubt they ever did it, they just finally sent my original. When a shipping label is created but there are no updates on the tracking number that is because they havent brought it to the shipping service to be claimed. I didnt appreciate the dodgey behavior when I called them and I definitely dont want to be re-added to their emailing list after Ive unsubcribed.Also after reading the unprofessional replies to negative reviews on Google, I cant wait to see what I get from the owner for being honest. They obviously love to argue with customers.
Yeah I bought a product from this store. It really is an awesome place to do business. I highly recommend asking about the under the counter products they have. All the really rare RC cars and speciality model rockets and boosters you could dream of under the sea and over the moon! Im not sure where these items are coming from since they are some of the most sought after of all time, but never the less this store will have it! They really take care of the customer.

A pretty little mom and pop shop that is also brick and mortar, the last few of the surviving ones. Reasonably well priced stuff, courteous, welcoming owners, helpful and forthcoming with ordering stuff that they have either run out of stock or do not carry. I love this place.

So frustrating! I placed an order on the 16th of February which is still in process. I have reached out to customer service because I noticed a delay in shipping, and was told my order would ship the following week (which would have been >5 business days- absolutely no problem, just wanted to know when it would ship).Well I’m sitting here well over a month later and I have not gotten an email confirming shipping, and no one will respond to my email inquiries regarding my order. Quite honestly I’m beginning to wonder if this is actually a company or a scam.
Amazing customer service. My sons Power Wheels Jeep (purchased from another retailer) came without a steering wheel, which was not discovered until assembly the day before his birthday party. Chris was super helpful, overnighting me the missing part FOR FREE overnight. Made a 3 year old very very happy!

However, I went in looking for rocketry equipment and despite not having very much stock, they ordered what I needed for store pickup at cost. Would recommend if youre a hobbyist who had less common interests or is looking for a great hobby store.
I love to go to local businesses like this. Small shop with a ton of offerings online to boot! We do miniature dollhouses, and were turned on to some miniature shows and communities to network with. The owner is super knowledgeable on a variety of topics.

First time shopper. I am pleased with the cutting boards. I already had two that I use on my counters (as counter protectors, not as cutting boards). I liked them so much that I ordered two more to use as place mats. The design and colors are very nice and go well with my decor. I do wish shipping was a little lower, though.

Easy cleaningSome reviews complain about liquid leaking when its windy, Ive had many different types of liquid feeders and they all will leak on windy days. Try to hang where winds not an issue. Others complain about bees getting into liquid and drowning. Any liquid feed that allows orioles etc will also have bees in them. You have to have a hole large enough to allow birds to get their beaks into. My humming bird feeders only have bee issue when birds pop off the flower over the hole so they can get their beaks into the feeder. Then the bees get in and drown.
I have enjoyed the paint by number purchases I have made over the years. I would love to see more variety with Dimensions or Plaid and also some advanced oil paint by number selections. Cant get enough! Highly recommend this site.
Placed an order for two(2) Butterfly Feeders (online) on May 2, 2020. When I did not hear anything in a week, I emailed asking for a status update on Sunday, May 10, 2020; again with no response. Tuesday, May 12, 2020With this being my first visit, it most likely will also be my last.

I ordered several railroad items on-line having been disappointed by overseas sellers who seem unable to provide tracking. Oakridge fulfilled the order promptly and provided tracking. The price of the items was good and beat the opposition.
Most of their sales are done online, but you can browse their consignment items in the store. Bought a Lionel Aquarium car in good working order pretty reasonable.
Really love going to this place. RC cars are the coolest. If I cant get in then I just go to the website and get what I need in a day or two. I wish all places were this hassle free to deal with.
Went in today to do some early Christmas shopping. I had been to their older store several times over the years and enjoyed shopping there. I wanted to see what their new location would be like. The new store is smaller, but now its nice and cozy and filled with toys that you dont see many places. The prices are also pretty good, as they are the same as they are online on their website. The staff is still the same great friendly staff and very nice and eager to help me find those special gifts. While I will miss their old store, this new one is still a gem.
I havent been into the store, my reivew is based solely on my online ordering experience.I ordered 1 pack of Fidos Frosting on January 16th. On January 31st I checked in my order status and it was still marked as processing. This is a little frustrating since the website says processing is 3 to 5 business days and its been 11 business days with no movement on the order. I sent and email to customer support and received so response so I gave them a call.The lady I spoke with was very helpful and explained that it was prepared to ship but UPS was delayed for 3 days due to weather.After that it was about another 2 days before the item shipped. It did arrive very quickly though. Arrived 2 days after it shipped which was very nice.I would suggest updating your order processing time for online shipments. After reading previous reviews, this seems to be a common thing where the processing takes 1 to 2 weeks.So some pros and some cons with the online ordering. I cant wait to try out the frosting though!

I did receive my products. My products are great. However, Oakridge stated they would ship my order in five business days. It took them more like 10-12 business days to ship my order. If I had known it would be so delayed I would have made plans accordingly. The package was boxed well and not damaged at all.
I have been VERY satisfied with Oak Ridge Hobbies. They have had a nice selection relative to miniature building supplies, as well as landscaping which is purchased from train section. They have done special orders for me and that has worked out well, with good turn-around time. Its also a great place for nice quality childrens toys. Finally, the staff has always been helpful, knowledgable & friendly.
They carried a crosstitch kit that was very hard to find and it was exactly what I expected. But the processing was painfully slow. It came quickly once the post office actually took charge of it but it took over a week to process the order, pull the kit and put it in an envelope. When 5 business days passed and it still hadnt shipped, I called to inquire the status and explain how badly I needed it, but it still took 2 more days to ship. But it was perfect when it arrived.

Very disappointed in my online ordering with this company. I have contacted this seller 3 times for status updates on my order as it was taking way too long. Each time, they gave me a different response and after reading numerous negative reviews about this company, I realized I was dealing with a company that has horrible customer service. First excuse was the weather was too bad for their staff to fulfill orders. Second excuse was that the item was not in stock and their supplier moved to a different location so shipments were delayed. Third excuse was a delay because their supplier updated their software system but they expected it by the end of the week. That was a week ago and my item still was not shipped. I finally emailed them yesterday to cancel and refund the order. I finally got an email today saying they canceled my order but hours later I am still waiting for the refund. As an online seller myself, I refund first, then cancel the order. The customer is entitled to be made whole and not have to wait for their refund.Lesson learned, I should have read their google reviews before ordering. You wont see any negative reviews on their website but I suspect they pad their reviews because they dont have a good rating elsewhere.They cant seem to handle an online business.UPDATE: My review is not inaccurate as the company stated below. Every time I inquired about my order there was a different excuse. I felt like saying pick an excuse and stick with it. As far as my ordering from the company directly, that makes no sense when It was a personal purchase and not a business purchase. Minimum wholesale requirement on Prima is qty. of 3. I am beyond frustrated with Oakridge hobbies . I purchased a 40 watt transformer from them and when it arrived, it didn’t work! I contacted them on June 22nd and explained how urgent I needed a replacement as I was doing a video shoot for a client and it was holding up my job. After contacting Oakridge multiple times, it is now Aug 8th... and I am STILL WAITING and have lots hundreds of dollars as my customer has not gone elsewhere!! Susan Robb, the customer Service manager has not even sent an apology is terrible and done care to even follow up or get back to me. I am beyond disappointed as I have spent hundreds of dollars with this company and not even an apology!! They obviously do not value their customers. 😡😡 DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Terrible! A month later and I still dont have everything I ordered! I odered a miniature kitchen set for my dollhouse through their online department. That same day, I also ordered some dollhouse flooring. The kitchen was not in stock, so they had to order it through the supplier, no big deal, I expected that. Fast forward a few days, I was expecting shipping notification any day and I wanted to see if I could add some miniature chairs to my order. When I called, the guy who answered looked up my order, and told me it was all there and ready to ship, but that they could hold it while they waited for the chairs to come in.Fast forward 2 weeks and I still hadnt heard anything, so I called back. The woman (Im pretty sure shes the manager) I talked to this time said everything was there except the kitchen...wait a minute, you mean the kitchen that I was told had already come and I had already paid for?...*that* kitchen?!Yep, that kitchen.Over the next 2 weeks I called a few more times. They did send the flooring and chairs, but only after I said that I would be in the area the next day (she said the kitchen should be there in the morning) and I can pick everything up. She said that she would call me back the next day (the day I was in the area) and when she did, the kitchen still hadnt come. She simply offered to send what they did have only to change the subject.The next time I called, she (the manager) even tracked my kitchen in an order from the supplier -- which was a total lie.I finally got them to admit the original kitchen had been sold out from under me. My kitchen that I had already paid for was sold to someone else. She tried claiming that the guy I had spoken to must have failed to pull it from the shelves...by now I was so fed up that I just asked for my money back, and I didnt waste my breath telling her that I knew she was lying because that particular kitchen had been ordered specifically for me. As of this writing, I have an email stating the refund, but not enough time has passed to see if it went through to my credit card.Dont order from these people!!
They have a very wide selection of different products. Im not sure how their other departments are, but in their miniature dollhouse area, prices are very high, even for a private hobby shop. Their consignment areas are reasonable, but everything new is twice the big box store price and 2.5 times the online price. Products in this area are not clearly labeled with prices, either, so you have to tell them no at the checkout counter. It was an overall offputting experience.
I dont understand the negative reviews at all. The negative reviews almost kept me from ordering, but I took a chance, because Oakridge had the Carrera slot car set I wanted, at the best price with free shipping.Even though this was the Christmas season, my order was shipped the day after I placed the order and I received it 6 days later. The shipping packaging was very good and the contents undamaged. I would not hesitate ordering from Oakridge Hobbies again. Thank you Oakridge!

This place is terrible!! They are nothing but, a scam the old lady on the phone was nothing but rude, they didn’t have my items in stock never told me . And still isn’t here about a month! Some people shouldn’t be in charge of business and should shut down .
Placed an order over a month ago, it has not shipped, and I have had no other communication from them as to the status of my order. They have no weekend customer service, but claim to to be a hobby shop. Hobbyists do hobbies on weekends - dont they? Ill have to go through the credit card company to ensure the order is cancelled, and Ill need to place a new order elsewhere.

Decent variety of cars and trains and kits, but staff was more interested in the RC car catalog, than talking to my son who had a pretty good idea what he wanted when he came in.
This was a gift for my niece who is learning to sew, she was thrilled as was her mom. I am not in the same state so I have not seen the actual gift as yet.
Oakridge Hobbies had what I needed at a reasonable price, and they followed up nicely regarding a backordered item. I will definitely buy from them again.

Boyfriend ordered an item a few months back. He never received a tracking number, and had to email the company after a month of waiting. They replied several days later with Oh, well ship it and send you a tracking number by the end of the week!Two weeks later, he gets an email saying hes suspected of fraud? Anywho, long story short, it took over two months for the damn thing to arrive. He could have ordered it from Amazon and received it immediately, but he thought hed give this company his business. I dont recommend Oakridge Hobbies.

Horrible customer service. 4 emails with no replies. Called twice, first time was told my product would be here by Christmas. Second call was told they werent sure I would get it since they order it from another company and have it shipped from THEM and not Oakridge! Listed as in stock on their website when I ordered. Tried calling back twice after this and got a message saying no one was available, but then I immediately called from a different number and got an immediate answer on the other end. Screening calls from upset customers I guess. Canceled my order. Thought this was an independent store with their own stock and not just some one making a commission on taking online orders. The following message has been updated to include a response.Ordered nearly $150 worth of product, and had an extremely disappointing experience. Several of the items never arrived, and in the lot of those that did, a handful were broken. I attempted to connect with the business over telephone, and what I experienced was the worst example of customer service I have ever had. The woman who answered appeared to have zero interest in talking to me. I attempted to provide a detailed list of items that were missing or damaged, and I was informed to just send them back, before being hung up on. Because of this, I filed a PayPal request return, where I provided a written list of items that did not arrive, a list of items that were damaged, and a list of items that were being returned for other reasons. I filed the complaint on March 6, and received their initial response the following day. In this response, Sue Robb suggested that I was lying about the damaged items. I responded, asking for return instructions once again. After a month of no further contact by the sellers, Paypal awarded a full refund, more than I was attempting to receive. Paypal closed the case on April 1. Later that week, I was sent a return label. I was not contacted by telephone or email in an attempt to rectify the situation.The overall lack of professionalism is deeply insulting, and based on the responses theyve provided to other customers on Google Reviews, it appears to be an ongoing problem. Perhaps individuals working for the firm should undergoing some customer service training. Alas, based on this extremely unfortunate experience, I would recommend avoiding online purchases with this store.RESPONSE IS AS FOLLOWS:You’re now lying on a google review; you never emailed me in regards to my refund request. My initial contact was via telephone, which you responded without providing instructions for returns. You never informed me of a restocking fee throughout this process, and this is the first time it has ever been mentioned to me that a return label would not be provided. If you had responded via Paypal, as you claim, you could have cited this return policy. Paypal would not have closed the case citing a lack of response on your behalf. They did not drop the ball, you did. They did not forget to respond to customers, you did. If you acted with even a hint of professionalism, this would have never been an issue.You can be in business for over 30 years, you can pretend like that supports your reputation, but when over twenty percent of your Google Reviewers give you 1 star, there might be a trend to consider. You’ve responded to every one of these negative reviews, but you don’t have the time to respond to Paypal disputes. Nice little toy shop...But, not a hobbyists dream, they have a little of a few different things. A few train kits, track, and individual cars for HO, O, and N. The RC section is all intro level; typical park flier and traxxas rtr stuff. They have an equal sized section of slot car stuff.If youre looking for a specialty part for something high end, I would count on it.

Wish I would have read these reviews before I ordered online. Placed my order December 5th and paid for upgraded shipping. Contacted them December 20th because I had no order confirmation, email, shipping notification NOTHING. Dec 21st they refund my whole order and apologize that they oversold and didnt have my item in stock. Did it really take 16 days to realize you didnt have a puzzle??? If I wouldnt have contacted you would you have kept my money indefinitely? Also now I have 3 days to get a gift for someone and have to find it locally in my tiny farming community. Great!!!!! Im sure that wont be impossible. Ruined Christmas.
Went to the store based on the stock of models, paints and RC Stuff their website claimed they had. Upon walking thru the doors I was immediately disappointed. Selection was terrible. Store doesnt seem to know what it wants to be. Is this a boutique toy store? A hobby shop? A doll house store? A Lego store? Who knows, and who cares, because the fact is it fails at anything it is attempting to be. Frustrated, one of the employees told me to order from them on-line. I did. I am waiting to see if I get my order. If I do, I will revise this rating to a 3.

I wish they had an option for no stars....spent over 2 grand 2 weeks ago and went in today for 1 part btw about 70 percent mark up and waited 20 mins while cashier talked about the weather to an elderly couple then went into another 10 minutes arguing over points for 5 dollars off their next purchase....just go to Michaels across the street for 50 percent off. 6 people behind me left. All so this cashier could ring up a 10 dollar order while about $200 walked out the door sick of waiting. Ordered a number of train supplies on Sunday with the expectation they would ship in 1-2 days per their website. After 3 days, I called them and they said the items were shipped today. They werent and 3 more days went by without them being shipped. So they lied and they were slow. Not Good. Wont be ordering from them again. Go Amazon.
