They kept me updated with their findings with pictures and videos explaining the the issue through text and also showed the damaged parts upon pickup! Door cables broke so that we were unable to open the back door on our truck. We scheduled a repair and they had it fixed very quickly. They also let us know when any other maintenance is soon needed.

I made an emergency call to Kestner’s due to a tire leak. Thankfully, it was still inflated enough to drive on, and I was told I could bring it in right away — not a week from next Tuesday. They took great care of me, explained the problem, and I was in and out within a half hour. The tire is feeling better and still going strong. Even if you’re reading this and thinking “So what? That must have been a minor problem and simple fix,” consider instead how much burden was lifted from me for the rest of my day, and it didn’t even cost me $20. There’s so much to be said for true professionalism; especially these days.

Brought my vehicle in for a oil leak for a second opinion after visiting another local repair shop. Kestner Automotive took the time to check over vehicle and insert dye to locate leak. After driving a few days to circulate the oil I returned to have them review the results. The last shop wanted to have me believe I needed a rear main seal AND a front crankshaft seal replaced. The total estimated repair for both those items was in excess of $2500….well Kestner Automotive determined none of that was true. As another example of greed by the other shop I was quoted about $1200 or so to replace the shocks on my vehicle, Kestner quote for same thing was just over $700. Kestner has earned my trust for future repairs and as far as that other local place…well Brother, they weren’t very Christian

The work on my car was done in a day. When I went to get my car I needed a down payment which I didnt have until I got paid 2 days later so they lent me a car to use. Everyone there is very kind and helpful

Josh (service manger or something) was horrible. He kept pushing me to buy things that were un-needed. As a woman I take high offense to that. He assumed I wasn’t mechanically inclined since I’m not a man. Saying I need brakes and wipers when I just got them replaced at another shop (which he obviously wasn’t aware of.) I don’t appreciate this at all. The gentleman who actually serviced my vehicle was very kind and helpful. So were the other employees. The service itself was exceptional, but was very disappointed at the lack of customer service and professionalism from josh. Will not be returning unless I deal with someone else.

I spoke with Josh and requested a quote for clutch replacement on my Jeep Cherokee and stated that I had already bought a heavy duty clutch kit including the flywheel because it was better than the OEM clutch. Josh explained that they would not use parts that I purchased because they warranty their parts and admitted thats why their price is higher and that other garages, even Pope-Davis across the street, would use their own parts. He also stated that it would require 7 and a half hours to do the replacement. Kestner was the 3rd garage I had gotten a quote from and was hands down the highest. I left there and went to Pope-Davis to see and not only was it less time for the labor, they said that they would use my clutch kit, making their quote nearly half of Kestners (I never mentioned visiting Kestner). Every other garage I visited quoted 4 to 6 hours for labor and the one I decided to use (located in Irmo) quoted me a total of $450; 4 hours, labor only, using my clutch kit. Compared to Kestners $1600+ quote, I definitely took my business elsewhere.The moral of this story is be sure to shop around before you settle on a garage. Kestner isnt the only garage that does good work and has a good reputation.

The unplanned loss of our alternator took place while we were on an important, time-sensitive trip. Autozone across the street had just sold us a battery, only to discover that the problem was bigger. Kestner recognized the nature of our need, jumped right on the alternator, changed the oil, and had us back on the road quickly. Professional and reasonable!

We had an oil tube rupture on our minivan. Total emergency! Luckily we didnt lose the engine. We had the car towed to Kestner because of the great reviews. They fixed it with OEM parts the very next day. We were very satisfied with the communication, pricing, and professionalism of Josh and his staff. We will definitely use them again if needed and wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Glad to know measures are being implemented to minimize risk.On 12/3/2020 I spoke with a service advisor (Josh) at Kestner Automotive regarding an issue with my vehicle. He noted that the shop would be able to diagnose/fix the problem and would drive me back to my home in their courtesy vehicle because the diagnosis and repair would take several hours. Unfortunately the employee driving the courtesy vehicle did not wear a mask while transporting me so after a few minutes I asked if he would roll the window down. He complied with the request.Later that afternoon Josh contacted meand conveyed the services needed to remedy the issues. Prior to concluding the call I asked Josh if his driver could wear a mask when he picks me up- that my dad has serious health issues and I don’t want him to get Covid-19. I noted that he/driver didn’t wear one the previous day. Josh was apologetic and noted he would speak to the driver about wearing a mask while transporting customers.On 12/4/2020 the service advisor noted that they would meet me at my home at approximately 530pm so that I could be driven back to the shop to pay for the repairs and retrieve my vehicle. Shortly before 530 I noticed the driver from 12/3/20 parked in front of my home with my newly repaired vehicle and once again he was not wearing a mask. I told him I was confused about why he drove my car to my home rather than the courtesy vehicle. He stated, “oh, you can drive me back to the shop.” I politely explained that I could not drive him back to the shop because he drove my vehicle without a mask on. I went on to explain my dad’s health and that I could not safely get in my vehicle with him-knowing he had driven it without a mask (or gloves).Long story short, it began to rain and I told him he could wait in the garage and that I would contact Josh. I explained the situation to Josh and he said, “you expect me to close my shop and come pick up my worker?” I explained to him that I would pay for an Uber to come get his employee but it was not safe for me/my family to get in my vehicle with someone that had just driven our vehicle without a mask (plus I brought this to his attention the previous day). He went on to say, “how do you expect to pay for your charges...I can’t bring the credit card machine to you.” I politely asked himif he would take my payment over the phone and reiterated that I would pay an Uber driver to take his employee back to the shop. He declined the offer and said he would pick him up. When Josh arrived he handed me my receipt ($779.13), his employee got in the car and they drove off- no apology- nothing. Note: as the employee stood in my garage he noted having underlying conditions.It’s my hope that this organization adopts a company-wide mask wearing policy. I wasn’t going to write a review but was encouraged to do so because it could very well save someone’s life.Update: I appreciate the owners response- thanks so much. I took my 2005 Chevy Silverado to Kestner Auto in Lexington, SC to have an O-Ring replaced on the oil pick up tube because of low oil pressure at idle and at highway speeds. Once Kestner had the truck in their shop they diagnosed the issue and stated that there was no issue with oil pressure and that the top end of the engine needed to be rebuilt. New lifters, rods, rocker arms, cam shaft, and timing belt... estimated cost was $4,500 for parts and labor. The second option would be to replace the entire engine with a remanufactured motor for $7,500. I paid the $100 diagnostic charge and left without any repairs done. The next day we had the O-Ring replaced from Busbys Automotive in Newberry, SC which has completely fixed the low oil pressure issue and had silenced all ticking in the upper part of the motor. I would not recommend taking your vehicle to Kestner Automotive

I went back to Kestner and worked with Josh. After the first time I visited I booked an online appointment and there there were issues with the online system. I gave them a second chance and I was impressed with the professionalism and knowledge that they have, and appreciated the updates I got on a big job for my truck. Hopefully the online booking systems are worked out, but I enjoyed working with Josh the second time around. I would also rethink the approach about responding Im sorry we couldnt accommodate you in one day, as it wasted a lot of my time. Only reason I went back was because of talking to Josh.

I have to say theyre the best around. Great service, friendly staff and they know what their doing with quality repairs. Ive always been extremely happy with everything Ive had done their, and will continue to use them as long as their doors are open.

This is one place were you can truly trust the mechanic. We took our van here after we took it to a Honda dealership for an oil change. The dealership said we would need more than $5,000 in work. We took it to Kestner with the detailed needed work and they rechecked the van. Kestner explained that there was nothing wrong with my van except it needed a tire rotation and pointed out on the forms that the dealership labeled all the extra work as owner request (which we didnt). Kestner saved me money and gives great explanations when there is something needed. A place passionate about cars and doesnt try to pull one over. I would 10/10 recommend.

I had a less than stellar experience with another auto service in our area, so I decided to find someone else. I was very impressed with the good service I received at Kestner. When I made my appointment, I had failed to mention a second problem that I had wanted checked, but he added it on and took care of it for me the same day. I didn’t have to make a separate appointment. I’m very happy to have found such a friendly, professional place that I feel confident will take good care of my car from now on.

I had an amazing experience at Kestner recently. This is a bit long, but please read it. On the terribly rainy cold day before Christmas Eve, I had gone to an appointment at my usual place of business to get a rear blinker bulb replaced and tire pressures checked. I was told that the bulb was not burned out, and I likely had an electrical issue that they were not equipped to diagnose. I was very concerned as I was going to be traveling on 1-77 on Christmas Eve AM in the rain. I went to another business that I knew, and it was closed. Then I remembered reading good reviews about Kestner so I drove across Lexington to go there. Immediately after getting out of my car in the rain, I was kindly greeted by a man I think is a manager, and I explained my situation. It was about 3 PM, and they were busy. Within 10 minutes, a pleasant mechanic was checking out the blinker issue. He came in the sitting area and informed the manager and me that he had replaced the blinker bulb which had been burned out. I then asked him if he could please check my tires as I was now concerned that the other business may not have done that. He immediately did and added 5 lbs to each low tire. Then he informed me that that he had checked my cars hood, and it had not been closed at the other business ( where I will never return!) He securely closed it. After all this, Kestner would not charge me anything!!Kestner Automotive obviously hires employees of good character who are conscientious. Why would you not do business with them!Thank you Kestner for your kindness and service! You definitely brightened my Christmas and helped to make it a safe one!!

Superior customer service! I caught a flat in a parking across the street and the men who worked here were amazingly helpful. They worked with me getting my car to the shop and getting bolts off my wheel that unfortunately I didnt have a key for. It started off as an awful day, but with Kestner Automotive they made my day better. I was coming back from the zoo with my kids. My car started acting up and I pulled into a parking lot. Had my father come look at the car but had checked for auto repair near me. Thank goodness I was in the same parking lot behind Kestner Automotive! Dead battery and dead alternator. It was 5:30 on Tuesday. Left the car and got a call back before 10:00 am on Wednesday. From my first impression of your add and information on their website, it caused me to give Kestner a call. Tim Swain took my call and from our conversation, I decided to take my vehicle to them. I was met by knowledge people who thoroughly explained what needed to be done. The technician did exactly what was explained to me and my SUV was repaired. These guys are awesome. I’m originally from Pennsylvania where it is required to get your vehicle inspected every year, and when I went to them to get my cars oil changed, they inspected it without charge. Recently, I took my CR-V to get fixed and they fixed it quickly. They know their stuff. I’d recommend them to anybody.

Never happy to spend money on a vehicle, however, our experience with Tim was so over the top Awesome the expenditure was not as painful as it thought it was going to be. Tims communication was fantastic, his diagnosis of the problem was on point, and the overall level of customer service was the best experience I have had at any retail establishment in recent memory. I feel like I have someone I can trust to shoot me straight and in the world of car repair, that in my experience does not happen.

Had an excellent time here. I stopped in because my engine splash guard and torn loose and was dragging the road, actually grinding it down. They where able to remove it that day, and had the part the next day. Installation was only 15 minutes, and the total cost was very reasonable (parts plus 1/3rd an hour of labor).

Highly recommend Kestner! I went to O’Reilleys across the street for my dying battery and they weren’t able to replace it because of the location (Ford sucks). They told me to go to Kestner’s and I am very happy! Went on a Thursday night and came back on Saturday morning to get it replaced. It took under an hour and was less than I was originally quoted!! Also, the chairs are very comfy in the waiting room. I will definitely go back there instead of the Ford dealership down the street. Honest pricing, quick service, pleasant employees!

Real friendly people. Went in for an oil change. They also fixed two other small problems while they were at it. The service manager Chris told me why my car was idling a little rough. They also fixed that. I am completely satisfied with their work. I recommend these guys highly!

I needed to get my oil changed and I took my own oil and my own oil filter and he changed my oil for me and did not overcharged me I would continue going to him for all my car needs. Thank you for helping me when I needed help. A lot of people would have turned me away but he did not.

Adding to previous post: I got another oil change and asked for a tire rotation this time. A little bit later Manager Josh called me in to look at my tires. They were seriously shot (btw, these were $600 Bridgestone tires I got at BJs in NY 26000 miles prior- I’ll never buy them again!) Josh made a call and came back with a very fair price. I really trust him to do right and so far he has been completely upstanding. I highly recommend Kestner here in Lexington if you need to take your car somewhere for service. (Previous review:) Dropped my car off for an oil change since I didn’t have an appointment. Got a call about an hour later that it was fine! Awesome. Love this place. Moved to Lexington 1 year ago and haven’t had to try anyone else.

They recommended unnecessary work!My regular mechanic checked over everything Kestner said that I needed and found it all unnecessary except for to change the wiper blades . I will not be going back.Update to the owner: Calling customers liars, good grief! 1. I have a Toyota NOT a VW and if you had READ the review you would see that I have been there 3 times before and each time received BLENDED oil. 2. your staff person is not being honest. My car was giving me an “airbag system service required” message so I called Kestner’s and they got me in the very next day. I dropped it off and they had it ready to go the next day, and changed my oil for me while it was in. The price was way below what I thought it would be as well. Kestner himself was extremely nice and had amazing customer service. He was also very knowledgeable, as my husband had questions about his truck that Kestner was able to answer easily. I will definitely be using them again for any automotive service I need and would highly recommend them.

Took my car to them for the first time with a window not working anymore and in the down position. They were extremely friendly on the phone and when I got there they almost immediately knew what was wrong. They even did a free safety check and found out the reason behind a squeak in my front left tire(the hubcap after all these years 😂)! They had my window motor replaced in no time! And while I waited, a woman with her three kids came in with a stuck seatbelt. They fixed it for her free of charge! Just a good bunch of people at this shop! I get my oil changed at Kestner and they are always super nice and quick with their service. Also, theyve got a pretty great system for reminding you about your oil needing to be changed. Ive read previous reviews and heard good things so I instantly felt comfortable coming here. I initially called and spoke with Tim who is very knowledge about cars and I explained the issue I had so he told me to bring it right in. I brought it in and he handled my issue right away even meeting me at the door to get my keys and handled quickly. I definitely recommend them to others.

Very accommodating to my needs even though its not something they usually do. Had me in and out in about 15 minutes. Tim was polite, personable, and a pleasure to work with. If youre looking for an auto shop to drop the stealership, give Kestner a shot. Ill be back!

Nothing but 5 stars will do for these guys. Had a break issue with Honda van for last 4 years and had taken it to be corrected twice with Honda. Never was resolved. Kestner figured out problem in 10 minutes, worked me in same day as I had a trip the next day. New breaks (pads/roters) and my 4 year old issue with 2 sets of breaks through Honda - was finally resolved by Kestner! Business/Service Manager Tim is also 5 star guy. Super helpful, curious, respectful, knowledgeable and conscientious! GREAT service manager! Thanks Kestner!!!

Tim and his team were completely amazing and totally accommodating while fixing my VW. They let us bring it in that day and had us out the door the next day! So speedy but yet great service! I will not be taking my vehicle to any one else in the future. Tim and his guys are GREAT!

I had a last minute problem with my car and Tim responded quickly to my call and his crew had my car finished in a quick manner. The customer service is awesome. Will be back for all my car needs.

I was told by the manager that I needed ten thousand dollars in repairs on the front end of my 2010 F150 Super crew cab truck. Afterward I had a front end mechanic check my truck and he couldnt find anything wrong. I had very good service with the previous manager . Im not planning on coming back. I will not be back because I wasnt treated ho nessly. I took my truck to two frontend specialist and was told there is nothing wrong with my trucks frontend. I would like a copy of the pictures you took to show them to my mechanics. Nothing needed to be fixed . I dont think these guys were planning on working on my truck, but I felt they didnt know how to work on it. I was glad to learn from other mechanics that there was nothing wrong with the frontend of my truck. That was a tremendous relief to me.
