We loved how informative, helpful and patient the staff were with our kids. We had many questions about the band instrument rental program and felt that this was the best. Willis’ program grows with a multiple children family and can be transferred from child to child or instrument to instrument in the case of changing desires. Also they have instructors of many instruments at a more than reasonable cost. In addition to the flexibility of the program, overall price, and friendliness of the staff; the staff’s humor and jovial nature made this endeavor a pleasant experience. Willis earned our business for 4+ years.
If youre looking for an alternative to Guitar Center, I would highly recommend heading to Willis Music. The workers here are driven and passionate about music and will help you find exactly what you need. They have an excellent selection of instruments, accessories, hardware and sheet music. I genuinely cant say enough good things about Willis Music! Also, if you go in there, try and find Karl. Hes helped me dozens of times and is one most knowledgeable musicians Ive met!
This place is amazing. I have been doing business for many years. They are honest and very informative about what you need.
Cannot recommend this shop as highly as it deserves. Staff is always friendly and attentive and the store is clean and organized. Customer service is spot on. Micah was an excellent salesperson, he helped me find a specific guitar and had it brought in from one of their other locations. When I arrived it was clean, tuned, and ready to play. Willis knows how to treat their customers as well as they know their products. Happy to do business with them in the future.
I worked with Dustin to get a Yamaha CLP 745 for a friends birthday. He wasnt sure when they would get another one in, but took my number to notify me if one arrived. He followed through and let me know when one was arriving, and I was able to get it in time for the birthday - making both me and the recipient very happy!
Great friendly staff - I’ve both bought and and sold items to Willis Music and I’ve gotten a fair deal every time. They have a premium product selection and I’m all for supporting a local brick and mortar store that lets you try before you buy.
Very knowledgeable staff! Helpful and friendly! My 13 yr old grandson loves going in there and trying out new guitars and bass! Because he has shown he knows what hes doing and treats the instruments with care and respect, they let him play just about anything. If I ask them questions about their instruments, policies, the store, etc they take the time to answer my questions & make sure I understand. Great quality instruments and reasonable prices! (They offer lessons, too!)
Great music store, super knowledgeable staff. Skip guitar center and go around the corner and see these guys. Support your local music store!
Wonderful place! Everyone was so friendly and helped find what we were looking for. Very knowledgeable and passionate about all things music!! I was very impressed with the personable service!! Also cool perks offered for shopping there...I actually won an Ukele and $1,000 from two giveaway drawings!!!👍😊
Very nice employees, very helpful!
There is always a knowledgeable person there to help and answer questions.
Staff was very knowledgable and eager to help! Great job!
Staff is knowledgeable of most musical needs. Whatever isnt available they can get. Professional, friendly and courteous.
Very helpful staff! They had a great selection of inventory as well.
Excellent experience with great staff and a well rounded music store. Will be buying my gear again in future.
Willis employees are so much more responsive and helpful compared to other nearby music stores
Friendly staff, good selection, great experience.
Absolutely amazing service and super friendly attitude. Will be going back for sure!
Excellent service and information about ukuleles from the staff at Willis Music
Went in looking for a 24 bass drum head and spoke with Carl. He helped me pick the best one and gave me several options prior. The best place to go to get help from really knowledgeable musicians, ive shopped here for years and will keep coming back time and time again.
The experts on staff go the extra mile to meet your music needs!
I recently discovered this store. The staff is friendly and very helpful, the prices are good, and their unique build-your-own Black Friday sale is fantastic. I may wander back into guitar center from time to time to browse, but Id rather spend my money at Willis, for the same reason Id rather support a family restaurant than a major chain.
Perfect spot for ukuleles. 51 in stock. Great selection. The price and instrument I wanted. Karl was a great help.
Ive been shopping at Willis since 1995 and the quality of the service has only improved since that time. Chris and Micah, the gentlemen who helped me, did so knowledgeably and made several recommendations to suit my needs that I would never have considered otherwise. I trust this store completely for all of my audio and musical instrument needs and cannot recommend them highly enough. Excellent service, a quality product, at a fair price. You cant go wrong. Thank you!!
Great place. Staff always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Staff is always friendly and welcoming!
Willis Music Co. staff are knowledge, friendly, and eager to help! They have a wide selection of products with wide range of prices, so there is certainly something for everyone. Highly recommend taking the SDML guitar lessons here as well!
This is THE music store to go to in Lexington! If youre looking for a piano, be sure to see Dustin Austin. They have several beautiful pianos for all budgets! I have played on Yamaha for years and love their consistent quality!I just bought a great pair of in ear monitors from David. His recommendation lined up with every online review I read! They had them in stock and their price was the best I could find. They have a ton of great products, but the best part is the friendly staff. I have made friends with the staff, and theyre always willing to help me find what I need! This is a great store that you should definitely visit!
Outstanding customer service by music enthusiasts!
I bought a Yamaha dxt522k and I enjoy it a lot. Carl at Willis Music was very helpful and I will buy from this store again
Willis Music is fantastic. Ive made several purchases there over the years and their staff is no pressure, knowledgeable, and most of all friendly. I highly recommend them.
At least three times now Ive left the big guitar store, driven 1/4 mile to Willis, and bought an instrument. Willis associates actually wants to sell you something instead of being annoyed by your presence.
They helped me pick out the right guitar for my daughter & only necessary accessories. They were awesome! Explained everything & played the guitar when I asked, so I could hear the sound. Two thumbs up! 👍👍
Rhino gig bags. I just want to warn anyone thinking of buying the rhino gig bags they sell here. Dont purchase one. Had the gig bag less than one month and carried it to church twice in back seat of my car. Already it is coming apart at the seams. Handle is coming off also. Their website says no returns after one month. Emailed them and they dont bother to reply. I will never purchase another instrument or gear from this store
They were very helpful to have what I need to get my church together thank you for the help!!!!
Staff is always great, and store is really pretty good for a town this size. We have drummers in our house, and were a little surprised at the selection they had in stock. Ended up buying our last kit here, and are very happy with the entire process. Some sticks and gear might be a bit overpriced, but nothing too much to complain about.
I had a great experience buying from Willis Music! I was looking for a nice keyboard for my studio and stopped in theyre Lex store, everyone was super helpful and knowledgeable. Now Im putting down killer sounding tracks and I couldnt be happier with my purchase! Im a customer for life now, thanks guys!!
Great friendly service!!
I called on the first day of school (busiest day of the year for them) because I needed a keyboard STAT at a reasonable price. Ashley was a great help on the phone and Stephen was great when I got to the store. They have earned my music business.
Really enjoyed shopping there and will return again and again.
The staff here was very helpful and kid friendly. Don’t be afraid to bring the whole family here. Staff was great, prices were fair, and selection was good. Their rewards program is good also.
Have been in Lexington for a few days, just passing through. Stopped in today (3/31/14) to pick up a banjo capo and clip-tuner. Very impressed with the selection, them having some quality instruments and a good collection of written material. Employees are some good folks, really friendly too. Would definitely recommend paying them a visit! Makes me wish we a store like this back home!
Nice people with good memories. Remembered fixing my mandolin three years ago. And dont make fun of me when its not worth fixing. Thanks for the courteous service. Ill be back!
Needed a sound system for our church with a small budget. The Assistant manager was wonderful. Even texted his manger for advice to make sure we got everything we need. Wont shop anywhere else but here from now on.
Best service. Best selection. Best staff.Made life easy to shop for someone who loves music.
They have an ok selection. When i was in the store i had a man in a dressed down suit staring at me the whole time. I felt uncomfortable so i left...
Great customer service. Made sure my piano sounded exactly how I wanted. 110%!!
I absolutely LOVE this place!!
An all-star staff that is very knowledgeable and very friendly. Add this to their fantastic selection and youve got a great music store.
Great staff and very helpful.
David was very informative and patient with our daughter being introduced to the viola, her first instrument.
The staff is always helpful and great to work with. They have a great selection of merchandise and lessons on almost any instrument.
One young lady who was helping us was not very knowledgeable, but then we were helped by someone else and was much more helpful and we were able to get what we need.
I bought a Yamaha electronic drum set here, they have been very very responsive and very fast in helping me with any technical issues I might have. Not to mention they are always really nice and very knowledgeable people.Another good thing youll get from shopping here as opposed to Guitar Center is that you are helping a small(er) business that still takes pride in the elbow grease of it all... the store still has that old school charm to it as opposed to other music stores that literally just feel like a Walmart with guitars on the shelves. You can get anything you would get anywhere else, and if you cant they will order it for you, but this really does feel like your small town music shop that we all remember.Very solid place to shop. My first choice for most of the things I need.
They saved me when I needed a clarinet at the last minute for a performance. They were great!!!!
First off, any place that has its own private performance hall in the back with a 9-foot grand piano and chamber seating aint messin around here. Perfect space for recitals or an intimate concert/showcase.I found the best Yamaha acoustic-electric guitar ive ever owned, with a custom hardshell case, all for around $300 bucks, What? I also purchased a sunburst Kurt Cobain Fender Squire in perfect condition for around $150 with a set of new strings. What? The staff are all passionate about music and it shows. As accomplished musicians and songwriters in their own right, they will do whatever it takes to gain your trust as a repeat customer. If i had to sum up what there is to like about Willis, its that you feel so dang good about music and the local music scene every time you walk through those doors. Just stroll in, hang out, get the feel of the place and youll see exactly what im talking about.Good vibes. Good folks. Willis is sure to have everything you need. And if they dont have exactly what youre looking for, theyll find it and get it for you. Now that i think about it, im heading over there right now!
Called them to inquire about renting an instrument for my son who is in band at a local school. Asked if they rented tenor saxophones. The response was a yes and the employee said we just got a few new ones in today. Said it was roughly 51 dollars a month. He asked for my name so he could put it aside, i said great, be there shortly. A short while later when i arrive, they pulled the instrument they put aside for me and after a few mins, i was told that the price magically went up to 75 dollars because it was new. They then showed me a dinged, damaged, scratched, terribly conditioned saxaphone and told me thats what i would get for the 50 dollar amount. I then asked to speak to the manger who showed me in his pamplet that new instruments were Slightly higher.I guess the definition of slightly is 50 percent more...according to willis music. Bad experience.Hurst music rents out new instruments for around the same price so no more business with willis music.
Nice place friendly customer service but not a great selection on guitars and amps.
Not only were we given a reasonable price on our new Clavinova, the consultants went above and beyond with great customer service, in home deliver and hands on instruction. They were fantastic!!!!
Went in, found what i needed in 10 minutes or so, and was assisted by friendly staff. As far as businesses go in my book theyre solid and much quieter than Guitar Center with their wanna be rock stars playing at full volume.
Sourced an instrument for me that was not in the store great service and best of all these guys are all musicians..
Great folks - always very helpful.
Hope to internship here soon sounds like a great place
I cant say enough good things about Brad and the folks at Willis Music. I started playing guitar back in November of 2012 and had restrung my Ibanez Artist 500E completely wrong and Brad had my strings in stock, restrung and tuned it for me; all the while showing me the correct way to string it without that condescending attitude or looking down his nose at me that you get at other Guitar stores. Then this month (August 2013) I had my Dean Custom 350F in to get the action adjusted. Brad once again adjusted it perfectly in about 5 mins and didnt charge a dime. Best thing was; I found a used, classic Marshall Valvetrane 2000 AVT20 for a very fair price that I walked out with. I cannot say enough good things about that amp, but most importantly about the customer service and courtesy of the true professionals at Willis Music. If your tired of the attitude you might encounter at the big box Guitar stores, Willis Music is the place to go.
Incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patientThey were super awesome
Great service and easy to do business with!
If they dont have what you need, they can get it fast. Clerks can be a bit snotty.
I love willis and everything aboutit
Awesome experience!
Great Customer Service
