Great work, great attention to detail. Shawn knows what hes doing. Not only did he tell me what was wrong with my vehicle, he showed me. Then he gave me not one, but 3 estimates. The first was just to fix the problem with after market parts, which was the most budget-friendly option. The next was to fix the problem and some other stuff that was likely to need fixing soon, with after market parts. The final one was the same as the second one, but with genuine Toyota OEM parts. You generally dont get service like that from the dealers, even when you bought your Toyota from them. Also, they offer a free second-opinion. You get an estimate from a local dealer, bring that estimate to Shawn and hell give you an experts second opinion. You can tell by all the certificates on the wall that hes been a Toyota master technician for a long time, and he keeps his certifications current. Cant go wrong here.

I didnt get a call until Monday which left us without her car for 6 days.It seems that they take on more work they can handle so instead of telling people to wait they just accept the work. Shawn was a very down to earth individual and did a stellar job on my vehicle. It was after I payed my bill and then looked at my charges. According to Shawn it was only going to cost me 55 plus tax. I noticed a charge for hazardous materials and parts when all I came there for was to get my keys reprogrammed. It was a little charge and when I confronted Amanda she said thats just the way it is. If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones...According to the good Word. I feel like I would not be able to trust them with the big stuff because I felt cheated on the small stuff. Also, make sure they give you the price before they do the work. It would have been a nice customer service to have known the price first. Shawn was great, the store manager was not.

I have told this story many many times but it is worth repeating. My husband and I were returning from vacation from Northern Minnesota to SW Missouri. Everything going great until we stopped to fill up with gas in Liberty Missouri.. Getting back on the highway the car, Toyota sequoia, began to shake and the dashboard light up like a Christmas tree.We pulled off the highway and being it was about 10:30 Saturday night we decided to get a hotel room. Our plan was to find a mechanic that we could get into on Monday but being my husband had to work Monday we world have to rent him a car and I would stay in liberty with the car. After getting into our hotel room we started looking in the phone book for mechanics.. I got on Google and searched also and saw great reviews for this company Toytechs.I told my husband to call and see if we could leave a message about our plight. But to our surprise Shawn answered the phone. My husband explained the situation and asked if we could we bring the car in Monday. Shawn said well youre not very far from me I will just ride my bike up there and check it out.Now my husband was a little shocked and maybe not thinking straight. He hangs up the phone and says the guy Shawn is close by and going to ride his bicycle over. I say okay and my husband heads down to the parking lot... Remember it is about 11 pm on a Saturday night.A short time later my husband comes back to the room and says that Shawn knows whats wrong and they are going to Toytechs to repair the car. Oh and by the way he did not arrive on a bicycle but drove up on his motorcycle. Too funnyMaybe 30 minutes later my husband returned with the car working perfectly. Shawn had the part needed to fix it right there in his shop.My daughter moved to kcmo and lives near the plaza but she drives to Toytechs in Liberty MO to get all of her car work done.Just recently my Toyota Prius hybrid battery went bad and it was cheaper for me to have it tolled from Greenfield MO than to get it fixed in nearby Springfield, MO. Not to mention that I only really trust Shawn who is honest, fair and my hero.Thank you Shawn. And if you need the best mechanic in the KC metro area you should go see Shawn at TOYTECHS

Their service is professional, timely, done with manufacturer parts, but without all the dealer overhead labor charges. They charge a very fair price for their work, and go out of their way to do things right, only fixing what needs to be fixed. They dont do any extra expensive jobs that you really dont need.I have now been back for a couple minor repairs, and they took care of them, doing everything you would expect, from people with great customer service. The good news: my 1997 Camry just turned over 400,000 miles on Sep 14. Absolutely awful - Id give 0 stars if possible. I had a horrible experience at Toytechs! I paid this place a $65 fee to diagnose my cooling problem plus another $800 for unneeded parts only to have them not even fix the overheating problem. See they didnt just want to fix what needed repair they insisted upon replacing my entire cooling system to the tune of $2000! I said no way and had them fix only what was causing the overheating but they replaced a functioning radiator not the defective water pump. I got a call the idiot owner Sean told me they fixed it by replacing the radiator but then they took the vehicle for a test drive and the van started to blow steam out of the exhaust pipe indicating a head gasket repair was needed. They also said the motor would not start because it was hydrolocked and would be needing extensive motor repairs. Keep in mind I drove this vehicle into the shop in good running condition! When I questioned the repair, I was met with an extremely unprofessional, adversarial attitude - I was cursed at and threatened repeatedly. I was skeptical of anything Toytechs said after all this, so I figured Id cut my losses and I had the van towed to another repair facility. They replaced the water pump (which fixed the overheating problem) and temperature sensor switch and the van was back to normal again. No the motor was not hydro-locked and it did not need a head gasket nor a radiator, it only needed a water pump. I dont know what they were talking about, but had I authorized a repair it would have cost thousands of dollars unnecessarily. Stay away!

We had recently purchased a car off of Craigslist. Based off of driving the car for 3 days, I could tell that the car intermittently would struggle if started multiple times in a short time period and the A/C was selective on when it wanted to work. Unfortunately, I was anticipating some repairs in our near future. After ToyTechs looked at the car, I received a call from Amanda, the front desk manager. She said they couldn’t find anything wrong with the starter, but they did find an issue where the alternator was only pushing 80%. The CarFax told us that the alternator and battery had been replaced just over 10k miles ago, so the notion that it was the alternator was a bit surprising. Keep in mind that the car would continue running after it started and there were no issues with the battery not having a charge. It did not make sense to me that the answer was the alternator… and again it was the actual “starting” that was the problem. Amanda and I discussed my concerns and she said that in speaking with Shawn, the mechanic, he felt like the alternator was most likely the problem, especially since the alternator was an off brand. We ended the conversation with the summary that they were the experts and that’s why I was paying them so if they thought it was the alternator, then I would trust them. The alternator was replaced at $525 for parts and labor. Less than 1 week later, I was out running errands and the car wouldn’t start up. I had to have the car towed($80) as it would not start. We used Lucky’s Tow who were wonderful BTW. We had it taken back to ToyTechs where I was then told it was the starter after all. I took the car back to ToyTechs partly because they knew the history but also to see how they would respond and if they would make things right. I was extremely disappointed. When I went to pick up the vehicle (another $450) I spoke with Shawn. While he was very nice and apologetic, he stated that they couldn’t get the starter issue to reproduce and as such, they went with what they assumed must be the alternator. I’m not sure I fully understand the idea of if it’s not broke don’t fix it given that I told them the alternator was recently replaced and I told them something WAS broken yet they didn’t fix the broken part :+)PS. They didn’t fix the A/C issue either… they said they assumed it had a leak as they could see dye in the lines so they recharged it, but that didn’t fix the issue. It ended up being a relay switch (had to Google for that answer :+)I think in the end they either aren’t listening to their clients, they aren’t as competent as they once were, they feel they have built a large enough client base that they no longer care about client satisfaction… or I just got unlucky. As I mentioned to Shawn, from my perspective, it very much felt like a money grab – replace the alternator @$525 then replace the starter @450. I understand we are all human and we all make mistakes. However, I would never expect a client to pay for a mistake I made. Had Shawn offered to waive his labor charge on the alternator replacement that should not have happened or even covered the tow charge to get the car back to his shop, I would have been a little more understanding. Offering me a 10% discount on the starter repair is not what I would consider taking responsibility for his mistake.Obviously others have had a great experience with ToyTechs. Unfortunately, we were not one of those and it was a costly mistake on our part as we still have several cars that will need maintenance and we have not found a mechanic we can trust. If I was basing my rating on the service received being successful, I would give a 1 Star. However, there is always a chance that this was not Shawn’s fault and we got unlucky on both issues needing repaired. He did try, it just didn’t work out.

**UPDATE** SHAWN THE OWNER CALLED ME AND WE HAD A LONG CONVERSATION ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH TOYTECHS AND HE MADE IT VERY CLEAR THAT HE WANTS TO MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN AND TO MAKE RIGHT WITH ME. BY THE TONE OF HIS VOICE, HE WAS OBVIOUSLY UPSET THAT THIS HAPPENED AND REASSURED ME THAT THIS IS NOT THE WAY HE DOES BUSINESS. SHAWN STATED THAT HE LOST SLEEP OVER THIS AND HE SEEMS GENUINE IN HIS BUSINESS PRACTICES. MY REVIEW BELOW IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME BUT I HONESTLY BELIEVE SHAWN THAT THIS WAS A MURPHYS LAW INCIDENT. I KNOW THAT $HIT HAPPENS.THANK YOU SHAWN FOR GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO REACH OUT TO ME AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. I APPRECIATE BUSINESS OWNERS THAT TRULY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.Based on the many great reviews this shop has, I felt pretty good about taking my car here for service. My car notified me that I needed to have my brakes serviced. I also knew it was time to have my tires rotated. I called and spoke with Amanda and she got me scheduled quickly. They checked my car out and told me it needed rear brake pads (the light had just come on a week before, the car is equip with a sensor to tell you its time to change your pads as not to damage the rotors). They also told me they needed to change the rotors as well because on these cars, its standard procedure.I was a little iffy on this but took their word for it. I left my car with them to have my brakes done and have my wheels/tires rotated and balanced. I picked my car up later that day and noticed the brakes were squealing and loudly. My spouse told me to ride it out for a week or so and see if it goes away since sometimes it takes a little bit for the brakes to seat themselves with new rotors, so I did. A week went by and my brakes only got louder. I called Amanda back, let her know what was going on and she went ahead and told me to bring it back in so they could check it out. The next day I took my car back to them and the owner Shawn told me there was a spring that wasnt installed correctly the first time and they fixed it. I waited for about an hour to have this done and I was on my way. In the midst of all this, I noticed the same vibration at 65 MPH I had prior to the car ever being serviced. I looked at my wheels and I noticed the front left wheel (had some curb rash I knew about prior) hadnt been rotated which would explain the vibration I still had. So they charged me for rotate and balance but didnt do the work. Again I called Amanda and told her what I was experiencing and she told me to bring the car back so they could check it out. She also stated they could go back and look at their camera footage to see if the tech actually did the work. I took my car back and was told that my front left wheel lug nut was seized on the stud and that is why they didnt rotate my tires. And that is why they didnt rotate my tires? Why didnt they tell me in the beginning instead of charging me for the service and never advising me of the problem? Then come back and tell me that if they try any harder, the stud will break and cause damage to the rotor and hub. They told me I needed to have the hub replaced to get this resolved. They ordered the part and told me it was going to cost me another $350. Mind you, I originally went in for brake service and was quoted $200 for new rear pads. I ended up paying over $400 for the brake service that wasnt done right and my tires to be rotated which never happened. I went ahead and told them I would bring my car back the following Monday to have this lug nut issue repaired (Another $350) This was on a Thursday and I was scheduled to bring it in the following Monday so they could order the new hub. Over the weekend my spouse and I decided to attempt to get the lug nuts off of this front left wheel just to see if this was something we could resolve on our own, regardless the work was going to have to be done anyway if we tried or not. With very little effort, we were able to get all 4 lugs off without any fight. We rotated the tires ourselves and I am disappointed to say the least.
