A great and pleasant experience! Went in this morning for a late breakfast to go, and the staff were simply lovely (breakfast was good too, of course). Made my day!
The bagels are good, but they put way too much cream cheese spread on them. I asked for light cream cheese and it was still too much. I had to scrape most of it off. If I go there again I will get the cream cheese on the side. If you like a ton of cream cheese you would probably love it, but I prefer to be able to taste the flavor of my bagel with just a little cream cheese to add a bit of flavor. The coffee is pretty good though. Nice and strong. Good flavor too.
Love Meshuggah! We dont live in KC anymore, but when we visit we try to come by. We used the curbside ordering this time. They had our food out fast. They did forget my coffee but that was easily corrected.
The bagels might be good. This place doesnt seem to understand the concept of supply and demand. They are always short staffed and run out of bagels. If you see a line just move on or youll be here forever. Today it is mothers day and Sunday. They have 2 people working as slow as humanly possible. They should change the name to Messhugah Slow Bagels. Because this place is CRAZY SLOW!
Bagels are the best but website it terrible.Order didnt show up inside and they were out of what I ordered but didnt say on the site.I thought they might toast and butter it for me to make up for the confusion but of course they wanted to charge more money.
I prefer the vibe of the Westport location - this one is a bit kitschy - but the bagels are just as amazing. The salmon schmear is incredible.
I got 2 plain bagles; 1 with cream cheese the other with butter, and a Dr. Browns since 1869 cream soda (which might I add was absolutely fantastic, the only thing that could have made it better was if it was in a glass bottle). Bagles were good, the 1 with cream cheese had a little too much on it for my liking but its always better to have a bit to much of something than not enough. Imo they could have used 1 more employee to help, being that there was only 1 person working but be that as it may the girl that was there did a wonderful job. There was a line of about 6 or 7 people when I got there and just as many when I was leaving and she never skipped a beat, helping everybody one at a time in a quick and orderly manner and sent us on our way. If Im ever in the area again Ill definitely pop in once more.
Awesome bagels, as always! My wife brought one to work one morning a long time ago and all of the ladies in her office wanted one. They now take turns swinging by here and ordering bagels for breakfast every Friday for all of them! Love them bagels!
Been several times and love their bagels and cream cheeses. They have more sweet cream cheeses to offer for their mostly savory bagels. My favorite though is the jalapeño cream cheese in the bagel with the onion in the center. Update 12/6 and still very friendly and still sell quality food. I just wished they cooked my bagel longer.
My son and I stopped by for the first time yesterday and we are SO HAPPY that we did! I haven’t had a REAL, GOOD New York Bagel in years! Grocery store bagels don’t even come close. The smell alone as you walk in is delicious, warm and full of nostalgia. The men behind the counter were run and friendly and my teenage son is already planning to take a date there. We will be back... REGULARLY. The bagels are already half gone, are delicious and were NOT overpriced. Yummmm. Is it lunchtime yet? Time for another bagel!
Just what the bagel doctor ordered. Delicious.
I really miss this place. Some of the best food you can get in the kc area. Get an everything with whitefish and onions and capers. I could eat like 4
Hands down the best bagels in KC and their house made schmears are so good. One of our favorite breakfast places!
The best Bagels in KC! Fresh, just like New York bagels! Everyone needs to experience these bagels!Schmears so light fluffy and flavorful!!!!
Thought this place was just okay for the price. Couldnt believe it...our bill was almost $30 for two bagel sandwiches, mainly because they charge extra for everyyyyything, including if you want a couple slices of red onion or a few capers on your sandwich. And for the price, we werent wowed at all. It wasnt anything to write home about and as others have mentioned, the bagels are served room temperature unless you specify otherwise. We simply werent impressed enough to want to go back.
They dont Kwon how to make a bagels with lox, toast bagels first, no onion and low cream cheese.Costumer services is poor and lady behind the counter is rude.Have a nerve to nasty attitude, to top it my bagel sucked .It was not kosher !!!
Ordered a dozen bagels on 04 Apr 19 - 6 Sesame Seed, 6 Cinnamon Raisin. Handed a closed bag as I paid for them. Got home and found that 4 of the 6 Sesame Seed looked like the photo below. Very disappointed. Doubtful if I will return. I have had their bagels before and they were very good, but this time - not so much.
Open at 8am and out of pepper jack cheese by 9am. Not a great way to start my Saturday morning
Really great bagels and bialys.
Great food and even better service. Would recommend that everyone tries the food.
I felt sorry for the employee that was by himself. You could not have curbside because you had no one to deliver it! The bagels are delicious but not good business owners leaving your employee by himself. I wanted to help him. No way you could social distance because you had to go in. This occurred on a Sunday.
As a NEW YORKer I ABSOLUTELY love this place. Have visited two stores thus far. True taste of home in a boiled bagel, just like its supposed to be! Wish they could serve breakfast sandwiches like a NY delicatessen would. Id be there each and every day for my breakfast, I promise. Now if someone would bake NY style Kaiser rolls and REAL Italian bread.(hint)
Wonderful bagels super fresh just wish we could sit down and eat there. Its currently carry out only
Delicious! I got the smoked salmon with garlic herb cream cheese. The bagels are big, and delicious! We were able to add tomatoes, onion, and capers as well. Higher quality than Einsteins (we went here because einsteins is closed). We will definitely be back.
Delicious bagels, nice staff
Great place go early if you want plain or fruity bagels. The smoked salmon on garlic with scallion cream cheese is killer.
Always good fresh bagels. Service is quick and friendly.
Super delicious and friendly service!
Service is always top notch and you simply can’t beat the boiled bagels! All flavors are fantastic but the everything is my favorite.
Great as usual! Will be back soon
This place is awesome!I am from Missouri but lived in NYC for seven years and married a New Yorker. When we came back to Missouri (well, I came back and she came with me) we spent years in the bagel wilderness. Einstein came as close as we could find but it still wasnt the same and then they closed the closest one to us (which wasnt really that close anyway). We resolved that we would just have to enjoy a good bagel only when we went back East. And then, the clouds parted and a shaft of light came down and led us into the promised land (of bagels). The bagels are perfect, crisp on the exterior, soft inside. And they taste just like they should. They are so good, we usually just get plain. When they taste right, you dont need to gum up the works with extra flavors (although my wife does love the cinnamon crunch bagels they have for a limited time). The Nova Lox is my special favorite. The white fish smear is great, too.If I stop on the way in from work, I have to sneak it in because everyone at work wants them, too (but we do sometimes bring in for everyone).Meshuggah is excellent and we stop at least once (usually two or three times) a week.
Great little place esp if youre looking to shop small or support an independent and local business. I think the prices are totally fair for what youre getting! Maybe my standard is different bc I was raised on the East Coast and this is what I expect from a bagel shop? When I went in the first time the guy working (I forget his name, it was at the Liberty branch) was so kind and patient while I had a lot of questions about flavors and bagels. He was very enthusiastic and welcoming. The bagels themselves were great too, not too salty or gummy or stiff. The bialy was soft and it was good to try something different. I wasnt sure Id like the salmon cream cheese and he gave me a sample. I like it though Ill stick with plain schmear. Hope they can weather this pandemic storm and will still be around, as Ill be back!
Amazing bagels and had some great conversations with the staff. If you have the coin they have the bagels. And dont forget the spread. Their spread is amazing and they have different selections through the year.
I had heard the bagels were suppose to be amazing....I was kinda disappointed. Was expecting more. I like price chopper bagels better ( old pic in Liberty mo). I had been told they were true NY bagels. Maybe I just dont like NY bagels. Or maybe they had a bad day.
If you love bagels you gots go here!! This is our favorite bagel place!! The use a lot of cream cheese so if you dont a lot of spread make sure you tell them go easy on the spread. They have hot and cold coffee and their sit down area is simple and cute!
Wow! Pastrami encrusted salmon filet says it all!
Drove 20 minutes this morning to surprise my daughter, checked accepted forms of payment before we arrived, looked around for accepted forms of payment when we arrived ordered our food and then was told they would not accept my cash for our bill. Absolutely unacceptable that you waste people’s time, and are in violation of the treasury departments law that you must have posted that you will not accept certain forms of cash before the debt is incurred by the customer to inform them that you will not accept certain denominations. I so wanted to enjoy having you in Northern Kansas City, but will never be back and will tell everyone I know to avoid you. Thanks for waisting our time.Edit after response:My review is not a “trashing” as you state but an honest “review” of my experience at your establishment. What I had in my wallet was $8.00 in 1 dollar bills and my company credit card, that is to be used for company business. I had 2 $100.00 bills on me as well. You are well within your right to accept what ever denominations of cash you wish to accept as a business owner, it would be nice as a courtesy to your guests that you post that somewhere so that they know(as well as what is required of businesses by the treasury department). Also you only get one chance at a first impression when trying to get people to shift their buying habits. New York style bagels are not a mainstream decision for most people so making the choice to spend some of your income and take a chance on supporting a local business is a big decision, and often times a good one because they generally care about their customers experience more than the chains, just not the case here. I appreciate that you took the time to respond, but that still doesn’t change what happened or the content of my original post. I did my due diligence before coming to be prepared to have a good experience at a locally owned business, providing that experience was on you . . . Not me. When I choose to spend my money it is based on product ( I was excited to try) the property (brand new building), and the experience...that is what your selling, not just bagels and cream cheese.
This is my favorite bagel place in kansas city. Their bagels are always fresh, chewy on the inside and crusty on the outside. Their schemers, cream cheese spreads, are tasty and creative. Their prices are reasonable and the service has always been very polite and professional. I would highly recommend visiting this business.
Best New York style bagels in the Midwest. People here just dont know how to make a good bagel. Friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere. Its worth going around the bridge construction! We both had the smoked turkey bagel sandwich and it was out of this world! A must for true bagel lovers!!! We will be back!
Nice decor and friendly staff. Good variety with some good toppings to make a bagel snack. One lament is no blueberry bagels but they have a blueberry topping. No St. Louis bread cut! Get with the progressive era!
The place in Liberty is easy to get to and so cute. The gentleman who helped me was very nice and helpful, bit then he had me try the garlic and dill smear. Oh damn in love had to buy some. This could be a habit. The beagals are very wonderful.
What a wonderful place, easily the best water bagel shop in town. Their bagels strike a perfect balance between chewy and cake like. I like mine with lox and all of the veggies on a garlic bagel with a garlic schmear.
Great bagels. Nice guy working there. very friendly.
If youre interested in going to a delicious bagel shop, this is perfect. Nothing Ive had has been anything short of amazing! Highly recommend this spot. Homey inside with perfect decor. On the more cozy side as far as seating goes, but worth it!
Best bagels in town! Very fresh food and a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend the everything with everything schmear. The cinnamon sugar schmear is a great one for kids and adults. So good on any bagel!
My husband and I come in every Tuesday morning. Amazing food, wonderful staff and just all around an amazing place! Love love love it! You can definitely see the love, care and pride that the owners and the staff put into making the food.
The bagels and schmear were amazing!!! I had the rye bagel with the dirty martini spread! Wish we had one closer to home.
Holy cow, SO EXPENSIVE. We spent $30 on what could have been $8 at Panera and likely would have tasted better.
Tried this place out last week and was a little nervous because I havent seen much traffic in and out, but was surprised with a fresh delicious breakfast. The lemon poppy seed cream cheese was the best thing I have ever tasted!! I only wish they warmed or toasted the bagel a little before serving it. Other than that, this place is awesome and delicious!
Best bagles in town
The food is excellent, and the bagels are some of the best in the city. If you are getting more than just bagels, expect to have a more expensive breakfast for the area. I recommend, but dont think I will be driving 25 minutes each direction and paying for more than bagels very often.
Great bagels!
Had the smoked lox on an onion bagel, plain cream cheese, onions, and capers. Cold brew coffee to drink. Lox was very tasty, and the best capers I’ve ever had. I would of preferred a plate for my dine in option...but a satisfying breakfast nonetheless.
We love this place! Everything is amazing and so fresh. I love the ham sandwich. so good!
There were two things I found here that keep me going back. I love the Pesto Parmesan sandwich in Liberty MO. Get this ham based bagel sandwich with Pepper Jack and deli mustard on the Bialy; damn, now I want one. Ill tell you about rye bagels some day.
I dont know if Ill ever be able to eat bagels anywhere else...these were phenomenal! The cream cheese was the freshest Ive ever had and the salted bagel was to die for. We cant wait to go back!
Dont walk - RUN to the nearest location this month to get their December special. French toast bagel. Yes, French toast bagel! The smell when you toast it is just amazing. Then the taste. So good. Really. Their other bagels are awesome - love the texture and taste of the whole wheat. Those were the kiddos fav until . . yes, the French toast bagel! Will have to get more to freeze for other months.
I loved it. It was amazing for my first time going, i will definitely be going back
Best bagels in town, hands down. Great spreads too. Cant go wrong here.
Quaint little bagel place. Authentic NY style bagels. Not much else on the menu at all. No sandwiches, not open for dinner. Everything bagel with whitefish salad and capers was great, tho. Pricey for what you get but you can tell the quality is there
Ive eaten here a couple of times and I am unimpressed. I prefer soft bagels, and these are not soft at all. They do have a good selection of schmears.
So so yum!! Staff is so sweet and caring. Great options for sweet or salty bagels!!
The last time I had bagels this authentic and tasty, I dragged a dozen back on the flight home from New York. I brought home a dozen bagels -- four each of garlic, onion and everything -- and some garlic and herb/garlic and rosemary shmears. Absolutely fantastic -- the right blend of crispy, chewy and soft. My one wish would be for the addition of egg bagels to the menu, but short of a flight back to NYC, these will absolutely do. So, so good...
The Meshuggah Bagels in Liberty, MO is quite quaint. The interior is warm and inviting. The bagels and house schmears are delicious (my favorite is the whole wheat bagel with the rosemary garlic spread). Also, the bottled iced coffee was really smooth. Overall, I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. Such a good addition to Liberty!
I got six Bagels to go, two poppy seed, two plain and two cinnamon raisin. The bagels are good they have no preservatives its a really nice place. The only thing I would say that they could use a little bit more variety, thats why Im giving it a four-star rating. Also they should have that much more expensive coffee menu and it would be more attractive.
Excellent food, nice people working there. They dont have gluten-free yet, but its coming, according to the employees there. Cant wait, its nice when the whole family can eat at one place.
Smoked Nova on everything with all the veg. Do it, eat it, love it!
Seriously one of my favorite places for breakfast. I love all the fish bagel sanwiches. My kids love the blueberry ones as well. If I am going for a sweeter bagel then I love the Oreo. Everything there is great and staff is super friendly.
Since visiting, Ive told everyone I can how wonderful the bagels are and how great the atmosphere is. With the numerous options to top the bagel, it can be a meal or a snack. The best bagels in KC. Ill be frequenting Meshuggah!
Simply the best. Everything with garlic dill schmear, onion and capers. *sigh* how I miss you. Chewy top, crispy bottom, oh no Im go cry with longing.
Seriously the best bagels Ive ever had! The Rye bagel is to die for and the garlic bagel is a close (and very garlicky) second!
I was curious, and stopped in for a Saturday morning snack. The bagels were softer and better than I expected, and the cinnamon schmear was amazing! I will definitely be back again.
Amazingly fresh bagel, best local bagel I have had!
Best bagels I have found since I moved here. Definitely cant wait to go back.
Best. Bagels. Ever!!!! I grew up in New York and these are better than the ones I had on the East Coast!!! Very extensive menu. If you are wanting a specific kind, get there early!! Certain varieties are a hot commodity. The tie dye bagels with birthday cake schmear were to die for and so much fun!! Im so happy to have this charming store near my house. The owners and staff are nailing it!!! 😀
O M G . . . If you in the liberty area you have to get a bagel. . Amazing. .
Yummy bagels with great variety. Very pleasant people.
My family and I went for the first time this morning. The bagels were delicious and everyone loved it.
I do not reccomend.
Delicious bagels. Reminds me of a bagel shop from home in New Jersey. Just wish they would make breakfast sandwiches like a bacon or pork roll egg and cheese then Id be in heaven
Great New York style bagels and some mid western staples. From locks to peanut butter and jelly schmears they take their craft seriously. You dont have to be jewish to like this place. Give them a Try. Youll be happy all day.Shalom!
Went to new location in Liberty Sunday mid morning. Store is in a strip style mall. Decor just like original 39th st store. You will be blasted by the cold outside air sitting near the front entrance. Store is small and reminds me more of an Icecream shop. Ordered the Nova Lox with Smoked Salmon plain CC on Everything begal. Begal and lox were good. Meshuhgah makes these in a sandwich style which is hard to eat. I would rather have them open faced like Einsteins. Very expensive for what you get. 25$ for two, no drinks and tip. Service was friendly and good.
Pricey. Although the bagel I received tasted great, it, as well as a bottled juice were too expensive. The place is also lacking the ambiance of a bakery; no ovens working, no smells. Just two young employees talking to each other.
So happy to find authentic NY bagels!! As a NY transplant, this has made me feel at home!
They have a great variety of bagels and cream cheese. The capability to have sweet or salty is always a plus for me. I always get excited about what I am going to get next when I come to Meshuggah Bagels.
Great food and atmosphere helpful friendly staff.
Love their bagels . A bit over priced, if you get a sandwich you get nothing else with it and its over 10 dollars so I dont go as often as I did before. I was also turned off by the disrespectful responses towards other peoples ratings on their site . Being rude to those who left a review makes for bad business.
This place is amazing. My child is super picky and he ate the WHOLE bagel and continued to say how much he liked it.
The best bagel that I have ever eaten. Terrific Schmear choices.
Great bagels and friendly service! My favorite is the Pastrami smoked salmon on a sesame seed bagel with the works!
Finally good bagels and amazing whitefish! Finally KC has a good spot to enjoy real bagels.
