Really an awesome store for art supplies. They have almost everything that one may for an art project.Thete are two floors of pact shelves in several isles. I have walked by the store many times but had not come in before today.I came in today and was absolutely impressed by everything they have. Next time I must bring my grandsons and let them wander around and discover.They also have funny cards on the main floor. Here they have paints, brushes, pencils, book, beads and whatever else necessary for making art.Downstairs, they have canvasses, frames, paper and more.Staff very friendly and willing to help. Definitely a great place for young and old, artist or not.

I attended an image transfer workshop at DeSerres and loved it! The session was very well laid out, with supplies for everyone. The activity was creative yet obtainable within the the time period. Although the store is located on Broadway and Granville, parking was fine in the back alley, about half a block away. It was pay, but still reasonable for the area. I will definitely attend other workshops as they come up.
So sad to see this location closing soon due to the Skytrain acquisition... There are a lot of products here that are waiting to be cleared out - staff is very friendly at helping you finding what you need when everything is being organized for the closing. Just wished that theres discounts to help clear the store instead of shipping them to other locations...
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Huge selection of quality professional products and a variety of mediums. Well worth the drive from the valley. Excellent selection of watercolor papers and other paper medium.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful except the girl named Bal by the cashier. She can’t even say hi and thank you to the customers and has an attitude towards everyone. If you don’t want to talk to people, maybe you shouldn’t be working in a place that requires meeting so many customers in person.

Great place to shop on Brodway for arts supplies, tools and equipment. Very helpful staff and a large selection of products at a wide range of prices (afordable entry level as well as higher end products). Makes it a great place to shop for all levels of artistic abilities.Update!!!: The store is closing in early March of 2020 so make sure to visit before then for great deals on all products in store!
Took my daughter here to shop for her friends 11th birthday present. The store has a lot of neat products to look through, the staff is friendly. My daughter found what she was looking for.
Helpful staff, they are not in your face but knowledgeable if you have a question. Prices are fair. Lots of good stock, you can usually find what you need. They have some great clearance deals sometimes too.
Amazing selection of paints, paintbrushes, sculpting supplies, pencils, pastels and every and any other art tool and material you can think of. This place is an artists paradise. Also a great place to buy gifts for children and adults alike - this place has wonderful sets for watercolour, oil and acrylic painting, calligraphy and a valiety of crafts.

One of my favorite art supply stores in Vancouver. Its just more laid back than others, more helpful and cheerful staff than the competition I shall not name, prices tend to be a bit lower also.
Went there and made last minute shopping for about 140$. The shop was closing so we were the last customers. When we got out we found out that the employer made a mistake in the receipt and she put twice the quantity for an item we bought. We returned to claim the difference and the woman working there said that they were closed. But we said to her that she made a mistake. She answered us in an extremely ironical way that she does us a favor cause they are closed and that she could bring us the next day. Conclusion; when YOU make a mistake you have to apologize or at least be kind. It was not OUR fault.And a last thing, why so overpriced? When we saw the final cost we just ask the girl working there very kind if she was sure. And her answer was that- AM I SURE?!Definitely not recommend. Nice things but i hate rude people.
Great selection of all the art and crafting supplied you didnt know you needed. Knowledgeable staff to help you with why you might need it and the cool things you can do with it once you have it. Serriously though, there as a wide selection of good quality art supplies be it for painting, drawing, or just a frame for you latest creation. Lots of goodies to write with and even a few toys.

DeSerres its my favorite art supplies store. Both locations are always well stocked. I go to this one more frequently and every single time Ive get a lot of inspiration to go and make stuff! It is full with fine art materials, but also crafts and hundreds of good toys for adults and kids. Also I found that they are more likely to have less main stream craft supplies like linocut tools and others. I just love it!❤
This store is awesome. I couldnt find some rare painting pen so I went there and got it for very good price. All you need for art is there.

If youre an artistic person this shop need to be in your to-do list. You can find so many quality items! The only down side in my experience was the staff person, who was on his phone when I needed an information. But its a shop where i like to go ocer and over again!
Excellent art supply store with knowledgeable staff and great selection. Good workshops and presentation, though workshops are held in an open area where participants and shoppers distract each other.

Hmmm, what to say. The store manager would not look at me when she was speaking to the floor staff member who was doing her best to lend aid in products I was searching for. It happened not just once, but both times the new staff member asked for her assistance. It just felt odd.
Best place to get art supplies for a reasonable price in the city. You can score some great canvases on sale sometimes! Ordering from them online, however, can be a bit of a pain because of the courier.

I would give this a higher rating if the store manager was competent and polite. As a former employee, long time shopper, and Zone member, I appreciate Deserres for carrying much of what I need, having knowledgable staff, and reasonable price points. However, since the arrival of a new store manager, the customer service Im used to seeing has declined and I feel completely unwelcome as a customer. The manager spends time glaring at me, responds rudely to my questions, and treats me with contempt while I spend hundreds. Most recently, I was asked if I needed help paying for the items I was holding while consulting my shopping list and an empty tube of paint I brought in to pigment match. As a regular customer, I dont appreciate the manager treating me poorly or like a potential thief. If it werent for the framing staff that take care of me with my canvas orders, I would happily go to Opus or order online from another company.

This store carries lots of art supplies where you can locate things that you are looking for easily. The hold art classes too. They have a point card that you can use it for your purchases.

Helpful staff can give you some advice on your project (product knowledge depends on the persons area of expertise). Prices are competetive. There is a studio area for lessons and also a basement level. Meter parking and transit accessible.

This location has a much less friendly vibe than Grandview. At Grandview the staff literally go above and beyond to schedule same day art classes for me when I want to try my hand at something or allow me to try out products before purchasing, but at Broadway the vibe is that as a customer I am a nuisance. They werent rude but definitely short.
The staff are always helpful here and I find myself thinking of this store first whenever I need Art supplies. Given they dont have as many stores as the larger retail giants I think that says a lot about their offering and staff.

Good selection for modelling materials for all the architecture/ landscape architecture students out there. Staff are super helpful and theres a discount for post-secondary students.
I go there every couple of months. Wanted to hang a wall canvas and needed help with the how to go about it. The staff are ever so helpful with lots of suggestions.

I always have the best experiences at de Serres. The staff are knowledgeable and very, very sweet. My son is an avid artist and loves the variety and completeness of the inventory. I have never had a bad time at this store and enjoy going there.
