My son’s car broke down as he was on his way to the first day at his new job. The tow truck driver recommended R & S even though the car was initially going to another shop. It took R & S five days to diagnose and replace a lower radiator hose (about a $10 hose) at a charge of $311 (my son is new to town, living on his own, and had $326 to his name with another week until payday). Less than one hour after my son picked up the “fixed” car on a Friday, it broke down again. We called R & S after having the car towed to a shop near the breakdown and paying for a second diagnosis. The second shop said the head gasket was cracked and HCs had leaked into the coolant. When R & S was contacted, they claimed that the other shop was probably trying to stiff us and agreed to look at it again. We had to arrange for another tow back to their shop (the third tow for the car in less than a week). Lo and behold, the second shop was correct. R & S initially misdiagnosed the car – even with a ‘test drive’ after replacing the radiator hose, they failed to notice the HCs in the coolant. Not only did R & S refuse to refund any of the money my son paid to them for the “repair” work, they also did not offer to pick the car up when it broke down right after my son left their shop (they have towing services on site!). Additionally, there was no offer for a loaner car during the five days my son had no transportation to his new job, even though the R & S website says loaners are available. Because of this, the shoddy work cost my son $311, and we (his parents) are out $200 for a second diagnosis and a third tow. R & S may be good to their loyal customers, but I would avoid this sham shop at all costs if you are a new customer. They had no interest in treating my son fairly, and they obviously don’t care that he lost over $300 with nothing to show for it other than a still-broken car.

I found myself in a bit of a pickle this week when I was driving down in Burnsville and ran over a large metal stake that had fallen on the highway. Managed to make it to a gas station, found that my car was pouring out gas, and was frantically looking for an affordable tow service and repair place nearer to my home in Saint Paul. I chose R&S because of their reviews, and boy, I was not disappointed. When I first called I spoke to Jeff who was extremely understanding and sympathetic. They were able to tow my car to their shop at a very affordable rate, were very good at communicating what was going on with my vehicle, offered me a free loaner car, and the over all bill was extremely reasonable for the damage that was done (punctured fuel tank). They are super flexible and extremely helpful. Its hard to find a car repair place that is trustworthy and does good work. Its too bad I discovered them because of this incident, but I will definitely be a repeat customer in the future. Great service!

I recently noticed a decline in my trusty cars performance and was trying to decide if I should put more money into it or get a new vehicle.Im so happy I decided to take it to R&S Automotive!I interacted with Rick the most. Hes knowledgeable, trustworthy, and fair. Ive had my car serviced at many different places and experienced service people and technicians who were condescending toward me because I didnt know a lot about cars. I NEVER felt that way working with Rick. He really listened to everything I had to say and gave me fair, honest opinions/recommendations when I asked for them.R&S gave me a loaner car while they were working on my vehicle, which worked out very well. My husband and I have taken our cars here multiple times. I have a Nissan, he has a Toyota. They dont always get your car looked at quickly, but once they do, the work is done quickly. Their prices are as reasonable as repair prices can be, and once my total bill actually ended up being less than they quoted me! They also have free loaner cars if you need one.

I recieved a phone call explaining what was found and what can be done to fix it and how much it would cost. I am very pleased with the service I received, I will definitely come for future care on car.....

The entire staff was friendly and helpful from the second they answered the phone entirely though the service. They go above and beyond to help the customer and have patience explaining to those of us who know nothing about cars. I truly feel like these guys do the job for the customer and not for the money they make. They gave me honest advice even if it meant me leaving without spending a dime. I absolutely love the customer service and level of expertise at R & S. I was referred here after I made a several phone calls to different auto shops looking to repair my car. The dealership quoted me at over $5000 and told me my warranty doesnt cover it (extremely rude as well). When I called for a quote at R & S, I spoke with Rick and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to contact my warranty to have them come out and prove to them this was a manufacturer defect. Although he couldnt get them to cover the full cost (only half) it was the time and effort that he put into helping me out that really showed they put their customers first. It took a few days to repair my car but they offered me a loaner car. I would highly recommend this auto shop. I had a positive experience here and I believe this is one of those shops that wont try to cheat you for your hard earned money.

Very reliable and trustworthy. Both of the times that Ive gone there for major fixes, they have looked for other less expensive ways to remedy the problem. They kept me updated on my car throughout the process and waited for my OK before doing anything that might be costly.

Excellent customer service! I was offered a car to use while they worked on mine which is something that previous shops had not offered. My car was broken into and the radio stolen which led to some wires cut that were important, I called Monday morning and had my car back before lunch. If you need a fix I would strongly recommend R&S Auto!

Honest and prompt work is done here at a reasonable price. One can even borrow a loaner car for free while their car is in the shop.

Paid 1000 dollars in labor to have clutch and flywheel replaced when I got it back a week later every synchro was gone and no reverse..... Also my speedometer not working. So i brought it back asking if he could take a look to make sure everything was installed correctly. I told him everything that was not working correctly and left mg car there for him to look at and he had me come back and said your speedometer is not working because you need a new or rebuilt transmission..Next shop I went to in a matter of 5 minutes with my car up on the hoyst knew right away thay the speed sensor was not plugged back into the transmission case. No one wants to figure out my reverse now because it could be so many different things. Thanks to R&S Automotive I have a car with no reverse and have to push into gear. I sell cars for a living for nissan and im not stupid. I got taken advantage of and they talked to me like I didnt know a thing about cars. Why would I need a new transmission when I had absolutely no issues with it before they got it.

Paid for a service and went back to get it fix still under warranty they just keep giving me the round around.smh. they sure did take my 💰 with no problem.Dont get any electrical work done here.After 2 weeks Jeff the R&S owner seen my review and was very conceren about my post.Contacted me and ask what had happen. i explain the situation and he apologized in behalf of his employe not addressing my situation correctly and ask if what could he do to fix the problem and said he would refund me and also stated he tryes to always keep his customers as pleased as he can and would love to continue doing servicing my vehicles and and told him i will. I brought my car in to have a axle put in. After they installed the part it was leaking immediately. So I brought it back with a new seal and they would not put it in for free. It cost me a extra 200.00 for them to fix their mistake. A coworker just had a similar issue with a different part and had to fix it himself to get to work the next day. Worst customer service and terrible mechanical knowledge. They do not even deserve one star. I would rather bring my car to walmart than trust these people again.
