I’ve always considered this store a great resource for last minute materials. It’s a little more expensive but very convenient. That is until a pandemic where some genius comes up with the idea of not allowing anybody but Sci-arc students / alumni to purchase things. That will obviously make everything much safer.I dedicate the next two hours of my life, driving around and trying to park, to the Sci-arc store
Well I went on a Saturday and the website said it was open till 4 and when I got there the door had a sign that its closed on Saturdays. Parking is crazy.
Great selection of art and architectural supplies, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always a great shopping experience.
So I am not a student, not an architect, yet feel this store can provide amply for various customers. They have a majority of architectural supplies, drafting tools, etc. They also carry acrylic paints and various miscellaneous art supplies, even gilding metals and calligraphy sets. The shop is small, yet still has large format printers, with VERY AFFORDABLE prints! I am an artist and not only was their print service personal and delivered well, but receiving a local artist discount truly made my experience great! Thanks guys, Ill definitely be in again :).
Amazing. If you are involved in any kind of art, this place got your back... some items are pricey and others cheap... you just gotta know which.is which....
I get all my project supplies here, dont need to go anywhere else. Give student and teacher discounts and dont need to have coupons or wait for sales.
Convienent...for some.Speaking as an ex-Sci-Arc student I give this store 3 stars. As a general consumer I give it 2 stars. For the most part, this place is open and stays open because of its relation to the school. They bank on knowing that the students have no where else to get their materials and they monopolize Dont get me wrong now, it sells a good amount of product but my problem is the prices and management.Students with Deep Pockets?Because demand is so high, prices can rise and students will still buy their materials there because most students are international or students from out of state. If it truly is a school store, prices need to reflect that also.
Because they have everything I was looking for and the prices are great
They have very good prices for high quality printing. Interesting tools and drafting supplies. They also have Plexiglas, foamcore, and wood.
It is an expensive school for “no good reason”. They are desperate to bring students on board and offer full scholarships to more than half of their students. The other half are from rich Chinese families whom cannot even speak proper English.Their degree is useless in any occasions later in your academic or professional life. They do not get you prepared for the real world as the faculty is clueless, because they have never performed in the real world and have done nothing other than “”””””talking””””””. They bs a lot to prove they know and are completely insecure of being compared with professionals. You will leave this school empty handed, the avant-garde approach which raises the question “can it even be built?” and will be lucky to find a job as a “software operator” for an architecture company the best and start over learning from there.
Cheapest prices, always help you out, and nobody there is a grumpy. That stands for a lot. WE LOVE YOU
Art supplies can be purchased at good prices here. The staff and Frank who runs the place are a great resources.
We love the shop and printmaking facility! Everyone is super friendly, intelligent and helpful... a gem in DTLA
Clean and organized for an art store, but most of their supplies support the architecture industry, and that can be a good thing if youre looking for something specific to that genre.
Great variety. Awesome customer service
I love catching the end of the year student shows here. Some crazy stuff.
They have free scrap foam board here that can be used for anything. Also, great selection of drafting materials
Just okay, their stuffs are over priced. No parking for customers
Very helpful staff and affordable prices.
Great place to find art materials and tools
They sell over priced items and sell discounted products after over jacked up price to studentsTerrible
If you are an artist, this place is like a children playground... all you can dream about, just in one place...
Dont carry a lot of supplies, but they had most of what I was looking for
Good collection..
Discounts for students (at any school) and local creatives.
They had what I needed for my portfolio.
Heaven for architects and artists.
