The owner has had this place for the past 15 years and you can tell that theyre passionate about books. I love this place because they have a lot of used books and their prices are superb. The selection was incredible for such a cute little place. They were very inviting and we had a great conversation. I bought $35 worth of books which should last me a long time. But I cant wait to go back and get some more books to learn Spanish. There is tons of parking nearby and you can browse at the store without anybody harassing you. Theres also a library nearby and a couple of cute cafes.

Found so many good ones Ive been wanting to get. Definitely a hidden gem of a book store. Love digging through the stacks. Sweet dog!

Re(a)d books is awesome. Simply have good deals on used book. The owners are always there, too...relaxed and know a ton about a bunch, or some more eloquently said thing.

When Im in town its one of my favorites spots. Ive gotten some fantastic books at good prices. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

A small used bookstore close to downtown Eagle Rock with a great selection of literary fiction (think William Gass or William T. Vollmann) and mysteries. An array of non-fiction subjects accounts for the other half of the store. The selection has a nice local bent (e.g., lots of Ross Macdonald and Los Angeles histories).The store is overstuffed with books---which can be either charming or frustrating depending on your bent. Books are double-stacked so you often have to move books to see the ones behind a stack. I frequently bumped into faceouts causing them to tumble to the ground.The store is reminiscent of The Battery in Pasadena, another excellent small bookstore in the foothills.

Great deal on books, and very charming. The family that owns it are very sweet and welcoming.

The owner was just fabulous! She has a great collection and is super knowledgeable about the titles in her store. She took a lengthy list from our sons teacher and was able to determine what was best for his age and interests. She found them at super speed and we walked out of there with six classic titles for school plus another just for fun. She has a cozy couch to enjoy perusing with your kiddos and a medium sized friendly pooch named Florence. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic used bookstore. The owner is very nice and helpful. The books are in good and fun order. Priced well. There’s a great coffee place on the corner to enjoy coffee with your new book.

It’s walking distance from my apt. I bought a book titled The Bible for Dummies. Great book. It’s a small place from outside but deep once you go in. It’s addictive! She has MANY kinds of books.

Lovely local indie bookstore! I love everything about this place - the friendly bookseller, the dog in the window, the section on local LA authors, and the crowded shelves. They accept used books and will give you store credit for the books they can sell and donate the ones they cannot sell.

Great place to buy used Read Books, especially their $1 section. But beware selling your own books to them, they literally give you pennies on the dollar!. For example, a $100 art Read Books might only get you $3!

An excellent store, peopled with helpful, pleasant staff. If you like science fiction, fantasy or horror books, this is the place for you. Many UK and other hard-to-get editions available.

Whats not to love? Although they werent able to locate the book I held in advance, another copy was available so crisis was averted. Its a dreamy place to visit or rush through while doing errands. I cant think why I would try and shop anywhere else for books, cards and gifts.

Saw this little shop in Eagle Rock while walking over to Armons for breakfast. Decided to stop in after eating with the kids-and it made their day. They had the entire 2 first series of the Warrior Cat books which my eldest and 3rd were searching for. They also had books that intersted my other 2-kids books and comics. All perused the shelves and found something that they wanted. I need to come alone or with just my daughter, because I saw quite a few things (Harry Potter, Dune series, old comics) that I want for myself, but it would be easier without having to make sure my younger 2 arent accidentally wrecking the place lol. I highly suggest stopping in. They have a ton of books for every age, and can excite any reader-or make u one. Just dont buy the Dune series, I really want that......

A precarious cavern of books, thats what Read Books is. Careful where you step: the floor dips, the aisles are narrow. I almost knocked a stack of books off a shelf on the balcony level onto awaiting shoppers below, whoops!
