I took my shears to be sharpened. At first I thought it was a bit pricey, but now that I used them I think it was worth every penny.They did better than any other place I’ve been to. I’ll definitely be going back

Very clean sanitized spic-n-span store.You think you walked into a museum rather than a store with everything perfectly displayed and neatly arranged.You can also find other items like binoculars, switch-blades, scissors, complete barber/shave kits and a good selection of pepper sprays.This is a family-owned establishment with many years in business so you will get friendly and helpful service here.

This was my 3rd-4th visit to Ross. This is THE place for ANYTHING involved with cutting. Their knife selection is second to none. Knives for chefs, survival, and everything A-Z. Had my Fox Knives Tur (ELMAX) reprofiled here today. They did an amazing job at keeping an even and uniform grind. It almost looks factory and probably would to an untrained eye. And it was only 10 bucks! Highly recommend!

Our experience here was awful. The gentleman we dealt with treated us very rudely and just seemed in a bad mood the entire time.We called a week ago asking about two particular knives. He said it would be in stock the following week. Showed up and only one of two was available. He told us that the version was never made in a fixed blade. My friend went on to say that it was made by so and so. His response? I should know, thats her cousin indicating to the lady who was working with him at the time. After pulling up the Brands page and showing it to him, his demeanor changed from never made to saying its out of production but still in a defensive tone.We ended up walking and not buying from Ross on the way we were treated.

Friendly staff. Huge selection of different items, knives, shaving blades and accessories, flashlights and other stuff.The owner is pretty cool. I had a straight razor that didnt work out for me (even a professional barber made my skin all red with straight razor, Im just too sensitive I guess), so I offered to sell to Ross Cutlery. We ended up trading the razor for some double-edged blades, and the owner threw in a couple extra blades that he said gives him the closest shave ever. Very kind of him!Ive bought an oil sharpening stone and a sharpening guide for my knife, works excellently. Im so glad I can sharpen my kitchen knives when I want now, although the sharpening worked well enough that they just need some honing on the steel.

I stopped by Ross Cutlery because my Andis electric hair outliners blade needed sharpening.I have used them before about 10 yrs ago when I took these same clippers in because I thought it was time to retire them and purchase a new one. The cord had a short which caused the clippers to cut on and off, the outer casing was cracked from being dropped on the ground many times and blades were just not cutting anymore since they were 20years old anyway. The tech took my old clippers and instead of selling me a new one which cost close to $90 ( I bought them in the 90s for $20) he handed me a repair ticket. I came back two days later and picked up my clippers and they looked and sounded like a brand new pair for 1/2 the price. So I was so delighted that I came back. I would recommend them for anything that needs sharpening.

They do have a great choice of hardware... They are located in the perfect spot...they are prices are reasonable and promotions are incredible ... For example, you get 20% off on your birthday - i dont think i would go there on my birthday, neither the owner does but the idea is brilliant :)! Week of my wedding: dropped off my razor on Tuesday to get honed. They called me on Saturday to say it would be ready after 11 on Sunday. Came to get it Sunday at 2 pm: not ready. Done with this place forever. Everything is 40-50% more expensive than other places, anyway.

Great place, if you are looking for a knife for personal use or kitchen cutlery this is the place. Their knowledge and expertise is bar none the best there is. Selection of pocket knives for everyday use or tactical is awesome. This is a family run establishment that has great service.

Amazing service, very friendly people. We needed to get my dads clipper sharpen and cut and the person we talked to was very knowledgeable about what can be done and what should be done. Our blade was slightly chipped when they sent it back to us, but after a quick talk we were able to send it back for a new blade, sharpened and ready.

I knew of this place, but never got the chance to visit. But I needed to get my shears sharpened and happened to be in the neighborhood. Wow! If youre looking for anything with a sharp edge, this place has it in spades! From tailoring shears to hair cutting scissors, from hunting knives to pretty much any knife to ever need in the kitchen, the range of products is impressive. And I dont know how you feel about scissor sharpening, but Im absolutely neurotic. These folks do an amazing job with sharpening, too. Downtown LA is a bit off of my beaten path, but making the swing by was well worth my time and will be worth yours, too

Good selection but too expensive!They have an impressive selection of knives, scissors, clippers, etc. The problem is, they were quite a bit more expensive than a few other shops for the same item. I asked if they would be able to do a little something about the price on a 340$ knife wich usually sells for 275$ in other shops and online, but the owner didnt care and told me to go buy it somewhere else.

Wow! Exceptional service. I was in an out of there in 10 minutes, and was helped immediately as I entered the store, despite it being quite busy.

Ruined my henkels chefs knife. Instead of evening sharpening both sides, they flattened out one side and left the angle on the other. I know some knives have this feature (where one side is flat and the other isnt), but this knife wasnt like that before.Now I have to use it, get it resharpened repeatedly until I can get it even again.

I work in DTLA and always carry my pocket knives for work related tasks. Even the best of them get dull and I love visiting Ross cutlery to have Allen or Richard sharpen my knives. As a knife enthusiast, I notice when someone does a good job on sharpening. These guys know what they are doing and provide the FINEST sharpening around! I trust them with, even, my prized benchmades! (They even oil and clean the knives while theyre at it!)

I brought my grandfathers 1918 Bolo knife that was extremely dull to Ross. They got it so sharp its ready for duty again! I couldnt be more satisfied.

Eddie is a very rude and disrespectful representative of this company, Ive been going to ross for more than 20 years and have never been treated so unprofessionally. Be cautious when you pay in advance, they will deny your payment when its time to pick up your goods.

Do not come here for sharpening or honing. Ive heard that new people are here, and they dont know what theyre doing, so I should ask the owner Richard to do the sharpening. I went in, found him, got my blade back in a week and it was horrible. Edge was very uneven, there were small chips in a few places, and I think it was more dull than before. Never coming back here.

Id give it zero.... They returned the wrong shears to me after sharpening and claimed the newer cheaper ones were mine. Ive had my sheers since the 80s and not only were they great shears, they have sentimental value. Im a clothing designer and those shears have been through everything with me. Im so sad. When I came back to the store withing 15 minutes of pick up, one of the owners was so rude to me, like I was the crazy one ! I even had images of my shears with a different wear pattern on the nut and also showing no trade mark on the blades in addition to not being chrome which the wrong ones are. He didnt care. He wouldnt even look at the images. The ticket I was given was wrong too ! It said Verbos and Brazil on it. My shears were Wiss and Belding Cortecelli...I was near tears when I left. Im returning the wrong ones Weds. Every time I look at them Im sad and then angry.

This review is only for folders, tactical knives and fixed blades. They have the largest selection of knives Ive seen in LA County. Huge selection of Protech, Microtech, Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, Cold Steel, Kershaw, Al Mar Knives and Gerber. However, this is not the place for custom Knives only production models. Most knives are cheap and some are cheaper than internet stores. I was disappointed with the sharpening service.

Omg there sharpening sucks if your a PROFESSIONAL STAY AWAY because your going to get mad when they return your clippers at least bad sharpening for hair cutting clippers took my masters and Andis worst choice I ever made if your a barber and love your clippers stay away or find out for yourself but you wont be pleased all the time their not constant ....too bad pPl were nice there but my work is my money and if my tools aint right no go
