Charlie is the best. Two stores next door to eachother.Why do you can buy a basic Billy Bob Thorton Made for $10,000, You can get the attention and care that you need if you’re in there to actually hear and see some equipment for purchase consideration. I love that this place is not a museum. He’s a full inventory of his, steaks, he’s got an awesome Ludwig collection, and those guys help me out a lot last few days. Will be back and most certainly recommend. For when you just want a really good drum shop, and not a museum like next-door.

I wasnt sure of the price so I went to Guitar Center first and they failed me so I drove to the Sam Ash on Sunset met with Charlie and purchased my drum equipment. He gave me the outstanding price I was looking for and I scored a nice drum throne.

Man I love shopping at this store location. All the drum techs really know their stuff. On top of that... The customer service is so personable and exceptional. Will always continue to shop and purchase from this location for as long as I am living in Los Angeles.

It was quick and no mess, no fuss. Even if I return something, there’s no hassle. And they have just about everything you need. 24” bass drum heads, 26” ride cymbal, percussion etc. Almost everything.Pretty much. I like going to this place. It’s a long ride, but sometimes you just need to get what you’re looking for.

Anthony helped me with all the details of finding a pedal for my cajon. There is a music store next door to Sam Ash in Hollywood. That other store with the word guitar in its name, gave no help to me. Though a sales person said he would assist me, I went to Sam Ash after the guitar store left me waiting for a long time in their drum department.

Charlie, Ace, and Shepherd are all super friendly, professional, know their drums, and provided incredible service in our drum and cymbal search. Charlie was very patient as we came in to the store every weekend for a month comparing different cymbals - he even reserved a time on our final weekend and had our previous cymbal choices set up when we showed up. My son and I ended up purchasing the lot from him. Cool guys, great experience.

Charles Nicienski helped me out and was absolutely fantastic. He was proactive about locating, not only what I was looking for, but the price I saw it advertised for. That took some digging but he willingly persisted and he found it. Sometimes customers are treated more like a nuisance when the questions they pose are not easily answered. Very helpful staff, walked in with hopes if what I might be able to find, and came out with exactly what I needed.The store seems to have a slightly different inventory than Guitar center...not to mention an entire Sunset strip store dedicated to drums only, and all thats related to...instead of just the usual drum dept.

Best Drum Shop in the world! They have drum experts that really want help and care about the service they provide. Ive been going to this shop for just over 2 years and it the same guys that really know my set up and give me advice on how to improve it. Id made the mistake of popping into Guitar Center first to replace a stolen hardware case and everything in it; astoundingly hopeless. Within minutes of arriving at Sam Ash I was met by Charles, who went above and beyond to help me out. Taking items out of boxes for me to see and feel makes a HUGE difference when youre trying to buy things. His knowledge across the product lines was invaluable. As I was buying so much stuff he helped a little with the bill, which on its own makes you a repeat customer. And the items that werent readily available in the store he searched for in the (somewhat antiquated) internal system, and hes organizing their delivery. Thanks to Charlie, thanks to Sam Ash.

Rude and incompetent employees. Specifically Ezequiel, Charlie, and Carlos. This shop was well run up until a couple years ago. New store manager Carlos is not good at his job. Twice they’ve messed up big orders and not taken responsibility. Zero apologies for their mistakes and wasted time. Avoid for serious purchases.

I came in this past Monday with my nephew and although the service was impeccable, there was an odd older man playing the drums obnoxiously loud the entire time I was there. This is the second time I’ve come in on a Monday evening where the same man is playing loud and it has been distracting. Great services though and a friendly staff!

On times of online shopping, there is nothing like to be informed in person about the Instruments while you can touch, try and HEAR them. Sam Ash is a fun place plenty of quality goodies

Absolutely hands down the mecca for percussionists in SoCal, the entire state perhaps. They have the best assortment of brands/models/accessories Ive ever seen. Went in looking for a 15 snare batter head (if you own one, you know how difficult it is to find one) and they had a few to choose from. Keith even swapped it out and tuned my 15 DW Super Solid to perfection! They also stocked Evans 360 Hydraulic Black Tom Heads, which I have always ordered online cause nobody carries them, save for this drum shop. I would recommend this shop without reservation whatsoever!

I attended a drum clinic at this Sam Ash Drum Store location in Hollywood. The entire staff was very friendly, and knowledgeable about their drum equipment and percussion. This is definitely where I would go when ready to make a purchase.

Ace hooked it up when I was looking for a new set of cymbals. He helped me set up a situation where I could try a few versions of the same cymbal for a few weeks and then bring back the ones I didnt want for a full refund. Thats some of the best customer service Ive ever had. Major props to Sam Ash- Ill be coming back there for a long time for any drum stuff I need.

The staff is super cool and the selection of stuff they have is usually off the beaten path from what music stores typically offer. My only complaint is that they sometimes dont have certain items in stock which can be easily found at Guitar Center next door.

Sam Ash Hollywood usually has a greater selection of acessories that other music stores dont have. They price match on new items too . Its always good to go there check out their vast inventory.

The staff at Drums/Percussion was excellent! Charlie patiently walked me through my options and solutions for my home studio. I walked out a new drums set and my ears awakened.

They were very helpful and encouraged me to try everything and anything I wanted. I was looking for a new ride and theyre cymbal return/exchange policy is great so you dont have to worry about getting your new cymbal home and having it not really fit with the rest of your kit.

I like this place in Canoga Park . Always friendly, knowledgeable and great prices . I pass 3 maybe 4 Guitar Centers, but never go in . Had bad probs with them, NEVER a prob or even a minor yell at Sam Ash ... I can go there or Hollywood . They have a seperate drum shop and I can also order from other Sam Ash stores or the main online store from my home and get fast delivery and same Sam Ash quality . Try them & compare prices to Guitar Center and see Sam Ash is cheaper for same gear !
