This place has been on my wish list to visit for a while now, and I’m very pleased I did! Everything you could imagine for tailoring, including some harder to find items like hair canvas (hymo). Staff was knowledgeable and friendly and helped me pick out just the right materials for my project. Prices were reasonable too! If the door doesn’t open don’t assume it’s closed, ring the doorbell or call them.

Wow! I don’t what happened to this place but I would give it a zero star if I could. I regularly buy their most expensive 100% Cashmere and Camel Hair Fabrics and sent my assistant in to buy some more today and they told him you have to have an appointment to come in the store and rudely kicked him out of the shop. It might be nice before people drive 1.5 hours to come to your store which is advertised as “open” to let them know that you aren’t open anymore during regular business hours. I am stunned. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

I was referred here by a friend since the fabric I was looking for did not seem to be available in the San Diego area. As soon as I walked in the store, I was asked if I was looking for anything specific: yes, tweed!! I was immediately directed upstairs and found a lovely vintage wool tweed in a rich green color that was perfect. There are several other types of suit/shirt fabric available as well as buttons, zippers, etc. Very friendly staff and lovely merchandise. Now I know where to go next time. Thank you!

Incredible selection of useful things - think hardware store meets home goods store meets game store. Very helpful staff, especially in the hardware department. A great go-to place for eclectic household items that are tough to track down other places in the city.

This is a REAL fabric store that makes one want to sew. Most of the fabrics are “technically “ for men’s suits but they wouldn’t “have” to be . They are so gorgeous and quality”, that just walking through the store and looking and feeling these gorgeous fabrics is a beautiful experience . I was drawn in because they carry a range of shoulder pads ... I needed some substantial ones...not carried in ones local fabric stores...for a favorite vintage coat( see pics) Great price too...$4.12 for the pair!

Always my favorite place to shop for cloth. As a tailor who loves to use vintage suitings, B Black is incomparable in both quality and pricing. So many lovely vintage fabrics here. If you know what to look for, there are many excellent choices for modern suitings also.Always excellent service too. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend B. Black.

Fantastic selection of mens suit fabrics and tailor supplies. These are high end fabrics but deal can be found on remnants.
