Only been here twice so far (just moved to LA) and have been very happy with their Pokemon stock and service. No where else had Hidden Fates and although the set is 3 years old now, the pricing isnt outrageous. Seeing some reviews that the cards sold here are fake? That is absolutely incorrect. I have only purchased sealed Pokemon from them (previously a booster box) and was very happy with my purchase. Maybe some people need to do research before they write? The more you know!The guys inside are nice and the location is very convenient (parking). During covid, to go support your Local Game Store is absolutely imperative. Yes times are tough for everyone right now, but if you are looking for games or collectibles or tcgs in the Los Angeles area Next Gen Games absolutely deserves your support.

Huge demo library/games for sale, lots of tables to play games, friendly staff, and competitively priced (many games were cheaper than Amazon!). Easily the best board game store in Los Angeles.

I really like this little shop! Theyre really nice and really like taking about magic the gathering. Always get my preorders here. They have really good deals sometimes! Ive had weird experiences at games ships before but never here. Do recommend it if youre nervous about going into a place because youre worried about having a weird experience!

Next gen games has a chill atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and the prerelease magic the gathering events are always well run.

My wife and I have been looking around trying to find a new shop to be our main place to go. After visiting several similar stores this one in my honest opinion was the best. The store had a bunch of things from a variety of hobbies and games. The staff there was actually pleasant and helpful. They greeted us when we walked in. Then 10 minutes later they asked us if we’re looking for anything in specific ONE time and left us alone. They were also very kind and friendly to my children. We purchased quite a few items and they even gave my kids a couple of Pokémon cards to put a smile on their face. This will definitely be our go to shop and I would highly recommend if you’re around to give them a visit and give them a chance for your business.

This store used to have regular Pokémon prices but since the pandemic started their prices have gone up and still are to this day ! Vivid voltage for 5 dollars a pack or a booster box 180 !? There was obviously a reprint of that set that target even selling them and other game stores aren’t even selling their booster box that high of vivid voltage. Wouldn’t recommend nobody buying Pokémon cards from here.

Went in to find a couple games for an upcoming game night and they were very helpful talking over recommendations. Theres a large selection of games in-store (including expansions) and the prices are pretty good. I talked over games that I really liked and they found ones similar that I could introduce to my friends. I will definitely be returning again.

Overall one of the more organized and professional mtg and pokemon shops.. they also have live mtg battles on Fridays. On Pico and Hauser.

Nearest game store from us (about 20 minutes walk). Mostly go for paints (unfortunately, they dont sell Vallejos) but they have a wide variety of card and board games. Reasonably priced too, especially when compared to Amazon - also, great to support your local game stores when youre able to! Very helpful and insightful staff!

Honestly they are great. They have competitive pricing, sometimes better sometimes worse than online stores, but most of the time the same or lower. The staff is wonderful and awkward as expected. Enjoyed the purchases so far!

I don’t know the owners name but I came in to simply look on the fly, and not only did he kindly suggest games I was looking for but he looked out for me in my interests, did not feel like he was trying to make a sell. I bought two decks of magic cards and he proceeded to even get me started with some extra packs. Great guy. Support this place! And their black cat jellybean!

Great selection of board games and very helpful staff

Ive been coming to Next-Gen for years, covering 3 different location moves. My primary reason for my repeated business is due to friendly staff, and a rather close-knit community of players who have also followed the store through its various location changes.I have also recently found and dusted off my old Super Famicom, multitap, and SNES cartridge converter so Ill be browsing their rather extensive used video game section more closely in the near future as well.I am unfortunately not familiar with any Tabletop RPGs so I cant speak to those events with any first-hand experience, but from my time playing Magic at the store Im sure those events and communities are just as warm and welcoming.

They had so much more than I was expecting, especially RPGs. Many game stores now carry lots of board games and Next-Gen is no exception; their selection is very good.

Great place for friendly advice and expert knowledge. Really great board game stock, miniatures and painting accessories. Its extremely safe for covid, large open space inside, plastic covering the cash register, everyone must wear masks. Its awesome, you should go. :-)

I have been coming to this shop since they were at a different location. Before getting a PS4, I would come here to get the used PS3 games I never got around to playing (instead of supporting Amazon). Ive come here for MTG Pre Releases (where despite my noob status even the other players were really nice), and now I come here for miniature painting supplies and DnD source books. The staff is knowledgeable, kind, and super helpful. Their prices are fair comparatively to other game stores in LA and they have a great selection of Citadel products, Warhammer, DnD Minis, and board games (as well as vintage video games and card games). Theyve got my business!

Two months ago brought Pokémon packs. What I find out was the seller sold me fake packs. To prove it I compare the real and fake card. Right away I knew the fake card color was faded and the real one wasn’t. I won’t being purchasing here anymore. A long drive and getting scam made my day.

This place is incredible. Jeremy is the most hospitable host there is. I went in there with the intent of just looking around, and I mentioned to him how I used to play Magic but lost my touch. He responded by letting us know when to come by, as well as giving my girlfriend and I starter sets to relearn the game. I seriously could not have had a better experience and I just want to say that Next-Gen does things right. If youre a fan of games, you should check it out. They got it all; video, card and board games.

Awesome shop to get your fix for Magic The Gathering (game that i play 🤣) but this shop also holds events for pokemon, warhammer, dungeons and dragons and many more.The staff are great people always willing to help. Strategically located next to a pizza and pasta place, and conveniently next to a hair and nail salon too. You can always find someone to play magic with you no matter the time, and there are hundreds of hoard games for sale too. You can also buy Pokemon and magic cards (you can also find poke.on players here too, but magic is more.popular here) there are also a variety of console games too. Personally, I love it, i come about twice every month because of school, but every trip is a winner. The staff are great. Shout-out to Edie.

Walked in to this store today to buy X-Wing and to get two conversion sets and it couldn’t have been more welcoming. Both the employees and people there to have a game were very friendly. Prices are good and they have a great selection of different games. Recommend to anyone to check it out and take a look.

We stopped in here looking for a game and got a expert run down on several options. The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable about the games they have. They stock a good number of games and they also have room to play some at tables. Prices seemed a little high though.

Great board game selection, they pretty much have everything. The staff is super helpful, one guy sat down with us and showed us how to play a game he recommended. They have demo copies of most popular games and you can go in and play them on Wednesday nights. Prices are probably higher than if you ordered online but you wont feel guilty supporting this shop, they really care about what they do .

When I first came to Next-Gen Games, they were still located on Miracle Mile.However, I will say that their change in location not only provides an abundance of available seating for open play from either their large collection of sample games or games brought from home, but also comes with a designated parking lot that stays open as late as their store does!The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable in their products and respective game specialties making the environment overall pleasant and newcomer friendly.They have televisions located throughout the store displaying their daily events.Their community which consists of table top players, such as WarHammer and Dungeons and Dragons, trading card game players, such as Magic the Gathering and Pokemon TCG, and other players, such as miniature model painters and so much more, all share a similar reason why they go to Next-Gen Games; To have fun with wonderful people who share the same interests/hobbies at their openly available, friendly local game store!I would HIGHLY recommend visiting Next-Gen Games!(Did I mention the parking was free? Because it is and its great.)

Love this place! They have a huge collection of lesser-known board games, a good selection of used and new video games, and a good variety of cards and card storage options.They have also regular card tournaments. I havent been to one yet, but they always seem to be well-attended. Also, even if you go in for something else during tournament times, no one acts as though youre interrupting and the staff is very helpful. Very unique and essential game store!

A great place for my board games and supplies. The employees are very knowledgeable and arent trying to force you to walk out with a product. But their products are so well priced that you might as well pick up something while youre there.

They had a decent selection of games but when I asked about magic the gathering all they showed me was rival packs instead of trying to get the most out of the experience and offering me more items or other ways to make a deck and one of the workers were acting a bit too high and mighty for a service worker.

Stopped by to check out some gaming action. Friendly staff, managing a couple of tournaments, still made time to show us sweet retro games.

Recently got into Magic:The Gathering and staff was really helpful into what you should be looking for. Gives good advice for new players about in-store events and finding people to play with. I found almost everything I was looking for in one or two trips so I would highly recommend for this to be your first stop if youre looking for a LGS.

The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable about the games they have. They stock a good number of games and they also have room to play some at tables.

Third time here in the past year from NYC— would be here 3 times a week if possible. The staff is knowledgeable and generous. The shop is clean and has a huge selection while maintaining a lot of open floor space so there can be events and casual shoppers at the same time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I liked the fact that it had all consoles, past and present with games to go along with it. The downside about it with me is that not all games that youre looking to sell will be taken cause of stock, which I think is kinda dumb. At best theyll give you a small amount of cash and store credit.

This place has so many choices for games of all types. Roll play and board games, cards and some video games too. The store was set up with tables for in store game play and I think tournaments for things like Magic cards. Staff is great, helpful and friendly. Free parking in back lot.

I enjoy watching foreign films and I usually check to see the new releases. But, Im not gonna pay $30.00 for a DVD so I simply write down the title and rent it on Netflix. Call me cheap but I do buy their sale items.

This is place is FANTASTIC! By far the largest game store in the area. They have a ton of Magic, Warhammer, table top games, and video games. I have attended many Magic events there and they are very well run and I was pleased they actually started on time! The staff is also very friendly, they are always happy to give advise and help new players learn the game. If youre a Magic player this should definitely be your store.

Great place to get magic cards. I was able to trade in a lot of my older stuff for almost $200 store credit! They carry singles, boosters, fat packs, sleeves and deck boxes. Plus they have events and drafts almost every day of the week. Cant recommend this place enough.

This place is great if youre looking for great videogames. They have all sorts of platforms available, and its not limited to electronic games either; they also carry several card games as well. The back room has a cool little lounge where you can sit back and play some video games.

Very cool card shop. They host leagues and tournaments for various trading card games. The staff was awesome and welcoming to new people.

When I first went to the store it seemed decent enough. It had a variety of tabletop games and supplies for Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, etc. However as my DnD group kept playing there we discovered that they give preferential treatment to people who pay to play. I understand its their to right to do so as its their business. But to consistently kick a group out as well as give 1st class treatment to those who pay a fee, and who already meet every Wednesday when some of us cant due to hectic scheduling, is disgusting. Not to mention the blatantly disrespectful service they have shown to free to play.So if you and your friends were looking for a chill place to sit down, play DnD in a good atmosphere, do NOT go to Next Gen Games unless you have the money to smooth things over.

It is a great place. Plenty of seating, friendly staff, and a good selection. Downside is the unisex restroom because some boys dont know how to properly use a restroom.

Nice selection with good layout.

Went in a few weeks ago for the regularly scheduled Saturday draft. Not enough players showed up, so the draft didnt fire but the employees were very nice about it, even giving me a free pack (not necessary but very appreciated)! While I was there, and since the draft wasnt happening, I decided to sell some singles. The clerks told me that the Saturday draft always fires and that this weekend was an exception b/c of GP Las Vegas. Fair enough. Based on this I was convinced to sell for store credit instead of cash, planning to use the credit for draft entries over the next couple months (and I originally left a 5 star review after that visit). Now, Ive gone back every weekend since and the draft hasnt happened even once... One time I was asked to register for a sealed event instead (at almost twice the cost of a draft), and this most recent time I was just given a shrug and i dont know what to tell you. While the original clerk probably wasnt intentionally misleading, I probably wont be back except to try to get some value out of my substantial store credit without taking too much of a loss. My advice -- this is probably an OK place to play if you happen to live very nearby, but it is likely not worth it to travel to for scheduled events.

Great place. I come here for D&D and Warhammer, but they host all sorts of games and game nights. Staff is friendly and dont mind explaining new games to newbs like me. Gets a little tight sometimes though, its a popular place, especially in the evenings, so parking can be rough (they have a section at the back where you can park, but space is limited).

A bit expensive but friendly and knowledgeable and they have such a selection! Sad theyre moving at the end of the month :(

Went to 3 different retro game stores in the DTLA area and this by far was my favorite to see. They have a ton of collection of retro games, board games, and collectible merchandise. I did not come out empty handed for sure.
