Alex is awesome!! Living in San Diego, alex was nice enough to correspond with me through pictures and calls for my wifes broken cello. Finally made the trip up to his shop to get it repaired. Alex was great and knows his stuff. Aside from the obvious crack, i asked him if there was anything else that he would fix to make the cello perfect. He pointed out some minor stuff. He said hed have it available in a week. Came back to pick it up and not only did the crack, but the minor stuff he pointed out as well. And only charged me for the crack. Alex shares the same passion and love for the instruments he repairs as the musician. I trust him to take well care of my instruments and getting it done right. I would gladly make the trip from San Diego. Totally worth it

I’m a full-time cellist here in LA. I came into Alexs new shop (which looks great) to get a new bow, and once again, Alex came through with TRULY EXCEPTIONAL quality for the price! Every time I visit Alex, he goes above and beyond what I originally needed him for. He was able to advise me on what type of strings work better for my cello and we also were able to find out that my sound post positioning was the reason for my cello not producing the best sound lately. Im so glad he was able to investigate my problem and fix it on the spot for me. I finally will have my confidence back when I perform/record, and its all thanks to Alex and his impeccable work. Hes the BEST!!

Excellent, knowledgeable violin service and quick turnaround. Alex can make adjustments/modifications to instruments, builds new instruments from 100 year old wood, and sells instruments on consignment. Also a super-nice guy.

Alex is a diamond. He is SO nice and SO knowledgeable. My son had been bugging me to start violin lessons for a year before I gave in. A friend of mine referred me to Alex and the experience was so personal and catered. My son is 10 years old and not perfect matters but he can hold his own. Alex struck up a conversation with him and asked him what he knew about violins and why he liked them, it was really special.In terms of prices - Im blown away how cheap it is to rent the 3/4. His prices are super reasonable and I cant think of having gone anywhere else. Its been about 3 months and my son and I are still super happy with this relationship. Hes officially our violin guy.

My fine old French violin was definitely in need of some TLC. For years I suffered with a worn out fingerboard and bridge. Alex did a superb job restoring the instrument; it has never sounded or played better.Courteous and helpful, he accommodated my difficult travel schedule as I live over 200 miles away. A traditionally trained luthier, he is also an excellent violinist in his own right, giving him invaluable added perspective from a player’s standpoint.Alex Loskutov Violins is freeway close, just blocks from an off ramp. There is ample parking at his front door. Just bring some change for the parking meter. Whether you need a rehair or a complete restoration, you can trust Alex with your precious string instrument. He also offers wonderful instruments and bows for sale.
