Fantastic Store! Found just the sewing machine to quilt with...and some fabulous fabric too!
I started looking into switching to Bernina machines and went to another dealer first. There were no machines available to test drive there. It turns out the dealer had decided to go out of business but did not share that with me. Good thing I did not purchase from her. I went to Sandys store shortly after and was happy to find many machines to choose from. Being an experienced sewer/embroiderer I knew what I was looking for. Sandy spent time with me showing me the two models I wanted to consider. I sewed on both and then decided. Sandy is very knowledgeable and helpful. She worked with me to get the best deal. She is a great instructor and the store has all the supplies one would need. I enjoy the classes and demonstrations she offers. I am now a loyal customer.
I purchased my first Bernina from Sandy after asking around about local dealers. Sandy came highly recommended. She sat down with me for a good hour as I reviewed the machine I was considering and even welcomed me to come back and sew on it some more to make sure I was certain about my purchase. It was very clear that Sandy was more concerned about someone being happy with their purchase than making a sale just for a sale. I purchased a new machine from her and have been happy. This past weekend my machine toppled over in my car, bending the bobbin winder. I brought the machine in and Tim (the tech) was kind enough to make the repair while I waited. I could not be happier with their professionalism and service.
Love the place! Sandy has helped me so much with all my projects. And her classes are great also.
This is my first Google review ever, and I want readers to know that Im not related to the store owner and dont know her outside of being her customer. That said, this store is one of the few of its kind left in the extended Pittsburgh area, providing a well-organized, lovely selection of superb quilting fabrics and most anything you could want for quilting at fair prices. Sandy (the owner) is generous; she and her assistant Jan are very knowledgeable--real experts! She provides great customer service; if she doesnt have what you need, shell get it. She offers regular classes on quilting, machine embroidery, and applique (plus others!), and Ive learned a great deal from her. She also keeps a broad selection of the latest Bernina machines and knows the ins and outs of each product. I feel my investment in a Bernina will be well-supported for a very long time, thanks to her support. She also has an in-store technician (Dave) and is certified to service machines herself. I try to get to the store at least every two weeks and am usually there for an hour minimum. Can you tell I love it? Sandy and her store are real jewels.
Very personable, very knowledgeable, has everything you could ever need in a sewing store. She even offers lessons and has a cute rescue dog that greets you at the door!!
Wonderful store, very pleased with purchase of my sewing machine owner great to explain about machine, answers all your guestions, very knowledgeable about products
The Sewing Store offers a wide variety of Bernina sewing machines & accessories, quality fabrics & notions, and classes/support for every Bernina machine that is sold. Sandy Fink, the owner, clearly shows pride of ownership in her attractive, meticulously clean, and well-appointed store. Sandy knows the entire Bernina line and is able to help customers find the most appropriate machine. She offers Bernina Mastery classes, as well as various sewing, embroidery, and specialty classes. The Sewing Store is one of those increasingly rare places that has everything needed to complete a project.
Sandy is a very knowledgeable store owner who takes the time to make sure you are getting what you want and know how to use it. I travel an hour to get to her because she’s worth it.
I have vintage Bernina machines (801Sport, 1130, 1230, and 009DCC). Sandy is very knowledgeable and helpful any time I have a question. I have always received excellent service from the Certified Bernina Tech at The Sewing Store.

This little store nestled in Lower Burrell Pa is packed with inspiration, fabrics, classes, a very helpful and knowledgeable staff, conducts open houses to introduce new products, gives loyalty points to cash in for free stuff, has great tech sevice all led by a great teacher and business woman named Sandy Fink. Sandy not only keeps up with the newest Bernina products but can answer any question that you throw her way! If there is a problem she cant solve Bernini gets a call AND SHE GETS BACK TO YOU! She takes her business seriously, but she also has fun with it. I am satisfied with everything I have purchased, including my Bernina machines.Believe me I am not patronizing, come and see for yourself! I thought I was a decent sewist, but have learned so much, and still learning, since discovering her store. Thanks!
