Love this store! They always have everything I need for my 15 year old athlete. Huge stock of brand name mens apparel, clothing, ect. They made our back to school shopping so much easier!

2 young kids in shoes little to no help there had to ask 3 times. Then at checkout 2 cashiers line 8 people deep in both. Seemed to be managers walking by but no concern for A backup cashier. Did have time to hold conversation amongst themselves. Spent $400 in there today I will find other places to go where I dont waste my time looking for someone to help me and then 10-15 min in line for me to give you my money. If my son had not been with me I would have walked out. You need to rethink your staffing structure you might be saving money but your customers are not happy. Good luck with your customer service approach.

Found a great deal on a marked down item. When cashier asked for lookup from the outdoor dept, the man, without skipping a beat, said it was misplaced. I ran to the shelf and took a pic of the tag. The guy then walked up, and not knowing i was the one confirming price, proceeded to remove tag of item. I said no worries, i took a pic. When i went back to check out, i heard the manager on the radio tell the cashier to open my SEALED FROM THE FACTORY BOX to make sure i hadnt stolen anything. This will be the last time i shop at this north location profiling Academy. Btw, the Academy south of town had the same item on sale too. No problems there. Spend a little gas money and visit the cleaner, friendlier, customer supportive south Lubbock location. Managers there have always been top notch.Wish i could give zero stars to tbe 19th street location.

I come from Colorado to fish with my family here in Lubbock and let me tell you guys. This place has staff thatll talk with you about fishing, share moments of their time in the outdoors. Gun department tries to keep up on stock and I like it when they tell me when theyre out, they are out of it. Store is clean and the staff is competent.

I love this store! Everything Ive bought here that I needed a little advice or help with (firearms, exercise equipment, my beloved bike) was a good purchase and the employees are always very friendly.

I know its late in the season but it was disappointing to see that they were down to one small clearance rack of swimsuits that didnt match and no cooler tubes. But the store is clean and cool and everyone is friendly.

I always find what im looking for, i have never had a bad experience going to this store.

There was nothing in stock, appeared as if they were going out of business. I was there for firearms and they had a minimum number to choose from. Wife was seeking clothing items and there was not a lot to choose from.

They have everything I needed but I went over where the guns were the young kid behind the counter was too busy on his phone. I asked him a question and he snapped at me. I was asking about a gun and the first thing he said was if the ammunition aint on the shelf we dont have it. I politely told him I wasnt looking for ammunition I wanted to look at a gun and then I just walked away.

Very clean place, organized and the hospitality was on point... everyone wanted to help or assist...

The people were very nice. They told me where things were. However, when I got a large box from a middle shelf they did not offer to help me with it or help me take it to the car. This is unusual because usually people assume I’m a little old lady and try to help me do everything!

They had multiple check stands open with employees working at them. This concept doesnt exist or hasnt caught on at the 19th street location, they only have customer service register open there.

This Academy was very well stocked and clean. We went at 8 PM and all of the employees were following CDC guidelines. They were friendly and prices were very good for the quality of products they offer. I will definitely be going back.

Academy has great collection of running shoes. Not the best prices though as they advertise.

Workers do not social distance. I was standing in an aisle looking at shoes and they chose to squeeze past me multiple times instead of go another way. You should not be touching customers and this is especially important in times like these.

JJ needs to learn how to communicate with a customer while he is busy. No eye contact, no explanation, no information, just frustration! I would’ve fired him on the spot for arguing with a customer as well. Everyone else was very helpful.

As soon as you walk in you get greeted. They are more friendly and offer help than any other Academy store. Store was clean and organized. Rj, at the shoe department was really helpful and looked up some working boots for us in a specific size. Cleaned up the boots we bought. Show department looked organized. Tray at the register was very friendly, helpful. Asked us if we wanted to apply for credit and it didnt take so long to get approved.

Great place to find specials on clothes and shoes and occasionally a box of ammo.

This store seems nice and the employees were nice and tried to be helpful. I had ordered an item that was $80 cheaper at Cabelas for in-store pickup. I figured heck sinc Academy has a 5% price match guarentee I would use them. I showed up to pick it up and they would not honor the Cabelas price because it showed out of stock at Cabelas. So i returned the itemand drove to cabelas, where the item was in stock and at the reduced price. Thissaved me about 33% overall. Academy, it will be another 4 years before i even bother thinking of you.

I was in the store on 114th and Quaker this past Thursday and they only had $350 bicycles (3 of them) for anyone over 5’0”. A worker told me a new shipment would be in Monday so I just called and I have been placed on hold for over 20 minutes, a total of 8 times and no one could answer whether they got the new shipments of bikes or not. The third time she came back on the line, she specifically stated, “Hold on, I have a manager right here,” and put me back on hold and never got back on the line. It would ring and someone would pick up and not speak and just put me back on hold. I just needed a yes pr no so I could go to the store and look, or stay home and wait another day.

We love this store, but today we went to get a tackle box and some fishing tackle and the shelves were almost bare. I guess the reason is because of Covid 19 and the fishing tackle coming from China. Hopefully they can restock soon.

Great place to get guns but Im not a huge fan of the cost of the clothes.

I love these stores, especially the two in Lubbock. Great prices and selections in outdoors, clothing, and shoes. They seem to always have what Im looking for in stock or it can be shipped in a day or two.The store is clean and neat with products located where they should be. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful if you need help or have questions. They have a generous return policy on everything except consumables or firearms and ammunition.Ive bought more sporting goods this year than ever before and Academy is one of the reasons. I highly recommend Academy and encourage my friends to shop them first.

This is the academy location that is closest to where I live. I went in looking for a specific item and was able to locate exactly what I needed they only had one left what luck. I shop at Several of these stores around Texas and I find them to be mostly well staffed with knowledgeable people this store is no exception.

I purchased hiking sandals for my daughter that were a size to small. Checked the policy online regarding exchanges without a receipt prior to driving out to the store. Once in the store the manager stated she couldn’t authorize an exchange for the exact same shoe just one size bigger because I didn’t have a receipt. The policy was updated on 5/2/2020 online and stated I could exchange without a receipt just no refund! She told me that I couldn’t do that because of COVID. She refused to help. I drove to the Academy on 19th and the manager there was glad to authorize an exchange for a larger size. It was obvious that my child hadn’t worn the shoes. The manager at this Academy didn’t even look at the shoes to try and help with an exchange. Bottom line it was rude and she lacked customer service. I had no problems with the “policy” at the 19th street location.

Good experience, found everything i needed. nobody in the fishing department to help, but good experience overall and will come back.

Bought a bike for my kid. Tube in tire lasted one hour. Buy tubes with your bike. This is another store where the employees know very little about the products but insist on helping you. This usually leads to me shopping elsewhere.

Well be a two vehicle caravan when we in being our 1800 mile trip in a few days. Following my brothers suggestion that we use walkie-talkies to communicate, we went to Academy Sports tonight and found a great selection. We found just the right one for a reasonable price. The store is clean and bright and has staff to help you locate what youre looking for.

I used the Walmart drive through pick up service for the first time on 05-22-2020 & my Personal Shopper a young man named Purnell got everything exactly as I ordered it, had it ready for me and ran it out and loaded it up and had me out of there in 3 minutes. Highly impressed with that young man. He was very well mannered and polite!! Took real good care of me. I just had a heart attack a couple months ago and cant do a lot of running around so this service was of great value to me. I hope Walmart on 114th & Quaker take good care of that young man & understand how much of an asset he is to the company. If yall have some sort of manager training program I highly recommend Purnell for management. Im retired now but was a supervisor in my field for 32 years. I can spot talent. If I was still working I would recruit this young man out from under you!! Wish I had thought to ask him his last name. You be sure and thank him for me!!
