This store is a must visit when in Lubbock! They have a huge selection of novelty items, used and new. I could spend hours in the store. I only gave it 4 stars because even though you can find some bargains, other items seem to be overly priced. Example, used puzzle had a dollar general sticker with price of $3.00 but 2nd & Charles price was $4.50. 🤔

The place is insane for book lovers. You can get lost for hours. All the sections are very rich in terms of collections, and sections cover a really wide range: comics, manga, fiction, non fiction, romance, biography and so on. The deals are also awesome, and almost a steal.My only demand is they should arrange the vast collection they have in a bit more organized manner, so that it becomes easier to find what I am looking forOverall, a very immersive experience.

Cant find anything at this location. No customer service, overpriced. Not worth the money.

Good place to find your old favorite songs books and memorabilia

The worst 2nd and Charles weve been to. Very unorganized, books thrown onto the shelves, poor selection in the collectibles and novelties, its almost like someone bought stuff from target next door and sold it at this location. Nothing unique.

Sold our books and bought more books. Some books are fairly priced while I feel others are overpriced. They only take hardbacks that have the original dust jacket. I even find good books in the free bin.

Great book collection (sorted in a somewhat confusing manner but you’ll eventually find your subject of interest), licensed merchandise from Nintendo (like animal crossing, Mario) and even musical instruments! great addition to the shopping complex, great way to window shop next to target and ross!

Absolutely Love This Store! This Place Is My Forever Entertainment Store IN THE WORLD. Great selection of books, movies, video games, and hidden nostalgic gems, all over the store. Looking through alot of these comments, and Im seeing some negative reviews, most of them are from the average anti-masker, the people who have come to be quite the burden to the many a retail workers lives. I am good friends with several of the staff, I am one of their many regulars, and I just want this store to know and the company to know that all of you guys do an amazing job. Keep it up. Godspeed!

I love this place. So affordable. I work at B & N (even with my large discount) the prices are actually more affordable here. What I cant find I buy on Ebay and at work. But Im always impressed and leave with stuff every time I go in. The employees are great with COVID-19 protocol especially on their customers. Love it!

This place is awesome. Collectables, books, pop vinyl figs, comics. Manga, movies, albums, much much more. I spend an hour or 2 everytime I go in there.

I recently went with some books for buybacks. They gave me three dollars in cash or five in store credit for 7 books that cost me about 100 over a period of time. They said it was because they were paperback, but I know what those books are worth. I will never do a buyback with them again. I do like to shop for books there. Thats the only reason this review wasnt one star.

Today my Nephew and I visited 2nd and Charles. He is only 6 years old and its his favorite store. As we were looking at the clearance DVD section my nephew accidentally ripped a sticker and before I had a chance to put it back on for him a caucasian female employee with red hair tied in a ponytail (I wanted to give a description of her because all the other employees involved were awesome!) And to narrow it down she was putting up DVDs around 5:05-5:10 on 9/6. She yelled at my Nephew to leave the stickers alone. And then glared at him as if he had tried to steal something. I was so shocked someone would talk to anyone like that for something that you could tell was an accident let alone a child. My nephew began to cry and I expected her to say sorry or something but she just started throwing more DVDs and rolling her eyes at me. I walked away without saying anything while my nephew was tearing up. He did apologize as we walked away and she just shrugged her shoulders. I wanted to say something to her but with my nephew watching I didnt feel like it was the right thing to do at that moment. I did have a few books and dvds I was going to buy but with my nephew so upset and now wanting to leave his favorite store, we put them down and left. Before we walked out of the store we did talk to 2 really great employees and explained to them what happened. They were working the front counter as you walk in. They were so nice and even took down my information and they even apologized to my nephew personally. I hate leaving negative reviews but I am hoping someone from the management sees this and will correct this type of behavior the employee displayed. While it was just one person who ruined this visit for us.... We will come back because of the 2 employees up front. Sorry if the rude employee was having a bad day but I to work in customer service and you need to learn to leave that stuff at home while at work., =Brandon

Great book in the free bin. And all around great place for book worms, comic geeks (yes Im one too) and anything that is fiction (books, movies, shows, items) they also have lots of games and old game stations

The best book store in Texas...I drive from Galveston/Bayou Vista Tx. Just to shop here at least 4 times a year...but every visit is worth it..they even got cassettes, cds dvds and more.....

Great prices especially if youre looking for older books, music, etc.

The store itself is a cool place - its clean and bright with a great selection. The prices are pretty decent. But the employees are not friendly. They were very rude and disrespectful. We wont be back.

Came in just to browse for the first time. Loved the collection of books, music, toys, and misc. Oddly enough, found an affordable dog toy that I ended up buying this time. Its the type of place I can envision going for unique gifts. They even have some antique books there. They have lots of signs saying you can sell to them or trade items in as well. I havent tested that out so you may want to call ahead to see what they want. Ill definitely check them out again.

Very poor customer service. The employees would yell at the customers for every little thing. I immediately left and I definitely do not want to come back.

Need better organization for the childrens books. I looked for about 20 minutes for a specific book and gave up. If you just browsing, it might be okay, but good luck finding a specific item.

I was not impressed with this place. Books and old albums were theres. I dont know this was used in this age. (Albums). Book and cd movies there, were produced years ago.

Great place to buy good used books! Ive bought a couple of DVDs there too but mainly go for books. As far as books go, their prices are certainly lower than that of Josies.

Finally giving this place a review after coming here with hope a dozen times. The used Blu-rays here are o u t r a g e o u s l y overpriced. At least double the actual value of the vast majority of what they have in stock. I dont know what method for pricing they are using, but it needs to be reevaluated. I can go to any other place in town that carries used movies and buy 90% of what they have in stock here for half the price. Some of the used Blu-rays cost significantly more than what a NEW version of the movie would cost. Ridiculous. Its a cool store, but just insane the pricing used.

I don’t appreciate a business where the employees walk around harassing customers about not wearing a mask. People do have health issues that affect whether a mask can be worn and those health issues are nobody’s business. One kind reminder is understandable. Yelling at customers from across the store and belittling them = poor customer service.

Place closed at 8:00...on a Friday night— when nearly every other venue in the shopping center closes much, much later? Weird hours.

Such a wonderful find!! I have shared this place with people who live in Alabama!!

First time being to this location. We were immediately met by an VERY RUDE customer telling my mother she wasnt wanting her mask correctly. We were not even three steps in to the door and she was pulling the mask over her face. The employee continued to be rude to hereven though she had already fixed the issue. As I turned around and told him it is not his job as costumer servive rep. To argue with A CUSTOMER. he then begin to yell and argue with me (who already had my mask and two childrens mask on). We left immediately. If you are that scared of covid and are sure to get deathly ill you should be staying home and not shopping. ALSO it is not your job as a customer service representative to argue with a customer!!! I give that employee a F on their service. We will never be back.

Lots to see in this store. Collectibles, movies, board games, bit of everything. Got a strong Hastings vibe while browsing the store. Worth a look, just be aware some of their items are pricey.Ill go back to see what else I can find hiding on their shelves.

There are deal to be had, but youll have to do a lot more digging these days. It seems like a large percentage of their stuff is MSRP these days. Free bin outside is always worth a quick paw through to see if theres anything really neat there.

This place is amazing! There’s so much books, dvds, figures and even some video games! They’re the best place to look if you’re trying to find a specific thing that you want, but no other place has!

Disappointed. We had been itching to visit the store. 1st impressions were great. Unique selection and great collections the store felt like a place I could get lost in for hours. THEN i saw the prices. Yes there was an assortment of discounted used goods but 90% of everything else was marked up double than other stores or online. As an avid D&D player my son was excited to find the hard copies of the various books and merchandise. BUT following the trend your merchandise was nearly double the price. Each book easily $50. Other retailers have the same for less than $20. The selection was amazing but ultimately we left disappointed not a single item purchased. Well we tried.

Great interesting stuff. I wanted so many things and wish I was rich and could have gotten it all. My husband also wanted a lot of stuff so I went back later without him and got him some Christmas gifts.

Its alright it would be generally better if there were more people assisting customers on the floor.

1st time to sell here. Informed they would text when done. About 45 mins for the buy back. 10:46 they took my stuff. I was in the store til 1:15 I went to the desk and asked about how much longer they said “actually I think this has been ready for a while” REALLY REALLY. I was in the store they didn’t even text me. Some how someone was rescanning the movies so another 25 mins minimum. I just asked for my stuff back. If I could leave and come back next day since they made a mistake. offer only good for that day. So big waste of my day. Wanted to put no stars but won’t allow me.

I have found some good books here but the last few times I have been in the business book section has been in a shambles.They have too many books to be sorted by author. This section should be sorted by subject. For example : sales and marketing, management, leadership, finance etc etc

Great selection. Those complaining about this place have obviously never been to a used book store. If you have higher end products to sell, sell them to other collectors, not to a used book store. Great prices on their used books, as well as their newer products as well. On top of their great selection of books, 2nd & Charles has an awesome variety of games, comics, vinyl, movies, and more.

I love second and Charles, and that’s where I go when I get books, comics, etc. but today my friend went with me and had a bad experience with one of the employees and was treated badly. Everything else about the store was great!

They wouldnt buy back any of my books. And the customer service lacked. There were 4 people behind the counter and it was a standoff to see who would wait on me. I do not like being ignored.

Very good replacement for the recently departed Hastings. A little bit of everything here, including some items the former didnt have. Good experience every time I go, hope theyll stick around.

Hardly ever have help at the counter. Good supply of audio books but hardly offer anything for your used books. Sometimes service is sketchy.

2nd & Charles has great used and new options. Its a friendly place thats fun to browse or hang out at.
