We hired Glass Guru of Macedonia to fix three foggy windows. On the first attempt, they came unprepared to do the job and had to reschedule. On the second attempt, they removed the windows, realized the glass was too big because they had not measured correctly and put the old windows back in, leaving damage to the windows, frame and drywall. On the third attempt, they destroyed the windows. They left huge gaps in the frame, put the windows in crooked, left visible screws and nails, and there was black sealant leaking between the panes. The panes were not sealed properly and were as foggy as the ones they replaced. We now have to replace the entire windows, the framing, and have drywall repair. We have had several window experts look at the damage and they have said it was the worst window repair job they had ever seen. Glass guru will not return our money and demand a fourth chance at repair. In addition they will not pay for the window replacements that are needed because of the horrible workmanship despite admitting embarrassment over what a poor job they did. So what should’ve been a $2100 repair is now an $8500 replacement! In addition the workers were extremely messy and disrespectful to our home. They left caulk, nails and tape strewn across our driveway and garage. They charged dirty tools on our kitchen countertops as well as left drinks on your kitchen island. The house smelled of smoke when I returned and the bathroom was dirty. They even took a ladder to use without permission. I can’t understand how anyone could be so disrespectful to someone’s home and health during this pandemic. I hope this review keeps someone from having to go through what we have dealt with!
I’m happy with my experience with Glass Guru. I had a broken pane in a 50-year old window. Their tech, Tyler, did a very skilled and masterful job. He had to cut the broken pane out of the wooden frame and custom install a new pane. Tyler takes great pride in his work as the new pane looks perfect and you would never know it was replaced. I am very happy with the quality of the work.Office lady Katrina was very good at coordinating everything and was very nice too. I thought the cost was reasonable for a three-hour job + materials. I’d have no problem using Glass Guru again on a future project.
Glass Guru did a nice job re-screening our two sliding screen doors. The cost to do that plus provide pick-up and delivery of the re-screened doors was reasonable.
Had 5 cracked double panes on 1950s - era Pella windows. Windows were initially measured incorrectly, resulting in a second trip. But upon return, Mark did a great job installing, cleaned up after, with no damage to the overall window framing. Would use again.
If you have historical windows in your home, Glass Guru does not know how to appropriately repair them. They broke multiple pieces of glass and trim and said nothing about it. Their solution for fixing the trim they broke was to nail gun it back together. They completed work in a piecemeal and inefficient manner, then charged an hourly rate. They replaced ropes in the windows with the incorrect material. They split a wooden window frame by installing a pulley that was too large. They did not check with us before completing certain tasks. They were unprofessional and non-communicative throughout the process. I ended up fixing the windows myself.
Quick to respond and come out for a quote for a broken sidelight on our front door. After just a couple minutes, the person who came for the quote said they couldn’t repair the window to match the existing glass. Offered to send us options to replace- but we never heard back. Would not recommend for lack of follow up. Would have at least appreciated a call to say they couldn’t find a close enough match.
Call was pleasant, associates were pleasant, work was performed when said of 8 commercial windows. Done in one day.Price wasnt lowest and surly wasnt not the highest, but I thought it was very reasonable. I would use them again when or if needed. I give a 10 A+ rating..Joe
Run!!!!! Do not do business with this company! I never write reviews good or bad, however, because of the way I have been treated by this company I couldnt stop myself.I hired this company almost 3 months ago, paid upfront (per their request) for the visit and the upcoming repairs, the person that came out told me they could get the parts to repair the 3 windows and would be back in a week, one month went by and I called to see what was going on, long story short, they had to set another appointment to come out because they didnt have the correct part numbers or whatever their excuse was, mind you this is for my tenants home, so Im also getting calls from them asking me why their windows are not fixed. Now we are almost three months into the initial visit and the windows are still not fixed.I really want to focus on the absolute despicable customer service from their employee Katrina. If you enjoy being yelled at, not providing customer service at any level multiple times and pretty much being called a lair because she left you a message go with this company!!!I asked the customer service queen to have the owner to call me and he did, from a unknown number with no call back number and gave me a bunch of Covid excuses, mind you I just wanted him to be aware of how many times I was brushed off, lied to and treated terribly by his employee. They said they refunded my money today from 3 months ago, will see if I get that, however Im where I started 3 months ago with nothing.Thank you Glass Guru and Katrina not only are my windows not being repaired, I have endured so much stress from my tenants and your shady company!!!!
Overall I am satisfied with the service from glass guru. It took extremely long for the custom glass to my sliding door to come in. But once it arrived they were able to come out and installed it perfectly. Thank you so much for your service.
I was very pleased with the quality of materials, price, and most of the service. Clean up was not top notch as the technician left broken glass on my porch roof. Work was done as agreed in a timely manner.
Looks great and Mark did a great job installing my new window replacement.
They did a great job replacing glass in every Window in my new home! I would recommend this company.
Very professional. Repaired 24 year old Prestige (now not in business) windows that no one else wanted to.Very capable and professional.
We had three Andersen windows circa 1987 that had broken seals, thus were very foggy between the glass panes. We priced complete window replacement and WOW!$$$$$. My husband called The Glass Guru and they popped out the old glass packages and replaced them with new, made to fit glass packages. It took under two hours for the expert installer to replace all three window glass. The cost was under $800!!!!! Very professional company and we are completely satisfied! Highly recommend this company!
Replaced a window that was under warranty. It took longer to get window but that was because the first window came in broken from manufacturer. They were fast and even came one hour earlier than time given. Fast and good job! Very happy with everything.
Efficient and quick. We were pleased with their work.
If I could give zero stars I would. They took an extra 4 weeks to get my window fixed. When I got it, the window looked like garbage and didnt fit in the frame. I had to pay another company to fix it. When I called them to give me a credit for the money I had to pay someone else to fix it, the woman there gave me a whole bunch of attitude. Then she just hung up on me. Worst customer service ever! Absolutely never go to this place.
Restore repair replace the glass guru
Provided exactly what we needed. Had a couple of windows with broken seals and they replaced them...cant even tell they were repaired. The estimator and installer both arrived a few minutes early to our appointments...were professional...and explained what they were going to do. The office kept me well informed of the status of my order and installation. Wish I would have had the windows repaired sooner.
Stay away from these butchers. The quality of the job is completely dependent on the installer!I had all the windows in my home replaced in two bunches. The first bunch was done professionally in a quality way by the installer. The second bunch was installed in a completely shoddy way. They ruined my window frames. Nails were visible, sticking up and a hazard, and some were bent over. One window pain was cracked. And he gooped Silicone all over the glass and the wood. I was dumbfounded and in a state of shock. How could anyone be so incompetent. The only way I could get them to take any action to resolve the issue was to stop payment on my check. Only at that time did they send the guy that did the first install out to try to fix the butcher job the second installer did. He improved the appearance a lot but, unfortunately, a lot of damage was done that simply cannot be undone.I will never use these guys again and I will never recommend them. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
Surprised that the ball park quote for a single piece of shower glass was 1900$ they were my third quote. first company was 372$ the second company was $390. Their quote sounded high and tried to explain i Only needed the fixed piece of glass, they confirmed that was the price. YIKES I wont give a bad review because I did not use them obviously.
Im convinced these guys are going out of business. They dont show up for appointments, they dont call you back, they dont do what they say, they are the worst! Ive spent a lot of money with them and they arent finishing the job so Im left holding the bag. Im going to call the better business bureau. Stay away!
They are under a new owner. I was worried reading the reviews but they did a great job and it was done quickly. No complaints here.
Horrible experience - the work they were contracted to do was never completed, and they never refunded my down payment. I opened a case with the BBB, and by the time they contact the Glass Guru they were no longer in business. Now the are reopening under a different name - this is very shady, as they probably are not required to refund or take care of all previous customers they screwed over as a new business.
OMG...have been waiting all day for the appt we scheduled with them. They arent returning my phone calls at all and emailed them. I think we have been scammed out of our money! Just read the reviews - we saw them at the Akron Home Show and decided to have them come in. Im sick! I need to contact the better business bureau!!!
On September 16th I was e-mailed a quote on replacing glass for my condo I own. I called in and said go ahead with the project and gave them my downpayment. On September 28th, I was e-mailed a work order that said job complete. The estimate of work to be done and the work that ended up being done were not the same. I agreed to have two living room windows replaced but they only did moisture removal to them which didnt even work and the owner as well as Katrina would not do anything about it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Prior owners did a good job. New owners serviced my shower door for free even tho they didnt install it
Do not do business with this company unless you want to give your money to away. They took the money, never did the job and closed the business. Now they re-open again.
Macedonia store out of business. Had to call their franchise office to find this out. Paid a deposit and never got what I ordered. Havent heard back from corporate if Im going to get my deposit back.
