Had work done on the intake manifold of my 2013 VW CC in 2018. Work was reasonable, professional and timely. I recently needed some information about the work done in regards to a warranty recall from VW. Aaron could not have gone further to help me in retrieving the info.Thank you very much!
I was traveling through on a cross country road trip in my T4 weekender and limped into town. Aaron was very responsive on my way in and was able to get me on the road again in a day at a very reasonable price. Eurovans are not typical cars and FCS knew what to do. They saved my trip! I can’t thank them enough.
My 1974 MGB just died and they were willing to fit it in between appointments. They found the problem (would have taken me forever to diagnose) and fixed it quickly. I highly recommend Aaron and the team!
Only take your car here if you want amazing service and the best mechanics around. Absolutely amazing guys.
We have taken a few of our vehicles here and have had great customer service, at reasonable cost. They are knowledgeable and trustworthy. Highly recommend! thank you FCS.
My experience is really good with Foreign Car specialist. My car (BMW X3) was showing a Low Coolant light and I was worried may be something might be wrong with my coolant tank and I was suspecting it to be a coolant leak which could have been an expensive repair but Doug inspected and tested my car and figured out, It wasnt a leak just coolant level needed a top up. He changed the tank cap as well.Doug even inspected my car throughly which I really appreciate.Dropping off the car and picking it up was super easy, and even they are prompt and fast in their job.I would definitely recommend Foreign Car Specialist to everyone specially people having BMWs
There is only one place to take your foreign car. That is to the specialist.
I had a brake issue, and was told to look for an independent shop. I havent used one in a while, and called. The shop was helpful in me understanding who might be able to do the pad replacement and rotor refinishing while still explaining what they would do. We played phone tag and messaged back...all extremely responsive.... while I was working with texts included. They were already busy through the upcoming holiday and offered 4-5 other options for me with contact numbers, and the very first one was able to set me up giving me the same information. I dont have a foreign car now, but when I eventually get one, I would definitely trust this shop from their help to redirect and be honest with me.
My Mini Cooper is my baby and I always do the repairs myself unless its a bigger job, and in that case I have a friend whos an awesome mechanic. After moving to Madison I needed to find a new mechanic who knew what theyre doing. I tried the Mini Cooper Dealership on three separate occasions and they were all bad experiences so I wrote them off. (Their prices were outrageous too) I tried another import repair shop on the west side and they installed a heater blower motor that has made loud noises since. I was getting exhausted, then I found this gem. My Mini had been throwing a check engine light for some time whenever the turbo would be hard pressed. I tried several things to fix it and couldnt figure it out. I took it to Foreign Car Specialists and they walked me through the issue and solution. After repairing it the car runs A1, and it was reasonable. I will always bring my car here moving forward.
Excellent. Very pleased. No price gouging. Friendly desk. I shall return!
Had to take my 01 330ci here 3 times with a one-month span, these guys are the best. Fixed a ton of major issues very quickly, and were nice enough to explain everything in a way I could understand (I dont know much about cars). Aaron especially was super helpful and kind. My only recommendation would be for them to fix the potholes in their driveway
Doug and the staff at Foreign Car Specialist did great work on my ‘04 Jaguar. Doug and staff were extremely well versed in the repairs of my vehicle, they were upfront and honest about my repairs. I’ll bring my car back to them in the future.
The greatest experience I have ever had getting my car repaired. They are organized and do amazing work. The communication is second to none. A+ would recommend to everyone and their grandma. I worked with Aaron and he knows everything there is to know about cars. He was able to predict things before even looking at the car. I cant say enough good things about this place.
Real pro shop. Great communication. Highly recommend
The absolute best experience. Prompt, professional and courteous. Rick is absolutely wonderful and fully explains the work being done. Better than that, he CARES and its shows. The quality of work is exceptional and I truly wouldnt take my cars anywhere else. Easy to schedule an appointment, and nothing gets done without your approval. No surprises and no sales job. They fix what needs to be fixed without trying to extract anything more from you. Mechanics you can TRUST and workmanship you can count on !!!!
This is the most honest shop Ive ever taken my Saab to. They dont try to sell you on anything you dont need, and are very generous with their time. Also, they do really good work. A++ five stars.
I have been going to Foreign Car Specialists for 3 years since I had transmission issues with an older Volkswagen. Aaron and Doug are knowledgeable, thorough, and always helpful. Theyre not the cheapest but they do the job right and are very honest. They are also a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help you understand the mechanics of your vehicle better.Great place, highly recommended. The new shop on Seybold is clean and has ample parking. Plus theyve got a pretty rad coffee maker.
They did an excellent job repairing my Volkswagen and fixed a problem the dealership couldnt figure out. Aaron was very helpful helping me understand the issues and explaining my options.
Awesome people. By far the nicest and most knowledgeable people around. Great prices, Great service, and true compassion for the customer. I feel like a family member there.
I was in need of a full service inspection on a 2001 M5 before I bought it out of state. I called up FCS and Aaron was able to squeeze me into his busy schedule on extremely short notice. Aaron went above and beyond with the details of the inspection. I couldnt have been happier with his professional service and knowledge. If I lived nearby, this would definitely be my go-to shop for my BMWs needs! Dont hesitate taking your vehicle here!
Received excellent workmanship for my vehicle as well as superb customer service! Will definitely be passing recommendations along to others with European vehicles, as well as taking continuing the servicing of my car here.
I’d give more stars if I could. There’s a reason there is only a few 4 star reviews. Doug and Aaron are amazing. Always honest and won’t take my Acura anywhere else.
They took on a rear suspension bushing replacement on my old SAAB 9-5. Kind of tricky because the job could be fairly easy or a major pain depending on how rusted stuck the old bushings were.I was lucky and everything came apart well. It is nice to have a shop will take a crack at this work while not assuming the worst case, but, at the same time informing me of what that could turn out to be. They seem to understand old SAABs fairly well.
I have used Foreign Car specialists 2 times now and they are just great. They are more than helpful, they dont try and jack up the prices and when I got my exhaust system replaced they fixed up the extra play in my manual transmission for free. Im definitely using them whenever I have car troubles.
Fair pricing. Explain everything going on with the car clearly. Spend time with you on the phone making a decision. Flexible with pickup/drop off. Nice to work with!
They are honest, thorough and cost efficient! They always took wonderful care of my BMW X5 while I had it. I really appreciate them, specially being on a grad student budged.
These guys are fantastic! I have a car that has been plagued with problems for years, and these guys went to town and performed miracles for it! Great pricing on labor too! I would recommend them to anyone with a specialized foreign car. They also arent your typical mechanics who try to get you to fix unnecessary things, they let you know what needs to be fixed, what could be fixed, and what really doesnt need to be fixed as it will be unnecessary. Id go as far to say these guys are the best in the Madison area.
Ive always had great, transparent, and timely service done here on my cars. The estimates they provide have been spot-on as well, which is great - that hasnt always been my experience with other shops. Customer service here is top notch.
Very quick to get my bmw 435i in when I had a computer failure. They were very straight forward about the price and kept me updated as work went along so I always knew what was going on.
Super professional, friendly, does the job right the first time, fair price!
They were able to fix an issue with my car that no one else has, and I am bringing my car to them for future service
I have brought my BMW in twice. The first time an AWD component broke that the dealer wanted to charge me almost $3,000 for! Foreign car specialists allowed me to bring in my own part and only charged me $300 fix it! Very honest and knowledgeable. Its been a year and a half since they did that for me and there have no been any problems with it! The second time I messed up by stripping part of my oil pan. Again the dealer wanted a about $2,300 for it. They would not entertain any other options besides changing the whole pan. Foreign car specialists just rethreaded the bolt and told me it would be fine. And it has! Very impressed with their level of honesty. Thank you!
Great service, will work any foreign auto. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, absolutely will be a returning customer.
I cant say tell you how awesome these guys are! Did everything they could to help my situation and get my car fix. The guy was even willing to ask his wife to watch his new born baby so he could fix my car when theyre closed.
Absolutely great guys to work with, great communication, very personable. They took care of all the insanely frustrating electrical issues on my car, replaced parking brake assembly, and got me quotes for the million other things my car needs.Ill be bringing my car back to them in the future.
This review is based purely upon customer service I was given when calling and talking to Doug. Not only was Doug helpful and informative, taking 20 mins to talk with me without knowing whether or not I will bring the car in, but he spoke in a way that made me not want to bring my car anywhere else. If youre looking for a place to bring your car, CALL THEM FIRST. - Rob
They are professionals!!! Dont even think about going somewhere else, the rates are the best in the area. I had a transmission service on my BMW 740 its perfect now!!!
Best service experience Ive ever had. Doug is thorough, honest, and exceptionally capable. You can sincerely trust their analysis and their work.
I went there for a brake job for my BMW X3 2004. Thumps up for honesty and fairness (they are not the most economic garage around, but Id say among the fair ones). Frankly, this is only the second time I felt that I can trust a mechanic with what they do and how they do it. Will go there again and I wish I knew them sooner.
I have driven and walked past Foreign Car Specialists for years and when the heat went out on my 2006 BMW 330i Sedan, I searched mechanics near my home. Foreign Car Specialists is on Regent Street in between Park St and Camp Randall. I made the call expecting that they might be expensive but they have been around for a while and must be good. Aaron answered the phone, he had clearly just been working on a car as it took a few rings to pick up. I explained to Aaron that I am mechanically inclined but stuck on a project and asked what he would charge for a Diagnostic. I told Aaron that I have an oil Leak and finally just had the Coolant Low light come on in my car. Aarons knowledge of Bimmers is outstanding, he knew specifically my car and made suggestions that I could try before stopping in. I felt my heater core must be shot and he said that it is rare for this to need replacement. However, he didnt just blow me off, he said he is more than willing to take a look at the car but as a Do-it-Myselfer, I explained that I wanted to tackle this myself first. Aaron gave me suggestions and requested I call him back with a follow-up to make sure it worked.I rarely leave feedback or go to the trouble of doing reviews but there needs to be more people like Aaron at Foreign Car Specialists. If I do pay someone to work on my car, it will definitely be these guys. Give them a call, Im sure you will be glad you did.Update 4/4/15I have been back for service multiple times. These guys are honest, knowledgeable, and efficient. Give them a shot, you will be happy to do business with them. I am happy That I did.
Making an appointment is easy. Rick at the front desk -- you dont get better than that in terms of pleasantness, knowledge, ability to explain things, and such. Work -- this time, just NYState inspection and oil change -- was done comparatively quickly and, I assume (based on past repair work) professionally/correctly. The waiting area is adequate, though, come to think of it, some people might enjoy something other than a car channel to watch. (Didnt matter to me because I had a good book to read.) All in all, so-o-o much better than going to the dealer! Id recommend Foreign Car Specialists any time to anyone.
Helped me out and worked me into their busy schedule with a failed part 7 hours from home. Thanks again for your help.
I was referred by a friend, and now I always take my 1st gen Prius there. Their Prius guy is fantastic - hes always very thorough with his research, and even offered to rebuild my hybrid battery (I decided to buy a new one instead because I wanted the warranty). The labor rates are very reasonable.
FCS was able to get my car fixed quickly when I was stranded in Madison. Although I had a good experience overall, there was a point where I felt that I mightve been being taken advantage of. I had some bad spark plugs which needed replacement, but then the mechanic also claimed that I needed a new set of ignition coils. I thought that was very odd since I had them replaced 6 months prior. But I trusted him and told him to just do what needs to be done. However, the mechanic had a quick change of thought when I told him to give me the bad ignition coils so I could complain to my old mechanic. Suddenly the ignition coils didnt need replacing! This seems like a huge red flag.I hope the mechanic didnt really have bad intentions, but it sure felt like it. I would use this mechanic again, but just be sure to ask for your parts back if you think something doesnt make sense.
The best around Madison. Very honest and genuine folks!
Hired Foreign Car Specialists for a pre purchase inspection on a very new CPO car. The idea seemed like a waste of money but a second opinion on the car and the peace of mind pushed me to get it.Im glad I did. They uncovered a latent issue with the drivetrain that could prove to be very expensive and inconvenient if not addressed. I didnt even notice it in the test drive nor was it listed on the PPO inspection from the dealer. Aaron and the team are as meticulous with my purchase as I had hoped. They even went through a slew of false positive electrical fault codes, likely from a battery replacement. The pricing was very reasonable too considering the potential to save yourself from a bad purchase, have the peace of mind with your purchase, or both.Further more, I was a two hour drive away on a weekday and would be unable to coordinate the car delivery myself. The dealer dropped the car off and Foreign Car Specialists were able to deliver the car back to the dealer after the inspection.A sincere thanks to you and your team, Aaron.
Integrity. Reliable. Quality work. Highly recommended
My 2002 Eurovan-based RV has always been difficult for me to get service. Its too tall for most VW dealerships and Ive had to get work done at truck service spots by mechanics who see very few imports. The Eurovan is also finicky since it is hauling a lot more weight than it was designed for. When I picked up a friend who gets his older BMW serviced by Aaron I asked if they could work on my camper. For the first time since my dad bought the camper new (he sold it to me partially because it was so difficult to get work done) I encountered a mechanic who understands VWs and was willing to take a tall and cumbersome vehicle into their garage (with only a couple inches to spare). Aaron expertly diagnosed some of my older recurring problems, itemized a list of needed and optional tasks, and got me back on the road!
Great people very fair price and here to help
Great service. No ego when dealing with customers.
Aaron and Doug are the best.
Gilson Street, West Gilman, Regent Street and now here... This business has been around a long time.
Aaron and Doug know their stuff! And a much better rate than any of the other mechanics in town!
Foreign Car Specialists do great work. Theyre real car enthusiasts who care about cars and customers.
Simply the best.
Great and friendly service!
Great shop to work with!
