I stopped in to ask the gentleman running to he business to help fix a zipper on my clutch I bought used. He began by using a simple tool to tighten the zipper and said if that doesn’t hold up he could replace the zipper for me. So very helpful, many people would have replaced the zipper just to make a few dollars. I’ll definitely be back with other items that need repairing. Supporting an honest business is something I’m happy to do.
This man healed my soul with his handiwork. Very professional, fair prices and work done in a reasonable window of time. Be it your Sunday shoes or your bro down sandals this place is the can do all of shoe repair.
I’ve brought multiple pairs of shoes here and to say I’m impressed is an understatement! The repairs made my shoes and boots look brand new! Great prices and wonderful people, would highly recommend!
I had an amazing pair of leather boots for a little over a year. I used them so much the heel was almost completely gone and the leather was looking quite warn. I thought I was going to have to spring for a new pair but I took them in to Nathanael at Heel and Sole Connection to see what he could do. He built me a new heel that seems to be wearing much less quickly than the original and made the leather on my boots look like new! Not only did he do a beautiful job but he also did the repair for a very reasonable price. I would suggest him to anyone!
Would not trust my leather goods to anyone else in madison. Nathanaels attention to detail on my last resole was unmatched. They have done multiple other repairs on boots and shoes for me which turned out great. They are great also on giving advice on leather care products for everything leather that i own. Highly recommended!
Nathanael does excellent work! The prices are fair, and the work is done in a timely manner. My shoes actually look a little better than when they were originally purchased! I would not trust anyone else in Madison with my leather goods.
The first several times I went to Heel & Sole, the cobbler told me they weren’t worth the cost of repair and that I was better off tossing them and buying new ones. I’ve trusted him ever since. Not only is he honest, but he’s also very friendly and warm! I now buy better quality shoes and take them straight to Nathaniel as soon as I notice problems. He charges a cartoonishly small fee to do really great work, and you can trust him to give candid and professional advice—even if it means losing a sale.
Shoes were quickly repaired and the repairs were done extremely well. Shoes have had no problems
I have brought several pairs of shoes and boots to Heel and Sole, and I have never been disappointed with their work. The repair work was done well, finished when promised, and completed at a very reasonable price.
I have always found the cobblers at this shop to be knowledgable and super reasonable with prices. I have had several shoes saved by just having them re-heeled. Beyond that, I was shown other things about how my shoes are wearing down and what I can do to take care of them and other leather items I own. These cobblers are passionate about craftsmanship and are willing to really help if your aim is to take care of your shoes and leather goods. Not to mention there are lots of really cool things to look at in the shop!
We’ve brought several items to this shop over the past year and have always had great results! Very friendly and quality work
Disappointed in the craftsmanship. Little apparent interest in the aesthetic outcome of the major leather repair, a very long wait, and I was never contacted with the quote before the day I picked them up despite their promise to do so. I paid half this amount for triple the attention to detail and timeliness elsewhere.
I cant recommend this repair shop.I dropped my shoes off and was told I would get a phone call for a quote and completed product date. A week goes by without a phone call, so I call in. Surprise, they dont pick up the phone during business hours and their answering machine states that they arent returning phone messages at this time!Say what?Another week goes by, no phone call. I finally drive over to retrieve my shoes. When I get there, it took over 10 minutes to locate my shoes because theyre not sure where they are. Im told that they definitely called me and left a message too. I tell them its strange that my cellphone has no record of their call or message.Any who, they finally locate my shoes. The shoes are obviously not repaired, so I just take them back & leave.
High quality workmanship, and excellent service. Would give 10 stars if possible
Dropped off my boots for a reheel and polish in November. Got a call back from the son that he felt the soles needed work too - I didnt quite agree but figured they had some slight wear on the bottom so get it all done at the same time. I agreed to the work & a 3 month wait & $35. I specifically remember agreeing because the guy calling & working on them commented he was sorry it was right at winter/boot season but he was backlogged. Fast forward 4 months - NO text as promised. Walked in to get an update only to be told the boots were never touched!! I only said I was terribly disappointed about no communication and then I was told I could just throw my boots in the trash because they were garbage!! I told the condescending jerk that was a really unnecessary & uncalled for thing to say. He screws up & now blames & insults me!! My boot soles were only slightly worn & now they are coming off!! Stay away from this place & this jerk!
Good quality work, good communication, and reasonable price. Repairs were done faster than estimates, too!FYI, they don’t take credit cards. Cash, check, PayPal, pretty sure Venmo.
They know what thwy are doing here! Brought in a pair of boots and got them back looking basicly new. Fair prices in a reasonable time frame would bring any leather product back here.
My sandals look like new again! I had the heel pads replaced and Heel & Sole polished the leather at no additional charge.
Went to this place to get some shoes cleaned as well as a pair of dress shoes repaired. Lemme just say this, when i met nathanael i was very impressed with his professionalism. He has a great and friendly personality and his prices match his quality. You get what you pay for and im definetly coming back whenever i need shoe repair or even a simple cleaning!!!
I brought my sons baseball glove there. Pat was super helpful and friendly. I thought I could repair the glove myself until Pat showed me the length of leather that goes into weaving a ball glove together. Needless to say, I left it for him to fix up. Whoda thought a ball glove has a 6 piece of leather holding the whole thing together? Cost to me: $25. I highly recommend this place.
Here I will echo what other reviewers have said of this business: the owner is condescending, lies, and never called about a product we dropped off. My husband received a special pair of boots from a friend, heirlooms basically, that he dropped off here because they have repaired boots for him and done it well in the past. Months went by and we never heard if they were done, and my husband luckily remembered we had dropped them off, so he called and left messages inquiring about their status multiple times. No one called back, and so I drove over to ask about them. The man in the store was rude and scoffed when I told him the story, saying he has lots of messages and can’t listen to them all, but he is sure he called. Then he made me feel stupid for not having the claim slip after all this time and that the boots were probably gone. Gone where!?This man has no business sense and lost our boots and didn’t have the wherewithal to apologize, and then lied about calling us. Needless to say, extremely dissatisfied.
Go somewhere else. I was given an estimate of about 2 weeks for a boot repair by Nathanael, who was pleasant, said hed also shine them up, and that hed text when they were done.I had no qualms leaving my favorite boots with him or paying in advance. 3 weeks later I called to check on the status of the repair. No one answered or called back. I went in several days later to ask in person. The female partner immediately went on the defensive, interrupting before I could even get the question out to say they werent done, their policy was that they would call and if they havent then theyre not done. She said they dont answer the phone because its hard on the machines to stop them and they dont return calls about repair status because they dont understand what people dont get about the fact that theyll call when theyre done. This is clearly an ongoing problem and sore spot with the owners as simply asking the question sends them completely off the rails. She pointed at a sign on the wall behind her and said repairs are guaranteed in 8 weeks (no matter what they told you.) They dont say this verbally because people will go elsewhere and they know this. Instead, they post a small sign on the wall and then blame you for not noticing it. She took my ticket, made it very clear how put out she was looking for my boots which she already knew werent done, and told me I was wasting her time. She said is too old to put up with rude people. She continuously talked over me and was astoundingly rude and unprofessional. Im honestly still floored by this whole encounter. I walked out while she was still yelling at me. (I should not have flipped her off. It was not helpful but I completely lost my temper. She, however, flipped me off in return and followed me out to keep berating me. What kind of business owner does that?) I called again a few days later, still having no idea when my boots might be done or even if they had the correct number for me. I assumed no one would answer but hoped to get a more reasonable Nathanael to let him know what had happened and request a refund and the return of my unrepaired boots so I could go elsewhere. He answered, interrupted as well, and reiterated everything his mother had said, with the same attitude. He also added they dont return calls because they get so many voicemails from people asking when their items will be done. Essentially once theyve got your item, you are expected to not contact them under any circumstances, no matter how late your repair is. He said the repair was already started so my boots could not be refunded or returned. I steeled myself to ask the dreaded question, when did he think they might be done? He sighed audibly and said a about a day or so. They were, in fact, done the next day, exactly 4 weeks from when I dropped them off and twice as long as estimated. I sent a friend in to get them for me as I could not stomach any more interaction with either of these people. (The repair itself was good, credit where its due, however there are other cobblers who do good work and dont attack their customers.) Due to a good experience with the previous owner years ago, I didnt check reviews on this business in advance however I now see there is an almost identical complaint on the BBB from Oct 2015. This is not an isolated incident but a pattern of behavior. These people treat their customers as an interruption of their day and impediment to their work, instead of the reason for it. As they like to say to customers who dare to ask about the status of their repair, there are other cobblers, go to one of them. Take their advice.
The owner was friendly and efficient. Great job!
My now family heirloom leather camera bag now brags a beautiful new hand stitched strap and looks new after conditioning of the leather thanks to Heel and Sole!
I took in a pair of sandals to have the closure straps - part fabric, part leather - shortened. I requested that the fabric portion be cut and shortened. When I picked them up, the repair person had just cut off the end of the strap, which was the nice leather part with the velcro backing. So, I was left with mostly a fabric strap and about a half inch of leather. Now, there was not enough velcro to close the straps properly! I was told, for an additional charge, velcro could be added! I just left immedicately and will never use the services of the place again. Brought my shoes elsewhere to have velcro added. Shoddy work!
Proprietor, Pat, was cheerful and helpful--he took time to carefully examine the shoes and he gave options on how to increase its longevity. He fixed my shoes quickly and at a low price.
Good work, got my shoes in perfect shape, took shorter than others places in town and similar prices. I took my leather boots with a problem on the zipper, he said the cost and time, and even suggested other place where I could get something more simple (and cheaper) done and the disadvantages of doing that.
Professional and nice service!
Great service from a great guy
Timely, quality work! Thank you!
Does excellent work on boots - definitely a local business to support
Took in a pair of heels to have an elastic strap repaired. They insisted I pre-pay and they would be done in 3 days. It took over 2 weeks and I had to call twice to check if they were done. The work was a mess and I still couldnt wear them. I will never go back.
Unprofessional, poor business practices and poor/shoddy work.
Dropped off a pair of boots almost 2 months ago, Ive tried to call to get an update, the person at the end was quite rude. Ive ordered replacements because of the delay for a sole re glue.
Thank you for having repaired my shoes so well !! you saved my holidays !!!5 stars !!
