Wonderful coffee shop. Super nice staff and good coffee
Coffee is decent and comes out fresh and hot. But, they blatantly ask you to tip. Even when service is terrible. I waited 20 minutes to be helped. Mind you, only myself and a another person was there. There were two servers. But they both waited on that guy first before helping me. Then added on a $5 tip for themselves. So coffee is ok/ service not so much.
Good coffee in a nice space. Food, avocado toast, was average, after an extended wait for it while being prepared. Would love to see what this place is like outside of COVID.
It was moderately busy when I visited. I ordered a latte and the barista who made my drink literally knocked it over as she was sliding it to me. It spilled all over the counter and onto the floor. I quickly grabbed some napkins and stopped the flow of the spill from getting worse on the floor and then continued to wipe both the counter and the floor up with more napkins myself. I assumed the barista would be busy remaking the spilled drink and didnt mind helping out with the spill. The barista disappeared to the other side of the bar. After waiting about 8-10 minutes, my friends and I had to leave for an upcoming reservation, so I walked away with what I had been given which at this point was a half-filled cup of spilled latte. I was very disappointed.
So.... I went in today for two Oat milk lattes at Hilldale between 3:00pm-3:46pm saturday 07/31. The service at this bar isnt always great but I keep going because its the closest place to my workplace, I go at LEAST 3-4 times a week. I went in today for two OAT milk lattes, while she was making them, one of the lattes was missing a little bit of oat milk. While I was waiting, I saw her grab COWS milk and added it to the steam machine. I approached the counter to ask her (thinking she made a mistake or got confused) she then said she didnt and showed me the oat milk carton (As if I was stupid), I told her I saw her use cow milk and that I had asked for Oat milk and she replied I KNOW ITS OAT MILK. I walked away because she dumped the milk to use oat milk instead. When she gave me the two oat lattes, she asked Do you want to taste them? as if trying to prove a point.I have ignored the RUDE service but this was the last straw.
Fantastic coffee. I ended up going right back for a 2nd when I finished my first. Enough said.
Rude staff (visibly rolled eyes when I asked a few quick questions about their menu) and cold brewed coffee.
They serve the best pourover in town
The dark roast was amazing!
Cute little coffee shop in hilldale. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and it was huge! Not to mention, probably the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had.
Great coffee, friendly baristas, and beautiful interior. Wonderful social media photography as well!
Awesome coffee and vibe.
The dude behind the counter was super friendly & patient! he fixed my drink after i forgot to say no ice. coffee is great & decor is nice.
Bare in mind I judge coffee places based on black coffee, but this place was no good.
I like this place, even with lock down restrictions. Good pour-over.
Good location, poor service. People who work there are so rude for some reason. They show every possible way that they hate their job, their life and you. So enjoy if you like being hated!
The guy who is in the counter is not respectful, the place is nice but the service is not good at all. They gave me my drink and it was too sweet for me and I asked him to fix that, but he was not helpful at all. Even with that he’s asking for a tip!!!!
Pretty nice place.Avocado toast was good - I had mine spicy. I didnt see it on the menu, but was offered cayenne and hot sauce on top, and highly recommend getting it that way - I think it would have been a little under-seasoned otherwise. Then again, they may add more salt and pepper if you dont get hot sauce...Mocha was nice and smooth. I got 12oz with two shots and enjoyed it. Not sure what the default is for that size.Almond scone was quite good. On the softer side, but in a good way (not crumby soft - chewy soft), and nice sugar grains on top.All pastries other than muffins were gone by 5:30 on a Thursday.I think if the toast had a bit more flavor, or if the coffee had been amazing instead of merely good it would be fine stars. Solid 4+ though.
I am so glad we finally have a proper coffee shop in Hilldale. This place is great for both a quick coffee on the way to work, and hanging out for a while. There is a gorgeous fireplace to warm up beside. There is plenty of seating, and good power outlet locations. The employees are always so nice, even early in the morning. I stick to the lattes and they are delightful. Avocado toast is also a personal favorite. It may seem expensive to pay $5 for a single piece of avocado toast, but it is massive and hearty enough to fill me up. I also love that when you order for here, everything comes in a real mug or dish, no single use items if you dont need them. And they are happy to fill a cup if you bring your own. They also have real silverware. Im looking forward to seeing how the walk up window works once the weather warms up.
One of my favorite places in Madison! So delicious and have always had a great experience. Try their avocado toast - its amazing!
Amazing staff; was there a few nights ago and the boy at the counter was so helpful! fixed my drink for me after i forgot to ask for oat milk instead of dairy; im allergic!
One of the few coffee shops in Madison that you can get a pour over.
Really cool spot!
The Hilldale location is beautiful. Beautifully decorated, the coffee was great, the shop was clean and the staff was friendly. The only suggestion I have is the Hilldale location definitely needs a bigger storefront. Everyone was crammed in there. The outdoor tables help a little bit but no one wants to sit outside in cold weather. Too small for the amount of customers this place has.
Coffee and espresso drinks are fantastic. They make a tasty ice latte but skip the baked goods. Dry and overpriced.
The vibe almost screamed Were on trend you pleb! The coffee, however, was very good. And the staff was most gracious (even to a pleb).
Delicious chaider and pastry! Would recommend!!!
Trendy and chic place. Not a lot of options to eat. But their coffee is top-notch
Great!
Hip and modern place for your caffeine needs. Fits in very well with the Hilldale Mall vibes. Coffee is a reasonable price which honestly surprised me! Good place to go and sit down with your MacBook and go to work on your next graphic design project. I joke, its felt pretty welcoming for all.
Stopped twice over two days for a breve cappuccino. Both times they nailed it, which I cannot say for many coffee shops. Their lemon scones were also very good. Friendly staff. It was nice place to sit and relax.
My mom and I went to Crescendo for the first time. I had a cappuccino and my mom had a macchiato. Both drinks were hot and made fresh with care. While we were drinking we had a raspberry scone too. The ladies that work there are kind and inviting. Please go and grab a cup of coffee, study, work, and relax!
Lovely coffee shop, great employees, but was completely overrun by college kids taking up entire tables while studying. What ever happened to libraries? Thankfully by the time I finished ordering one of them left a high bar top table so my toddler and I could precariously perch on the stools and share our pumpkin bread that was sold to us without a plate. If this was a coffee shop in state street or near campus I would totally understand (uw alum) but this is a shopping mall that families frequent. Perhaps tables should have a time limit? I don’t know. I just want to enjoy a latte in a beautiful cafe with my kid while shopping and not be looking around and tables occupied by single people and their laptops.
Great ambiance and coffee! Owners do exceptional job!
I love Crescendo! Friendly staff, great coffee and food, and incredible atmosphere. My favorite cafe in town!
Great drinks and service!
Love this place -- smooth (not acidic) coffee. The (Cha Cha) tea is among the best in town in my experience, with only one place beating it and thats a dedicated tea shop.
It is the worst coffee I have ever drink
Best coffee in town. Great and very friendly staff.
Latte was a little milk-heavy for my taste but overall the shop felt very comfortable.
Really good expresso bar with great service and cozy digs. Perfect break while shopping
A pristine aesthetic with a relaxed vibebaristas who really care about and know what theyre doingI tried their maple cinnamon cortado, which was very good. The only minor down-side was that I didnt consider just how sweet real maple sugar is, so next time Ill as for a tad less.
One of the best shops in Madison, and perhaps the best on the west side. A cool, new location with great coffee.
Great if you wanna grab a bite and have a really tasty coffee. Not recommend for extended stay and laptop work. I came on a Sunday and all seating was gone plus ten people in line. The internet here is super slow with just 3MBs - devide that by five laptops and I was barely able to check FB. Pretty chilly, too, in the winter, since the door constantly opens. Friendly staff, perfect setvice.
Am a coffee lover, I try most of the Madison coffee, This is one of the Best coffee places to go, I love the atmosphere and Service......
The coffee taste bad. Other things are ok
Modern coffee shop, with a warm inviting atmosphere.
Good food and drink, reasonable prices, but it can be a bit loud and difficult to work in.
Great Americano, inviting atmosphere, highly recommended!
