Best, and freshest, coffee in Madison. The atmosphere at all of the shops is unparalleled and it’s clear that the business is built off of a philosophy of love and kindness rather than a singular focus on profit. This philosophy is really what makes EVP stand out from any coffee shop that I’ve ever been to.

EVP is a truly a Madison community coffee shop. Unlike chain coffee shops which serve a profit driven CEO, EVP serves the needs of the community. Tracy is very intentional about how EVP exists in Madison and takes personal interest in the lives of her clientele, the baristas and the community at large. Aside from all of this, EVP makes a fantastic cup of coffee, roasting their own beans and offering every variety of coffee drink as well as Rishi Tea, always with non-dairy options available. The pastries are fantastic as are the soups, so there is always something delicious and nutritious to enjoy with your beverage of choice. With so many coffee shops to choose from, EVP is the one I return to time and again as it feels so much more like home and like it is an icon of what the best of Madison can be.

We popped in after a library pickup a few days ago solely to pick up a hot chocolate for my daughter’s teacher. We ended up leaving with three hot chocolates, two cute Valentine sugar cookies, a punch card for future free drinks and the best experience. The owner was working and is incredibly kind. She made sure the hot chocolate was immediately drinkable for my kids and they said it was one of the best cookies they’ve ever had. Looking forward to stopping in today for drinks and treats. We’ve found our favorite coffee shop.

Would always frequent the east side location but now it’s only open till 1! When I work until 4:30 and have to drive all the way to the west side to then show up a little past 5 to the shop closed is beyond frustrating. Guess I’m going to grace.

EVP Coffee is almost next door to the Sequoya branch of the Madison Public Library. Coffee shops and libraries are a match made in heaven. This is very much a neighborhood coffee shop, with lots of locals coming regularly.I just discovered the homemade granola, which is nutty and not too sweet. Newspapers are available, as is a small section that is useful to keep children entertained.

EVP is my favorite coffee shop in town. The food is fantastic, the coffee amazing, and it’s a very warm and welcome environment all-around!

Dropped in on my way to the library. Had an unpleasantly watery iced chai latte. Maybe their coffee is fine, but their tea needs reevaluating. $5–not worth it.

Staff is always incredibly friendly and they have great coffee, we purchase the whole beans frequently and they have a great variety roasted fresh and often. Their food is great too, wonderful scones and fun varieties of different soups. Theyre wonderful for large events and have been very generous to neighboring communities with donations and space use. I recommend EVP to anyone.

Evp has, hands down, the best beans in the city. If your looking to buy some beans, this is the first place Id go. They also have my favorite scones (Id recommend the cherry almond) and great home made granola.

Cannot even begin to describe how AMAZING and WONDERFUL the people at this place are! I got into a car accident in front of the store & they brought me out a hot chocolate and umbrella (because it was raining), & made sure I was ok. They were so gracious & helpful, and this speaks volumes about the character for this business, YOU HAVE MADE A FOREVER CUSTOMER, and just by the customer service alone, this place is a 50 out of 10!

The coffee is good, but any coffee house is expected to have good drip coffee. There were five laptops open in the entire place yet the wifi signal was almost non existent. Further, the music volume was constantly being changed up and down every ten seconds, and that is not an exaggeration. Very distracting.

Although my iced mocha was really good and chocolatey, the ambiance was not very cozy or near what I had anticipated. Also, I came in at 3:00 during a weekday, which isnt that close to closing time and they had only a few bakery items left--most of the case was empty. I had a muffin, but it was really dry and disappointing. Im willing to try another EVP location though.

EVP makes great coffee. Period. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in town. Meticulously roasted and skillfully brewed. A good barista makes better drinks, and EVP has very good baristas. Skip the big chains, get good local coffee at EVP

I used to frequent EVP but wont be returning again. It seems to have gone downhill recently. Yesterday, I waited for several minutes at the counter while the server completely ignored me, bent over a cell phone. When she finally looked up, she apologized and said she didnt see me, but she was so close she would have had to be blind in one eye not to at least sense I was standing right there. The coffee was tepid, especially after putting cream in it, and even after she added a hot water splash it was still lukewarm. Today, my coffee was again tepid, and when I mentioned this to the server, he told me it was my fault because I poured cream into it. Both me and the customer next to me pointed out to him that properly heated coffee does get lukewarn just because you add cream to it (just ask Collectivo). Still the young man, who was wearing a red shirt and had blond hair, argued with me and, while he did finally give me a new cup (equally cold after cream), he didnt even apologize. I do my work in coffee shops a lot and go to places all over Madison, and have not had this problem with the coffee or rude baristas anywhere else. Madison has tons of killer coffee shops, so no one needs to put up with one that becomes sub-par like this EVP apparently has.
