One of the things I like about Strictly Discs is the array of recent open CDs to peruse before buying. While I lived here they were the store of choice. Been gone from Madison for 5 years but havent found a store quite as good in the new home town. Picked up a few discs that sounded interesting. Great place!

A great place to go if you are looking for vinyl or CDs. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and are even willing to give some guided recommendations if you arent sure what to get. For used stuff, they even have disc condition listed on the price sticker, which is VERY helpful. Be sure to check out the basement if you are looking for vinyl!

Amazing record store, Ive been all over the country and this is one of the best. Theyve got a great collection of more out there international and electronic stuff, jazz, blues, and your more standard rock n roll fare. Very friendly staff. Love it great jazz selection friendly staff

Of the 30+ record stores Ive been to in Wisconsin, this is easily one of my favorites.

I would not recommend anyone sell this this company unless they pay you right up front. They came to our house October of 2020 to picked up over 400 CDs, 800 DVDs, speakers, turntables and amplifier. Finally, late January of 2021 he offered $50.00 because he said there was nothing of value and nothing worked, even though when he first came to the house said it was a nice selection and he also paid top dollar. Also, when Ron was in the house he had seen a painting he was interested in but we told him it wasnt for sale. The day they packed up the other items, he found the painting which had been tucked back out of the way and my husband caught him walking the painting to his car. Ron said he wanted to show it to his wife. My husband agreed to let Ron take the painting and gave him a book that had the artists autograph as well. We didnt get the painting back until January 2021 and the book was never returned. I will not sell to this company again. Total rip off.

Ron, Angie and shout out to Spense recommended and sold me a lot of excellent vinyl in the mid aughts. To this day I have been a loyal customer and have yet to see a record store that competes with their volume to quality ratio. Many digs include records new and old you will not see anywhere else. Still can not believe I did not buy that first pressing of Waltz For Debby. That Dr. Octagon still bangs.

This is not a large store but for the size it has a lot of inventory of new and used vinyl and CDs. The helpful staff is more than willing to order anything they dont have in stock providing its still available. I think its great to still have a traditional record store in Madison. If youre looking to give music as a gift, a album or CD has a better visual impact than a flash drive with a MP3 file.

This place is fantastic. Huge selection and genres and the used vinyl selection downstairs will keep you busy for hours! Tabbed artists in the bins for quick reference and always someone close by to help!

Amazing selection

Theyve got a great selection, but two things I frown upon: Collector sleeves are taped shut so youll have to take their word on the grading. The hip hop section is in the window, Ive gotten slightly warped records from those bins twice now. Huge fan of the mystery grab bags though, what a great idea!

So, I really miss record stores.This place is a great throw back and I really appreciate the incredible collection theyve put together.You really need to drop in now and then, because the selection is always changing. Found a pristine copy of Bostons first album on one such visit.Its in such great shape, I almost hate to play it.

Love it! If your a vinyl fan, this IS the place. My 12 year old just learned about cassettes and loves going there almost every Sunday. Hes a fan of Queen and so hes on the hunt for Queen cassettes while Im on the prowl for vinyl, It even smells nostalgic there. U can try the record b4 u buy it. They also have 45s. Its a great place.

This is a pretty dope place. I just got a record player, and discovered this gem of a vinyl store. They have so many different options for music here. But, if they dont have what youre looking for, you can definitely order it and not have to worry about ordering it online and have someone break it while delivering to your house.

Good selection but not much for hard rock

My favorite record store in Madison. I often learn about something new based on what they are playing and I get great recommendations from one of the dudes there. They have plenty to choose from in my lane but bit more inventory on the metal and prog side (like Opeth and Steven Wilson) would be nice.

Home to one of the best used vinyl selections in the Midwest. I’ve personally never seen better, but I’m assuming there’s at least one place that rivals Strictly Discs. Although, it seems like a tall order. That’s not the only thing they do well though. The staff is about as knowledgeable as you could possibly expect & also very helpful in answering any questions, whether pertaining to a title’s location within the store or advice as to which artists are the best fit when exploring a previously unknown genre or style. I wasn’t expecting such quality when I relocated to Madison only 9 months ago but I now can’t deny that my love for the city today stems from the fact that Strictly Discs exists.

This is the place to go for spinning plastic, cds and vinyl old and new. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable and they have an online store as well, although nothing beats browsing stacks of old records in the basement.

The basement its a great place to dive into so many shelves of used vinyl. Really you could be here for hours looking through all the boxes and finally figuring out what you want.

Love this store. Can get any type of music you can image. I dont get where all the negativity is coming from. I have never had a bad experience here once. I have had them order me a bunch of music and hard time find music and each time they have pulled through with it. Cant thank them enough. Money well spent.

A nice little record store well worth the visit. Im not going to say that their selection was limited because they had two whole floors of vinyls and cds. But it seemed like a lot of the more popular stuff was picked over. Never the less it was a cool store. If you are a vinyl fan then you will find something.

THE only place for your music listening needs. Owners Angie and Ron put the customer first. Always. The staff is laid back but always helpful if asked. Knowledge runs deep at SD, inventory too. If they dont have what you are looking for they will get it if its possible. The store is compact and impeccably clean and organized. With a focus on vinyl they also have new and used CDs. Used vinyl is marked with cover and record condition and price. Highly recommended!

Strictly Discs has a lot of vinyl to look through - new stock upstairs, used stock downstairs. There is a lot of good quality used vinyl and we often find something we want when we visit. Store also has record players of various age and price for sale. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Took discs in to sell them and they gave us our box of disc back. I got to the car and my girlfriend insisted that we were missing discs. She looked at the pictures she sent to her mom and sure enough all of our michael jackson, Aretha franklin, Beegees and Prince records where gone. Sure enough, we walk back in and he says oh we forgot about these ones we are so glad you came back! Again we looked through the stack he gave us and our Beegees album was STILL missing. Again he popped back out with a SECOND stack and said we found another stack, these should be all of them. After sifting through our records 3 times we finally had them all.Even if we give them the benefit of the doubt they are still a very unorganized business, but i highly suggest documenting what you have before you take them in there.

Ridiculously large selection of used vinyl and they can get in anything new that you want. The staff is super helpful when needed and not pushy when you dont need a hand.

I just got back into vinyl and this has been the only record store in Madison Ive been having luck with. All the other places are crammed with no selection worth mentioning.1) I assume they got rid of the rude staff that was there before. The staff Ive talked to the last few times I was in are awesome. The lady at the front is super talkative and polite. The basement dwellers? Those guys are a blast! I went down there and he recognized me from my last visit and I told him youre going to help me spend some money. He laughed and told him exactly what I was looking for, he showed me where everything was I was looking for. A few times he had a memory of something he saw that recently came in, went and dug through hundreds of records just on the off chance it was something I wanted (which was). At one point he came up smiling and handed me a Primus album and asked if I was ever into them. I didnt even glace twice, I was like HELL YA BRO!They check the discs and rate them accordingly. Some a little pricey but everything I bought was in really good condition.

Always a great selection of quality used vinyl. The staff here has the typical music shop attitude. But, when I have special ordered, they have always followed through on any commitments made.

During a visit from out of town I was fortunate to spend about 90 minutes at this store. What a pleasure. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the selection and prices were excellent. Ill definately be back when I can stay longer.
