Almost certainly the best store in Boston for roleplayers and wargamers: board games, miniatures, terrain, model kits, paints, and more. The staff are super friendly, the store jammed with goodies, and there is ample street parking.

This place was AWESOME! Tons of stuff to look at...like seriously, an amazing selection! Popped in and got a few pots of paint and decided to take a shot and ask the employee behind the counter (didnt catch their name) if they had any skeleton sets, something similar to Reaper Bones Bog Skeletons that I havent been able to find. Clerk was friendly and helpful in looking. He even went onto their computer and found this awesome Wargames Atlantic Classic Fantasy Skeleton Warriors set that they happened to have in stock! I came in hoping to maybe find 5 or so skeletons to start working on for a D&D campaign, and instead left with 32 from a set I didnt even know existed! Super happy and satisfied. I was only in there briefly but the store just had this super awesome, relaxed vibe. My only disappointment was leaving and the realization that I live 3 states away. If youre a local youd be crazy not to stop in here and give this place your business!

Was finally able to visit the new location; and while it will be hard to match the excitement of descending the stairs into the original, the new store is bright, vibrantly stocked with merchandise and still has all the wonder and magic of the original. As always, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable and I can’t wait to make the next visit.

New gundam models every week. Basic hobby supplies and large model paint selection. Specializes in historic wargames. Tables for play too for all kinds of table games. Has scenery to use for them. Hours are short but at least theyre open! Wargaming, roleplaying, rpg, plastic and wood model kits, collectible toys, military, fantasy, strategy, clean, bathroom. They were in Medford at first (or Malden) and Ive been going here for 30 years off and on.

TL/DR: Condescending staff.I drove up to Hobby Bunker this afternoon from Cambridge with my girlfriend as an early birthday treat. I was excited to have a look at the models and to see what else they had, especially since there are so few hobby shops in the area. When I saw that they had a very cool collection, I said aloud Im definitely going to pick up a few things. I told the person at the front desk how much I liked the store. Looking up from his magazine, he said Great. Lackluster response, but hes probably used to the store, I thought. I asked him if they had a Meng German A7V World War I Tank. He asked me if I knew what that was....I didnt quite know how to make it more specific than the brand and model. I tried to explain further what the model is as best I could. Before he even looked it up or knew what I was talking about he said he guarantees they dont have it. He looked it up and then told me it was out of stock with the creator and, with a rude, tone told me it was $90 anyway. I nodded indicating my knowledge that its a pricier kit, but, all things considered, $90 isnt really all that much, so I thought that was a bit odd. I accepted that it wasnt in stock and thanked him for looking it up.Then I saw they had a few sets of AK interactive paints (1 set of four bottles for the German infantry, 3 or 4 sets of four bottles for Russian aircraft) in addition to a number of individual bottles. They didnt have a set that I had in mind (four bottles for a WWII Spitfire - one of the most popular vehicles that modelers make), so I asked him if, using individual AK bottles, I could recreate the set. He responded with frustrated bewilderment as though he was confused at the very nature of what I was asking. He asked, seemingly annoyed: Are you asking me if I can mix the paints? Because no - we cant do that. I clarified that: No, Im asking if I could recreate a particular set of paints using the individual bottles. He asked if I knew which paints were in the set. Of course, if I knew offhand which paints were in the set, I wouldnt be asking him that question. I was hoping for a little customer service. He sniggered and shook his head sighing something along the lines of well Id need to know what paints are in the set or well thatd be helpful with a tone as though I were a bothersome customer asking for far more. I bluntly asked him if I was putting him out or something given his rude, dismissive demeanor. He demurred and went to help another customer (which was fine - the customer wanted to check out). But his demeanor was strange and it was an unhelpful, condescending experience. This experience left me feeling completely unenthused about doing business with Hobby Bunker, where I was made to feel unwelcome and bothersome.I had walked in with the intention of picking up a few paints and a few kits. Dealing with their staff member left me in the mood to simply walk out. Which I did.Im sure the owners of this place are fine people. But I hope they reconsider who they choose as staff members.Aside from this experience, they have a bunch of good Tamiya, Revell, Eduard, Airfix, and Dragon models at reasonable prices, full sets of Tamiya, AK Interactive, and Citadel paints, a good selection of D&D minis, and some other cool stuff. I think they may do games upstairs. I will not return.

Store with anything hobby related you could need. Also sell King & Country soldiers. I visited from Philadelphia but they were packing up their displays for the Chicago Toy Soldiers show. So I missed out on the collection they normally have.

Ive gone here for years for 40k and honestly its always a great experience. The staff are very friendly, you make new friends interested in your hobby, and it makes for a great little community to nerd out. Highly recommend anyone interested in the hobby to check it out!

If youre going there for the discount theyre running, ask if what you are buying is part of the sale. I found out that most of the things I bought werent on sale at all, despite having the 2019 label that they said meant its 20% off on the signs. 🤷‍♂️The shop manager or whoever was behind the counter wasnt very helpful or friendly. He mostly talked down to my wife when we were talking about d&d and grumbled when I had to return some brushes when I found out they were full price. I get you pay CC fees, but they could have mentioned what part of the sale before charging me.Sorry, but were not planning on shopping with you at the new location.

This is, by far, my favorite place to play Magic. Everyone here is incredibly nice, both the workers and the people who come to play and buy.

Quite large assortment of models, from military to civilian aircraft, ships, vehicles, WWII war machines, classic and modern motoGP sport bikes, classic and modern F1 cars, lots of paint, masking, and prep supplies. Its a great place to browse and dig for rarely seen models of whatever.Prices are high, so be prepared for that, but few (if any) other hobby resources around metro-Boston have a model collection as rich as Hobby Bunker. I limit myself to one trip every six months, like a managed diet. Otherwise model makers like myself would end up pigging out to ones own detriment. At least I would. Awesome resource for unique model kits gathered from unique places throughout the world.

The hobby bunker is great because it has a huge selection of miniature soldiers and owner and the employees are true enthusiasts of the hobby. Their service is always attentive. I’ve only been here a few times, but boy is there a great selection. It’s astonishing to me, all the WWII, American Civil War, etc. Every time I look at my model Czechoslovakian tank, I remember my wonderful experiences here. It’s like walking into history. I don’t know how the staff geek out working there. Speaking of which, there are very nice staff. The first time I came here my nana took me. She told a little bit of a long story, but he still kept a smile on his face. The selection is excellent, from having tons of different tanks to having all different sizes of figures. If you really wanted to, you could recreate d-day with the stuff they have here. Truly amazing.

Huge selection! Sells toy soldiers by the pose from bins from 75¢ to $2. One of the guys there was really helpful. Also a selection of models, miniatures, paints and books. Prices vary from great deals to some mark ups, but all brick and mortar stores have to meet overhead costs. Definitely check it out if youre in the area.

I bring my nephews here to meet up with their friends and they play/exchange cards. Good environment I always check because my nephews are autistic and I want to make sure they will be treated well. The staff are really nice and helpful. Im glad they have this place where my nephews can meet up with their friends to play in a safe environment where they wont be judge or mistreated.

This is a fully stocked fantastic hobby store, everything from classic war games to board games two painting supplies.

I recently got access to a 3-D printer and have been creating some great detailed models. I needed to find some Vallejo paints and new brushes to start painting of my prints. Hobby Bunker has a great selection of acrylic paint, brushes, and all sorts of gear for model making and miniatures. The staff Is very friendly and helpful and really know their stuff. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you are interested in anything to do with painting or miniatures.

Lots of collectables, new old stuff to find, they have artists come on occasion and do autographs, a bit dusty in places, but there are nice welcoming communities for various games. The owners are great and very helpful.

Nice hidden gem of this area especially for plastic model kit enthusiasts. Yes it is actually underground which makes it cooler, the owner is cool as long as your interested in buying something and not just hanging out. I would like it if they had more Gundam Model kits, but they go for stuff thats more in high demand. I think.... if they dont have what you want they can order it for you.

High prices...staff SUPER disinterested. Zero service here. I like to support local merchants but ive been here 3 times and the same dour, personality free guy is behind the counter. Treats customers as an annoyance. By definition you expect to pay more at a small shop...i could live with that but every time i interact w this guy (the owner i think) i get the impression hes annoyed ppl are in his store.

Went to hobby bunker the other day. One of the guys who worked there was treating me rude. I got in line and when there were others standing around, he took the guy standing behind me as he was walking up towards the front. Then when I had my turn next I asked for one thing which I pointed to directly next to him and he was still being rude and had no clue what I was talking about. Almost every time I go in there the same staff members are there and are extremely unfriendly. I would NOT recommend going to a place like this if you value your financials.

I visited Hobby Bunker while visiting the U.S back in 2018, Seth, if I remember correctly, the owner at the time was an incredibly hospitable man who not only showed me the expansive stock he had in his store but also the kindness of the common man in America when I needed to head back he offered me a ride back to Woburn, where I was staying at the time.if that isnt enough, They have good prices, good range of tools and paints, books and models to look through and in addition theyre just down the road from the metro station, definetely worth the visit and id go again if it didnt cost me a plane ticket and a 3000+ mile trip just to get to them.

The basement storefront is unattractive, but the selection of board games, paints, miniatures, and models is huge. Staff was helpful and prices are reasonable. A great place to see and touch for anyone into tabletop gaming or board gaming.

Hobby bunker is an amazing relic of a bygone age, a small store stuffed to the brim with everything model related from rare hard to find kits to more ambiguous warhammer sets. If you are someone who is interested in making models I implore you to take a trip to this shop, from its stacked shelves you can find everything you need to take the dive into becoming a hobby model maker.

Lots of games and loose pieces. Beautiful toys from many fantasy worlds. I happened to come with a 3yo, not their target audience, asked if they had anything and they said no. We decided to look around anyway, and it turns out they had plenty to entertain him, including toys he already has and loves to play with like a really great front end loader and matchbox cars and little plastic figures. Hes now saving up a dollar for his first purchase, and I hope Doc Hudson (from Cars 2006) will still be there when we return.

Got into Dungeons and Dragons recently, and for Christmas I got my first paint set.I wanted to up my game so I decided to go to Hobby Bunker like a week or two ago and see what it was all about.The store owner was very patient and took the time to explain the basics one step at a time, from brushes to primers to paints and sealers/varnish, giving me multiple choices and pros and cons of each. There was a very deep selection of paints and brushes.Then he gave me tips on how to approach painting and some media sources to learn from on my own.Finally he directed me to the miniatures and explained the differences between plastic and metal minis, DnD vs Warhammer.The selections are quite deep, hundreds of models of different types, couldn’t be happier.I bought a great set of items and went home and my painting game has taken off. The new ones look so goood!!!And its all thanks to you, mr store owner! So thank you for awesome customer service and tips, and your awesome store. 5 stars easily, everyone should come here for hobby needs.I paint almost every single day now, its such a nice release from work! Will definitely be stopping by soon for more!
