Review for the purchase and installation of a Mitsubishi 24k BTU single zone unit installed. I expressed the importance of having access to their online application features for my smart home. We reviewed the plan and requirements multiple times, everything seemed clear. He came to my house, we walked though the plan and I paid a 75% deposit.Now comes install day,,,He orders the copper tubing required for the install. I reminded Jean that I had the lines installed in the walls during my renovation (he had installed the lines). When Jean arrived, he mentioned that he “doesn’t do demo”. Fair enough (would have been nice to have known while he was on site quoting me). He begins to install the outdoor condensing unit, on the ground. I had mentioned multiple times that I needed it installed to the foundation. He wasn’t prepared with the tools needed to drill through the foundation. Luckily, my father is a professional of all trades, so these problems were easily solved. I’d be fine, if this was the only problem, but it got much worse...I was very specific in wanting to have controls through the Mitsubishi’s Kumo cloud app. He sent me a quote with the parts that I needed, and I trusted that it would be correct. When I tried to discuss in additional detail, he became very defensive as if I was questioning his qualifications.He ordered the wrong part to integrate the unit with the cloud application. I had to pay a 15% restocking fee and an additional $225 in labor/travel to have the error corrected. I expressed to Jean that I didn’t believe it was my mistake. How would I know which parts to order? I tried to discuss in detail what was on the quote, he disregarded my request. He became very defensive and was often rude throughout the process.My suggestion is to go through a professional through the Mitsubishi site, they have preferred contractors listed (Jean isn’t one of them). Jean was a referral but I wouldn’t recommend him. He was very defensive at any of my questions. He clearly did not listen to his customer. He admitted at the end that he wasn’t familiar with the Kumo adapter. I paid the price for trusting an individual I shouldn’t have.
